GIGABYTE Radeon HD 4650 GV-R465D2-1GI Video Card
Comment:
Quiet fan, great interface, does its job effectively. Driver install got a tiny difficult, but that was partly my fault for not removing the previous graphics card's software very first (also running ATI). I'm operating a Dell Dimension 4600 desktop, now about 7 years old, with a dual-monitor setup and Windows XP SP2. Old-school, but comfortable. I had upgraded to a Radeon X1650 about 3 years ago to run two monitors, , but one particular of its video outputs was acting up so I got this replacement. This card is possibly more than I'll ever truly need, to be truthful. The ATI computer software on the enclosed CD worked just fine, but only after I uninstalled my old card's ATI interface. I was hoping I could just install on major of it, but no.

1gb card definitly helped my display. Price is not poor with the mail in rebate. I can't even use the HDMI port! My slots are held down with a flap instead of individual screw for every single one particular, and since the HDMI is appropriate on the edge, there is no cable that will fit! I also had lots of problems with the drivers. Had to do a manual set up as an alternative of the plug and play, and then it finallly was good.

Was straightforward to install. I didn't have to uninstall the Cat drivers (were the most recent) but had to set up the device drivers that came on the install disk. AGP restriction, most likely better to invest in a new Computer. As others talked about, it does not come with the power adapter.

Easy set up. Phenomenal efficiency. Operates with XP, Vista and Win 7. Price tag for performance cant be beat. Place of HDMI necessitates custom connector. Driver set up problematic. Card configuration needlessly complicated... but that goes for all ATI. Installed on old MSI MB, 3.1 X2 core, two GB DDr2, ATA bus...(shudder) with this card and Win 7 this little guy I put together for my daughter out of spare components out performs my initial gen quad core. five.7 Win practical experience. It runs Crysis on Medium. If you need to have to breathe life back into your old MB, this is your ticket.

GIGABYTE Radeon HD 4650 GV-R465D2-1GI Video Card
Comment:
This is a good card! Mine runs like a champ, for getting an AGP card. I have an old system that doesn't have a PCI-E slot. It runs games great and benches extremely effectively, once again keeping in consideration it is an old AGP technique using an AGP card. Does not have a heat concern, and runs most MMO's at pretty conservative settings nicely and without having lag at 1680x1050 resolution. AGP has such a limited bandwidth lower PCI-E cards still beat this out, but not since of the card, just a product of the slot. It did fail FFXIV's benchmarks, but yet again I know it's the AGP slot's fault rather than the card itself. I would very recommend this card for everyone nonetheless needing to squeeze a small much more life out of an older non-PCIE program.

- Plays games very properly for being agp based. I performed the ultimate test by playing the Crysis SP demo at 1600x900 with all medium settings and it did lag a bit, but was kinda playable. But would most likely have to lower some settings much more to be fantastic as it utilizes your gpu and cpu equally it seems.- Plays Battleswarm , Doom 3, and Guild Wars with max settings.- Quiet fan - You will most most likely have to disable the UAA microsoft HD audio driver in device manager or it will freeze at boot.- Tested this card with via and nforce2 based chipset mobo's and Both gave me massive cpu usage issues when just making use of my desktop. When I say this, I mean, its not just solid 100% all the time, its whenever I execute an action with graphics.- If you use Rocket dock, or object dock, say goodbye to your fluid mouse more than motion. As it will be choppy and cause cpu spikes, even with just a few icons on it.- If you use gmail for example with the background image, you will notice that your computer system has a tough time scrolling up and down the page and is choppy as well.- Gaming: Which I know I said plays fantastic for agp, but to get it to play great I had to tinker with settings in my bios and CCC to hold the screen from tearing. Disabling AI and using V-sync all the time. And to hold from random objects in the game from flying all more than the location, "Crysis cut scenes." I found all this after installing every mixture of drivers from Gigabyte, ATI, and my abit motherboard. From old to new. I even installed drivers from other HD cards from the 5000 series to the 2000 series and they truly installed nevertheless did the same factor. I had removed all old drivers prior to installing the new ones in safe mode employing Driver Cleaner Pro 1.five and Driver Sweeper. I had reformatted and installed Windows XP Pro and Household at least 12 instances downloading all the updates from microsoft as nicely. My test systems had been: Abit NF7-S v2. "nforce2", this card, 2x 1gig gskill and 2x 512 alienware ram, wd raptor 36 gig sata, athlon xp 2500+ overclock to 3200+ and ran stock, 450 watt raidmax psu, 1 TB samsung sata, tdk dvd-rom. Also switching the mobo and cpu with a asus kv8-mx/s, "via" mobo with an athlon 64 3200+.Final believed's- I think that the individuals who say its working fantastic don't comprehend it isn't 100% functional. Returning it. Beginning fresh. Game on!

Updated an old pc with this card. The noise from the Nividia 6200 was crazy. This one is quite incredibly quiet. The heatsink is extremely large. Efficiency is a lot far better but the CPU is now the bottleneck. None The old celeron D is the bottleneck. I will update the CPU I guess.

AGP interface for older motherboards. Cheap! And Newegg had it here in 1 day! None really, for what it is. My son is going to college so he's obtaining a laptop. But desires to play recent computer system games on his pc; didn't want to upgrade his motherboard to 1 with PCI express. This ATI chip based card is a substantially far more strong alternative to the NVidia AGP cards nevertheless readily available. So I uninstalled ALL the NVidia drivers/software, installed the card (don't forget the power connection!) and booted up in XP secure mode exactly where the plug and play asked for the cd, place it in and the drivers were installed. Working with the DVI cable for the monitor, it wanted to call that "monitor two", which means that the monitor had no signal when I did a regular boot.So I had to go back into protected mode and make sure that it was selected as monitor 1, and when I rebooted, it was just fine.He is now playing Call of Duty 4 just fine! (And not employing my pc anymore!!) This card opens up a lot of gaming opportunities for older motherboards.

Hdmi input, Somewhat appealing design, Quiet. Instalation can be an situation on particular motherboards. If you have a hp/compaq distinct motherboard made by asus, do your study. This card was bought just for enjoyable. If you are like me and have tons of old parts laying around from builds you have carried out for individuals, give this a shot. Compaq/HP use the identical motherboard for a number of systems. Nonetheless, there are various variations of boards. I had 3 boards (A7V8X-LA) that all looked the exact same. However, one particular was a kamet2 board and the card would not operate. Soon after searching the net, I found this was a prevalent difficulty. I am not certain if a bios update would have fixed this or not, simply because I changed it to a distinct board. The kamet2 board worked with older agp cards, so I know the slot wasn't negative. Just do your analysis, and you will be fine. Turn your throw away parts into an HTPC.

driver installation not so negativequiet when not beneath a loadfinest AGP video card get for the income can get noisy underneath loadperformance not significantly superior than Nvidia 7600GT (under XP) even worse under Windows 7ATI drivers can't play older games really wellcard does not come as pictured; has 4 pin leading mounted power supply connector and no cable accessoriesWindows 7 efficiency 30% worse than XP With 320 ATI stream processors and 1GB of memory, I thought that this would be a good step up from my Nvidia 7600GT that had only 17 total shaders and 256 meg RAM. As it is, it is barely quicker than my 7600GT and noisier to boot. I have to turn off GL Extensions for it to play Quake three Arena properly which actually hurts the frame rate. Efficiency underneath Windows 7 is particularly disappointing. Right here's hoping ATI will strengthen their drivers.Luckily my case was tall adequate to accommodate the best mounted 4 pin power connector. I'm keeping my card as I don't know of a far better acquire....but buyer beware!

Have 3 Ghz P4 NWood. Plays L4D smoothly and Hulu video smoothly. Appears to run cooler than old ATI 1650XT HIS card I was making use of. That card started having issues. This card is good replacement...so far, and hopefully will retain my old program operating another year or so. Nevertheless testing card. None but. The CD drivers worked, but the newer AMD/ATI website drivers had been greater. Install them instead.

Low-cost, AGP, Good massive heat sink Horrible driver support, I tried so quite a few occasions and version that I couldn't tell you how i got it to operate but it does. A single point tho is I couldn't get Catalyst Control Center and other select programs to OC it. I ended up making use of ATI tray tools but it was unstable even with low level OC so I just left it at stock and will deal with it till I get my new i7 GTX 570 rig going. I believed it looks very good with its major heat sink stay about 40 c at complete load.

Has 1GB of video RAM, Gigabyte drivers are on their internet site...Went from a 128MB video card to this 1GB monster. Refresh rate is much far better and performance has increased substantially. A little big and took up two card slots. The drivers on the CD went in fine, but the installation from the Gigabyte site drivers fixed my challenge with my Catalyst Control Center. Male power plug was mounted on the base of the card in the back corner. Plugged in with out any complications. Seems like very good quality. A+ Newegg!

An ATI AGP card can nevertheless be identified -- and it'll connect to HDMI. Sweet. Haven't ordered it yet. I see so numerous posts right here of individuals attempting to get 2020 efficiency out of a technology that was phased out starting in 2004. If it'll hook my old Abit Socket 478 Pentium 4 to an HDMI Television then I'm pleased. If you don't realize what it's limitations are, shut up.

I purchased this for a buddy who plays games on his maxed-out Pentium four. He can play Just Cause two (no, not max settings, not max fps... but it functions fine), left4dead 1ǘ, ut3 on that old factor, and that's saying anything. And it's only running @ 4x agp, cuz his motherboard sucks! (No offense joe). I Couldn't keep it, had to give it to my buddy:-)but seriously, it's GDDR2? possibly that's all agp can handle, but... Makes use of a single typical 4pin molex connection."You the man!""can I be the woman?""..."

Great specs for an AGP card. Functions fine in XP Pro SP3 on an 8 year old Asus AMD mobo. Enables Windows 7 to run, as opposed to my old Radeon 7500. But all in all see cons. Operates in XP, but I nonetheless cannot stream something close to 1080 or even 720p video. Just a single of the reasons for obtaining this card. It enables my dual booting with Windows 7 Enterprise as a test bed, but the drivers DO NOT Operate! I have tried every repair published and each and every combination of drivers. No matter what I get freezes and even total crashes in Win7 from the dreaded "Display Driver Stopped Responding and Has Recovered"... if it recovers. The only driver that has been stable is the plain old MS vga driver. But this makes the card somewhat useless as only 16mb of video memory is reported in windows... Aero doesn't operate, and no streaming video even at lowest settings operates correctly. three stars is for it working in XP. If I could get it to perform adequately in 7, which a DX10.1 capable card should, I would give it five. I could return this issue.

Nforce2, Athlon XP3200+ - brought my Windows 7 expertise back to life. Upgraded from Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB.Possibly the last AGP card I'll ever obtain, added a couple of excellent years to my older rig. Really should have thought to be a DDR3릘M model, but no complaints. Installed a "hotfix" driver from ATI, but no troubles so far. A bit pricey, but superior than acquiring a new Computer. Hopefully this will be good enough for FFXIV.

Far better upgrade to my previous x1650 pro 512 ddr2 agp. Thats not saying much even so. Excellent card overall I got it primarily for my new monitor Acer p235h 23inch. in a position to run at high resolution. Just attempting to acquire a couple of additional months from an old technique just before developing a new a single. HDMI positioning is terrible. My case covers half of it, greater luck subsequent time on that 1. If you need to have an upgrade and can only use agp for whatever purpose, this card will do the trick.

1gb of RAM handles HD content properly.HDMI output let me use my computer with my HDTV. I'm now using my old Computer as an HTPC with a fairly decent graphics card for it's class.Inexpensive card to recycle old method to HTPC or other common goal machine. AGP is outdated. Can't really max out graphics when playing newer games. Almost everything defaults to medium settings. I got this card to replace an ATI FireGL T128. Carrying out so allowed me to play games at reasonable frame rates with acceptable graphics.I'm happy with the card & recommend it to other individuals.
