As it was defective...none Defective Card was defective on arrival. Upon set up of drivers Computer driver would quit responding and loop until hard reset. It took me a couple of hours to figure out it was actually a hardware concern considering that the error message was driver associated. In the end I attempted it in my Pc and the card crashed it as well. I tried my card on the Pc I was creating and it ran fine. Too bad. I've began the RMA approach in the meantime I had to buy a card at retail to finish a make for an individual who couldn't for an RMA (doh). I'm confident the new card will be fine and will work wonderful....as well undesirable its just going to gather dust....

I wanted to have graphic card which can play starcraft2 at ultra settings to see those great graphics. This card delivers what I wanted effortlessly. I am playing the game at ultra settings on a 27 inch monitor with 1080p resolution. The nose level is actually low, as well. highly recommended at this cost point. None I have a 3 year old computer with a core 2 duo and 4gb DDR2. So, I am seriously pleased this card was adequate to play sc2 at ultra setting.

Operates ideal in Windows 7. Runs each and every game I've thrown at with out a hitch. Liunx help is far from optimal, but that's expected. Performs using the proprietary Catalyst drivers, but user beware: updating is unsafe, screen flicker will happen when working with compiz, and it may take some time finding it functional. Any person who makes use of linux is possibly conscious of the cons listed above. The card is nonetheless functional, and "stable".

Don't be fooled by this card's less than desirable ascetics. For what it lacks it looks, it gains in pure power and OC'ing efficiency.I was hunting at a couple of diverse 5850 cards to upgrade from my old Nvidia 260 GTX and I was pleasantly shocked by the excellent of this 1. Though it lacks the flashy looks of the other 5850's from unique producers, it has been built from the ground up for the very best possible OC'ing. With two substantial fans, 2 OZ's of copper heatsink conductors, very open exposure of the card to retain heat from becoming trapped on the board. This card can be OC'd to level's that would make other folks start to sweat. The pure power of the 5850, (specially compared to my preceding card) are amazing. I didn't employed to be a fan of the ATI cards, but this most latest generation of ATI's is remarkable. I can run S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Get in touch with of Priypat on Ultra Higher, anything maxed 1920 x 1080 on my 42" HDTV.This card will BLOW you away! Not the very best looking card on the block.Doesn't have a lifetime warranty. That's all the stuff I can assume of. Granted I haven't had this card extremely long. So I can't speak from the point of view of how trusted it is in the lengthy run.

I can play Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising with anything on high and 8X AA 1600x1200 on a 20" monitor. 3D Mark (Cpu restricted?) Gigabyte EP-45 UDP3 w/E8500 3.16GHz, 4GB CORSAIR DOMINATOR DDR2 @ 1066MHz, Raidmax 730W power supply. Ordered Sunday evening received the card Tuesday. I uninstalled the Invidia drivers then booted in secure mode and ran Driver Sweeper. Installed the latest Catalyst package from AMD/ATI. I would play Urban Terror and it would lock up right after about 10 minutes playing. Played with bios settings for viseo and memory and was finding annoyed. Uninstalled Catalyst, booted in secure mode and ran Driver Sweeper. Installed Catalyst from the CD Ƙ.70-100113a-09425E, 2D 8.01.01.1004)and almost everything is fantastic now. :-) I play Urban Terror a lot and it is no more rapidly than my 8800GTS. Operating the UT DEMO I get 761FPS about 30 fps a lot more than the 8800. Playing Operation Flashpoint is remarkable compared to the 8800. So I can play the most up-to-date games maxed with no problem now. The 5850 is the very best card for the cash. Now that the price is beneath 跌.00. (趸.00 with rebate) and ū.00 shipping

Exceptional speed and OC capacity. Stays cool (under 60* at stock complete usage), and the fans are WAY quieter than the GTX470 it replaced. Dual screen flickering on screen two. Absolutely horrible. Research showed that people today solved this in ཅ by generating the card run at 400묜mhz rather than the 157룄mhz default. Appears the Gigabyte bios does make this card run at 400묜 when decoding video (notably youtube), but in this mode screen 2 flickers horribly undesirable. Also, the 400묜 setting overrides anything else, so even if you are in a game running at 800񳀼mhz, if you open youtube the card will clock down and slow the game. Not positive why they haven't been in a position to fix this, apparently it has been an concern considering that at least Q4 ཅ. Hopefully my new HDMI cable will arrive soon so I can attempt that, would be great if the challenge was just from making use of each DVI connectors. Not confident if I want to try dealing with RMAs or just sending it back to Newegg and just get a refund... Seems like I've located the spot among the rock (Nvidia's loud/hot cards) and the tricky place (ATI's cards that can't run 2 screens). If you are positive you won't hook up a second monitor, this card is wonderful. Otherwise, appear elsewhere. I really enjoy this card, but the cons make it analogous to a cake with glass fiber shards in it... Manufacturer Response:Dear Customer,Thank you for your comments. When I 1st got this card, I was a little dissapointed(read cons). After updating the BIOS fo this card. literally all of its problems went with the old BIOS. I simply overclock this beast to 925mhz core (slightly more quickly than 5870 stock) and 1100mhzƔ.4ghz) memory (slightly lower than 5870 stock) whilst getting temperatures in the high 60's'(better than my preceding card, gt 240) It also runs quite quiet compared to the other fans in my situation. Originally could not play HD movies, couldn't complete WEI. This is due to the reality that the original BIOS only had 1 clcok setting, and one setting only.In addition the core clock seemed to have been restricted by the bios to about 825mhz which a bios update fixed. I wouldn't advise this for everyone who doesn't have a decent understanding of computer systems. If you don't know or want to update VGA bios, then don't get this card. If your like me and like to tinker with stuff to squeeze the most out of your card, then you may possibly want to look into acquiring this puppy.

Very fast card, good cooler, solid construction. With an overclocked Q6600 and 750W PSU I was in a position to obtain great performance in Negative Firm 2. Fairly an upgrade from my GTX 260 Core 216. Even so, nvidia drivers appear much more stable. The only clue you have that this card is more than-clocked is the OC* in the model number. If you unaware of the stock clock of this card, you won't notice that 765Mhz is not stock. Because the card is over-clocked you have to trust that the manufacturer fully tested the GPU for stable clock. In my situation they did not, or there is some sort of hardware fault. The ATI Over-drive will not let me below-clock the card to see if this is the situation. I don't want the card if I have to below-clock it anyway. I am returning it for the XFX card which is not over-clocked. Over-clocked cards should be clearly marked in the advertisement. I saw textures that would not keep in spot or that continually moved, like tiny boxed patterns. I did not see conventional artifacts or distinct colors and shapes. Just some thing wrong with the texture filtering, and I tried every thing to sort it out. I'm going to guess there's one thing incorrect with the bios for this card which they've previously tried to correct mainly because the card would not down-clock for 3D apps. Given that most men and women are saying this card is good, I'm guessing the dilemma I had goes largely unnoticed. I bet other people are experiencing the glitches but not noticing it. For the amount of cash I paid, its only not acceptable. I do believe Newegg need to refund Bill Me Later and not leave me to sort it out.

-Can overclock many displays which is usually not an uncomplicated selection with most 5xxx series cards due simply because of the power saving functions (you can overclock the card with the new 2dǙd dual mode bios:F4 as well) -Excellent circuitry, construction, vrm and so forth-A lot more than enough to run demanding games at multiple monitor high-resolution at great frame prices -as with almost all 5xxx series need to have a Display Port adapter (active) to run 3 displays. -no solution to overvolt the card (I hit 950񳃒 pretty simple) -minimum fan-speed proper now is set at 55% which is not incredibly loud at all; however, I have heard gigabyte said that the subsequent bios will address this situation, the current bios has added a dual mode 2dǙd. -flashing the bios isn't the hardest factor but there need to be a tool to update it less difficult. Fantastic card that can be fantastic with a new bios that has 1) Overvolt option two) Fan Speed handle under 55%

Rapid card, factory OC'd and you can simply oc it some much more. Mine is operating at 820 core 1200 mem at 66c load with no voltage modify at all, i could go more on the core if i wanted to, just haven't pushed it all the way however, with voltage enhance you could reach 1000 core i do believe. This cooler does an wonderful job Not crazy quickly, esp considering that nvidia has launched their new cards Even even though the gtx 470 is a decent amount more rapidly, if you factor in the oc ability and the power requirements along with the cooling the 5850 is the better selection

excellent cost, fast if you want to use eyefinity and 3 or more monitors count on a challenge. You will need an active displayport adapter or a DP monitor for one particular of the monitors. Also, it is really tricky, not all monitors seem to perform as properly as other individuals. You will have to uninstall and reinstall Catalyst additional than twice and tweak like crazy to get a 3x1 operating in my experience. I wound up giving up and just getting a 27" widescreen monitor rather. Big card. If you are obtaining this for a dual card set up check your motherboard very first. Mine is brandnew and has two slots, but these cards are so massive they cover the second slot so installing two is impossible... Appear for the authorized motherboards on the AMD internet site.

Good price for this card (at time of assessment). Operates in crossfire mode with my ATI spec HIS 5850. Extremely sturdy circuit board. Much much better cooling answer than the normal closed cooling systems with one particular fan on the end of the board. Wish I had two of this board running at the Gigabyte factory OC rate. The manual in fact has a section concerning how to install this card for crossfire, but you'll want to modify the process a tiny (at least for Win7 64-bit). Add the card without the crossfire interconnects and boot to windows initial (see my "other thoughts" below).Gigabyte is a solid brand and a three-year warranty offers you peace of mind beyond the time you'd be searching for the subsequent most recent and greatest card. This Gigabyte 5850 is a wonderful card and a excellent value. Sturdiness of the board also makes it heavy. The power connectors are on the situation door side of the video card (along the top edge of the card itself). So if your power provide has good thick sturdy wires, you'll locate they push against the situation door. I have a corsair 950w and a spedo situation (giant) and the wires push against the case door a little. They need to have mounted the power off the end of the board like other manufacturers.Sturdiness of the card could also be seen as a con due to the fact it is heavy. Nearly wish they sold a pillar with it so you could prop it up a tiny when it droops in the PCI-e slot. It's genuinely not that negative, but the weight may well be noticed as a style flaw. It's also a little longer than my HIS 5850 Ƒǚ-1ǘ"). Crossfire setup is a tiny tricky. Here's my recommendation when adding the card in CROSSFIRE mode. Make sure you have the power provide, situation and motherboard to support a second video card. Also, make positive you have the most current ATI Catalyst Control Center (CCC) and Drivers installed. Then do the followingɅ) Power down/unplug the Pc. 2) Add the card with no the crossfire interconnect cables. three) Boot to windows and let windows "see" the new card. Every little thing should run as prior to adding the card with the exception of a second 5800 Series display adapter in device manager. You'll also see a main and secondary card listed in the CCC four) Shut down. 5) Install the two interconnect cables; 1 from the old and a single from the new card. 6) Boot to windows. Go into the graphics->crossfire section of the CCC.7)Check the box to allow crossfire technologies. If you don't follow my process above, you might see black at sign-on. Don't be alarmed. Get rid of the interconnects and do what I mentioned!

This card has stood up to my tests of operating games such as Bad Firm two and Just Result in two on their full settings just fine. The fans maintain it cool, and overall it hasn't caused me any problems in and of itself. The 58XX series seems to be plagued with a dual screen issue, which is if you use dual monitors you will get screen flickering. This problem seemed to be really frequent the moment I looked it up. There seemed to be a lot of fixes people today were employing, from flashing complete bios, installing drivers, carrying out even a lot more overclocking...I went with the third 1, and even then I didn't do that so substantially. From what I read, you require to get the gpu clock from 175mhz to 400mhz standard. I did this by just going to my ATI catalyst manage center, going to ATI overdrive, enabling it, and hitting auto-tune. This slightly tweaked my card up a bit more, and set the base for my gpu clock to 400mhz, and my concern is gone. I have read even adjusting the memory clock 5mhz alone will be adequate to do this. The screen flickering situation isn't a gigabyte only situation. This is an concern on multiple manufacturers, even MSI and ASUS have had it in my journey to repair the flicker.
