Sound is improved from onboard Realtek chip. Drivers and software program are quite awful and cumbersome to install. Because installing the drivers/software I now get a "beep" when Windows loads. Overall, good hardware for the value. Creative just produces second-rate software program for their items it seems.

excellent sound excellent at a good cost. onboard just isn't that excellent. since i generate music on a tiny scale this is nice to have and because its creative, you know its great top quality. i can only think about how their much more pricey cards sound. I'm low-cost so i may never ever know :P it doesn't cure cancer... I've read reviews about individuals saying it doesn't work with sp3 but i have sp3 and it operates fine. so perhaps you guys having challenges with it must go into your device manager and update all your drivers. and if that doesn't operate, i dont know what to tell you. I've generally gone with creative in sound cards. in fact i have an old AWE ISA card from ྛ i believe :P.:BUY THIS CARD:.

The card is *excellent* when the drivers perform. I use this card with FL Studio to create audio. When the drivers operate, this card is quite very good where most of the sound processing is completed by the card and not by the CPU. The *incredibly annoying* aspect of this card is that the drivers, and especially the "feature" to mute speakers when you plug in your headphones is terribly buggy - often to the point of muting your speaker output entirely on my Windows 7 partition. I know it's a driver matter because when I boot into Linux, sound operates perfectly making use of Linux stock drivers. I have to screw with the thing for hours and hours to get it to operate suitable. And yes, I comprehend there is a "disable headphone detection" solution - it doesn't function. Fantastic card, but drivers royally suck.

functions no bass & treble controls. "cmon creative" ever because the SB16 soundblasters have had a bass & treble controls {well not on some oem's} i dont like to install EQ software or some of the other software so i miss the bass & treble controls. but for the price tag it will work because of the lack of bass & treble controls i will have to get an upgrade soon, but i dont know if i can trust creative any far more i mean a Audigy with no bass & treble controls. to me that sounds very sorry. i just wonted something to replace onboard sound and thats ALL i got. ps: wish thay still produced AUDIGY 4's my old 1 rocked

This card works good on XP Household AS Long AS YOU DON'T HAVE Something A lot more THAN SP2 ON YOUR pc. I have a Logitech Z5500 sound system and it's Wonderful. Needless to say, if you have XP Household on your personal computer, your are going to have SP3 on it as effectively. You would think that the firm would make a patch for it, but it's pretty clear they have no intention of performing so. It also goes with out saying that must you have Vista H.E. with SP1, sooner or later Microsoft is going to come out with SP2 for it as well. So rather of wasting your money on Sound Blaster on what they are unwilling to do and just make patch for it, obtain ASUS instead and let SB keep their excuses to themselves. none

sound excellent isnt bad (definately far better than onboard) modest, worth the funds (see other thoughts) small pricey for me (see other thoughts) doesnt have the hd audio connector on it for like front panels and stuff i was utilizing it as a temporary card till i got my new mobo and got a pcix sound card but didnt want to not have sound for a long time... but if u program on keeping it for awhile its a great obtain

sounds better than onboard immediately after you update you can\'t use it. Just won't let you customize alternatives at all. Possibly the vista drivers will work i have not tried that however.

Creative Technologies Works fantastic for listening. To this day I can not get the mic port to work in any program. When it does perform it sounds full of echo's and tough to realize. Most days though it doesn't work at all. Ended up re-enabling on-board sound card which produced greater efficiency more than all. I was slowly building a laptop at the time so I was unable to return the product as it was technically out of warranty even tho the box had just been opened. :(

It fits nice, doesn't obstruct SLI 8800GTs. Working with Vista 32bit Company; didn't bother with CD, went straight to web site for drivers. Suggested for Vista users. I notice a less fullness to my sound compared to board audio. Making use of M2n-SLI Deluxe from Asus. Sound is louder by way of mobo, bass is far more booming, maybe the highs are a bit lacking but I prefer my Mobo audio to this card! I utilised this card in a Dell originally with terrible on board support and no digital out (what I use for headphones and amplifier to 5.1). It fits into my PC If there is spdif as stated in Neweggs specs I can not figure out how to use it. The other Audigy SE model that Newegg stocks states that to get spdif you need the digital I/O module. I figured I would get one and then I would have spdif in and out in each optical and coax. The modules are out of stock at creative and via emails they will not give a date for availability. Now to add insult to injury I have upgraded to Vista 32 and discover that this card now has Vista drivers but they do not permit the card to perform anywhere near as very good as it did in Windows XP. The folks at creative expect us to upgrade to a newer card even although this card can do it all as confirmed by some dude in Brazil who tweaked the Vista software program. I should have read the critiques a lot more carefully. I would have purchased a DIAMOND XtremeSound XS71 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface Sound Card with coax spdif in and out.

Cheap The latest XP drivers for this card are from 2007. When installed it fails its own sound diagnostics and nothing on the soundblaster website can be discovered to fix it

This is my second time purchasing this sound card the other 1 was bought in 08 is operating fantastic in my 14 year old daughters computer and it gets lots of use, think me. The installation was easy in windows 7 64bit, there internet web page had newer drivers than there installation disk, over all no troubles. The user interface ( Audio control panel) is actually lame for Windows 7 64 bit, it looks quite primitive there are hardly any adjustments its amazing it sounds as excellent as it dose. The card I bought in 08 is running XP 32bit and has a significantly much better user interface with an EQ and with actual sound adjustments to actually fine tune the sound coming from your speakers. Perhaps the next driver up dates for 7 64bit will consist of some of those alternative's as properly. Its a good product and you cant beat the price. As often Newegg Rocks, with lots of alternatives and quick, quickly, rapidly processing and shipping.

It gets the job done. It is a no frills added sound card. IT has support for up to 7.1 channel surround sound and playback is excellent excellent. So far it has had no impact on games, reducing FPS or taking CPU usage like some xound cards could do. I don't know about running it in Vista as I am still working with XP but it has done nicely so far. It is less expensive at walmart. There is no shipping if you go to the shop and purchase it, also. I bout it for something like ten dollars in store.

Nice little sound card by a reputable business, it does its job for over three years now. Excellent connections... great sound, absolutely nothing to definitely complain about. Except.. the software that comes with it is annoying. Just install the driver and you're great, no require for that bloatware non-sense. Avoids onboard sound, I'd get another if this one ever died on me.

good card and worked for me out of the box with Win7 detecting and installing drivers and no issues with setup nothing actually I read the reviews of the difficulties with Windows 7 on this and other products and have not had the concerns they have. There are workarounds for driver problems and other problems that could arise, but this is a solid card so far and am enjoying it more than the flat onboard sound I did have.

Excellent cost and efficiency. Wasn't no cost... I buy these for use with Camtasia. This is 1 of the only sound cards I have identified that will enable Camtasia Studio (any version) to record what plays by way of the speakers instead of what is heard by way of the mic. I bought 10 of them and not 1 has been poor. Appreciate NEWEGG!

I get decent sound from an old PC. I bought mine at Walmart for 15 bucks! None so far. I'm working with this card in my old PC that had no onboard sound when i picked it up from school; Pentium III 1000Mhz, 256MB RAM, Maxtor 30GB. Extremely easy install, no driver problems with Windows XP Pro SP3 32x. Does not impact method performance! Coupled with Pioneer SC-07 Reciever and Electro-Voice Interface B speakers (from 1973!), the windows in my residence rattle in sync with this card!!!!!!!

This card went in smoothly without having any issues. The updating and drivers went on smoothly as well. This card works excellent with XP. I have not tried it with Vista as some others are complaining to have problems with. The sound is clean and for the cost it is a deal. Doesn't have fancy software program or connections. Not really a con for me or you unless you are trying to do advanced musical function. Excellent card for cost and people today wanting to save cash whilst building a personal computer.

Price. Makes my ten year old Altec Lansing 880's sing, thumping bass, fairly clear sound. Surround choices work nicely (sorta wish I hadn't lost my tweeter bases from the 880's) Some distortion at Very HIGH noise levels....we're talking maxed volume here. If I would have been able, would only have dropped a half egg, but I knew this wasn't a "top of the line" card when I bought. This card genuinely handles what I can throw at it really nicely. No ghosting, no sound delays, just good solid CLEAR sound. At lengthy as the single send to the card remains at or under 90% gain, it should not distort.

I ordered this card yesterday at 1pm, and I received it right now at 10am with three day fundamental shipping. WOW! This is why I return to newegg for over 6 years. The card drivers installed on a Asus p5gpl-x mobo running microsoft XP pro sp3. No problems with drivers what-so-ever. Card slipped into PCI slot smooth, and delivered awsome sound. A very good obtain for the price!
