This board so far for me has worked quite nicely. I didn't have any troubles with it. Booted appropriate up and had no problems with the rest of my hardware. Plus it looks quite freakin cool in my case. The led read out is seriously cool if you have troubles. Only con is that I had to go into the BIOS and set all of my cpu and memory settings to what the specs are. Worked properly when it was working. Would not post immediately after 9 months. Second board died after one more year EVGA has the worst consumer service I have ever dealt with. I am a expert computer system repair technition and EVGA fought with me with just about every return. They mentioned I didn't register effectively and my lifetime warranty was void but they would RMA it this 1 time, but I would not be coverd any longer. When I sent in the very first board they contacted me and mentioned their was damage to the CPU socket and wanted to charge me for the repair. Following days of arguing with them they finaly sent me a remanufatured 1 which a year later started having problems with the RAID controller. So following yet another battle they issued me yet another RMA and when I sent this a single back they once again mentioned the CPU socket was damaged. Even with pictures I had taken just before I sent it they refused to take responsibility and now I am out 跌. I now have a ASUS ROC X58 motherboard which I have been extremely pleased with. I ask for your support by never purchasing a EVGA product once again. This board is the best motherboard I have ever had, The layout is awsome, the temp read out on the debug leds are excellent. The passive heatsink is awsome, no moving parts to make noise or mantain, all the voltage controlls. I got this board for 趙 and couldn't be happier. The vreg temp situation is nothing I have came accross. It gets to 67c max no matter what I thro at it. BIOS six-8-ten. Getting the SATA 6gb/USB 3. enabled adds an additional boot rom to the startup, slowing it down a bit on startup. overall wonderful motherboard :) Thanks EVGA and all your employees for all the challenging waork you guys do. Only a few cons, I don't like the CPU energy pins proper behind the vreg heatsink. As a different reviewer stated, the dang warrenty sticker covered up the mounting hole for the cpu. I had to peal it back just a tad to install the heatsink. 1 final thing, for SLI you have to use slots 1 and two to get 16x to both with that the cards are proper subsequent to eachother. I wish I could use slots 1 and three giving it more space but if you use slot three at all it gose to 8x PCIex. But these are absolutely nothing to take an egg off for. I have been overclokcing given that the very first Athlon days, Tbird 1000mhz to 1200mhz lol and applied a bunch of good MBs. DFI NF4 Professional, DFI DK P35, EVGA 680i, DFI UT X48, just to name a couple of and this is the finest MB however. EVGA is now the best organization to obtain a MB from and in no way lets me down. The board functions very nicely with an i7-950, and I don't have any difficulties with daily use. Windows 7 for the OS. Set up and tweaking was a bit far more challenging... The SATA III support seems provisional in my opinion. I don't get why they didn't just make all the ports on this SATA III and let the controller down speed when required.When I installed the chipset drivers following installing windows, I had some troubles with the program not recognizing the boot drive, so I had to play with the registry from the recovery console to set isStorV to 3 and msahci to . Later, I just moved the major boot drive (which was SATA II anyway) to one particular of the non SATA III ports and that's how my present setup is.The northbridge does not have a fan, rather it has this mondo heat sync. The chip is rated to run at some thing like 60C... and it does.. even at idle. I'd really like an alternative to the stock cooler for this vital element. Rock solid, overclocking was a breeze, lots of new functions. None. Never had a lot luck with overclocking just before, burt with the assist of a guide in the EVGA forums, very easily got my two.8 Ghz i7 up to four Ghz, and was in a position to preserve my RAM running in triple channel. The only ups that the classified has over ftw3 is the 4th sli, a bunch of added LED lights, and 2 years longer for the warranty. The price difference did not justify those ups for me.
