Cons:-Power cable is a little too short. Had to use an extension to get it plugged in across my board-A little hard to get it to stay where you set it at first.
Pros:-Very unique in its mounting and use.-Completely versatile, and can be used anywhere.-Fan adjustment for airflow vs. noise.-Cheaper than a ram cooler from other manufacturers and it cools better to boot. |

Bought this to cool my northbridge and attached it to the mb with one of the mb mounting screws. You can hear it, but not enough to really bother me. Easy to setup and aim. Cool led if you are into that. No window on my htpc case so it seems to glow a little and matches the power button on nmedia 500ba |

This fan does an awesome job. As others have stated it does a really good job at helping to keep your RAM and or NB cool. I am personally using it to help keep air moving over my RAM. As the case fans dont move enough air that high up in the case. The selectable speed switch is a nice feature, I have mine set on medium and it works well. The LED's do a fairly good job of illuminating whatever the fan is helping to cool. I would defienetely install another one of these if needed. |
I was dead set on getting either the Corsair Dominator Airflow fan or the OCZ XTC ram cooler fan to cool my 4 x 1GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer Dimms but found it risky to mount those on newer boards where the ram retention brackets already sit so close to the hitting the back of newer, longer video cards. Having the Spot Cool installed allows you to set the fan anywhere you like without risk of it getting in the way of anything. At lower speeds the Spot Cool pushes more air at lower volumes then either the Corsair or the OCZ cooler. Highly recommended when airflow is needed over a particular hot spot in your case. NB/SB, Ram, PWM etc.
