This board supports 2000+mhz speeds for your ram, so there is no worry about no matter if it can take care of overclocking the ram. If there are any difficulties with booting an error code will be displayed on the LED in the lower left corner of the board, this makes troubleshooting uncomplicated due to the fact each and every code has a corresponding answer situated in your manual. The board also has 2 reset cmos buttons positioned on the motherboard, as well as in the back plate of the motherboard exactly where all of you i/o ports are located. Currently this motherboard has a "fail protected" starting processes. The pc will boot for about five seconds, shut down, then reboot in bios/os. This function is for all of the overclockers out there who enjoy to fool around in the bios. According to EVGA this function will soon be made optional via a BIOS update. But do not let this feature hesitate you from receiving this board. Most EVGA goods come with a life time warranty. But you Need to activate your item inside 30days of obtain. New evga motherboards come with Watch Dog. This allows you to modify your speeds, clocks, and so forth. and then boot into bios. Instead of getting to reset cmos each time you fail at overclocking, watchdog will automatically return all values to their stock speeds. Also the SLI on this board is 8x8 instead of 16x16 like my earlier motherboards. In other words attempt to avoid SLI and just get a robust single gpu. I am running an ATI 5870 and using an 9800gtx+ in the PhysX slot. But you want to download a patch in order to do so considering that Nvidia does not want you to be capable to use PhysX when an ATI card is present. If you get this board for gaming, you will not be disappointed.

Solid overall performance, fantastic for OC, double BIOS is nice, styling is subtle and understates the overall performance. 8xǞx PCIe slots are on top rated of each other stopping essential airflow if employing two discrete GPUs. I employed EVGA's step-up to upgrade to the P55 SLI F.T.W. 黑). This board is great, don't get me wrong, but I preferred the 8xǞx PCIe slots to be separated for much better airflow. The 657 also has a few other attributes that could or could not be handy.

This is a Lynnfield board, which means that it demands 1.65 volt memory to run. The voltage requirements are set by the architecture that intel designed; it has nothing to do with EVGA. It is not EVGA's responsibility to remind you it demands 1.65 volt memory. I uncover it hilarious how every owner complaining about the voltage specifications on the memory considers their tech level high. Please do your analysis just before negatively reviewing a product. none

Was wonderful... when it worked. Broke within a week and necessary to RMA it for a new one. Make sure to get insurance coverage when you send something to EVGA. A hole pierced via the box and scratched the corner of the board and EVGA forced me to pay 赊 for a replacement... the board was 230 when I bought it and it only worked for a week and now one more 170 down the drain... Manufacturer Response:Hello,Im sorry you experienced problems. we constantly advocate insurance coverage on any package shipped in for RMA as these are very pricey and sensitive components. and if not packed really properly can cause many issues and shipping harm.If there is something we can help you with please contact us at 龸) 881-3842 and we will be happy to help you.Thank youEVGA support

This board has Pretty much everything I need with a reasonable value. Clean and nice appear, which makes me really feel far more happy. The LED error display is amazing, so I never have to guess what went wrong in the method. Does not assistance IDE. I have a couple of IDE HDs and DVD-ROM that will not operate with this board. So, i have spend further $$$ for a new DVD-ROM and a secondary storage HD.

Desirable, has been trustworthy so far.. I essentially like that this Mobo powers on briefly to test the boot, shuts down, then begins the actual boot. This tells me it may final a although. The constructed in Marvell Yukon NIC is Exceptional - it provides me the most out of my 1.5Mbps DSL connection. The on-board Realtek HD audio is very good too, but a high-excellent sound card still beats it. Effortless to set my DDR3 17000 memory to complete 2133mhzHaven't OC'd i7 860CPU yet, but going to attempt with beneficial on the internet guide posted on EVGA forum... from what other individuals have mentioned, this shouldn't be a challenge my EVGA P55 SLI Motherboard does not seem to manage the pricey fans I linked to it, or at least it does not usually show the fan speed in the Bios or latest EVGA Eleet utility. (I come across this by going into the BIOS Hardware Well being Config - it lists the speed for each and every fan as "N/A", and the EVGA Eleet utility normally lists absolutely nothing for fan speed.) Occasionally the EVGA Eleet utility will list the speed for the CPU fan.The fans I am using are: three Silenx ixtreme Pro ƒ for cpu), and one 120mm Scythe Kama PWM. I have made certain that these fans are plugged into the power connectors labelled JCPU_FAN, JCHA_FAN, and JPWR_FAN - these are the ones the bios lists as controllable by SMARTFAN. The fan speed does boost when the CPU has a heavy loadEVGA has not been capable to give a answer, just guidance to update bios, load defaults, attempt removing CMOS battery. I suspect that the difficulty is voltage related- possibly the fans use much less energy, so the mobo does not detect or manage their speed? Also my PSU is an 80-plus - wonder if this may possibly relate to fan manage issue. (Silenx support didn't even respond to my inquiry.)Another problem:Little documentation on Bios features - I even downloaded AMI's BIOS eight documentation, and it answers only some questions.. The Eleet utility shows temperatures and some items, but utilizing it to OC crashes my computer. The sATA ports that are pointing to the side of the motherboard produced installing the SATA cables difficult because my situation left tiny space amongst the mobo and and front chassis- I may have gotten a larger case had I known.

Fantastic board, great layout. Bios is full of capabilities. Powered up initially time, no issues at all with all elements detected. Paired with a Core i7 860 and 8GB G.S.kill DDR3 1333 and a Radeon HD 5870, awesome overall performance. None (but read other thoughts) I saw a different guy talking about fan speeds and I decided to write this evaluation because I have the exact exact same problem. The settings in the bios to control the fan speed dont appear to perform proper. I have my situation Fans connected to JCPU_FAN, JCHA_FAN, and JPWR_FAN and this ones need to be capable to manage the fan speed. The Bios shows the RPMS for the CPU fan but not for the other fans, it shows as N/A, there for I have the hair drier noise that I hate so much considering that I got two 200mm fans and a 120mm in my Cooler Master HAF922 situation. Other than that great board.

Good board so far. Looks excellent and runs fairly cool. With an i7 860 I can clock it up to four.2 pretty easily and any person can hit 4ghz with a great cooler. Only cons is the BIOS being not so good when it very first came out and the RAM issues, but it see This is a sexy board and a very good value when I got it. It was on sale for 135 so you cant truly beat that.

Rapid boot, fantastic layout, operates nicely. Lots of pretty lights if you go for that. BIOS layout is user friendly. Has a speaker (again, if that's your thing). There are mounting holes for 775 socket CPU coolers, creating your life a small bit easier there. The debug codes are a truly good touch. I didn't want them, but I could see how it would come in handy. Newegg shipping was as usual outstanding, if not at their usual blazing rapid speed (DHL ships veeeeeery slow compared to Newegg's usual service). A single minor a single. If your computer system hangs through boot, it will make a continuous beeping noise for about five minutes. Very annoying when attempting to sleep, and windows update screws some thing up. Simply solved by having a stable program, or disconnecting the internal speaker. Bought this board when my initial one particular (by a different huge manufacturer whose name begins with A) died on me. I've had certainly zero issues with this board. The only thing to really note is that with the stock CPU cooler, my idle temps had been around 40C. Need to note though that they by no means got above 50C. My earlier board would idle at 30C, but I would see load temps around 70C. It would seem that this board is relatively stable, but at a slighty greater temperature than I would like.My Setup:EVGA P55 SLIIntel Core i5ZALMAN CNPS 9700 NT cooler4GB G.Skill DDR3 1333Seagate Barracuda 1.5 TB 7200 RPM

ATX format is the idealEasy to installsupports triple sli Did not contain standoffs and it demands atleast 7 i consider. Standoffs are here on newegg for much less than 5 bucks tho It has an anti radio freq set up that isnt nessisary if you ground the board correctly. Pretty large so make positive it fits your case. This did not fit in my old dell situation, so i would ugest an immediately after-market one.

I installed the CPU in a P55 motherboard with no difficulties. It runs cool in my case. I actually like the function that lets the CPU run slower when I am not operating any demanding programs and then quicker when I make a decision to run some graphic intense applications. I am a medium level gamer, so this CPU is handling everthing I want it to do with no troubles, extremely pleased so far. None as of however. Also Newegg and UPS rock when it came to processing and shipping my order! I ordered all the parts for my new construct at once. I chose 3 day ground by UPS. I live in a rural community in Nevada and am utilized to lengthy waits. From the time I placed my order it took a tiny less than 48 hrs for almost everything to arrive on my doorstep and that was during the snowstorms of last week!

Booted very first energy-on devoid of a issue, and detected my RAM's XMP profiles instantly. The on-board LED display is remarkable, and even tells you your CPU's temperature when not showing error codes! Lots of slots for expansion, and fits each component quickly. Great value as well! Just a nit-choose, but the I/O shield comes with a foam pad on the motherboard-side of it that looks like it is for cushioning the motherboard against it. It has holes in the foam for the corresponding ports and every thing. In practice, even so, this gets in the way and have to be removed. My motherboard would not seat in the computer system case when pressed up against this foam pad before I removed it. Comparing price, expandability, overall performance, and overall function, you would be hard pressed to find a much better deal on a performance motherboard.

All technical specs aside, this board is tremendously sexy. I adore the onboard temp monitor given that this sits to the appropriate of me on my desk I can peak correct in. It overclocks properly, and is loaded with great characteristics such as the external cmos reset button on the back. (As an overclocker I can't even begin to tell you how substantially I appreciate this feature). It didn't make me a sammich when I told it to! Fantastic motherboard, and not to milk a dead cow right here but EVGA is 1 of, if not the very best computer elements businesses going. The step up program, the support, the software program they consist of, every thing is just best of the line and I can not say adequate very good items about them.

Effortless to install. I read the critiques that stated that more of a manual is necessary, and EVGA has it on their website. I have not updated the bios and have not even loaded the drivers that came with the board, Win7 handles and finds every little thing necessary. I built the method, loaded Windows and was off and operating in no time! XMP memory is automatically set by the bios..... Painless! Excellent value for the efficiency. From what I read here, and in EVGA's web-site there are concerns with the bios upgrades. This board is look great. Its fast and trustworthy. Was really uncomplicated to install in my Antec 900 case. There is a lot of space between the CPU heatsink and RAM DIMMS. This is especualy very good when operating aftermarket cooling (im running TT Spin Q). A good board for the price. TONS of USB slots, 2x ethernet ports. keeps CPU operating cool, mine idles at 27c in a space thats at least 85 degrees F all day.-Tech assistance is great! Make confident you contact or go on the web and register so you can get speedy tech help service from Evga.-havent been in a position to OC yet, but even at stock speed, this board makes my i3-540 Scream!-The LED connectors are labeled on the board for easy connection for power, reset and HDD LED buttons.-Uncomplicated access CMOS, POWER, and RESET buttons positioned on board. This came in handy for me. -Wont boot with iPod plugged in (bios update may well fix this)-desires bios update to run intel i3 processors properly-overclocking is complex on this board. I Nonetheless havent gotten a stable OC immediately after two weeks.-The instruction manual sucks.-if you're operating dual video cards, the PCI-E slots sit right on top rated of eachother. Your best card will run hotter than standard mainly because it cant breath, due to the bottom card getting so close to it.-Will not let my memory run at 1600Mhz with out OC. Defaults to 1333Mhz.+ I took an Egg away simply because of the hassle i had attempting to get it to boot into windows. In order to load windows i had to reset CMOS everytime i shut it down. The power button would turn it on, and it would shut down seconds later and would not turn back on devoid of reseting CMOS. This was due to the lack of assistance for i3 CPUs on stock bios. Flash to newest bios update fixed this concern. Quite good board. I've generally been pleased with EVGA items. Seemed to operate properly at 1st 3 months into owning I began to get intermittent troubles, but every little thing usually recovered and was constantly fine. 6 months in it got worse, and inside a week I could no longer get past the "Welcome" screen at login. Try to RMA EVGA card, they tell me it's not the card and to check memory. Lo and behold, my memory, *which tests fantastic in other computers*, is testing bad. Also looked up my bios beep code, and it is telling me it's a DRAM refresh error. Try to RMA board, and they tell me that it's the card. Card would not cause memory troubles. I tell them this, they tell me to check memory settings. When I tell them I have carried out this, they tell me it is the card once more. This goes back and forth a couple times. I am by no means purchasing any EVGA product once more, this is ridiculous. My board also does the "dual boot" factor, where it starts, and then quickly reboots. Always booted on the second time. I bought EVGA's "superclocked" card, so perhaps overclocking is what is causing this. Manufacturer Response:Hi,The double boot is normal and can be disabled from inside the BIOS (make positive you are on the most up-to-date BIOS 1st)Thanks,Jacob
