So far this drive seems faster then the WD Black HD i utilised in my house laptop or computer. I put this drive in an additional computer system for someone else, installed win7. and other programs. Drive was fairly and zipped proper along realy nicely. None NOTE: i only been testing this drive for much less then a week. So far i have been realy pleased with its performance.

Low cost, quiet not the fastest drive I bought this to use in a DNS-321 home NAS which is not the fastest NAS, but operates reliably and far more than enough for storing images/video/music and as a backup server. The Hitachi drive installed without having a hitch and functions fine in a RAID1 configuration with a Seagate ST3500418AS. I've had extremely good luck with Hitachi drives.

Quick and quiet and has not overheated, but I am employing a dedicated fan for it so if it did, it would have be a volcano. It says on the Hitachi web site that this drive was created for the operating of your primary operating system and has been optimized for picture and video editing, and viewing, which is mainly what I do with it and it does it excellent. The finest cost when I bought it here on Newegg. Not as fast as a Solid State drive....duh? When is the price tag of SSHDDs going to drop? When they very first came out they were fluctuating about at various cost points but now they appear rock steady at a verrrrry inflated price tag. You may as nicely purchase 50 2gb USB three. memory sticks and string them together and it would be the identical price for the speed, seems a little ridiculous to me.

2nd one particular I have bought. I really like this drive for the expense. Please don't fail me now and make me eat my words! I have one particular running Windows 7 64 bit and the other running osx. They run cool and quiet. Yes I know what quiet is! Don't get me incorrect. Loud computers are great. But the white noise puts me to sleep like a baby. none that I can think of. Just looked above my monitor and I need to have to paint this room. I'm thinking tan or taupe. You know what taupe would be good. Get rid of this green in here. Oh yeah! They call me Mr Flintstone cause I can make your bed rock!

None This disk drive was DOA. I had been purchasing IBM and then Hitachi drives every single couple of years when I upgrade my Computer with no problems. I guess I will switch brands now.

These drives are generally cost-effective, and that's about where the pros finish. Newegg takes very good care of it's consumers? I have stopped buying IBM/Hitachi drives right after having Five of these fail with quite small use. I even lately received two DOA from Newegg, thankfully they took care of the fees when I returned them. Love the Egg. I also just got back two that I RMA'd to HGST and 1 of them failed inside two days, and the other I am afraid to open. It's not worth going inexpensive, I am speedily replacing all of my drives with Seaga**s.

Incredibly Rapidly drive! really rather, runs cool, the value was awesome for a half a TB! Works amazing! couldn't ask for a greater Difficult drive! It wasn't totally free Reading some of the other reviews (After i had already produced the purchase) Kind of scared me! I noticed some folks got a DOA one and it looked like more then a couple of. But I've had mine for about a week and im at present writing this from the laptop or computer i built working with this internet site and this tough drive. But Don't let them fool you! Some stuff comes DOA due to shipping or whatever the case might be.This HD was a steal for the price tag when i bought it and i couldn't be far more content with it! (i program on purchasing a different 1 yes)

Very good quiet drive and good speed. Died right after couple of months. Hitachi RMA approach took ten days to send a replacement immediately after they received the faulty unit from me. Hitachi support website cautions you to meet rigorous packing standards when returning a unit to them. The replacement unit, on the other hand, arrived in packaging which does not appear to meet their own standards. And, it took ten days to get here. Hitachi has no support choice for rapid replacement.

Bought this drive solely based on price. You always gamble with a drive nicknamed "deathstar." No company is out there to make a bad product but I still wouldn't use this drive in a mission critical setting.

I have one of these in my machine runnin' as a backup drive. I also have two 320gig Hitachi's runnin' in RAID- & I've not an a single concern with any of them. None therefore far. I've been working with Hitachi drive forever. Still have two 120gig IBM's runnin' in my wife's machine & bever had a single issue with either of them. They've actually been in four various machines more than the past 8 years. Possibly they've just gotten lazy with "Quality Control"

None. Drive created a grinding noise. DOA Did not create the PC for 32 days immediately after I bought the HD. So Neweggs 30-day return policy was void. Dealing with the factory is not fun. Just got a new HD to come across out the ASUS MB from Newegg is also DOA. Worst luck in ten years of acquiring with Newegg. No Beep codes or anything. Just DEAD.

New install of Win7࿀) (The 32 is many percent faster than the 64!) went effortlessly and delivered as expected performance. (ř.9") Running quiet and cool. none The number of things that can go wrong in bios and Win7 amazes me. Don't often blame the hardware.

Cost!! I got three of these when it was a shellshocker. Im not certain if I received various drives than most, since mine run cool and quiet, and have been dependable. No issues whatsoever as to date. Extremely high qualityExcellent Cost 16MB Cache Runs loud sometimesIts a bare drive which means no screws and no cables. I needed a new tough drive because my old tough drive crashed and I needed a new tough drive and I purchased this one from newegg and it shipped quite fast.

Lots of room for the back-ups I want to do. For the price where can you go wrong. None I wish I could have bought more. All my systems are stuck with 80gb drives. Bought this with a rosewill enclosure for system backups.

None DOA on initial arrival. RMA for replacement. The replacement is also DOA but it's superior than the first mainly because the 2nd make extremely weird loud spinning noise when power up. The initial harddrive was fully silent dead. I'll ask Newegg for return & obtain Seagate or Western Digital rather. Newegg was so quick to ship the replacement. They even issued the return UPS shipping label. I still trust Newegg but not Hitachi tough drive.

Cost HD failed soon after 3 months. Hitachi takes ӯ weeks for in-warranty replacement. Ought to ship old HD back to them in Hitachi-approved packaging. 3rd Hitachi HD I have purchased. 2 of them became defective. In no way again.
