Comment:
I have had this board for about a week and it seems to be working as developed. This board does not seem to adhere to ATX Specification 2.two (http://www.formfactors.org/developerŷCspecsŷCatx2_two.pdf) with the standoff mounting holes along the back of the board (opposite the I/O shield) at places M, L, and K, not aligning with these in my Cooler Master HAF 922 case. This signifies you have to be added cautious when connecting the board's power cable and something else along the cantilevered edge or you could crack the board. When I contacted Gigabyte's assistance, they look to ignore the query and retain restating that it is an ATX board. I really hope I don't have to speak to them for a true issue as so far, they have been significantly less than client friendly. Recieved this board as aspect of a bundled package from newegg and even though it works, I'm shocked it was bundled with a case that is not in a position to handle the non-regular standoff places.

-Low cost because it was open box-SATA 6GB/s-USB 3. (finally acquiring some focus)-A lot of ports-Looks like it will be effortless to flash-Looks like it's simple to OC-Gigabyte's reputation & on-line help -Not for crossfire-BSODI have been troubleshooting this BSOD dilemma on and off for a handful of months now (I purchased the components for my brother who lives three hours away). This was a new develop in August and he didn't have any difficulties until October when he got his 1st BSOD immediately after playing SC2 for only a handful of minutes. He now gets a blue screen every single time he tries to play (no troubles ahead of October). RAM, HDD, and Video card all check out OK. The Computer doesn't run hot, it's not OC'd, and BIOS settings are all great. He is lastly going to flash the BIOS to a beta version but we're still unsure if it will make a distinction. The functions are fairly very good so it's worth purchasing if you want a cheap, functional, extended-lasting MB.

Nicely laid out board, lots of (mostly useless) extras. Straightforward utilities and unlocked two added cores on my Phenom II x2 555 black edition with no issue at all. Looks pretty snazzy too. Northbridge heat sink is kinda derp. It kinda concerns me with how wobbly it is. It doesn't really feel all that secure. We shall see how that goes although. Wonderful board, I'd acquire one more in a heartbeat.

Cheep, 2. PCI-ex16, 8pin CPU energy connector I dont see why these are so difficult to uncover these days.Plenty of USB, a FireWire Port (I don't know why those are so scarce), USB 2x three.. Enough SATA 6Gb/s ports to do a raid ten or two raid 10s. A separate set ofSATA 3Gb/s ports if you don't want to plug those now older drives into the 6Gb/s slots (but you far more then can and I am undertaking so, works fine with the backward compatibility and what not) North Bridge temperatures run between 77-83C. I checked with Gigabyte and they appear to be unwilling to admit this is a faulty sensor so I will not claim is it.Nevertheless they do claim it is safe up to something ridiculous like 105C. And I believe it is a faulty sensor as my ambient temps are ӵC-12C when I 1st boot in the AM and only go up to ㅌC max even after an intense day, (this is only where the tower is not in the room my operate station is, 15ft HDMI cable keeps me away from the cold ice box of a closet the tower is stored in). So every temp in the tower is ណC below complete load and this NB temp begins at 80C and stays that way all day. But to cut a long story shot... it's stableI have ordered a single of these LED/IR temperature reading runs off of an on-line retailer new egg wont let me name in this overview, oh nicely... cant have capitalism with no greed, (for another objective, not just for this) and will use it to test the actual NB temp when it arrives. Bit of a bad design, that getting the faulty temp sensor (if it is that and if it's not the negative heat sync but I doubt it is)

Excellent attributes, worked out of the box. Temperatures appear ok. Had this for about 6 months, and then the ethernet card died this morning. Rather than spend income for an RMA I'm just going to chuck out บ for a PCI ethernet card. I hope that doesn't bring about factors to go haywire like whats been going on with other people. Whats with motherboards and the genuinely undesirable excellent manage?

lots of slotssupports 1600mhz ram NB has the worst heatsink EVER=no overclocking the nb! >:( I bumped up the nb freq from 2. - 2.2ghz and my nb temps are between 78*C and 80*C. Its not cove covered underwarranty due to the fact its "technically" a secure temp, and if you obtain an aftermarket cooler it voids your warranty. so no overclocking the nb for me:(

I have bought four of these boards and I actually like the board utilities they have as far as updating BIOS and monitoring of the technique. Board appears stable. Of these 4 boards, 2 have had the PCI Express slots just die. Has been no warning, go to begin computer and you have no video. The very first 1 was more than a year ago and I just chocked it up to a failure, but the second 1 just died in Novemder of 2010, makes me sort of leary of Gigabyte now. This is the cause for a 2 rating. I have been using Asus and Gigabyte boards for builds and so far I have had no failures of any kind with Asus.

The board is very effectively laid out and overclocks effectively for a board at this price tag. Really superior value, I think, until AM3+ and 990 boards are released I wish the main energy and SATA connectors had been at a ideal angle

Overclocked a phenom II x4 955 lightly to three.6Ghz with out a voltage enhance. Likes mushkin enhanced silverline Model 996585 just fine. Operating 1333 CAS9 1T with out any manual configuration. Board rev two.1. Windows 7 64 would crash on boot after install in spite of any AHCI, IDE, SATA2Ǚ setting combinations. Updated the program to BIOS F5a, and it worked perfect. Reinstalled the OS just in situation. No troubles immediately after that. NB heatsink was a bit loose so I let the system heat up in prime95, gave it a balanced downward press and shut the program down to let it stick. Thermal pad seems to have taken hold now. ...and bingo was his name-o.

Functions good with my AMD Phenom II X4 970 Black Edition and elements in other thoughts. This board appeared to be DOA when attempting to use my Antec Earthwatts 650 PSU. After some phone book testing, I did get it to work with my BFG 550 PSU. I am giving it four stars because of the PSU concern; the Earthwatts 650 PSU need to have been in a position to power this w/o situation and I blame Giga-Byte on this. If you get this board and it appears DOA, attempt a diverse PSU. My CORSAIR CWCH60 Hydro Series fit this board without situation. I used CORSAIR XMS 4GB ƒ x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) in this board. With the above components, I was capable to over clock to 4.two Ghz.

Excellent board for single PCI-E x16, assistance is not far off from their 890FX NB Chipset edition board, at a fraction of the cost. As far as the lack of a Mosfet Cooler, choose up the Enzotech MST-88 C1100 Forged Copper Heatsinks Item#:N82E16835708016, sold right here at the Egg for a great value of พ.99 totally free shipping! It fits perfectly and has been utilised by quite a few Testers in the course of set up of this and other boards with the 870 NB Chipset! They have a fair memory assistance list at Gigabyte Web site but i chose my personal memory not on either list 870A or 890FX , which is running oe at 1.5v(as i do not like overclocking voltage unless essential) still 1600mhz at CL 7 and runs smooth and cool with both Phenom II 955 BEand Phenom II 1090T BE! At this cost definitely none so far, all around common complaints slightly poor placement of components-plugins ect... but typical for this level of board, if it had been that well layed out there would be practically no require for the 890FX except for Multiple PCI-E running at x16 mode, because the incept of modern day 128-256 bit architectue Graphic Cards i see no will need as they do amazing with less hastle and less room and much less engergy all except the PRO GAMERS!

Bought this mother board a rapid replacement when my previous mother board quit working. Performs like a charm the BIOS is easy to navigate and makes over clocking your hardware really effortless. The only issue I noticed was that if your running a crossfire construct. The second slot blocks some of your SATA slots but thats the only issues Ive noticed therefore far. Not a card you would want to run a crossfire gaming build rig with.

Great choice of ports, nice cost, great create top quality. Bank 1 and two memory slots had been bad**Bank three and 4 had been fine, but no dual channel.Read other thoughts. The technique tried to boot, but had with three extended beeps. Manual says "Re-seat graphics card." Forum hunting says it is memory. Random newegg purchaser of this board stated "Try a PSǘ keyboard. Some thing to do w/ usb keyboard." Random newegg guy is appropriate. I removed the keyboard and the method booted with RAM populating Bank 1 and 3, operating in dual channel. Now running the USB keyboard from the front USB port with no problems.

It does what it says it does (after some work). I got the 2.1 revision, yah? Northbridge temp sensor stuck at 80 (unless it usually runs at 80 degree C). It does read if it goes more than 80 degrees but even from a fresh start following a night down, begins at 80 degree C. Identified instability in system with NB temps exceed 100 degrees. Heavy network usage drives temps up (but I believe the NB does manage the ethernet so it does make sense). Stock heatsinks are a joke, I'm already hunting for a replacement heatsink. Also to take complete advantage of the SATA controllers for RAID or AHCI you require to update your BIOS to the newest version. I had to do a fundamental install in IDE mode to update the bios by means of @Bios. Afterwards install was a breeze.Audio plug is odd place.I have no thought what form factor Gigabyte follows, will not mount up to all points to the situation. I'm messing 1, you just have to be a small a lot more cautious about flex.Does this technique not have an choice to turn silent boot off? I would like my motherboard to do some self checks. This is certainly not for a beginner comp builder. You may well get lucky but the heatsink on the NB is ineffective and will lead to instabilities. Its not worth RMA'ing for me so I just reseated the NB with some MX-2 and have had the system on prime95 for 18 hours and counting (while downloading/uploading to a neighborhood ftp) at the stuck temp of 80. Before the NB would peak at 125 degree C and crash my method.I'm sorry Gigabyte, I applied to defend you saying you did your job at a great price tag point but this weak NB heatsink? I feel like you guys re-utilised the 770 heatsinks (which had its own share of issues).I'm off to come across an aftermarket heatsink for the NB. I wish Gigabyte would sell some of the heatsinks off their larger finish models. Nonetheless gave it a threeǛ eggs because it does run. For the value I can't complain but if you add the fees of all the aftermarket heatsinks I must have gone with a larger up mobo.
