Comment:
This is a fairly basic board, but does nevertheless have some fantastic features. the charge whilst off on the usb is cool and it supposedly adds power to the usb for more rapidly charging, but i actually dont notice. the hdmi on it looked funny on my screen, im not confident why but the colors were horribly off and what not. but the vga was great and i envision that the dvi would be very good too, but none of my monitors are dvi compatible. my phenom 2 x4 965 BE fit excellent and was recognised initially boot, it was a dream to set up, even although i flipped about the power switch on initially try.

A complete featured board with SATA-III and USB3 plus embedded ATI 4250 video you just can’t go incorrect. On top of that this board tracks memory quite well and will OC it without having effort. So quite a few other boards I’ve had to manually configure the ram for regular settings this board not only does that for you but will OC to a much greater but stable setting. My ram on this board is Ripjaws 1066 Ɨ-7-7-21) and the board automatically OC’d it to 1333 with no need to have of tweaking from me. Even with no changing to a SATA3 drive this produced my technique considerably snappier but with the quicker drives or superior however SSD’d this board genuinely performs. There are plenty of fan headers, an 8 pin CPU power, and internal USB񳅢 headers, plus a COM1 and CD Audio as well. Like so quite a few boards these days the SATA connectors are 90deg format and because this is a complete form factor board they are suitable under the HDD’s in a regular case. This makes connecting the HDD’s a little far more difficult regrettably, but not the finish of the world. There are a number of distinct rev’s of this board mine is REV 2.2 others are two., 2.1, three.. These distinct revisions can differ rather a bit do when flashing your board or configuring your ram you’ll have to pay attention to the rev level. With ram the socket coloring coding ought to be appropriate generally spot your ram beginning in bank two (slots twoƀ or 3ƀ) very first. Years ago I got away from Gigabyte as they went by way of a poor period I’m glad to say they are once once again an excellent mainboard. I purchased this board because the ASRock boards I’ve been working with lately are finicky to configuring ram and even worst they do not support USB devices nicely, not even close to nicely in truth. This board replaced my ASRock M3A790GXH-128M and not only can I OC my memory considerably faster than the ASRock but even my least compatible removable HDD’s have no issue on the new Gigabyte platform.

This motherboard exceeded my expectations. Solid construction, plenty of connections, SATA III, USB three., and integrated video just in case my GTX 460 ever decides to die. Purchased this motherboard along with an AMD Phenom II X2 560 BE in a MC combo deal. My motherboard was v2.2; it came with the most up-to-date BIOS (F7) installed. Regardless of what some may possibly say, this GA-880GA will unlock cores (either they purchased a CPU that will not unlock or they don’t know how to unlock it in the BIOS). So I’m here to get rid of the “don’t know how” part from the equation. Go into the BIOS, look for “advanced BIOS capabilities,” then subsequent to CPU unlock pick “enabled.” Reboot the computer, and bingo, all 4 cores show up in the BIOS (plus if you look in Windows under “system” it shows up as a Phenom B60 or if you’re operating CPU-Z it will show the exact same). Didn't want to tweak any voltage settings. Bumped CPU up to 4000 and NB up to 2600 employing a CM 212+ (both can be found under M.I.T. in the BIOS). Continued below... These are not cons, just continued from pros above. Every thing is stable. Will try to squeeze yet another .1 or .two out once I reconfigure the 212+ for a push/pull fan setup. CPU WEI is a quite solid 7.4. Lastly, I identified the ideal marriage operating 8GB ƔƦGB) of Kingston Hyper Blu 1600 in this machine. Bumping NB from 2000 to 2600 made the Kingston go from 7.five to 7.7 WEI (memory set at 1600, not 1333). Also, this Kingston can overclock to 2208 (look it up at overclockersclub), right behind the leader, Mushkin Radioactive 1600, which scored a 2220. Bang for the buck ƔGB) on sale at less than ล AR (Kingston rebates are trustworthy too) is an outright steal. Make sure you disable the floppy drive as others have mentioned. If Windows seems locked up throughout the installation, I recommend returning the motherboard and obtaining one more. Mine worked fine for the duration of the initial develop (loaded W7 in 15 minutes on a Vertex 2 SSD); even so I later deleted a partition on my SSD in order to carry out a secure erase. When I went to reinstall W7 it took forever to get it to load. Cleared the CMOS, redid all my values and nevertheless no luck. Just bought an Agility two SSD and nonetheless the same issue. Now it’s time to swap out the motherboard for an additional 1.

I have bought at least two dozen GigaByte Mobo's in the last two 1ǘ years from Newegg. We switched from Dell to developing our own for our office. Nothing but good results until now. I have Corsair XMS3 DDR3 *Gig of memory on this box with a Corsair 550 Watt power provide and lowend EVGA video to support dual monitors. I can run for numerous days sometime and other times only for a few hours prior to the technique resets as if I pushed the reset button. I am entirely baffled and don't know what to do. This board is version 2.two running F7 BIOS. A number of times as the method begins to come back I enter setup to check temparatures and almost everything is reasonable with CPU never becoming over 40 degrees celsius so I assume that can not be it. It at times appears that when I have a lot of Windows open (IE 8, Outlook, and so on.) is when this will take place. I can typically open a number of Windows and leave and come back in the morning with no adjust to the program. Perhaps memory complications? Purchased 3Ǘ񳏋 This is supposed to be my production machine and I have been lucky so far not to lose anything huge when it dies. I am out of the 30 Day return policy. Superior job up to now Gigabyte but you know it only takes 1 "Oh Shucks" to wipe out a boatload of Atta Boys. Possibly it's time to give an additional Mobo brand a try. Decent value with the combo for amd x61075 and this board immediately after rebate. I got both for a bit much less than 300 in the course of the blackfriday-christmas sale. 2 slots for gpus built in gpu in case the gpus die. 4 slots for two dual channeling. If you purchased the 2x4 gb ripjaws ddr3 1600 for 100 dollars its ideal. Also no need to fear flashing bios with dual bios. Much more fault tolerance. My old motherboard bios appears to have died out by a power surge so that is vital for me. pci express is not evenly spread out.pci express 16x + pci express 4x.Not that excellent for high finish gpus if you want to crossfire them.Ideal to use 16 x 16 x if you are going high finish. mid end gets 8x 8x and lower tier gets 4x 4x. 4x only can deal with about 40 badwidth. Not a great machine for high finish cards but I will at most use 1 great high finish or 2 low ends anyway since I dont will need that considerably efficiency.

It worked for a brief time appropriately. I have the similar difficulties as other individuals here with the rev two.2 board. It would shut off and corrupt my raid array. Could not boot it to the array anymore and could not delete the array. Have reloaded numerous times through the month I have owned this board and the very same factor kept happening more than time. I have flashed the bios back to the F6 version...It seems to be runnning stable for now. So that would be my suggestions to any person with the rev 2.two board. Attempt the F6 bios and see if it functions.

I Really like the board size. All edges and corners are supported -- just about every other mobo I have owned has been just a small too shy, width wise, of meeting the next row of motherboard posts/stands. I enjoy that this board is fully supported -- much less flexing when installing components, and so on. A great peace of thoughts. It also runs very cool.Built in video is decent.High high quality capacitors and other electronic components.I adore that the SATA ports are pointed towards the front of the PC.USB three. and SATA 3 at this price point is unbeatable. Wasted HOURS trying to install Windows because of a BIOS setting. There was an option for a USB mass storage device that I had to turn off in order to install Windows. Why this was on in the 1st location, I have NO concept. It have to have believed my kb or mouse was a bootable USB device. Deducting one egg for this, as spending hours troubleshooting this was extremely lame, and I have to wonder if they even tried installing Windows after putting the latest BIOS on.Could use superior documentation of certain BIOS alternatives, in the manual. Attempting to figure things out by trial and error is not the greatest way. There's a TON of USB headers on the board... but most situations only use 1 header and Gibabyte charges additional for an adapter if you want to take benefit of all the unused ones. Get rid of the legacy devices and bring the cost down even far more. Seriously, who in the globe uses PS2 ports any far more? And why would you want to construct a new PC only to use outdated IDE devices? And firewire -- WHO makes use of that -- practically no 1. And a floppy controller... come on -- no one uses that either. Get rid of these items and give us the adapter for the USB headers on the board.

Board is quite. Every thing is where it should be. Can't tell anything else, can't test it because Newegg lied twice about sending a promotional gift card to me that was supposed to go toward my energy supply... So I kept aiting, then asking, then waiting, then asking about it. can't even test it because trusting Newegg in promotions is worthless. Bought this mobo & AMD Phenom II 1075T hex core, was told I would get my "promotional ฟ.00 gift card" emailed to me 4 days following invoice. Figured I'd wait on that to put toward my energy supply. Waited. Waited. Emailed, was told it would be REsent. Wasn't sent in the initially spot & by no means got the most recent sending either... So now I've just gone ahead & ordered an inferior (lower cost helped the status of that) power supply so I can TEST THESE in a couple of days, otherwise the time will run out waiting on Newegg to come through.. I am basing my rating 100% on how I really feel about this product Suitable NOW. Evaluation Should alter as soon as I get my power supply, but Newegg extended the time by not yet fulfilling their their promotion. As of the moment, this item would only serve me as a wall decoration. Thanks Newegg

Making use of this board in my property server. With the plethora of characteristics and expandability I anticipate it to give me room to expand for quite a while. Also, this board goes through the POST fast! I'm employing a Vertex two SSD for my OS and everything comes up in about 10-15 seconds! Box was a small battered but the contents had been fine. Also the location of the energy and SATA connections butts up against my drives. This is also the fault of the case I decided to use but I thought I'd mention it.

Supposedly had 8 working SATA II/III ports.Supposedly had 2 working PCI-E x16 slots. Plugging drives into ports four & 5 on the SB850 would trigger the computer to not complete post. Tried drives from each and every main manufacturer and ran into this dilemma. Only way to resolve it was to set them to IDE mode, but the drives would only function in the OS a PIO mode four (that is a max of ㅅMBps far from the 150MBps+ that contemporary drives can achieve.Plugging a SAS card into this board would only work if the card was in PCI-E x16 slot 1. If the second PCI-E x16 slot was utilized the program would not recognize the board. No other cards had been plugged into the system. Lastly, after a failed boot with drives plugged into the troublesome SATA ports (in SATA mode) the BIOS configuration screen was blank and could not be modified. Only way to get BIOS options back was to clear the CMOS.This board is a rev two.two. In much less than a year Gigabyte has produced 5 versions of this board ƒ., 2.1, two.two, three., three.1), 3 of these revisions inside the past 6 months. One thing does not seem right. If this board and my interactions with them is any indication of Gigabyte's future, Remain AWAY! This board was to be used in a production machine, so there was no overclocking or overvolting. This board was bought due Gigabytes track record of reliability. Tried to get in touch with Gigabyte to see if there was something I could do to resolve the problem via BIOS settings and selections. I provided a detailed explanation of the issues as properly as an image of the BIOS screen. Six days later I get a 1 line response about the performance of the unacceptable workaround I told them about. No attempt was produced to truly resolve or investigation the complications I detailed in the aid ticket. I used to get all of my motherboards from Gigabyte but following this encounter I'll be seeking at other producers and recommending that other people do the very same.Thank <insert deity> for NewEgg's Customer Service. They would need to have a larger board to add any much more connections. Uncomplicated to setup. Some thought went into this to make it so 2 double width video cards could be installed with a lot of vent space in between. You had better plug in all the SATA cables you can use before you start adding drives. The ports point sideways. This does appear to help keep them seated, but adding cables later is Tough. Colorful & color coded.

None... received very first mobo in late Dec 2010. Installed and loaded Win7. Installed 1 driver and rebooted to a blank screen. Would not even post. RMA'd... Received new one 2 weeks later and this one was even worse. Absolutely nothing from the get go. Blank screen. No Post. No beep. I was stumped so I took it to get checked out. Tech swapped every thing out which includes the CPU........ DOA I like Gigabyte and have built various systems with their merchandise before. I may possibly switch to one more manufacturer.
