Blah blah blah functions has anything it says. Snap, crackle, pop. Analog audio excellent is so undesirable I am now contemplating choices - do I purchase a discrete sound card, a USB sound card, a digital audio receiver, or a whole new motherboard? Great lord the audio excellent is terrible and I consider it's obtaining worse. Not a good sign.

A lot of ports, appears stable, UAB3, SATA3, and much more Static in sound, not Intel This is an all around incredibly great motherboard. It runs extremely smoothly, and all I changed in the BIOS was put the video card to very first adapter. But, the sound is really disappointing. On both the rear speaker port, and the front case (HD Audio) port, the audio out and microphone in have a fair bit of static. I haven't tried anything else, but even to just have headphones on and no sound playing, there is a low background static. I'd seriously advise a dedicated sound card. Other than that, this motherboard is 1 of my favourite AMD boards.

It was the initial program I built from scratch in more than 7 years, so I was a tiny worried. As it turned out, unnecessarily. I combined this mb with Mushkin Enhanced Silverline 8GB Ram and AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz and I am incredibly happy with the result.Installation(apart from RAM) was quite effortless. Instructions are simple and straightforward to adhere to. All cables are correctly marked(important thing for a guy like me). It nearly felt like putting lego blocks together:pEverything worked excellent from the commence. Absolutely none. I am glad friend convinced me to try GIGABYTE. CD has excellent monitoring computer software and, for some cause, Norton Internet Security(meh). BIOS is very customizable.

-Worth price tag-Satisfactory quantity of ports (USB, SATA, and so on.) -Northbridge temperature is worrying-Southbridge heatsink is loose-Memory slot 3 is hosed-Personal computer won't turn on if front USB ports are plugged in-Blue screens, blue screens, blue screens...General, an awful develop. I've replaced practically every single component due to vague memory dumps. The memory has been underclocked, and the a variety of pc elements reseated. What's left? Oh! Hello there, GA-870A-UD3. At this point, I've been with out a functioning laptop for more than a month. I can't RMA the board mainly because Gigabyte doesn't provide advanced shipping. And I sure as hell don't want to give this business additional dollars. But what can I do? Manufacturer Response:Dear Consumer,Thank you for your comments. Lots of ports in the back, like 1394, e-SATA, USB-3 and additional USB-two ports than you will most likely use. There aren't any screw holes in two of the corners so these corners have no physical help. This wouldn't be so poor but the 24-pin PSU cable connects close to one particular of the corners and requires a fair bit of force to get it in.Possibly this is an situation with my Gigabyte Triton case, but the MB's energy LED pinout calls for a three-pin cable though my case has a two-pin cable. Connecting the two-pin cable to the MB's + pin and the unlabeled pin subsequent to it appears to operate. The onboard Ethernet freaked out and became unresponsive right after much less than a week. Deleting the driver below Windows (Win 7 64-bit) and letting it auto-reinstall fixed the issue. Somehow Windows was in a position to scramble the Ethernet so badly that it wouldn't operate when booting under Linux. I'm not confident how that's even feasible. The PCIEx4 slot shares bandwidth with the two PCIEx1 slots so working with it disables the PCIEx1 slots, and vice-versa, but who cares about PCIEx1? I normally skip the driver CD that comes with MBs and just use the drivers auto-installed by Windows. On the other hand Win 7 wasn't able to discover a USB-three driver, so you need to have to use the 1 on the CD.

This board looked to be precisely what I needed. It accepts the AMD 6 core processor; the board has USB 2 and 3 and lots of USB and SATA ports. Board has been problematic due to the fact purchased. Every component in my rig has been replaced except the board and nevertheless the unit provides random reboots, the BSOD and wont energy up. Tried three brands of memory, two video cards, new energy provide, new tough drives, etc., but to no avail. Gigabyte buyer service is WORTHLESS. I wanted to return the board and have exchange, but they wont enable an exchange with no spending hours upon hours on the phone. They wanted just about every make model and spec of each sort of hardware I have ever used on the board.... I spent a lot more than the hundred bucks I paid for this worhtless board in time alone speaking with an asian person on the telephone (over four hours) whom, by the way, was friendly but Very tough to fully grasp and whom had diffuculty understanding me. I ultimately demanded to just get an RMA and have the board replaced, but she mentioned they do NOT send out any replacement board until they go thru this entire process to their satisfaction afterwhich I have to send them the board on my dime. They will then run the test with their elements and if they dont have immediate failure, they return the very same board. When this board fails it does so at random instances; so how can their five minute test discover a issue. I have wasted HOURS UPON HOURS troubleshooting, replacing components, attempting every little thing under the sun to get this piece of junk to operate. Finally decided MY TIME IS WORTH More than the lousy hundred dollars this thing cost. Im going to do what other people with failures have carried out, purchase a ASUS board and move forward. I WILL Under no circumstances Purchase GIGABYTE Again, and I suggest you rethink your obtain also if seeking at these folks.

Specifically what it says on the tin (after you update the BIOS). Just before I updated my BIOS, this motherboard crashed each and every time I woke my computer from sleep. Updating my BIOS borked my Windows installation for some purpose. I had to reinstall. It works now, but I still wish Gigabyte had place some a lot more work into the BIOS ahead of release. (Kudos to them for in fact releasing updates and not just abandoning their consumer, although.) I haven't in fact utilised the USB3 or SATA 6gb ports yet, so don't blame me if they turn out to have concerns. There's an FDD connector, which is good if you just time-traveled right here from 1989 and brought all your floppies with you.

Hex core compatibility out of the box, excellent overclocking bios possibilities, a lot of SATA III ports, lots of USB ports, very good all about mid-level AM3 mobo. Didn't contain RS-232 header to back panel adapter, but then no one else contains it any longer either.

When I asked associates to aid me analyze my difficulties, they all said Gigabyte tends to make great motherboards. At least I knew I had started by deciding upon a top quality product. I had built a couple of genuinely cheapo computer systems; this was my very first high quality construct. It powered up. The LED's worked, but absolutely nothing else. No bios screen. No beeps. Nothing. I had associates step me by way of a reexamination of everything I had carried out. Even replaced the video card. Absolutely nothing worked. Arrrrgh! I've still got to face my wife with news that the personal computer doesn't work. Manufacturer Response:Dear Customer,Thank you for your comments. Fantastic capabilities (USB three., Sata three) as well as legacy interfaces. Simple install and setup. Extensive Bios options. Rapid bootup. I leaned towards five eggs, but I didn't like the heat sink setup on the north and south bridge chips (they really feel loose). I removed the heat sinks and applied some Arctic Silver thermal compound to the bridge chips and reinstalled the heat sinks. Could not make a difference, but I feel far better! This MB was component of a new Pc build. Corsair TX750 PS, 8GB Kingston DDR3 RAM, AMD 955 Quad Core and 1TB WD Sata3 drive. Utilized existing MSI GT250 video card. Loaded Win 7 64 bit OS. Win 7 performance index - CPU ɩ.three, RAM = 7.five, HD = 5.9. Loaded numerous XP VirtualBox VM and 1 64 bit Ubuntu VM. Every little thing has run with out any issues. I hugely advise this MB.

Got this motherboard from a buddy's account, cheapest value on the net. Plenty of connectors. usb3, dual video slots. Capacitors appear to be really sturdy. The north bridge heat sink is slightly loose and gets warm, not too warm but it's one thing to be concerned about if overclocking. The stock RAM frequency on my Gskill chips 񢃀MHz) did not work on this motherboard; lowered it down to 1333MHz and it's now perfect. This is some thing to have a look at if having annoying BSODs. great motherboard. very stable with a lot of several features. runs cool compared to what numerous individuals are claiming. mabe i got a lucky board? also works great in linux with a mythtv system. it has been a wonderful motherboard for my method. it can deal with much more then what i have going on it. nonetheless have room for much more television tunners, challenging drive space, and far more ram if required. could have the sata ports moved over a tiny so it is out of the way of my video card but they are still fine. i also wish it would have atleast one additional usb header on the baord so i could hook up the lcd screen of my case to the inside and not have to run it threw the back to the outside. i have this mother baord in my media center with an AMD phenom ii x4 3.2ghz cpu, 4gb ram, four.2tb disk space for my media, a blu ray drive, hauppauge 1600 x2, all in a silverstone htpc case. it is all running truly fantastic for my requirements. it has been stable sense the day i set it up which has been about 4 months now. i like the fact that i ahve so numerous usb ports onboard becuase i ahve almost everyone filled up for all the devices from the remote, transmitter for cable boxes, and gamepad, bluetooth adapter for wii remote, nes contoller, n64 contoller, and other things like that. and to the folks complaining about the heat sink being shed, i have in no way had a motherboard yet come out that wasnt that way. following letting it run for a handful of hrs it will develop into stiff and wont move so simply like it is supose to.

This board exceeded my expectations. This rev two.two board came with the newest bios, F4. All devices except the on-board sound and HP printer had been configured automatically by the previously installed Linux OS, opensuse 11.3 and Fully funvtioning on the Very first Boot. NO OEM DRIVERS Vital. Employed YAST to reconfigure sound and printer. Install of opensuse 11.four rc2 takes 15 minutes. From Newegg through UPS to me in two days. The board is narrower than other ATX boards. Comes with only a floppy and two Sata cables. The driver DVD is useless and not needed for Linux. Another Windows kiss up. Produced a handful of accommodating changes to the bios settings. Otherwise the bios was fine as is.MICROSOFT IS NOT THE ONLY OS OUT THERE.

A lot of ports and manual is very good. This motherboard is the worst I had in developing computers so far I built about 6 including this one. I guess other individuals who purchased this MoBo had been lucky I guess mine is defective. If I enable the USB three. it would make the system unstable and crash and if you add an expansion card such as a pci usb card with internal header (because I necessary 1 more header for my pro lcd M-Play) on any of the pci slot it would overheat the northbridge and crash (bsod) my computer. I don't know why this takes place but I guess it's just defective. I still got it working stable on my HTPC despite the fact that I disabled the USB three. and I uninstalled the usb pci card now I have two front usb ports on my case that's not connected simply because this mobo only has two 9-pin headers. I also disabled the COM and Serial port in bios just to be positive. I also reseated my CPU and installed new thermal paste. Now I can at least play Business of Heroes Tales of Valor with no my personal computer crashing. I do not suggest this motherboard buy a thing else not gigabyte. I updated all the drivers even the bios is updated to F3. I don't want to RMA to the manufacturer since I got it working stable, but for how long I don't know! I purchased this mother board a fast (and cheap) replacement when my earlier motherboard stopped operating. This board looked to be precisely what I needed. It accepts the AMD X6 processors. The South Bridge supports up to 12 USB 2.Ǘ.1 ports and a Renesas chip that supports 2 USB 3.ǘ. ports on the back panel. In contrast to numerous posts, this 1 didn’t seem to suffer the loose North Bridge or South Bridge difficulty. In summation, almost everything I’ll need for numerous years at a extremely affordable price. Doesn’t support DDR3-1600 without OCing. As you’ll see in my “Other Thoughts”, this board appears to be really sensitive to the sort of RAM installed. The Utility DVD is only good to get the USB, SATA, Ethernet adapter and HD audio hardware operating. It’s funny that some of the utility software, i.e., @BIOS is already out of date and instructs you to get the newest update when you attempt to use it. The board is not created to fit the regular case in that there is no support for the board on the edge where the ATX power connection sits. Technique info shows RAM modules in Slots and 1, although they are really installed in and two? The BIOS reflects Dual Channel, non-ganged. Go figure I did a clean install of the OS and was continually frustrated by the BSODs going by way of the quite a few 鳖+) Windows updates and restarts. Windows solutions suggested everything from a bad antivirus program to bad breath (bad video card, bad drivers, bad memory, etc.) . Memory test initially tested bad then good. I was 5 minutes away from calling for an RMA when I remembered how finicky Gigabyte boards are about memory. I initially installed DDR3-1333 RAM, but immediately after I switched to DDR3-1600 (running as 1333) RAM everything settled in smoothly and the OS and apps installed without a hiccup.
