I'm upgrading from an old 19 inch CRT so it's in all probability not too tough to impress me but the picture excellent is fantastic on this monitor. the contrast among brights and darks appears pretty excellent and the color saturation is a step up from what I'm used to 1) I have 1 stuck pixel (the red type) and no quantity of tapping, massaging or cursing has managed to repair it so far. luckily there is only 1 and it's at the bottom on the very edge of the monitor so it's not too noticeable. nonetheless coming from a crt where you never have stuck/dead pixels it's annoying. I constantly locate myself consciously attempting not to appear at the on-screen blemish2) if the monitor isn't positioned straight in front of or under your field of vision you will practical experience some viewing angle problems. if it's below your field of vision you can rotate the top back a bit to address this but if it's above your field of vision (like mine is) the screen can not rotate down. also putting the monitor on a wall mount wouldn't likely fix the issue as when the monitor rotates back it can not go the full 90 degrees, only possibly 45 degrees at most, which would most likely present issues of its personal I like the image quality but the reality that the monitor has to be at or below your field of vision (since it can\'t rotate down) sort of tends to make it a moot point as the screen just about generally looks a bit dark regardless of the brightness setting. if your desk height will position the monitor above your field of vision keep this in mind

Stunning show excellent for gaming, another pro for some is that it comes with built in speakers, I never ever attempted them though. Soon after 1 year when my warranty expired the power button died and I had to turn on my monitor with the second to final button, which is weird since it was not even the energy button but it nevertheless turned it on. Then soon after two months that button died and I was left with a useless monitor. Also proper immediately after the energy button died all the buttons in the front became useless, I wasn't in a position to do something with them anymore. Obtain an extended warranty just in case any button goes out. This monitor is awesome but the top quality is not. Either Asus went low cost on the front buttons for this monitor or I was fortunate to receive a faulty monitor even although it died in one particular year, suspicious.

Got this lcd yesterday afternoon,windows 7-64 recognized it and set res to 1680 by 1050 from my GTX 480..no problems..i did alot of reading at newegg for monitors and i appear for the highest lcd's sold and this infant won..i was looking at asus's 23 inch which got excellent reviewsalso but my desktop didnt have the space and this infant fits perfect and looks good..i am totally impressed with the high quality and wonderful image that it has and i am quite fussy with wonderful looking graphics mainly because i am a gamer and visuals is where its at with any gamer..i have been playing MW2,BLACKOPS,CRYSIS.MASS Effect two and this monitor handles it all fantastic,no slowdowns,no ghosting Exceptional response times..it shows off the games Fantastic.. NONE all pixels are working and colors are Superb..!!i have the monitor set to common mode and turned down the brightness to zero and every little thing looks good..i would get an additional a single of these if this a single craps out...asus is excellent and so is my asus motherboard..i didnt know asus produced monitors..glad they do.!!

Though it doesn't come with HDMI, it still does every thing I want it to do. I at the moment use this to play games on, and stream netflix, and other points to my 42" flat plasma via HDMI from my graphics card. I do wish I would have gotten the 1920 x 1080 res version tho. I didn't actually pay focus when I bought it, but it is nice, functions nicely, and I at the moment have no negative complaints about it.It didn't come with any dead pixels or cracks, so that is a plus. If something occurs to it in the next 30 days I'll come back and let you guys know. The only unfavorable comment I could state at this moment is, out of the box at factory settings it is Particularly bright. More like burning my retinas bright. The manual that comes with the monitor is not extremely fantastic as well, appears as if they created positive they covered all languages rather than essential information, but that's not terrible enough to lower it's rating. I also wish it would swivel from side to side, or be capable to turn it vertically. The stand is a fixed stand, and that's all it does. You can tilt it forwards and backwards, but that is all the adjustment you're going to get out of it. For just a handful of more dollars further, you can get a version with HDMI and 1920x1080. I need to have noticed this first, but I like what i have, and it will do for now.

1. It's low cost. Got a rebate two. Delivered rapidly by Newegg. 1. On just about every Windows XP popup or menu dialog text the fonts are broken up. They are truly challenging to read.two. White colors (say a Google search web page) or shades of dark grey are not precise or tough to adjust. White browser pages don't look white, they search off white to bluish white no matter what monitor menu alternatives are used. My key LCD monitor that is over five years old and it is far superior as far as accurately reproducing colors.3. Pages look "washed-out" no matter what monitor settings are applied. I purchased this as a secondary monitor and use a multi-monitor setup. It fits the old saying "you get what you spend for". My principal monitor, reproduces correct colors, and menu text and browser colors are straightforward to read or pleasing. I attempted this ASUS on DVI only, so possibly VGA could fare superior. I personal a lot of other ASUS elements (motherboard, video card) and this is the initial ASUS item I've been disappointed with. I wouldn't advise this monitor for any high end technical function of any kind.

Display is gorgeous for a 22" and the timing is good. Built in speakers are mid-range, widescreen and HDCP assistance is often a plus. Slick black finish often makes ASUS look good. Newegg's RMA system doesn't look to be an situation, as it took no time to set up. Waiting for the product to make it to CA and back does blow although. I wouldn't call it a con general, as some components finish of DOA or just having troubles in common. It shipped with a dead pixel smack dab in the center. Annoying enough to RMA of program. Other than that, I really have no complaints with ASUS, ever. I've been a diehard ASUS fan considering that day one and as long as they retain up the good quality, mixed with a decent price, I will be forever.

A good monitor , a good price tag and it delivers with no any complications. Zero dead pixels, even after three moves and hundreds of hours of use. I could genuinely go for a "Buy A single, Get A single No cost" campaign for this specific monitor. This is third Asus VW224 I have bought, and it operates as flawlessly as the first one I bought a year and a half ago. Zero dead pixels in all of them, even after over a years worth of use. This monitor is as responsive as 60hz LCDs get. I was a diehard Sony CRT user before making the switch to this ASUS. I have no regrets. My FPS games, with vsync off, are as perceptively responsive as they were on my Sony CRT. The monitor also functions fine for regular productivity and net surfing. If gaming is your leading priority/concern for obtaining a new monitor, then this monitor fits your bill. Colors and brightness *must* be adjusted out of the box. Failure to do so would be a enormous error. The RGB and Overdrive settings talked about here worked nicely for me. I've also had to do a significant amount of tweaking with my ATi drivers, to get the display to look as CRT-like as achievable. The monitor is darker at the top. If your eyes are centered vertically, then the major will be noticably darker. The excellent vertical view level seems to be closer to the best of the monitor, rather than the middle. I have the monitor boosted up on a two.5" textbook. Color profiles are also not perfect for movie/TV watching, even with substantial tweaking; this is only a minor situation, though. I've been spoiled by CRTs. Bought this monitor over half a year ago. Arranging to upgrade the to 25" model from ASUS in the future. This 22" is an insane worth. I also use custom W7 font sizes, which are around 115%. In Firefox, I Ctrl+ each web page twice (and that setting is saved, per each and every subdomain).
