Effortless install, fantastic characteristics, great design, very impressed with virtually each and every aspect of this board. Included programs aren't quite good. Not that huge of a deal although. The largest con I've noticed so far is the challenge I'm having with my USB ports. It's not a driver issue, it's one thing electrical. As soon as I touch the outer sleeve of any of the ports my computer crashes. It's intermittent but so far I've had issues on both the front and back ports. It also occasionally takes place when I plug a thing into the audio jack. I've held off on creating this evaluation until I made positive the case was not at fault here. According to google it's a pretty widespread problem with these boards. I'm going to call ASUS and see if they have a fix. Very first develop, and aside from the electrical problems I'm really content with my acquire.

I had either 2 doa M4A87 Evos or incompatible hardware, but I switched to this one and it worked amazing. I never thought I'd get pleasure from the beep of it posting so a lot. I was about to sware off Asus simply because of my experience with the other motherboard, but this one has restored my faith in them. Nit-picky, but some of the usb ports are a small tight and challenging to work with.

Exceptionally straightforward board to install and tweak. Purchased the board pretty much a year ago and have been messing with it ever given that! Have swapped hdd's out and gone from single to raid0 with out a hitch. Overclocking is a cinch, getting a stable technique beyond the turbo evo software program can be challenging! Originally OC'd to 4.1ghz with a Phenom IIx6, stable mainly, but occasionally gets the BSOD. Asus software program automatically OC'd the processor to 3.7ghz, which is plenty! Dual video cards, Raid and SSD setups are simple! If you program on more than-clocking the processor at all, do NOT turn on the "Turbo Unlocker" switch on the MOBO. In particular if you are employing BIOS to OC the processor. I had a hell of a time getting all six cores to function equally, (two wouldn't function at all if the FSB was changed!). Nonetheless not sufficient to lose an egg even though. The MOBO is well worth the price, and there is a lot more than enough energy and speed in the CPU to do Anything. Given the OC capabilities of the board, Asus ought to in all probability note in its user manual that folks who manually OC processors really should not push the shiny buttons when installing the MOBO.Eh- not that any of us read that stuff anyways.

Looks great, specs appear very good...In other words, great on paper! Awful service by Asus. Over 1 hour on the telephone and rep cannot answer compatibility question about ram.three months with no my laptop or computer working compliments of Asus...Had I known I would have gone with any other business... Keep away from Asus unless you are tech-savvy adequate and don't need tech support.I only wish I could give a -egg rating.

I tend to give credit when it's due, and this is a incredibly excellent motherboard. Yes in a ideal world the bios would auto update and all that jazz, but we're not living in that globe. I had no complications with something installing to this board. I see Crossfire in my future and far more memory, and no problems with the vid card finding in the way of something...except my power plugs maybe. Nicely thought out board. The bios updates and Asus. Do they ever operate inside windows? I've owned Asus for all of my builds and they do make awesome boards, but usually have to dos update the bios. I don't have a 6. sata drive however, and see the bios out there fixes that problem. I'll update one of these days. Also they ought to put a sticker on the processor like they do the memory for those of us who don't read the freakin manual...lol...the processor core switch on the board or Ţ at boot needs to be pressed to unlock the additional cores...otherwise you don't see them all. I often like to see absolutely everyone's setup so here's mine.Antec DF-30 Case-Back fan removed for H2O cooling radiator+fanASUS M4A89TD PRO/USB3 AM3 AMD 890FX SATA 6Gb/sAMD Phenom II X6 1100T Blk Ed. Over-clock NirvanaGreat Users Manual (Read it or have no excuse)Very clear labeling on the boardVery good to exceptional board layoutI chose this board bc it makes it possible for me to plug in my old IDE drives though nonetheless getting all the newest bells and whistles for current tech and future tech. This is the most versatile MB for the 890 chipset family members hands down. Individuals speak about the PCIE expansion slots becoming covered up, I have no problem with this and cant see a way to prevent it unless the video card manufacturers commence to discover a way to make their cards in such a fashion that they are mindful of the PCIE Slots on motherboards. This is do-in a position, but I doubt it will ever occur... so this is no hit against this MB.As far as finding a big CPU cooler.... get 1 that fits.... stop whining about how you cant paste a gigantic memory cooler on leading of your rack of DIMMs. Along with this MB I am running:AMD 3.3GHz Thuban Black Ed.4x2GB Corsair XMS3 Model CMX8GX3M4A1333C9AnteC LANBoy CaseComputer Energy & Cooling 1GW Power Supply Ɩ years old)NVIDIA-made 450 GTSWD Caviar Black - 500 GB 7200 RPMMushkin Callisto Deluxe 240GB SATA II SSD

Coolest mobo I've ever had. OC tweaks every way you turn. Core Unlocker supposedly doubles your CPU power, and the turbo switch supposedly adds a few hundred megahertz. None. I'm glad I chose this mobo. There's tons of usb slots, sata6 slots, and it even has usb three..

Good layout and capabilities (if they worked). The onboard led's letting you know exactly where the challenge lies is a excellent feature. Worked out some of the bugs with BIOS update but when bring out of sleep mode led indicates that I have a bad CPU. Have to hold power button down to shut off, unplug, wait a few minutes and then plug back up. Boots up fine then. I have employed ASUS in the past without having concerns but alot of concerns with this 1. Going to have to RMA and be down awhile and out shipping charges. ASUS Updater doesnt' find newest BIOS you have to go to their support site to locate that. Stuck with ASUS out of loyality but do your self a favor and appear at Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5. Close to the similar attributes and not a lot much more in price.

Personal computer works fine now but took a LOT of function (see cons)RAID works fine and has an selection to put SATA ports five and 6 in a non-RAID configuration. This makes it so that you can install windows from a CD drive with no having to load RAID drivers prior to getting into the graphical install process. Two PCIeX16 slotsBIOS makes it possible for you to mess with fairly substantially anything you could ever require to.Works with my Phenom II X6 1055Has been quite stable given that initial setup This motherboard took many hours of difficult issue solving to make it function on a basic level.Would not post out of the box. I had to use the "memOK" button along with a ton of boot attempts to make the laptop or computer get to the bios. This initial boot was pure luck. As soon as in the bios it appeared that the stock memory timings had been completely off (wayyyyy too rapidly) for the 4GB of corsair 1333 MHz 9-9-9-24 DDR3 I had installed. Immediately after changing the ram timings, the pc began posting significantly much more typically. I then updated the bios and the personal computer became significantly a lot more stable, but nonetheless set itself to incorrect ram timings.A further problem with RAM is that the pc will only boot if the RAM is set to 1066MHz.For some reason for a whilst the personal computer would restart upon ANY keystroke for the duration of one of the full screen logo displays even though posting (this consists of the "delete" important that permits you to enter the bios). It randomly stopped doing this after a even though and now enters the bios as it must. When the board was appropriately configured it worked. It's just that correctly configuring the board was very difficult. In terms of the above mentioned problem with only being able to run my ram at 1066MHz as opposed to 1333MHz, it could be probable that the RAM driving voltages are incorrect and resetting those could solve the problem, but I don't know how to do that.Although the board works now, I've given it a 3 egg rating due to the initial difficulties that I encountered. Not posting out of the box is an concern that could trigger most folks to quickly RMA the board. It was only simply because I got lucky and the pc posted when that I was able to set the ram timings right and have to board post regularly. Other reviews indicate that some folks have greater luck with diverse RAM, so if you get this board, make confident you do your research as opposed to attempting to recycle ram from a previous create.

-Aside from the SATA and existence of the IDE port not to mention the location this board has a wonderful layout. The mixture and location of PCI-E and PCI slots is pretty good.-Very high create high quality as is typical of Asus. From the heatsink and its mounting, to all the little connectors and slots. Everything feels very solid which is not the case on some less expensive boards.-The heatsink, this board has extremely robust and cool seeking heatsink on the NB and MOSFETs. It looks superior and may well cool be far better as well if you pull the stupid "Hybrid" logo off. What is it supposed to be a Hybrid of anyway?-Nice small capabilities (Turbo Key, MemOK, ect.) are actually a nice touch. Though with my X6 1055T the only 1 I got to use was Trubo Important.-BIOS and software control for the CPU fan, and two system fans = great cooling and near silence at the exact same time.-Good audio excellent from the Realtek chip and absolutely no noise from the front audio ports. -The IDE port. Asus; its 2010 and this is an enthusiast board the IDE port should not be on the board at all let alone taking bring space for SATA ports.-The SATA location isn't the finest but it worked out fine in my case (Lian Li PC-9F) but may not work properly in others.-Aside from the location there is only 6 SATA ports which may well not be sufficient for a board of this class.-TurboKey dose work and is dead uncomplicated but. It took my 1055T from 2.8 stock to 3.26Ghz with just the flip of a switch but it also gave voltage bump which resulted in over 100 additional watts energy draw (measured at AC). For those working with the stock HS/F this could be an problem. Its a wonderful AM3 board for a high end system just don't rely on TurboKey for your final OC.

Manual DRAM timing allowed me to use g-skill DDR 1600 not listed as compatible. Included more than-clocking utility is safe, uncomplicated, and adds actual performance. AUTO tuning has my phenom II x6 1075 Ɠ.0ghz stock) running at 3.4ghz. With zalman CPU cooler temps stayed below 127 degrees on a 12 hour multithreaded burn in test. Extraordinary! Had no issue at all in any area of setup. Built in RAID controller is basic but makes it possible for even much more flexibility. Widely spaced pcix16 slots for simple air flow. Elegant blue heat syncs match all my other components. Widely spaced pcix16 slots leave small room for other expansion in a dual vga card setup. The included raid drivers would not permit a windows 7 install. Updated drivers from ASUS.com worked perfectly.

Love the board, it has really nice asthetics, soo many great features like ASUS Express Gate, Mem OK, etc. The onboard error LED's helped me alot to fiqure out a ram problem that I ran into, and overclocking my 1090T to 4.0GHz was a breeze! Would highly recommend this board to anyone!!!

Nicely laid out board. Have had no issues at all with it, supports most recent SATA and USB versions (not that I have any compatible devices however), and has 'real' dual x16 PCIe slots (none of that x8 when each are applied...).Not significantly of an overclocker, but the tools that came with the board (both from inside the OS and in the BIOS), I had to mess around with it. I set it to a 'mild' overclocking, it set up my 965 to run at 3.65 (normally 3.four) and it's been working great considering that. If you are into doing the tweaks your self, every thing you'd want to change is available, along with some failsafe stuff in case you hose it. My last mobo was a DFI which was an absolute nightmare. So I might be overrating this 1 mainly because it just works...

Totally amazing board with Phenom II x6, 1 of the fastest and nicest board i've owned to date. BIOS updates are really uncomplicated, and board has nice layout. I did not OC or even use the turbo mode. 5 eggs 29 days immediately after i bought it, it suddenly shut down. Immediately after a power down and restart, an error screen stating EC or EC flash is corrupted and to contact ASUS rep. Right after googleing, i quickly rma'ed and boxed it up and sent it back. -2 eggs I like the board sufficient to take a chance on another 1. I will nevertheless get the extended warrenty on the next 1.
