ASUS Rampage III Gene Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
Comment:
This board is a bit pricey but fits my case and has all the alternatives that I would ever want on a motherboard. I replaced my stock motherboard in my FX6000-0e and the only thing missing is 1 additional usb connection on the board. Otherwise its an precise replace with updated memory speeds and a couple of other good items. I did have to RMA since of random blue screens, which I believe to be from overheating. I measured on the North and South bridge and they did appear a bit hot. Immediately after the RMA, on the new board I replaced the ASUS thermal paste with arctic silver and temps dropped almost 10C on both. My advise, if your comfy with it, is to replace the thermal paste just before the install.

Stunning board.Feature-full in such a little package.USB3 and SATAIIICFX/SLI support Does not come with the Asus ROG plug in doo-hickey like the R2G. Had a Rampage II Gene before, ended up selling it. Went back to an i7 and bought the R3G. Even much more feature filled than the previous model.i7 950 @ four.2GHzNoctua NH-D146GB G.Skill DDR3-16003x WD 500 Blues in R02x XFX 6950Silverstone DA750

Works excellent with an intel 980x cpu. Also had no difficulties recognizing all 12gig of OCZ Blade 2000 Memory. Crossfire two 5870s with out any complications. It's fast -> running i7 980x at four.4Ghz at 1.38v. Sound is great and I didn't require my SB XFI card anymore. None -> worked excellent right out of the box. Its incredible how Asus was able to incorporate alot of the overclocking utilities as nicely as the choices into this board - rog connect is cool!

ASUS Rampage III Gene Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
Cons: Zero tolorance to PCB bending

Pros: Over clocking abilityLooksFeaturesPrice
Comment:
Great board, however when I installed the EK-FB R3Gene waterblock on the mobo, the PCB was bent ever so slightly and it fried the power section to the CPU. So no quams about the board it's self, it's a great board, just wait for singular mosfet and northbridge waterbloaks.

ASUS Rampage III Gene Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
Cons: - Onboard sound not up to expectations.

Pros: - Plenty of SATA ports, including SATA3.- USB 3.0- Many overclocking options.- PWM fan headers.- Full 16x PCIe SLI slots.
Comment:
Excellent board, probably the best mATX solution on the market today for LGA1366 processors.However... do not be fooled by the SupremeFX X-Fi 2 onboard sound. I went from a dedicated X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty on my previous setup to using onboard with this as my video cards prevent any other cards from being installed. Turns out this system is simply a Via VT2020 codec with X-Fi software handling the effects on-top. It's fine for gaming, supports 128 voices and all that, but by comparison to a dedicated card, music and movies sound hollow and don't have that punch so consider a USB sound card if you're running SLI and have good headphones/speakers.But really, other than the sound, I have zero complaints concerning this board, infact I'm really thankful Asus made something of this quality and performance in a small form factor.

ASUS Rampage III Gene Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
Cons: Nothing worth reporting.

Pros: Great features and layout for a mATX, x58 chipset board. It also is the only one that presently has USB 3.0 and SATA III support, although they are separate chipsets - see weakness below re SATA III.The ASUS AI suite is a great value add.
Comment:
I decided to migrate a substantial portion of my system from an EVGA x58 SLI board in a HAF behemoth of a case to a mATX board. I opted for this board as it was the only mATX x58 board that presently has USB 3.0 and SATA III support. The build went well. This motherboard was a pleasure to work with - ASUS has really thought of everything. In fact, they are a bit ahead of themselves - for instance, they include 4-PIN fan headers with PWM, whereas just about everyone else only uses 3-PIN headers without PWM. These small details add-up to produce a great board.Great on-board HD audio with the X-Fi.I haven't done too much overclocking yet, but the BIOS contains even more options than my old EVGA x58 SLI. Plus the ASUS AI makes it really easy to overclock within the Windows environment if you are too lazy to tinker with the BIOS.ASUS AI also makes it very easy to adjust the system's cooling set-up for a very quiet and cool running performance PC.Price-wise you get great value - if you look at the ROG full size ATX equivalent, you have to pay considerably more. If you can live without the extra expansion slots, you should be very satisfied with this board.I managed to resolve my SATA III problems and now give it 5 outta 5!!!Asus Rampage III Gene LGA 1366 MotherboardIntel i7 920Corsair 6 GB DDR3 1600 Mhz2 x XFX 260 GTX Core 216 Black Ed in SLIOCZ Vertex 60 GB SSDWD Caviar Black SATA III 1TB HDDSamsung DVD BurnerSDHC Card ReaderSeasonic X650 PSUCorsair H50In Win Dragon Slayer mATX CaseWindows 7 Professional (64 bit) This review was modfied by poster @ 08-25-10 05:28 AM
