NAS Value Powerhouse
Comment:
Very nice unit for the price. Performance and build quality are outstanding, config menus are a little klunky but you eventually figure out how to navigate them. The FTP server works perfectly. The iTunes server is really nice and is a great way to keep your MP3 files physically seperate from your local iTunes library while allowing iTunes to serve them up thru the Sharing feature. I would highly recommend this NAS.

Excellent Product! $90 is a steal for this!
Comment:
During the initial setup I had trouble accessing the FTP from the Internet, but I believe this is because I have three routers daisy chained. Once I reconfigured all three routers the FTP worked excellently. The features of the DNS-321 are numerous and the only reason I did not give it all 5.0's is because when it is in Hibernation the first attempt to access the FTP server sometimes times-out. However, if you turn off the power saving features this lag would no longer occur. Overall this is an excellent product and a fantastic value at only $90 after mail-in rebate.

Great for the price
Comment:
A really nice NAS for the price. Operation is easy and performance is fine. I was surprise with the built quality, a lot of metal, it feels sturdy. As it runs linux, it can be easily upgraded and new features can be installed. The only problem encountered was the format operation getting stuck at 94%. I quick firmware upgrade (from 1.0 to 1.03) fix the problem and it has been running great since.

Very good product
Comment:
This is a very good Network attached storage solution. I use it to store my photos, music, videos and personal documents on the network and access them via our 2 laptops. It works smoothly. Setup was easy. The feature that I was looking for especially besides the storage is that this device has power management options where in the device hibernates the harddrive after 5 minutes(default) of inactivity. The hard drives wakes up when a volume accessed. Great product for $90. You have flexibility to put any amount of disk storage and use Raid0 or 1. I use it for Raid 1 because I want redundant backup. Great Product. for the Price.
Comment:
I bought this because my external hard drive crashed, literally. This is great because I can go wireless and also run RAID. The originally CD that was sent was damaged. I set it with online support and also received a new CD from D-Link a few days later.

Great NAS; horrible customer service
Comment:
Purchased 2 1TB drives along with this NAS for home business backup. Drives easily installed in NAS. Hooked the NAS to the network and it fired up. However, included software disk was cracked and would not install. Called dLink customer service TWICE trying to resolve this. Basic software for this NAS could be downloaded from website; however, included backup software no longer available. dLink's solution: you're just out of luck. Called this site TWICE and explained problem and was put on hold both times. After about 15 minutes on hold I was disconnected--both times. In frustration, gave up. To add insult to injury, the hard drives I bought less than 4 days ago are selling for $10 less today! If it weren't for crappy customer service on both ends, I would rate this NAS a 5 across the board. First bad experience with this site's customer service and I'm greatly disappointed!

Such a deal!
Comment:
Easy to implement. Just follow the directions from the software provided. Can be configured to power down to standby mode when not in use and powers back up automatically. Has advanced features but the documentation provided doesn't go into much detail. Guess that's why they're ADVANCED. Just the same, if you know what those features are they are just as easy to use.

D-Link DNS-321 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure
Cons:some problems with P2P

Pros:Compact construction, friendly interface
Comment:
Compact construction, friendly interface with a lot of options, waiting for new firmware to fix some bugs, but good choice for the price I paid (rebate)

Perfect; works exactly as intended
Comment:
Literally set's up in minutes. Even though I don't have gigabit LAN it can stream 1080p videos via a wired 100Mbps connection without a hitch. There are two features missing compared to the DNS-323: 1) no USB to be used as a printer port and, 2) no bit torrent software. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants centralized storage without tinkering with servers or home networks.

great value and features for the price
Comment:
Crazy easy to setup, literally took 3 or 4 minutes. Plug the drives in, Windows automatically detects the new uPNP device and there are a few simple setup steps for how you want to setup RAID. If I had to nitpick, the iTunes server seems like a wasted of a feature. Documentation isn't really great and as far as I've looked, you can't stream any tunes bought from iTunes. I haven't tried the backup software it ships with and just use the built in backup with XP and Win7.

Great Entry Level 2-Bay Storage Device
Comment:
I purchased 2 1.5 TB Hard drives to go into this puppy, and was super excited once it arrived. The DNS-321 would not recognize them until I had updated to the latest firmware. Now it runs like a champ and I have so much room to spare. Highly Recommended!

Good value for the price

I found the NAS to be a decent value. A little sluggish in transfer rate, but otherwise, I am satisfied with the purchase. As others have stated, make sure that you update the firmware.

Not a bad device...good price
Comment:
Device was really easy to setup. only downside is that I bought this primarily to be a media server to my 360. And while it does see the device and is able to view and play most files, some of the files it just doesn't recognize or refuses to play; however, I have no problems playing any of my files when i try going from a USB stick. So i'm not really sure why some files work on the usb but not from the NAS, haven't figured that one out

At first, I had alot of firmware problems, but after getting the last release this works like a charm. Even if a little buggy some times the torrent add-on is a must.

94% hang
Comment:
I have two 1.5tb Seagate HD, using RAID 1 feature. when I first started the system up with the drives installed the system said they where -1gb in size and when I tried to format them with the unit it would hang at 94%. A quick search on the net and I found the 1.03 firmware. it is a very simple (monkeys and watermelons could do this) upgrade. now everything is great nice design well built and not my data is safe. !!note!! don't fool yourself

This Unit is out-of-date
Comment:
I purchased the DNS-321 on January 12, 2010. The firmware was over 1 year old. I wasted 4 hours trying to format 2 WD 500GB drives, with the unit always hanging at 94%. This is a known issue at D-Link, yet they ship the drives with outdated firmware. If you buy, plan on alot of extra time upgrading the firmware. Thx Greg

Nearly Perfect
Comment:
Works well as a video library, delivering video to players through a home network. The transfer rate is limited by the network (50-100 Megabits) considerable slower than USB2, but they do not require a server, except to initialize and load the files. I suggest backup to a standard drive, since the enclosure uses its own formatting.

I like it
Comment:
The unit is really solid. I'm a mac guy and it took me a few minutes to figure out how to use it. Once I figured out the ip, connected to the server, and clicked on the goweb link, I could figure out how to set it up. It's a very slow transfer rate, but as I read somewhere, turning off the itunes server increased the transfer rate considerably. Overall I'm very pleased with this item.

Good value
Comment:
Entry level network storage is great for the home network. Installed 2 1TB WD drives, on a gagabit home network. Fast and quiet. Serves iTunes, and has basic ftp access over the internet. Needed firmware update, but no issues upgrading.

Not for novices but does the job
Comment:
Overall satisfied with this product but it has a few issues. First of which is not being able to recognize large hard drives. New firmware fixed that, but it is typical of D-Link products in that their firmware, drivers and software are lagging behind and their documentation is sketchy. Novice users might have a lot of difficulty setting up but once up and running it is a good product for the price.

Very product - Great deal
Comment:
I got my $100 worth here. Product was a bit tricky to install. It conflicted with my ZoneAlarm sw. I found two web site forums with a lot of discussion. Most people will have to be a bit handy to install and get the best performance from this otherwise very good product.

Setup was super easy. Started copying pictures to the unit within 30 minutes and GBs of data transfers quickly. It looks nice on the desktop next to the router too.
