Beware of Rebate scam
Comment:
Don't buy it BECAUSE of the rebate. I was denied mine recently. They claimed I didn't send the UPC code. The postcard they sent asks for me to send them the UPC code. I would have to ask them for it back in order to send it to them again. Assume you will NOT get the rebate then decide whether or not to buy this product.

Died after two days
Comment:
Worked great for 2 days, then disappeared from the network. Rebooted network, no luck. Same story using software. I have an expensive paperweight. I admit I haven't taken the time to call tech support, but I shouldn't have to if the product was robust.

Does everything I bought it for
Comment:
This is the second one I've purchased for different systems and both do exactly what I bought them for. I needed a quick and easy way to back up critical data and, with the software that comes with it, it works just as I had hoped.

Great Offline Storage
Comment:
This is my second of these units. The first has 2 x 1Tb and the second has 2 x 1.5Tb. The unit is great and is pretty quiet. It has a ton of features like hard drive standby. The only complaint I have (and it is a very very minor one) is that the write speed of this drive is very slow. I have it set to MAX speed and yet it only seems to write at a max of 15mb per sec. Other than that the read speed is just fine to play HD movies from it (which is what I have it for). You'll be able to read and write to these drives form any computer on your network which is great! this allows you to keep your media contant seperate from your OS (so when you have to flash your OS you can do it withouth worrying about effecting your media.

D-Link with 2 2T Hitachi drives
Comment:
This is my second D-Link DNS-321 I purchased. the unit works great, be sure to upgrade the firmware before starting. The only issue I had was that I changed the volume name after coping 700 gigs to the unit, and it wiped out all the data, so read the directions close. the software for the network setup works great.

Great Network Backup Drive
Comment:
15 minutes after opening the box, backuping had begun. Setup was a breeze, Mapping drive was easy. This drive will do self diag's and email you the results as well as a bunch of other things. I bought this with 2 500G drives and feel that it was a great deal. Unit is quiet and has a powersaver mode that works well. I Like this so well, that this is the first review I've ever written.

Does the job well
Comment:
I always worried if I lost my hard drive that I'd lose valuable files. I set mine up in Raid 1 and I feel a little better knowing I've got my stuff backed up. It's also nice to have the FTP server so I can access my stuff without having my main computer running with an FTP server all the time. Good value and a little peace of mind.

Works As Advertised
Comment:
The NAS works perfectly for what I am needing it for. I am working on setting up the FTP server now but hooked up to my network, I can access everything I need from any computer, wired or wireless. For the price, you can't beat this. Have it set up in RAID formate so if I need to up the disc sizes, just replace one, mirror it, then replace the other and I now have a larger NAS. Easy to setup and follow the instructions, you will have no problems.

Don't buy this if you're looking for speed
Comment:
In Feb I bought a MBWEII, and in March I got a deal on this DNS-321. Feature for feature, I would have to say the DNS-321 is superior. I'm on my 3rd mybook world, as it has a continuing problem of lost mapping that I can't resolve. The DNS though has a major flaw of its own. Super, super slow transfer rates. I changed my switch gigabit and network card both dlink, and made sure that both items supported jumbo frames enabled on the 321 also. Only to be massively disappointed that the DNS can't get speeds any better than 13mbs. That's pathetic. The MBWE has speeds in excess of 34mbs.. Same hardware. Both units have identical RAID 1 2 TB WD Green drives. If you're looking to back up your system onto the DNS. Don't. It takes about 8-9 hours to transfer about 500 gigs of info. I can't recommend this to anyone. It's good for small jobs, but if you're looking for a small network or home NAS, keep looking. It's not worth the money.

Good deal for storing stuff at home
Comment:
This product is an excellent value (especially with the rebate). The web setup is simple and offers more options than I required, the unit seems to be well constructed (although the front plate removal was a bit clunky). The one thing this unit needs the most is 1 Gb LAN - 100 Mb is an oversight these days for trying to stream HD movies and such. But for simple energy efficient sharing of photos and some data or software it works great.

Good small Ready NAS solution
Comment:
I use it to mirror some important files we use in the office. To access it for the first time it takes a minute for the drives to fire up but once they are running very fast even on a 100mpbs wired network. Could use a little bit better user interface. Some of the settings can be buried and a little confusing to get the hang of. No complaints would highly recommend.

Quick, Hackable, Good Value
Comment:
Many folks complain about the performance of this device. I've pushed it to approx. 125Mbs doing a simple robocopy backup of My Documents. No jumbo packets or any tweaks. No, it's not 1000Mbs, but let's be realistic this isn't an enterprise-class NAS. Unit is easily hackable. Search dns-321 fun plug for info. FTP two fun plug files to the root of Volume1, reboot, telnet in -- poof, root prompt, no password. BE VERY CAREFUL if you do not install 2 drives immediately. I put in a spare 300GB drive the day it arrived and copied a few hundred GB of backup data to the device. Yesterday my Sam sung 1TB arrived, I threw it in, as expected I got a prompt to format the device - check. Reboot - check. I logged into the Admin page after the reboot and I'm prompted AGAIN to format? Hmm, ok - check. Little did I know, that was formatting the OLD DRIVE. I lost all my data, luckily it was backup.

Excellent for the price
Comment:
This unit is very easy to install. The web interface is complete and easy to understand. I had to use the start, run, open: (Backslash backslash (ip address of the Nas)) in order to find it on one of my computer. I am using 2 hitachi 1TB in Raid 1. Although, this product is not a speed monster, upgrading to a

A good home file and media server
Comment:
I have 2 of these units, one setup in just a bunch of disks, the other in raid1. Both units work flawlessly but a little slow at 6.5-8.73mb sec. As a media and file server both units are performing excellent.

Great Product and Nicely Priced
Comment:
The NAS device is at great price and has lots of options. It was very easy to setup and I had the FTP up and running in a matter of minutes. I am running RAID 1 with 2 1TB drives. It's a great feeling in knowing my data is secure and being mirrored to a backup drive. I read earlier reviews regarding the device having an access delay after hibernation. This feature can be disabled via the D-Link webpage settings. The device has a default setting to hibernate after 5 up to 30 minutes when not being used. I disabled this feature and there is no delay when I access my files. If you are pondering whether or not to purchase this device for your home network, ponder no more. The DNS-321 is worth is weight in gold. You will not be disappointed.

Nice NAS
Comment:
The implementation was very easy, basically plug & play. It is fast, looks good and has a real nice entry price. I run mine in RAID 1 w 1.5 TB and I can sleep now knowing all my eggs are safely in 2 baskets. I had a little problem with the user setup, still working through that but it's probably just because I never read instructions. Otherwise, it's a true must have nowadays as most people have networks and this thing can do lots of cool stuff besides just being a NAS... it has FTP, is a DHCP server if you want... lots more. Well done.

I'm getting a second one
Comment:
This product works as advertised and is fully up to the specs provided by the manufacturer. I installed dual 1Tb drives and configured the unit as RAID-1. Excluding format time, I and was able to set it up and access the unit in less than 20 minutes. It does run a bit slow at times, but that is mainly due to my router. Strongly recommend that this product be installed on top of a 802.11n router, specially if you plan on streaming audio content. If you are streaming movies to your home theater, hardwire your viewing equipment to the router. The DNS-321 has trouble keeping up sometimes, but then again, it probably was not designed with this purpose in mind. And at this price, I can afford to add another unit to my network, to isolate and secure my business data. So I broke open my two 250Gb MyBook units, and will place them into a second DNS-321 to store my work files. Well done, D-Link.

Great Value
Comment:
Got it set up with two 1.5TB Seagate hard drives in RAID and working in short time frame with no hassle. Would recommend it to anyone that wants a NAS. It is a little slow when it is waking up, but the power saving mode saves energy and hard drive life. Streams to a media player via wireless N very nicely.

Good product at a fair price after rebate
Comment:
Had a hard time making it connect at 1Gb, the only way it recognized the 1GB connection was to directly attach it to the computer through a cross-over cable, and then taking it off auto and forcing it to always connect at 1Gb. Transfer rates did not get any better, pretty slow in the 12KB range at best. Other shortcomings are in regards to the limitations of the AV server that can only index, share a single share, so say if you keep your pictures, videos and music files in separate shares, you can only make one available to your other networked AV devices. It's a decent backup solution.

Great Product; Good Deal from TG

Have not had any problems with it--which is always a plus in the computer world. Works fast and installed easily. I wish the autobackup software could be used to sync computers; since that's what i bought it for. Yet to try FTP or user accounts

This was my first network drive
Comment:
Overall this is pretty good bang for your buck, but I couldn't really get the FTP working (probably because of firewall settings). Initially the firmware update was a little confusing, and the interface didn't update new settings, but after a bit of tweaking I got it to work alright. I found the instructions on the manual and the interface help a bit vague though.

D-Link DNS-321 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure
Cons:cannot change volume names unless it's hacked and used as a Linux PC

Pros:compact, silent, sleek design, hackable
Comment:
I would recommend this device to anyone.I already have baught the DNS-323 (special bundled with 2TB drive) because I am very satisfied with this.I am the guy who gave a VERY BAD review on the Eagle Consus. The case is very sturdy. The whole cover is removable so no "cheap hinges" problems with this device. It's totally silent. My ASUS EAH5670 makes more noise then this.
