Fantastic layout. Fantastic BIOS selections. Plenty of USB ports. eSATA & Firewire. SLI on AMD platform. Core Unlock. Fairly responsive consumer service. Only five sata ports. One particular RMA so far with poor NIC and wouldn't respond to power switch even right after replacing power supply. Had a single RMA with a bad NIC and motherboard occasionally wouldn't turn on. RMA approach was difficult to figure out ... asus site is very convoluted. Once RMA'd turnaroud was pretty good. They sent back similar board - due to new chipset heatsink, looks like they replaced chipset?NIC functions, technique turned on, but wouldn't recognize my OCZ Vertex2 in BIOS. Have different SSD in laptop, eventually just switched the two simply because I was tired of troubleshooting problems with this board. Factors seemed to be working fine but now I'm obtaining occasional lockups (memtest overnight no errors) and boot drive inaccessible errors when turning on. Far more flaky-ness. I really wish I had purchased the M-S-I NF980-G65 but I thought ASU S would be more solid. Not hunting forward to spending a lot more time troubleshooting this board. I perform with computers all day, final thing I want to do is come residence and deal with troubles :[

This thing worked fine right out of the box, was a new Computer build. Has a lot of functions in the bios for O.C.ers. I really just wanted an AMD / Nvidia combo on one particular board for SLI. Only two alternatives ASUS or MSI from Newegg, and I have had MSI boards that didn't hold up well. ASUS is a fantastic corporation. Working wonderful and not mention it looks attractive too, it has curb appeal lol. None , nicely not possibly a con but you gotta be Speedy-Draw McGraw on the delete important to get into bios on this factor, it boots so quick lol. Adore it, I bought it out of lack of genuine possibilities for amd/sli boards, but I am glad it is ASUS, its the only computer hardware organization i actually like alot, i try to get all ASUS, ( which included an ASUS soundcard that i purchased also). All in all wonderful board. mine came with bios 8003 so it was pretty present.

ASUS, six-core support OOB, DDR3, SLI assistance. This board is great for beginners. Rock solid at stock. Terrible vdroop. .08v to be nice. That is just INSANE. My cpu at STOCK drops to 1.24V below load. You can only immagine what overclocking is like. If you have any plans on a 4ghz+ overclock stay away from this board like the plague. You will need to set higher than 1.5 in your BIOS unless you have some sort of miracle board with no vdroop. I even then seen my voltage drop to 1.374!!!! As significantly as I wanted SLI assistance It looks like I will be switching to AMD boards and even possibly receiving rid of NVIDIA alltogether and going to ATI. What a shame...I actually wanted this thing to function.

The M4N98TD EVO delivers everything advertised and far more! This high-profile board is the best selection for existing AM3 processors with SLI resolution. Each the cost and dual x16 lanes generate a excellent price/perf ratio. I was sceptical about the heatsinks seated over the mb chipset becoming capable of handling a heavy overclock, but to my enjoyment I have my 1090T running 4GHz 24ǝ stable at 1.55v, ran five IBT max test, Prime, everything I can throw at it and it doesn't crash. Fantastic board for overclocking even with 6-cores. The onboard By way of HD audio is also pretty decent, definetely far better than Realtek in my opinion. Fundamentally this is a great board for High-Profile SLI setups coupled with overclockability and High-Profile CPU support, mainly due to the 8Ư phase and 140TDP ceiling. No cons, given that the board does what it advertises and a lot more. The only con is that NVIDIA won't revise a chipset remedy that contains USB3. and SATA3 support for AM3 SLI setups, my guess is it's restricted to chipset support and not ASUS's selection/fault. The ASUS Sli-bridge supplied is a bit inferior to the EVGA 3-way version, if you're contemplating operating a genuinely High-Finish Video card setup in SLI and you count every single fps, than the EVGA bridge is the way to go. This board doesn't have USB3. or SATA3 support, it's not a con given that ASUS is limited to NVIDIA's 980 chipset, but nonetheless it would be good to have them. A thing of note is that ASUS released a statement not that lengthy ago saying they would support AM3+ on prior AM3 boards via a BIOS update, so this board might be an investement for potential Bulldozer buyers.

Purchased from Newegg. I was impressed with the: Attributes, Flexibility of use, OC selections, and price. My last four mobos have all been ASUS so I trust(ed) them. RAM interface, and reliability. Right after experiencing my issue, I've performed some research and found there are several individuals who are getting RAM difficulties with this mobo. In particular, some boards are not accepting more than stick of RAM !!! I just found out that this is my problem as well. I've owned this mobo for 8 months and in no way had much more than 1 DIMM of RAM installed till currently. I just discovered that this mobo will not accept a lot more than 1 DIMM ƑGB) of RAM !!! Newegg's standard return policy is only 30-days on mobos so it's essential that you fully test any mobo you acquire from them inside that time frame. I'm quite disappointed and not positive what I'm going to do.

When stabilized, would run fine...getting it stable, that's yet another thing. The "Mem OK" button is a PITA, any alter you make to the computer, even just turning it off at the switch on the energy provide, signifies a no-boot circumstance. Take off the side panel, play with the finicky Mem OK button a few occasions, hope it functions. In addition, any BIOS adjustments you will have made are gone, getting reverted back to default. Go back into BIOS, alter things back to the way you had them, nope, doesn't like adjustments, no-boot again....you get the thought. Why put up with a piece of laptop or computer hardware that isn't carrying out the job you paid difficult-earned cash for it to do? Headed back to Newegg, RMA.

-SLI on AMD board-Not too high priced-Wonderful overclocker-Very expansive-Recognized my hexacore immediately -No USB three. (not a extremely massive deal)-No transfer of OS, meaning you must do a complete install. You can\'t wipe, backup, and restore. It will not function. Keyboard/mouse do not recognize without having a clean install.-"Make Disk" ultility is garbage. I got this board for my AMD rig and I couldn't be happier. I've in no way been an ATI guy ever, even on my Intel machines I have to go with NVIDIA so it was a Massive plus to discover an AMD board with an SLI chipset.Rig:Corsair 1000W PSU2x GTX 5701100T Thuban Phenom II X6 @ 4.3GHzASUS M4N98TD EVO2x OCZ 60GB SSD RAID And a couple of others I forgot..

Quickly board, supports SLI at x16 mode (hard to come by at this cost), comes with overclocking software program, lots of BIOS settings, Core unlocker, and the high quality you anticipate from ASUS. You still have to use the traditional jumper to reset the BIOS if it requirements to be reset rather of a button or switch, no USB three., No SATA 6. I'm content with my buy and I will purchase an ASUS motherboard once more! I was debating heavily between MSI or ASUS and I'm not regreting my selection at all going with ASUS. Get this board if you want advanced overclocking capabilities and/or you program on SLI'ing two NVIDIA GPUs.

This is the second ASUS motherboard I've applied in a PC develop. I picked this board particularly since it supports NVIDIA SLI capable graphics cards with 16X PCI Express 2. interface. User guide gives sufficient info on board layout to perform machine assembly. Good layout of interface on the motherboard. On board LEDs help with component issues at initial POST of system. None. Bought this board for a UBUNTU Linux machine create. Thanks to everyone that reviewed their components and mentioned UBUNTU Linux compatability. rock solid, lots of characteristics, very good price. I purchased this board to replace my asus a8n sli deluxe (best board i've owned but). I figured it was time to upgrade from socket 939. I'm running this with a phenom x6 1090t, 16 gigs of corsair vengence ddr3 1600, two pny 9800 1gb gt's sli'd together, 2 1tb samsung hd's, antec 900 case (not almost enough room), ocz game extreme 700w psu. I had a couple of freezes following the initial develop, but following flashing the BIOS and upgrading the chipset and drivers every thing works flawlessly. The ram is not listed as compatible for this board, but following a speedy flash and beep from the memtest, it works fine. I had to set the ram frequency to 1600 manually in the bios. This is really my 1st develop from scratch and I could't be happier with the results. So simple. None so far. Very a few people today are complaining about the sound on this board. Mine sounds really great. Hopefully it will continue to.

AMD, and SLI on the exact same board. Supports up to 16 gigs of ram(dual channel, but who definitely needs much more, as there is no noticeable distinction among dual and trip channel). Effective board energy wise. Fantastic layout, effortless access to almost everything. Good utilities, awesome support(register on an Asus VIP, and you get 24 to 48 hour response time from asus tech support). True X16 SLI. Runs cool, and stable for overclocking. Feels sturdy, and looks great. I liked the quick connect for the front audio and front panel, produced life way simpler. Supports legacy ACྜྷ and HD audio. Tons of USB two. ports. Had to replace the 3v battery on the board, as it was not holding a charge, and BIOS settings would reset after cold boot. Didnt take an egg away, as its an uncomplicated fix, and its not definitely that bad, it just means that the batteries applied had been old. Hybrid SLI is iffy at most on this board. Had the onboard video chip on, and I would get BSOD's and crash all the time. Shut Hybrid SLI off, and challenge fixed. If you have BIOS resets on cold boot, check the onboard 3v battery's voltage. Its a low cost fix, and less complicated than RMAing the board over. Bad RAM slots, and PCIE slots are an RMA, but newegg and asus have often been the finest about returns and repairs. This is my 5th asus product(laptop, gfx card, screen, gfx card, and now this mobo) and I will buy Asus when I can. About the Hybrid SLI. I emailed asus about it, and they said that it all falls to nvidia and their drivers. I turned it off following I got a second graphics card and ran SLI, and I would suggest that you do the exact same. I can run six cores out of box. 140w CPU.Holds up to 16gb of RAM.Unlocks cores better than the rest.As quite a few expansion slots as I need to have. Holds two GPUs a x16 mode. Advanced core calibration is limited to unlocking cores. It is difficult to disable any cores.Turbo mode is practically impossible to accomplish.RAM is still OC'd as the CPU is. I didn't eliminate any eggs for the cons, simply due to the fact they are not necessities.

was looking for a board with moderate cost that would bring a strong system together and totally got it. thought the heat pipes were neon orange from the pictures, i'm an idiot it's copper. Not a single issue with the board full post and install without a single issue. dual x16 on sli is super being you rarely see that on most mobos. does require a 24pin psu though i though i could get away with 20 i was wrong. only lack is usb3.0 but really who needs it. all the features for oc, fan control, and more are simple. totally love this one

Had some issues regarding the BIOS. It would auto over clock my ram when I was getting some blue screen from 8-8-8-24 to 7-7-7-16. I think it maybe driver issues. I update d windows and no problem since but it only been 3 days. Love the BIOS update  system with this board. Makes things way too easy and the PCI xpress locations make it easy for installing 2 vid cards. Just wish it had better SATA and USB versions.
