Soon after having a couple of those USB plugin wireless items burn up on me after a couple of months of use, I decided to go back to a wireless PCI card. I've had one of these for a year and it nonetheless functions great. I just purchased a different. As part of setup the card scans for networks in your neighborhood. The card discovered so quite a few networks, I had to appear up what I named mine to finish set up. That's my con. Easy to set up if you adhere to directions. I use mine to watch Hulu upstairs in the bedroom. I just left the antena bundled and hanging from the back of the pc, which seems to operate fine.

This card was bought to supply wireless connectivity for an older Pc that runs each W2K and Slackware Linux 13.1. The card installed easily and cleanly under both operating systems, and, so far, has exhibited very good efficiency (connects promptly and stays connected reliably). A really minor point - the external antenna could do with some way to optionally attach the antenna base to a flat surface, such as holes for mounting screws, ora replaceable double-sided adhesive tape. The antenna base just doesn't have enough mass to maintain it reliably in position, and there is no way to mount the antenna "upside down", such as to hang it from a ceiling.

Arrived promptly, even although it was the egg saver shipping. As others have stated, I put it in the machine, booted up, Windows 7 x64 went on the internet to find the drivers (was currently connected to the Net), and Done. It gets much better reception than the USB adapter it replaced. The cable that came with it is impressively long. Not certain if it was a Windows concern or what, but Windows 7 reported that the driver failed to install effectively, but every little thing is operating fine. I with they would hurry up and make Avatar 2.

This Card is Nice!! I was utilizing broadband service directly connected to my laptop or computer by way of Ethernet port. I seriously do not see any distinction in terms of speed. This card worked suitable out of the box. The additional antenna cable makes it achievable to move the antenna around. I know it is not N but i don't think it matters. It is very extremely quickly and stable connection. None Just obtain it. For the price tag and the efficiency...you will truly adore it. Yes it works with Windows 7 64 bit. I downloaded the driver from the manufacturer's internet site. Obtain it and see....It works miracles and specially for its cost....no distinction with broadband speeds...I am quite impressed

I have this connected to my pc in my house shop. My major computer system with the router is about 150 ft away in my study. This thing never fails to connect. It's amazing! I wish it was USB so I could swap it out on distinct computers, but I knew it wasn't when I purchased it so that's not seriously a con. Just a wish. Get it, you won't be sorry.

Was a basic install on my XP box. Downloaded the drivers from the manufacturer's site (which really WASN'T as straightforward as it should have been). There is an alternative to install just the driver and use XP's wireless management, which I very suggest across the board. Also works out of the box with Ubuntu (my version, anyway, which is 10.04). A really compatible card. Reception is not as good as I would have hoped. Would have given this 3 stars, except I am as far away from the router as I could be in the house, and I haven't tested it in other environments. Nonetheless, though, I get three to 4 bars maximum, and this is with the antenna placed on the floor in the center of my bedroom, which is annoying. I've already stepped on it as soon as. My netbook gets excellent reception in the very same space, as does my girlfriend's. So let's call this 3.five stars. Hey, it's low-cost and it works in Linux. Can't say I need to expect a lot more for the price. Even if I finish up getting an antenna extension cable, it will nonetheless come out to a reasonable cost.

Price, seems to function fine, lengthy antenna cable, compatibility with Linux Each and every when in a though, I have to reconnect to my router which is on the other side of the property and a floor above, and I get speeds of about 250-300 KB/s, but often it'll dip down to 20-100 KB/s Hey, it functions. I installed this in Linux Mint 9, and it works out of the box. My case appears to use a non standard expansion slot size, or my motherboard has the expansion slots a touch too far to the front of the case as with this and the graphics card, they get a small bent at the slot cover. Otherwise, although, it is outstanding.AMD Phenom II X6 1055TGigabyte GA-870A-UD34GB ƒ x 2GB) Kingston DDR3 1333WD5000AAKS 500GB Caviar BlueSeagate 500GB external drive (now internal :))Optical driveAntec 900Antec 650WMSI 8400GS 512MBThis card

Properly it does function well if you get it to work. The range is good and no shut offs. This is a phase out item and I had to search really a bit at the edimax internet site to locate the driver. Windows 7 does not automatically detect it. But with a couple of router unplug and replugs and the proper driver it works excellent. My concern is for it's future functionality. It's not definitely a hassle to get it working if you've been about the networking block just before but for the inexperienced... get something that's not getting phased out.

Installed simply and speeds have been awesome ever due to the fact. Have been noticing most download speeds around 1 MB/s and was in a position to download some games off Steam upwards of two.three MB/s, much more quickly than I have knowledgeable on any other wireless card. None I can't comment on the range of this card, as I am only about 20 feet from my router, but am in a circumstance exactly where I wouldn't want to run a wire.

Easy to use. Plug it in, install driver, done.Good lengthy cable. Got a router that doesn't want to give you anything above two bars? Use this, and it will no longer have a selection in the matter.Outstanding cost. My antenna got a bit bent somehow. It looked sturdy, but I guess not. There's no difficulties, it just looks poor. Probably just a poor style. The only thing you'll possibly ever put in that pci slot subsequent to a sound card.

Great signal strengthExternal antenna is on a long cord, so you can place it high, exactly where it can get the greatest signalWindows 7 64-bit compatibleSoftware program (downloadable version) gives you the selection to load just the driverEidemax has a decent internet site Software on included disk did not perform for my Windows 7 64-bit technique. Tried using Eidemax's software program, on the included disk, to load drivers - no go. So, on my laptop I downloaded the driver software (version ") from Eidemax's website, and transferred it to my desktop. I'm rather happy that the software gave me the choice to load just the driver, with out added bloatware. Now receiving at 54 Mbps.

low price, exceptional reception, compact none I was a small hesitant about this card, since we live in a stone house which is really significant. I figured I'd acquire this 1, and if it didn't work well, I'd just get a fancier a lot more pricey one. We've had it more than a year now, and it's never failed to obtain the signal from our 2Wire DSL modem, even getting five rooms away from it. Quite content with our acquire.

Reliable, consistent connection; long antenna wire Can be tricky to install on XP 64 bit This is my second 7128G. Initially one worked perfectly with XP property. I'm using this with XP Pro 64 bit... the CD went by means of the install but could discover no networks and the web site does not list any drivers for XP 64 bit. I panicked for a minute then figured out you can skip Edimax drivers and install Ralink ones instead; now it works beautifully with Windows wifi utility, no additional software program required. Go for the Ralink "PCI/mPCI/CB (RT256x/RT266x)" driver.

Low-cost, decent software program, reasonable performance. It died right after < five months.Took a genuinely long time to wake up and re-acquire the defaulted WiFi channel (excellent signal strength). Bummed that it had such a brief warranty and that it died. I understand the statistical aspect of this but getting the one with the dead card....

When I first bought this it worked great on Win 7 x64. Installed card, installed driver, and linked to network right away. Even ran good speed by means of a couple of walls and stayed connected. Until.......... I hadn't utilised it for a although and found a require to once more. Went to get it back out of the original packaging (yes, I'm a small fanatical about keeping my boxes...lol) and install it once more on the exact same pc with the similar OS and it would not enable for some reason. I have fully rebuilt my rig parts wise so I checked about the web and apparently I'm not the only 1 having this difficulty. I attempted each the Win 7 and Vista drivers direct from the Edimax web page and absolutely nothing. Everything would install fine it just won't work. Needless to say I'm a small disappointed.

This PCI card just works. Great signal and zero configuration. lspci says it's a Ralink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI You gonna miss all the command line stuff due to the fact you don't need to type one single command to make this function. It's too simple. Plug and play. I need to have gotten this long time ago.

Installed very easily in ancient Dell 4700; superb range; no driver problems. None apparent. Would not uncover the router at first. I eventually discovered that my OS (XP) had WZC set to manual. If this takes place, go to Microsoft Tech Note 871122 so set WZC to Auto.

Uncomplicated to install. Maintains a connection. Has great to extremely very good range indoors. I had no problems to date. This has as you can see an external antenna which I find can be beneficial for a desktop/tower form factor. My system sits on the floor and I uncover I get an improved signal when the antenna sits on the desk. The antenna is tiny and not extremely noticeable. No genuine cons. It works.

its wonderful, it picks up signals much more than 100 yards away that i just cant get on my laptop. none at all other than i paid about 2 1ǘ times what its presently at now a lot more than 3 years ago. its a nice card , never ever drops signals, and is generally avaliable to choose up signals from neighbors or other people who have unsecured networks in my neighborhood. You can set it to either be a acess point for your dwelling network to extend it, or to pick up signals from routers/gateways.Still havnt gotten the firm's i buy from to pay me but, though im working on it.100% great obtain. wouldnt hesitate to buy if necessary once again.

Movable antenna to much better pick up router. None. Maybe not the new "n" spec, but neither is my community router. I went right to the Mfg's internet site and downloaded the newest drivers prior to I installed the card. I also installed the included utility simply because the Windows version doesn't give significantly control or information. No issues what-so-ever in Windows7 64bit.
