great board functions effectively. temps stay in a great range UCC did not operate, put a tri-core into another board and it unlocked it fine, UNLOCK=FAIL, also when i switched the mobos i place a 955 in this factor only to locate out that it does not assistance the 955 simply because it is 125W, didn't know untill some investigation. Not going to rma since it operates fine, but one egg for UCC fail and a single egg for not specifying 95W MAX TDP. I hope newegg modifications that on the spec readout.

my 2.2ghz ƒ.7 OC'd) amd 4200+ idles about 31ish and 50ish completely loaded in a quantity of tests and will run much lower at stock clocks and volts. Runs cool in my book even when overclocked.Board = a keeper.Shipping = Unbeatable Can't get voltage past 1.55Couldn't break three.0ghz :(>maybe these 2 cons are related<(I've carried out each on one more board and this board holds also significantly back, even overclocked)compatible quads were a journey to come across, wish Newegg had them instock. OC'd my amd 4200+ to 2.7ghz Ƒ.375vlts) stable; two.8+change Ƒ.55volts) = crashed, not too impressed. Perfect alternative for a Spending budget Builder or somebody to who wants to tink around with a Extremely Decent Mobo. If you're looking at this for an Am3 upgrade, get a correct Am3 Motherboard, you can only do so a lot with this board. that getting stated, this is fairly a lot perfect for an Am2 guy, while you may have difficulty obtaining quads that are compatible (I've looked), Newegg has a tri and we'll see how that goes. This is a really very good board for the value:feature ratio. I'd buy again. ramble ramble

This product genuinely shocked me. I read the mixed reviews and decided to take the plunge and danger it - all i can say is it was worth the gamble. IF it doesn't arrive DOA then it's a joy to operate with, especially the advanced attributes. i can't speak for on-board devices like sound/video/usb but the bios is outstanding and the overclocking potential is nicely beyond sufficient for even mid-road performance builds. The added bonus of the core unlocker is also a plus. Win7 64-bit took to this like nobodies buisness and installed ALL hardware devoid of so much as putting in the driver CD.AMPLE space for oversized HSF coolers offered the mATX format. Offered it's form factor, it's challenging to actually appreciate all this board has to give. matx only leaves so substantially area for plugs and ports and at the end of the day that's exactly what this is - a compromise among ddr2/ddr3 and matx/atx. every little thing is accessible but only just and cable routing could be tricky if you don't install it into a case with adequate area. as a transition board this fills the gap amongst am2/am3 and ddr2/ddr3 beautifully, don't hesitate to order one particular if you're contemplating an overclock friendly board that will tide you more than as you gradually upgrade the rest of your program to subsequent-gen tech. Also, maintain in mind that AM2 chips ONLY use DDR2 and that AM3 chips can use either DDR2 or DDR3. don't obtain this board thinking your AM2 can hop up to DDR3 or you will be sadly and sorely mistaken.(i installed this into a fully custom case but an actual matx case could be pressed for area near some of the forward ports like the ATA/IDE ribbon and the power connection as these are generally obscured by cd-rom drives in smaller instances).

UCC, nice overclocking options, BIOS was updated to the most recent version. Onboard sound is extremely good. I want more fans! Working excellent, UCC unlocked my 4th core, but it's a bit unstable - I'm planning on messing with it a bit to see if I can get it working properly.

It works as expected. Absolutely nothing fancy. It was affordable and provides me the alternative to expand to a low powered AM3 setup in the future when it is essentially time to upgrade my HTPC. noticeably smaller sized in length than the board that it replaced which is often very good in a micro ATX case Had some quite odd conflicts with the BIOS of this motherboard and my RAID card's BIOS. The way that the BIOS boots up on this motherboard truly seems to push the RAID card BIOS out of the way generating it really tricky to access it. Not that I require it but as soon as in a lengthy though but when you need to have to rebuild a disk array it's kind of crucial :) Didn't actually want an Nvidia chipset on a board because of my previous expertise with reliability concerns. This nForce 630a appears to do fairly properly but runs very hot. I wouldn't reccomend getting any skin close to the nb heatsink soon after it has been operating for a couple hours!

The pros of this board are wonderful! supports ddr2 and three (depending on the chipset). I swear that I replaced a CPU, mobo, ram and power provide in my old machine with this (had an old amd 939) and the thing booted up and ran without having a reinstall!! Over all build good quality I would rate @ a 8.5. For the dollars it is difficult to beat. See cons... I am so erked appropriate now. I tried to install a fresh media center xp on this. I do recognize xp is falling by the wayside but the **** I had to deal with in drivers is absolutely nothing brief of ridiculous. I will in no way ever (I could say ever for ever right here) own a via audio chipset once again. I got this thing up and running and had everything operating. I installed service pack three and it pancaked. What's worse is it apparently can't correctly unistall drivers in XP. I removed service pack 3 and either the audio or the nvidia display drivers fail to reinstall. There is also a "hdeck.exe" that wants to install just about every time the machine starts, it is borderline a virus. I do fully grasp that some of the concerns are squarely with microsoft but I am a die difficult asus/msi fan and will not be acquiring another asrock board. The drivers for this are totally bogus (for windows media center XP). Stay away from this board if you strategy on employing it as an os. PClinuxos2010 ran fine for the most part. All in all I think it is a good board but the time I spent obtaining the factor to operate successfully raised the cost by 贄. I anticipate issues to function when I purchase them. With operating systems I do understand that it is not often the manufactures challenge. That being mentioned if it were a realteck chip on the audio, this board would have been wonderful. Also as a note to board producers, I bought this os, I am going to use it again. If you fail to support it effectively, I got no time for you. Will spend the added income for an asus or msi subsequent time. As an added note this is a computer for a household member and I have no private attachment to it. I hope I have not been to harsh but I don't like to see individuals waste time like I just did. I will re-install tomorrow and it will function excellent as lengthy as I jump through the suitable hoops but I expect manufacturers to be the ones doing the hoop jumping.

This plus the Sempron 140 (unlocked) is pretty much equal the the price tag of an Athlon II X 2 240e. Sort of a freebie. None. 95 TPD is adequate now that newer ones' TPDs are going green/down.

The fellow below that claimed it can't see a CD drive and a hard drive possibly didn't set up the jumpers correctly. The difficult drive demands to be set as "Master with ATA-Compliant slave", or "Master with Slave", this may well need 2 jumpers in the challenging drive. The CD wants to be set as "Slave", not "Cable Select"I seriously don't assume the motherboard will fail to see two properly configured drives. Natch, just know how to function IDE devices.

Price is incredibly superior for the characteristics, I don't believe there are any other motherboards in this cost range that feature hardware core unlocking. I have bought three in the final 6 months or so mainly because they had been so effortless to function with and are a wonderful spending budget platform. AM2, AM2+, AM3 all great. I actually like that there are two ddr2 dimms and 2 ddr3 dimms. Having mentioned that, you need to note that it will be restricted to 8gb memory depending on which configuration you are making use of. The chipset is not AMD but I have identified these nForce 630a boards run difficulty cost-free and are reliable. Not substantially to say here, good, reliable, solid motherboard for a budget build. I haven't messed with the unlocking but, as the budget builds had been for family members members and I was going for stability initially. The only drivers you seriously require to install from the disc are the ethernet drivers. The rest you can download the latest and save some hassle, plus getting many drivers after you update anyway. My sister's old GeForce 6100 mobo lost its networking controller, making it a brick. She was rather pleased with the forty-one thing investment to get up and operating once again. New egg got it to Colorado within a week (free shipping), even though I didn't order til late Wednesday and I knew it wouldn't get here by the weekend. Got it Monday, she was on the web by 5pm.

-Inexpensive-Properly layed out-See Other Thoughts. Uhh... I created a create with some 4GB 1600 G. Skill, but when I put it in my comp will only boot at 800 Mhz, and I know it's dual channel with the DDR portion but theres an option for 1066, 1333, 1600, and it won't boot from any of those. I don't know if it's since I'm operating a 32-bit but it just sucks. Would be completely pleased if my RAM ran at 1600 Mhz

This is a stable little board for the dollars. ACC/overclocking/core unlocking works like a charm with no BIOS upgrade. Embedded graphics and sound worked with out a hitch. You'll require to run the setup disk in Windows 7, but driver installation is a snap. Overall, an great value for a no frills AM3 based method. None to speak of.

Cost. Multiprocessor compatible. Although so far, all the 6 core AM3 processors I can discover are 125W, which is beyond the 95W which this board supports. So till they make 95W AM3 processors, it genuinely ISN'T 6 core capable.Has sufficient expansion slots for a 50$ board. And the overclock function in the bios is Really beneficial. The BIOS that is on the board has bugs. Upgrade it to a newer version as soon as you get on the internet. I kept getting BSOD intermittently till I flashed the bios to 1.50.Only 2 usable memory slots as two are for AM3 cpus and greater speed memory modules. Added a low cost graphics card I bought here also and now have a triple monitor set up operating. I'm only making use of 2 of the three offered outputs, each VGA, but having nearly 40 inches of desktop is really good. I also utilised the overclock function in bios to get my two.2ghz phenom quad core operating stably at 2.73ghz with a stock heatsink and fan.Motherboard reports the cpu running about 50C which is fantastic for a affordable heatsink and fan.

Flexibility for 3 generations of processors and 2 generations of DDR, FlexATX size with 4 RAM slots and four SATA plus all the other essential items is pretty incredible By way of HD Audio?! I prefer Realtek, but this will do. CPU Mounting plate is rotated 90 degrees from typical so if you have the upright style of HSF, you may well not simply be able to push airflow out the back of the case. Also, Gigabit LAN would have been good, but for the awesome value of the board I planned accordingly. BTW, these had been all minor cons for me... Following looking at the CPU compatibility listings for this one and a similar Asus-branded motherboard, I could see why they were beneath fifty bucks. *Make confident you do go to the site and check your precise CPU to their list. The motherboard I received had BIOS v1.ten on it, so it looks as although I would have been good with most of the CPUs on the list, but I didn't want to likelihood it and got a CPU that had compatibility with all versions of the BIOS, the AM3 250 Regor CPU. I already had 2GB of DDR2 and want to wait to upgrade to DDR3 when I can get a smokin' deal, so I loved the flexibility this board supplied, in that regard. I'm glad I won't be looking at the board significantly because the ugly orange heatsink on the northbridge is so 90's ;)

So far, So very great. Bought this and a sempron 140. This board unlocked the 140 to 2 cores extremely simply. The procedure is simple. This board has a surprising number of overclocking options for the cheep value. Presently have the little 140 Unlocked and Overclocked. Original speed was 2.7, got it operating stable at three.five with both cores. I am extremely happy! Manual is a bit light on the bios descriptions. ๠ for a cpu and motherboard that overclock like mad? Actually nice deal. I built this as a second pc to go in my living space so I could play Globe of Warcraft there. I was on a really tight spending budget, and this worked out Wonderful!

umm it functions better than my blow out 1? This factor is a piece of garbage to my understanding. My boot occasions are incredibly slow, my resolution keeps obtaining messed up everytime i power down and turn my computer back on, the onboard graphics are horrible. My PC score went from like a 5.8 on my old mobo which to a three. when i installed this factor. Believed i was acquiring an upgrade terribly mistaken. Don't do what i did and go for inexpensive. Invest a couple additional dollars and get a four or 5 egg motherboard. Im an idiot for acquiring this factor. Oh yeah and like 2 days soon after i had it the system crashed on me.

1. Low cost. two. Unlocks AMD CPUs. I got my x3 unlocked to X4 with additional cache. three. Supports both DDR2 and DDR3 RAMs, in case you have some added DDR2 rams sitting about. 1. Even for a micro atx MB, the usable extension slots seem to be less than one'd expect - you get 1x PCIE x16, 1x PCIEx1 and only 1x PCI that you can essentially use since your video card fan/heatsink will invalidate 1 of them (maybe even two) without any concerns asked. two. Only supports 2x rams so 8GB max. That's the cost you pay for keeping both DDR2 and DDR3 compatibility. Properly, 2x4GB ram must maintain you going for rather some time, just keep in mind don't go half way and get 2x2GB instead - you WILL regret that!!three. 1000MB/s HT rather than 2600MB/s. Oh properly, massive deal. The 1 truely sad thing (IMHO) is that couple of low-end MBs have built-in wifi cards. That could simply save 1 (in this case the only one) precious PCI slot for one thing else. I wish we can see that a lot more, just like the current ITX MBs.

Good little board for lower-end to moderate AMD CPUs. I have not attempted anything above a triple-core in this board but never had any difficulties just running things in spec. Naturally not an overclocking monster nor was it created to be pushed beyond spec.ASRock likes to advertise that their boards "could theoretically" do this or that, but just run in-spec on lower-end boards and there's rarely any trouble. I have successfully utilised RAID a couple of times with this board with no concerns.

Can support a six-core CPU, but only up to 95W, but who cares for a motherboard that's around โ? Great value. Definitely attempt it. I've bought ten of these and not 1 poor 1 but.
