operating 4 of these in RAID . raid performance scaled flawlessly, obtaining in between 450 and 550 read/write average on the outer 450gb or so of the 2tb total. i did a 4x raid0 of these understanding that these are single platter, meaning much larger stability. they have but to let me down. random access sucks, but 200usd for 500mb/s throughput is a killing in comparison to ssd. make sure to turn write cache on :]

got on sale for $60 - does the trick, one of the lowest priced 500GB I've seen out there. Not going to be storing on it anyway, Just use for OS - another data drive is used.

The drive is rather, rapid, and inexpensive. So far so fantastic. Newegg's shipping is generally unbelieivablly quick!! No cons so far!

Value was suitable. Shellshocker deal final week. Would get to 22% in format procedure and then freeze. Sooner or later would get message that there was a difficulty with the drive. I tried it three instances. Newegg was wonderful. Sent me an RMA label and it went back in the box and off to the UPS store.

Fantastic cost. Has not arrived. Sadly, drive was missing from shipment. This is the very first time in numerous years of purchasing w/ the egg that that's occurred so I'm not too upset. I'll update once I receive and test it out.

Functions. Tricky drives pretty much either operate or don't function. So far so fantastic - we'll see immediately after two years if it's in fact Fantastic or not. possibly a small noisy, but then, fairly considerably not substantially of con cuz it's in a clamshell situation and barely noticeable, but it IS noticeable. (Hope it isn't going out) Only 5 stars if it can final 2 years. I don't believe in giving five stars for HD's until right after time testing.

Purchased this from a shell shocker a handful of months ago. It hasnt died on me. Size to value ratio is right on par. Virtually feels flimsy, its as light as a feather, not actually a con although Very surprised at the read and write speeds. This drive scored equivalent to my western digital 500 gb black hdd. 𞲨 read & 𞲨 write. I employed atto disk benchmark.

The lowest temps I have ever noticed on a drive It feels space temp all the time, and silent as a church mouse I have had over 40 hard-drive's seagate wd samsung maxtor.. this is the very best drive for temps and acoustically speaking the speed is ok it got a five.9 in windows 7 32 bit... no cons a single plat for the cost of a silver :)

was a good obtain ( I thought at the time) bought it 6ታ񳏊 it burnt out 11ቯ񳏊 dont know how to rama back to Hitachi if you only have 1 hard drive dont buy a single of these now I have to purchase a different difficult drive nevertheless will purchase from newegg never ever had a problem with them they constantly stand by what they sell in the aloted time.

Ha, wish I had one particular. Just can't hold these guys running and it expenses an arm and a leg to RMA these to Hitachi, verify out their "required packaging" and be astounded. I just got back a couple of my RMAs from Hitachi, they had been processed speedily and shipped, and my new drives seem to be just as excellent as my old ones. (dead).

Definitely none I received the RMA replacement drive and it to makes the grinding noise beginning inside three minutes of the time it was hooked up. Have to be a poor production run. Keep away from this 1. Definately not up to Hitachi's standards.

I've had very good luck with this brand in the past. Two of the three drives I ordered had been poor out of the box. All were made in China (Shenzhen). 1 worked and has been operating for a week now. I'm continuing to run it as my faith in the name is shaken after this expertise. If it runs excellent for 30 days possibly it will continue to operate. The value was very good, about โ a drive with totally free shipping. I have now paid return shipping on two of the three drives at about ű a piece. I'm returning the second drive now and the replacement for the initially failed drive hasn't shipped to me yet so the time invested right here is also not agreeable.

500GB, works ok. absolutely nothing but I am working with this as a backup so it is not connected to my technique, it operates good working with Esata, usb was slow and I knowledgeable data loss which could have been the connection given that esata functions. I use an 80GB SSD for my boot so I dont know how quickly this would be for that. On a side note it takes longer for my computer to post than windows 7 to boot in case you wondered. Win 7 ultimate 64 bit is sweet

Rating is based on this drive only. I've had great overall performance from Hitachi drives in the past. Hopefully this is an isolated situation and the replacement drive will perform to Hitachi's historical high standards. Picked this 1 up to be a new data drive in our recording studio. From the time it was hooked up in the external drive case, this drive had a random grinding noise. Just about every few minutes, the drive would make a 1 to 3 second grinding sound, loud enough that my wife came in from the other room and stated, "Please inform me that's not the new challenging drive." Other than the noise, it seemed to be performing well, but for how long. Couldn't take the opportunity on losing numerous recording sessions due to the fact of a flaky tricky drive, so requested an RMA replacement. I've had superior luck with Hitachi drives in the past, but not this time. Hoping the replacement drive will operate appropriately.
