The Pc standby power button works rather nicely. Nothing at all fancy about this remote. A backlight would have been a huge plus with all these buttons. Desires a Television power button.

Functions with linksys 750 extender (or Vista Pc). Does not find out Television remote as advertised. This would be a decent remote at a fine cost if it could manage the Television.

It looks good. Hopefully newegg will operate with me on returning it. Appropriate out of the box this remote felt inexpensive. I followed the instructions and the remote seemed to perform with my program. However when I try to use it to navigate the WMC interface the arrows double tap which gets quite frustrating (doesn't matter out light or heavy I push). Was never able to get this remote into "learning mode" as described in the directions. The remote will not run my Television as described. It will not even turn it on or off. Im operating a Samsung Tv and windows vista ultimate and this issue is garbage.

I've owned numerous media center remotes over the years and this is by far the greatest media center remote for the funds. Granted, there are some higher tech remotes out there that do something from operating media center to launching a NASA satellite, but if you're looking for just a media center remote, this is it.Its sleek, black, glossy finish and strong feel are good. I wish the power button didn't turn off the computer, but rather turned off media center. Also, the remote is so significant that you can't very easily reach all of the buttons devoid of moving your hand up and down the remote. It's no difficulty for me at all because I like all of the buttons and the layout of them is perfect, but some may come across this a con. Go with it.... You actually can't beat it for the value. And for the other individuals saying that due to the fact it doesn't function with xp, it's a con..... DUH. It's a vista remote.

Setup was rapid and effortless for Windows 7 Ultimate.Operating great - significantly much better than a keyboard and mouse if using Windows Media Center capabilities. None. This is not a universal remote. Its goal is for controlling Windows Media Center.

Nice layout, functions correct out of the box. Even functions with the microsoft eHome IR transceiver. None actually. I purchased this to replaced my 5 year old microsoft media center remote. I place the included batteries in the remote, and it worked using the eHome transceiver with no doing something. Incredibly nice.

All of the buttons on the remote do what they are supposed to do in windows xp, xp 64, vista, vista 64, and in win 7 32 and 64. Remarkable! Was uncomplicated to set up, and was just as straightforward to set up for my Set Best Box with Verizon FIOS, for these of you who wonder it does perform with their STB's and just about every person else's as well, even though they are not listed in the sheet of selections if you just opt for the closest one particular to it and then test it, it must perform fine. Only con's to me are 2 factors. The remote has to be pointed pretty considerably straight at the reciever, so make positive you have a fantastic spot to location even though this is not that massive of a deal. The other is, it has no back key, when I watch television, I like to be capable to hit back to go back and forth amongst two channels, the remote does not have the key to do so although I bet there is a way to set that up. But you know, with everything else, this just doesn't matter that substantially.

Plug and play, this remote is incredibly simple to use. I only tried it in Windows 7 RC, but I don't see why it won't perform with something else. The blaster works perfectly as well, I can now control my Videotron STB with the remote. There is a second IR port on the receiver, so I may possibly try to plug another blaster and make it understand the Tv remote's codes to manage the Television. None really, the remote works as advertised. 1 factor that could be enhanced though would be to add lights to the remote, considering that most men and women would watch Television in the dark.

The remote works great if you are employing it with Vista or Windows 7. Out of the box it will load drivers for these operating systems. NOT for Windows XP nevertheless. The style of the remote is fairly standard as MCE remotes goes and has an OK feel.I was capable to setup a ultra lite install of Windows XP Pro on a two.4Ghz P4 with 512Mb of Ram and an Nvidia FX 5200 to run a remote HTPC (Beyond Television Link) that is capable of playing HD 1080i video. Applied nLite to trim down the XP Install and let for far better efficiency yielding smooth HD video playback. Poor description on the NewEgg web page appears to allude to the remote being in a position to 'learn' other remote codes to power your Television on and off. You Cannot do this with this remote even though the instruction manual has the steps to do so, these steps state that your model may assistance IR studying on the remote. No XP Drivers are readily readily available Even so there are workarounds.IR Blaster so far is unreliable in XP using Event Ghost to trigger the blaster to send commands to my Television. I'm looking at a serial control selection as an alternative. For those that are unsure how to get this remote to operate on XP you ought to look over at the Event Ghost internet site. It tells how to manually edit the IRBUS.INF file (already on your Windows XP machine) so that it will load the native drivers constructed into XP for the eHome remotes (which this remote is an OEM Microsoft eHome). Google "MCE Remote Drivers for Windows XP" and look at Choice three for how to set up the remote in XP by manually editing the IRBUS.INF file - it requires only a few seconds to edit the file and then you are very good to go (you'll need to have Occasion Ghost (free) under XP Household or XP Pro to map remote events to commands - operates good).

Good colored control, HTPC oriented. It also puts the Pc to sleep and wakes it up. Green button to starts MCE. Couldn't uncover a way to program the green button for anything else than MCE. I had to disable MCE to use MediaPortal otherwise they would conflict, but that is normal. I purchased this manage for the IR receiver which I use with a Harmony 550. My HTPC is constructed with MediaPortal on Windows 7 and everything is operating perfectly with each, the Anyware and Harmony controls. The only factor I could not system yet is the green button which starts MCE as an alternative of MediaPortal. I actually use each controls as I enjoy the MyTV, MyPic, and so on. buttons on the Anyware, which I don't have on the Harmony.

It has a fairly awesome appear to it and performs with Media Center out of the box. I don't like Media Center personally so I was pleased to uncover I could use it with XBMC (the greatest media center selection, hands down) working with a combination of the programs Event Ghost and IR Server Suite. It has a decent quantity buttons which was great for when I remapped it for my Pc. It also comes with a wire to make it an IR blaster. General fairly fantastic remote. The major problem I have with this is that it's an off brand version of a controller I can't recall that name also now (sorry) and that made it actually hard to figure out how to get it to do some stuff given that the presets for the name brand control don't seem to operate for this.....even although they are the precise similar thing. Often it sends double buttons presses based on how hard I press the button. I haven't really figured out if that's a problem with the manage itself or the IR receiving software program but either way it annoys me. It was truly tough to figure out how to get it to cease sending signals to Media Center because I don't use that system and don't want it beginning each time I press a button in XBMC. The manage is also really long, so I have to keep adjusting my grip on it in order to get to all the buttons. I hate a different remote that came with a Tv tuner I bought and this is heads and shoulders above that since it can be programmed by way of Occasion Ghost unlike the other a single. I'll give it 5 stars considering that it does do every thing it's supposed to do even although it is sort of hard to get it to do some of the added stuff.

It controls your Computer well. Does not do what the description says it will. It WILL control a set leading box via the IR Blaster soon after a setup method in Windows Media Center. It will NOT control a Television. It can not send an IR signal straight to any other electronic devices. The directions in the box are not even for this remote. And there are no included directions on how to set up the set-top box control. The remote is of a great develop excellent. I have owned the 1 just like this a single that doesn't have IR blasters (a handful of dollars less). I'd give it five stars for what it says it does and does. This remote works the very same way. It's only the description and directions that come in the box lead you to think you could somehow manage a tv with this product, and that is just not the situation.

Plug and Play in Vista. Hell, it even controls the Xbox 360. Feels solid, button layout is intuitive as soon as you get employed to it. I can't figure out how to make the four colored buttons on the bottom do anything. But i don't actually care, simply because I don't know what I'd do with them :P Great option to the microsoft remotes.

Cons:-remote feels like a toy-only works with windows media center which is not the best software-not all the buttons work (probably media center side)-usb extension cable is short-keys are not programable

Pros:-gives you the option to shut down pc with a remote-okay for a media center-lots of buttons
Comment:
For $10 how could I go wrong? It sorta works and all I really wanted was a way to remotely turn off my pc cause I am too lazy to get up. Media center is not the greatest software... Some video types like mkv can not be played.

This remote has been practically plug and play for me in Mythbuntu ten.10. It plays very nicely with lirc and is entirely configurable. The default button mapping set up by Mythbuntu has worked okay, but I will probably begin playing with options and customize it to my liking more than time. There are lots of people that have posted their lirc setup on the internet for MythTV and other applications (I'm utilizing it in VLC, as well). A lot of data to get you began. As other individuals have stated, the item description is a bit misleading. The remote is not a mastering remote. The receiver pod simply has a couple of ports for IR blasters, which can be run up to a set top box (or supposedly some other devices?). I have this hooked up to my tv, but I have not however tried setting it up. The 1st factor I did after getting this item was void the warranty! Cracked open the remote, pulled out the Windows logo button, scraped off the logo and replaced it with a Mythbuntu logo. ;)Also, for these who might be interested: the pod pops open very easily enough, revealing the PCB with the IR receiver. I may or may not do this myself, but you could easily integrate this into a case as an internal remote. Just drill a hole for the IR receiver and figure out how to mount the PCB inside. A cable could be discovered or created to connect the mini-USB port to an internal USB header.

Does an exceptional job of controlling win7 media center. Buttons a tiny also close compared to the Microsoft remote, continuously hitting two buttons at after. As well light and tall. This model does not handle Tv power like is stated in the facts. I must have reviewed the feedback far more as I would have not purchased this 1 due to not being able to turn my Television power on/off. My favorite is nevertheless the Microsoft remote that can handle Television power, as well bad it isn't obtainable anymore.
