This remote feel solid and nicely created. It's quite responsive to the touch and buttons really feel The layout is not so good. Some of the buttons, like the channel guide are pretty small. The volume buttons are weird shaped. Some of the button sizes are going to take some getting utilised to, otherwise a solid remote

Functions fantastic with Linux. Tons of buttons. Remote looks nice and feels good in hand. Receiver responds quickly and barely uses any technique resources. Receiver demands a slightly longer cord to be used in most set-ups. Only used in Linux (with LIRC), and it functions excellent. I can't imagine that it wouldn't function properly in Windows.

VMC compatable, Harmony has this specific remote in its database, easy setup. Cost is great compared to the competition. Randomly blinking red light on IR receiver. Occasionally it blinks when you enter a command, but it seems to blink randomly even when you aren't entering commands. I've learned to ignore it, but could see how some folks would be pretty annoyed by that. Employed the remote long adequate to test it, can't speak to the remote usability. Harmony does have this remote in its database, so it was easy to set up my 550 to run my HTPC.

IR transmit works fairly nicely with the newest svn of LIRC (in linux) thanks to jarod. Receiver functions out of the box with XBMC-Live 9.04. Worked wonderful.I was able to manage my Television, HTPC, and Roku all from one remote (I wrote some scripts and modified my lirc.rc file by hand). It can be performed but its not for a novice. No qwerty keyboard. The remote stopped sending any IR (I checked with my Wiimote) I sent an e-mail to the RMA and Tech support departments. I've had it much less than 6 months. Not pleased about it dying but I will update this (if I can) when and if they replace it. IR transmit support in linux nonetheless wants work. I don't have a windows box to test it on so I didn't.

Fantastic button layout. Good feel. Functions great. None. I knew this wasn't a universal remote. I don't expect it to control my entire entertainment center. I use it just for the HTPC for now. To get it to function with XBMC I utilised EventGhost and mapped the keystrokes. Works excellent.

Clearly operates nicely with Windows Media Player, but it does an exceptional job controlling XBMC from Ubuntu. I utilized LIRC to configure it, and it works like a charm. This remote has exceptional range Not all of the buttons function on Ubuntu, such as the numbers.

Recognised out of the box with W7 RC Has an irritating double click concerns. So if I arrow more than to a DVD title as an example, I skip past it, then attempt to arrow back and it goes the other way. All the buttons do not function either. I had to download another program to allow me to asign buttons, but with the double click concern and inability to manage Television volume, I decided to put it back in the box. I was hoping to get rid of the mouse on my HTPC, but am stuck with using 1.

If you are looking for a remote to operate with Mythbuntu 10.10, this 1 works wonderful. I set Mythbuntu to work with a Windows MCE remote, and everything except for one click access(white buttons) worked right away. You have to set up the one click buttons manually, but that is in portion mainly because Mythbuntu doesn't define those either. I'll put directions for setting up the white buttons on the ubuntu forums. Search for GP-IR02BK None

good seeking remote, plug and play with vista. from the sound of it, the remote will function with Linux, although I haven't confirmed this myself. Be certain to read the specifications closely. This remote will not perform with XP. My plan was to use this remote with XP and a third party media center front finish. XP wont recognize the IR receiver, so even use with third party applications on XP wont work. Switched over to Vista and the receiver worked.

Durable, effortless setup (plug it in). Ready for MC with out any effort or fuss. The remote has no illumination, so using it in a dark room can be frustrating. Which brings me to my only actual complaint: there are too numerous buttons with quite a few serving no purpose in various modes of use (ie. Television, DVD, Radio, Video, and so on.) For example, the typical navigation scenario for a uncomplicated DVD knowledge: 1) Press Media Center Button -or- Press the tiny button labeled DVD on the leading row of 8 buttons. These is incredibly hard to read and you'll most likely forget which one of these tiny buttons is DVD, Tv, Radio, etc. Navigation of a DVD menu is unique from the directional pad that is utilized to control the volume and channel.. which is unique from the directional pad utilized to fast forward, skip, pause, etc. To pause a movie, turn the volume up, or to navigate the menu, you need to use Ƨ* different directional pads, all with slightly diverse layouts. You'll consistently be hunting for the suitable position, and using this in the dark takes some effort. If they managed to merely combine 1 D-pad for each function, switching among functions depending on context, it would be best. Did you press proper though a DVD is playing? That's a skip. Did you press up? That's volume.

Works particularly properly. Comes with IR Blaster. WMC with Windows 7 recognizes it with no drivers or anything and every thing (including the IR blaster with stupid set-top box that the cable organization recently started requiring) works perfectly. Incredibly pleasantly surprised with the result. None The remote has words as well as icons on the buttons. Until this it was incredibly tough to get my wife to use the WMC. Now she has produced peace with WMC.

it's affordable and it worked for a even though. Following a few months of use, buttons started dieing one at a time. Thankfully I was using it with MythTV so i just remapped buttons as they died. After virtually a year of use, though, there are quite couple of working buttons left. It's a extremely strange issue. Maybe this was just a faulty remote but I in all probability will not acquire it once more.

Contoured remote feels nice in your hand, buttons are "mostly" positioned well. Works nicely proper out of the box. Guide button mixed in with "TV," "Video," "DVD," and other function button makes swiftly finding to the guide a bit of a hassle (I'm confident I'll get utilized to it. While the remote is sturdy it is Really light giving the illusion of becoming low cost.

Vista & Media Center liked it proper away. Its unique from my Hauppauge remote, all sleek and stylish and such. I wish these factors had full screen/ minimize buttons. But that's just a Windows gripe. My fingers took a week or so to memorize the new button placements (tv watching takes place in the dark).

Plugged in the IR receiver, Win7 installed the drivers itself, and the remote works just good, no muss/fuss. Controls WMC, controls both the blu-ray drive and DVD drive with the Power DVD 8 computer software. The IR reveiver could be a tad smaller. Some posters have mentioned this doesn't function with Win7. Don't know why they're having troubles, for me Win7 Property Premium 64bit recognized the remote and installed drivers just fine.

Buttons work properly, soft. Fantastic range with included IR sensor. Works terrific with MCE (Vista or 7). Is supported by Logitech's Harmony on the web service (a couple of buttons will need correcting). Had difficulty programming head-to-head with a universal remote.

it works wonderful for what it is like others have mentioned before me. seriously 20 secs from plugging it in to employing it (Vista). it is very responsive and works like it ought to. I like the button setup...they appear to be grouped logically together so its effortless to understand for night use. the points that would make this perfect: back lit keys, the capability to understand at least Tv power...the manual included tells you about most of the buttons( mostly the ones that are no brainers like the play button) but like others have mentioned it talks about other models ( havent noticed if it even specifies which models) that do other things...on the box, it hints of a back lit and rf version...and 1 that has restricted learning...exactly where is that 1? from what i could uncover...its the ideal 25 dollar remote out there for media center...
