GIGABYTE Radeon HD 4650 GV-R465D2-1GI Video Card
Comment:
HD4650 AGP card. Simple install with drivers from Gigabyte help site. Noticable distinction in game play - upgrade from 1650 pro to this HD 4650 (Xblades, Pray, Painkiller). Hopefully will be able to play far more current games now, time will tell. Photographs are not accurate. Molex connector on top of board, not PCI connector on back of board as pictured. Not a problem with my case, but you could want to verify there is space in your case for clearance about 1". You will not get VGA adapter or the power cable as pictured, at least I did not. Box was not sealed, so cables and adapter may well have been taken out. Like other individuals have said in testimonials, just uninstall all video drivers just before you install this card. Power your system off and install. Download the drivers from Gigabyte's support site, install them and reboot. You will be up and rinning in no time! This will allow me to get a couple of much more years (hopefully) out of what has been a extremely great and dependable system. I am Greatful to ATI for continuing to help AGP, otherwise I was looking at a process upgrade for a PCIE vid card. Oh, and Newegg ROCKS!

installed on 8 year old 񢉓)dell dimension 4550 (p4 2. ghz, 2x512 pc3200 ram) plays 720 p films quite well. plays L4D fairly excellent (on medium settings i assume).appears to be some troubles with drivers i could never ever get it fixed. didnt function on my shuttle ak35 gt2 mobo, athlonxp 1700+, 1gb pc2700. could not get it to recognize. it is incompatible it appears.when i installed on the dell, it operates, but drivers seem to be problematic. no matter how many drivers i tried i could never ever get it fixed. on startup, it was generally detecting new hardware, search for new drivers, and so on. the good thing is it didnt influence game play or hd video play back. buy this but u take your chances. i believe my athlon comp could have been too old?

This has breathed new life into my aging Dell XPS Gen two. The 9800 Pro that came with it gave up the go. The XPS Gen two has wimpy 22A 12v rails. My study indicated the 4650 gpu is 1 of the lowest power draws out there. I've been playing TF2 at almost max settings with out any problems for 2 months. Install was easy. The built in audio becomes your default device. Merely adjust back in control panel Why upgrade your personal computer when it does what you want it to?

Card is quiet excellent cooler. Had problems with the position of the HDMI port with my case. Had to trim edge of the HDMI cable so it would fit. Problably not going to make a enormous advancement in graphics efficiency if you are limited by old motherboard and processor.

1GB, DirectX ten.1, HDCP ready, HDMI. Specs out like a PCI Express card. AGP obsolete. If you require a new card, in all probability a good time to upgrade technique. A kick in the pants for older builds.

newest card for old agp motherboard, works ok for even new games. only difficulty located is flash player doesn't perform at full screen. it cost 2 eggs considering that flash player is so well-liked for web content material now. It seems no hardware acceleration driver accessible. Is there any resolution?

1Gb memory, runs quiet and cool, good bump to an older program running Win 7. Purchased as an open box item here on newegg. non so far Installed in an old Asus P4PE mobo, P4 2.67Ghz, 2Gb ram program I'm refurbing for grandkids (ages 7Ɓ). Replaced a MX400 64mb that was in system. No issues installing driver in Win7 32-bit. Just downloaded the AGP Hotfix driver from AMD's site, ran the install and 1 reboot later was operating fine. Took the Win 7 graphics rating from 1 to 6 for games, 1 to five.four for Aero.

Quickly Video for AGP, HDMI help with sound. First I have been very pleased with all Gigabyte components I have purchased in the past. The system needs for this video card are incomplete/incorrect. Specs call for a 2x3 video energy connector, but the card has a four pin molex connector. Docs and box did not contain a packing list. Initial video card I have ever purchased that did not have simple power and output cables/connectors/adapters included. Particularly selected this card over the slightly less high-priced Sapphire card since of the Gigabyte name.Wish I had gone Sapphire, it included all accessories including a hdmi cable.

What an improvement over a Radeon 9000 circa 2002! What a discomfort to install! This was NOT the 5 minute set up of a NVIDIA 460 in my Win 7 system. I spent an complete afternoon following all suggestions in this forum w/out accomplishment. Technique: Asus A7V8X, Athlon 2400, 2GB RAM, WIN XP. I purchased the product realizing an unlucky 25% or so would have tough set up matters. The manual did NOT present suggestions for these poor souls who would stumble while attempting to marry newer technologies with legacy equipment. The crucial details if you're dealing with the as soon as preferred A7V8X are: 1. Turn ON plug and play in the BIOS. (The default is OFF.) two. Allow "On Board LAN Boot RAM" in the BIOS. (The default is DISABLED.) My difficulty was that soon after installing drivers from any source (CD, Gigabyge, AMD), my screen would go black at bootup, just immediately after the Windows logo. When the BIOS sets up the motherboard hardware (specifically the onboard LAN/Ethernet capability), the resources for that (well beyond just IRQ assignments) conflict.....(see other thoughts below)... ....with what it assigns to the graphics card. When you go Plug and Play, the OS assigns resources to the graphics card which render your LAN/Ethernet helpless. The two actions I suggested above allow the OS to adequately set up the graphics card AND permit the BIOS to set up the LAN without taking the resources which the OS will will need for the graphics card! Gigabyte must at least mention typical conflicts and strongly recommend typical BIOS fixes for them. BTW, the Catalyst software is still not operating in my method. But the graphics and framerates are unbelievable for such an old method. This would seem to be the bottom line, but Gigabyte definitely deserves an egg off for zero installation guidance (which will outcome in several returns), and another egg off for impossible ccc software program...

General the card is a terrific buy with little to no cons. I have skilled no lock-ups or other system difficulties that other men and women have reported to them I say that's what RMAs are in location.

DX ten.1 and OpenGL 2.1 in an AGP form element! Brings an old method to life. :) Monster heatsink and fan!No ATi Overdrive!Doesn't make me breakfast or take out the trash.... :(Not adequate to take away an egg. I bought this to upgrade an old P4 two.8Ghz I'd purchased as a temporary replacement for my iMac that got stolen. I also bought 1GB DDR RAM (total of 2 GB) and a 320GB SATA HDD to use as my second drive to install games to, because they are significantly faster than the PATA that's the primary drive. It runs the games, but the bottleneck is the processor and it gets choppy and unplayable in large preserve takes in Warhammer on the net. Have ordered new parts to construct a Athlon II x3 gaming program to replace this 1.

Like all modern day video cards (ATI cards starting with "HD" and nVidia cards 8000 and above) this one particular is capable of hardware decoding 1080p, permitting you to use old computer system technology (mine is 9 years old) to run an HTPC. Quiet adequate for HTPC as effectively. Paying a 60% premium for AGP more than PCI-E. The cause I deducted an egg from my evaluation. Hardware decoding is not a simple plug and play procedure. Media Player Classic, for example, requires going into settings to disable particular filters and enabling DXVA. Unless you are a super-nerd (unfortunately I'm only a nerd) this can take hours to lastly sort out. When I play 1080P on a pentium four two.8 Mhz single core, the CPU usage is now about ten%.For ษ much more I went with this HD 4650 instead of the HD 3450 newegg also sells. Type of pointless I guess because I'm not gaming with this card. Just believed I'd invest a little far more in case the additional horsepower could aid with decoding. (Even although it almost certainly doesn't.)Had no difficulty installing card on XP SP3.

Fastest, finest AGP GPU on the marketplace. Gigabyte seems to have the best cost for it with the 10 dollar MIR (somoene text me to remind me to send it in). It works wonderful as a HES in my old Asus K8V-X SE motherboard with my Sempron 3300 single core on a 754 socket with a SSD. You wouldnt beleive how rapidly this old rig is...6 Year old stuff and it boots quicker than my primary rig. Potent adequate to play most games on low perf, potent adequate to play all HD 1080 (blueray). I did get the sound problem and i didnt understand it was a problem with the card untill an individual mentioned it in the evaluations. I havent fixed mine but simply because the card appears to be flawed TOWARD the HDMI. Sound works in HDMI but it wont work in the ports from the motherboard. The video vehicle overrides the direction of the audio to the back of the card. Ill get that fixed later whenever i require it. The other review had a superior post about drivers. I was disspapointed the new ten.8 drivers didnt have the 1 required. I had to install the gigabyte drivers then go back and install the catalyst from 10.8 but it kept the old Graphics Driver. Hopefully his operate about fixes it because the "overclock" does not perform appropriately (ea i cant turn the fans up and down by way of Catalyst) It does take up two slots, has audio troubles, software difficulties...commonly i would downrate it, i like gigabyte, appears like a superior card. I dont see a large problem with it other than some modest software program stuff. Trial and error is a portion of the game anyway isnt it?

It is quiet, ATI Radeon HD 4650, AGP slot, and works with no giving me any issue. Cost gouging. The price of this card is a lot greater than the similar maker, exact same GPU card with the pci-e slot. I visited Gigabyte web page and ATI web site. I found the ATI's driver for this card is newer. So I down-loaded, and employed the ATI driver. Works for me.

Price...that's about it. But...you get what you pay for. I had superior performance from my X1950 512Meg board. Likely simply because the X1950 is 256 bit and this 1 is 128. Almost everything runs choppy and slow. I utilised to run WoW and CoH on mid settings and get nice and smooth game play. Now I have to run every little thing at the lowest settings and I nonetheless get choppy gameplay and poor graphic top quality. Even my desktop apps are choppy and "scroll" when moving windows around. My X1950 stb'd after years of faithful service. My rig is fairly long in the tooth, but has been running quite nicely with crisp performance and sharp imaging. I bought this card to hold me over until I can develop a new rig. I've tried tweaking the settings, updating the drivers and all that jazz but no genuine improvements in performance can be had. Regrettably, the income spent on this card did not "breathe new life" into an aging technique. I can not think of a situation exactly where I could in very good faith reccommend this card.

Windows 7 recognized it, Comes with Windows 7 Drivers, Lets me view Blue ray movies with Power DVD immediately after driver installation. Worked out of the box. Practically no troubles installing it. Has HDMI. Heavy according to the previous ATI 9800. I had to saw a chunk of plastic off the HDMI cable to get it to fit in the HDMI slot but its not the cards fault its the situations fault for putting a bracket to hold all your cards. Bear in mind HDMI sound does not work on vista, so it says, and so far not on windows 7. But I play every thing via my surround sound method. I bought this simply because my ATI 9800 was not compatible to play blue rays. Also the HDMI port was appealing given that I had to revamped my old gaming method with this card to play Blue Ray.

The card went in easily, began proper up and extended the life to my old XP machine. The display looks much better than ever. Comes with a substantial amount of bloatware, but as soon as you knock it down to just what you need, it works fantastic. I didn't have to remove my old drivers - but my old card was also ATI based. I haven't utilised the HDMI out.Installation moved my audio out to HDMI. I had to move it back to my sound card.

Ordered this on 26 July and had it in my hands on 30 July. Newegg IS the fastest shipper of parts I have ever dealt with. All hail the Egg. Let’s face it, AGP is virtually dead and most home users do not even use desktops anymore because they have moved on to laptops but, this card works fine for me and it should work fine for you too; assuming your not a gamer. I have an old (about 5 years) desktop that just will not die and when the video card in it went belly up, I just could not part with it since it was still a good personal computer, so I employed this card as a replacement. I have no clue what this card is seriously capable of mainly because all I do is use it on my old workhorse desktop. Its running Windows 7 with VMware 7.1 and it looks fine. none Unless you have a PC that you truly like, do not spend too significantly income on an AGP card. Migrate to one of the newer video standards if you can.
