Quick and Low cost. I'll give it four out of five because four out of the five drives I purchased are still operating. 1 out of five I have purchased so far failed. A brand new drive that fails appropriate following installation; it doesn't inspire confidence in the item. I would have preferred it not function at all rather of operating and then failing right after two hours. That's enough to preserve me away in the future. I expect these drives to be additional trustworthy than the tough disks they replaced. They drives had been installed in Dell Optiplex desktops. Users actually like the good performance enhance they got out of their older machines. I will possibly acquire the Corsair product if I do any future upgrades. The headache of a failed SSD is not worth the ฮ I saved by going with the G.Skill product. Sandforce controller was a need to and this was the cheapest out there. Manufacturer Response:.Dear BuyerWe apologize for the inconvenience. It is incredibly odd that one drive died after a couple hours. This really should not come about at all. Please send it in for RMA and the replacement must perform fine. Incredibly Rapidly- Files open instantaneously, applications open twice as fast as a regular HDD None as of yet. It's very smaller, so little it has its personal bracket to attach to ahead of it can be mounted. But it fit all the exact same. The only downside I can uncover is capacity vs. value. It's a wicked fast drive and the tech is new adequate that you have to pay a premium for it. Windows 7 is taking up 14.3Gb of an readily available 55Gb. That doesn't leave considerably space. It's just critical to prioritize what you want to run devoid of waiting, and what you can spare an additional second or two on.But general, it's a fantastice piece of hardware and I can't advocate it sufficient.

This drive is rapid. I bought this drive for a clientele XP Media Center Pc. I was in a position to image his common HDD onto the SSD and it has created the Pc incredibly rapid. Even though it doesn't have Windows 7 and all of its SSD technologies it is still rapid. I would have to say that on boot up Windows XP boots faster than Windows 7. Also this drive comes with a 2.5" to three.5" converter. Nothing at all. I wish I had waited a little longer on finding my SSD for the Sand Force chipset. I am just waiting on the evolution of SSD to get more affordable and even faster.

Quickly. This replaces a smaller OCZ Vertex II drive ྾GB) that was operating out of space as an OS drive. This drive is truly noticably quicker than the OCZ and I believed IT was rapidly. My Windows 7 load time is about ten seconds. Other applications open as even though I had them minimized. Also, it comes with a 2.5 to three.five adapter, so you don't require to order one if you're going with this drive. I'm cautiously optimistic there won't be any. Folks have had hit-or-miss luck with these, as G.Skill has clearly had some Sandforce issues with these drives. I'm hoping that mine is new enough that it comes from the "fixed" generation of drives. So far so great, but I'm going to be watching it like a hawk. Problems occur, no matter who the manufacturer is, and my understanding is that G.Skill are a solid business in respects to RAM, so stepping to SSD is not a massive stretch. Hopefully their troubles are straightened out and this drive will final me a very good whilst. Definitely SSD is the way of the future. Yes, it's costly from a expense per GB standpoint, but you have to contain the performance. Until costs drop substantially, I don't know that I would suggest making use of an SSD as you most important storage drive, but it absolutely cannot be beaten as your OS program drive.

Fast, quiet and sort of low cost.Scored a 7.two on Windows Expertise Index. Already over 50% of the space is utilised. With no VS2010, Blend or any other software installed. If the cost drops just before the SATA III SSD's get greater write speeds then I will get one more two for Raid .

10-12 second boot time with Windows7 x64 and 4GB Ram on my Q6600 with 4G Ram. Runs amazing, software program installation is so quick, it's practically fun to just install software program to see how rapid it is! Really incredibly quiet, can't even hear it at all. None that I could think of, just works nicely. Wish I had a bit much more room to run games and other massive size applications from it. About 35gigs cost-free with Windows7 and some other apps.

It just completely died will not appear in the bios at all. I have had zero troubles with my kingston ssd and the 3 other mechanical drives in my computer. Stay away. Go with intel. Most of my programs that use to take 10-30 seconds to load up now only take a couple seconds. Adobe, Acronis, even Windows loading is at least twice as rapid. This factor is rapid beyond belief. When you switch to SSD, you'll in no way want to go back to platter drives. Hopefully they will be just as affordable as platter drives soon so everyone can appreciate it. Thanks NewEgg and G.Skill!!

Absolutley none, these are truly good SSD's and a fantastic value. I'll be purchasing an additional one shortly for my other computer.

I purchased two, 1 for Win7 and one for Ubuntu. I did have to RMA a drive for it would not format into ext4 and went poor after. The replacement was speedy and the new drive was good. I have owned them for about 1 month and Ill do a assessment in a couple of additional. They are fast! Not as fast as a PCI interface but very good enough for me. 7.6 on the windows scale if you put credit in that. None so far, dont really feel I took an egg away for the RMA, just think they could be a liiiitle quicker or cheaper. I own G.Skill's RAM too, so far Id say they have some excellent tech. Manufacturer Response:.Dear ClientThank you for your G.Skill purchase and evaluation. We apologize for the negative drive, but glad to hear you were in a position to get that replaced promptly and the new 1 functions fine. As far as performance, make certain the newest firmware and drivers are utilised. If efficiency is nonetheless lacking, you can put two in RAID to double the transfer rate efficiency. Effortless to install. Worked right out of the box with no any cursing. Paid 贝 which is on the lower finish for a Sandforce drive with 50k IOPS. None truly. Just that I was acquiring up to 229MB read and 223MB write with 2x WD HDD in RAID . Now I’m acquiring 275MB read and 217MB write with the SSD. SSD are fast, but RAID is rapidly AND inexpensive. Efficiency is incredibly very good of course. But even far better performance (and 25x the storage) can be had for ŭ less if you go with 3x 500GB WD Blue standard drives in RAID for 贘. Which is what I’d suggest if you’ve got a RAID capable Intel motherboard. Manufacturer Response:.Dear ConsumerThank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear you had been in a position to RAID the SSDs for far better efficiency. Please make positive to use the most up-to-date AHCI and Intel Storage drivers for maximum efficiency. Even though your read and write speeds at the moment are comparable to common HDDs, the HDDs can by no means beat the average seek occasions of SSDs. Most HDDs have an typical seek time of 9ms, where as SSDs have a constant seek time of less than 1ms. This is the principal benefit of SSDs over HDDs.Thank youGSKILL SupportQuality and consumer service are our leading priorities.Tech Support Email: ustech@gskillusa.comRMA Dept E-mail: rma@gskillusa.comG.Skill Forum: http://www.gskill.us/forum/

If you have an intel core 2 duo chip, quad core, or i3,i5,i7you need this. It will increase the speed of your complete laptop program at the extremely least 3x, or 300% up to three.5x or 350%. The speed enhance depends mostly on the FSB speed (older motherboards even two-3 years - the capacitors and resistors applied will slow down the speed a little but you will still get 240 or 250Mb/s read and write speed as long as its not additional than a 3-four yr old motherboard and was a decent 1 to begin with. The FSB has been removed as the bottleneck of the computer, and it is now the mechanical challenging drive.(SSD is now reasonably priced.) The HDD became the bottleneck when Core 2 duo arrived but was too high priced. This will be the most substantial speed improvement there is to make for years. How to install it. Ddsconnect all other HDD. Make this the Sata 1 slot n' install a fresh copy of Windows 7. reboot. immediately after all updates, type "disk" into the bottom search window, and opt for partition. WHen I say fresh copy of windows I mean to put the windows disk into the cd/dvd drive and if it doesnt automatically start up go into the bios and pick cd dvd drive to boot. Select CUSTOM.Upgrade is only for a normal HDD you utilized ahead of if you want to save everything on the drive the easy way with no transferring it someplace else initially. Install continued: Then reboot Connect all other HDD.ONLY DO Next STEP IF YOU WANT ONLY One WINDOWS to boot up. If you dont do this step and you already had windows you could have a screen which asks you which windows to boot up. If you do, this is how to get rid of he undesirable one.Save your files from the other disks on external or 1 of the drives. Then kind disk in the search window and opt for partition once again. Uncover the disk which had the old windows and format it. CAUTION., it will erase almost everything.YOU May possibly Want TO Allow ACHI IN BIOS IN ORDER FOR THE MOTHERBOARD TO SEE IT. IT depends on what SATA slot you have it in.

Essentially spec's at about 95-98% of claimed numbers. That works for me below Win 7 64-bit Pro. Fast. Speedy boots. Not a con per se, but SandForce drives are known to slow down when writing huge, extremely compressed files such as digital video. That is evident here, but I nonetheless get sustained writes of those large files in the 150MB/s range, so not truly a challenge. You need to use AHCI to get full positive aspects of drive. I got about 70% of rated speeds with SATA as enhanced IDE. I did not attempt this drive in a RAID setting. You can turn AHCI on in the registry and then reboot, go into BIOS and activate the AHCI setting. The AHCI driver will then install at the desktop, and you do 1 a lot more reboot and you are there. You need to have AHCI setting, as far as I know, to update firmware, despite the fact that other than the usual warnings, G.Skill FW updates are supposed to be non-destructive.I have not attempted this drive below any other OS, so I can't speak to how it would perform with XP, Vista, Linux, and so on.Nonetheless overall suspicious of SSD's - I've had an Indilinx -based drive fail after a year, and a Samsung-based drive fail in ten months. And those had been with all the advised tweaks applied to lessen write action to the drives.
