Very good windows media center performs fantastic. Internet tv built proper into guide. Add hulu to media center operates soso. I use wintv to get side by side tv with media center. Right here was my problem with the remote and blaster.Basically push in the connector a small harder till you here a strong click. It was a small also difficult and i believed it was all the way in. So push blaster plug in a little tougher and farther. Its that straightforward. My remote began to work funny and not quite effectively soon after a couple of months. I thought it was the remote. But when i upgraded to windows 7 and reformatted HD. remote operates great again. So try reinstalling software program or reseting computer software.

Mainly works as advertised. I'm on Windows 7 64bit and at the moment only using it with Media Center, which is stupid as a brick (LOUSY programming, Microsoft, aka M$often!!!), so I can't comment on the sophisticated features of the card for the reason that the idiot MC computer software doesn't make use of them. The tuners seem weak compared to an actual Television set. If I jostle the amplified antenna's rabbit ear wires even an inch, the reception goes from four or 5 green bars to NO reception at all. Tremendously fussy for antenna setup. My son tells me I should really construct my personal antenna; someday I just might... Enough has been stated about the quality of the Remote, so I won't go into that, but there is a lot of DIS-material about it not operating with W7 Media Center. Out of the box it doesn't. In spite of this there IS a utility that you can run, which, just after a reboot, will make it perform. At least it did for me...Initially, you have to go the the Hauppauge Help internet web site: http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/support_hvr2250.htmlThen click on the Accessories Tab, and scroll all the way down to the bottom and come across this:==========================Windows Media Center remote manage receiver/blaster configuration utilitydownload HcwCIRConfig_tool_27268Use this utility to allow or disable the built-in IR receiver/blaster hardware on the WinTV-HVR-1850 and WinTV-HVR-2250 for use with Windows Media Center.Name: HcwCIRConfig_tool_27268.exe332KB9ቹ񳏉==========================Click on the "download" button, save/run it, and reboot. Records shows set up in Windows Media Center. Responds to third celebration usb remote superior than the one that came with it. The guide has all my channels except a single. Quick install. Works properly with Windows 7. Remote it comes with doesn't operate very effectively. A little hard to set up the QAM channels. It records each instance of a show in a series regardless of whether they are new or repeats. Not certain if it can be configured to just get the new ones.

Straightforward to install. That's about it, count on that the Egg got it shipped right here in a couple of days and Cost-free! Alright, hang on.1. Remote control is useless! It doesn't function! All it's undertaking is storing batteries right now. Furthermore, I've emailed Hauppauge tech support 2X with queries on what to do about it. Immediately after above 3 months with this card I have however to acquire a response.2. Screen continuously freezes. I only use the card for above air digital. I have to stop the application and restart to discover live Tv. Nowadays, complete screen wouldn't even load, it was just black. Altering renderer settings and hardware acceleration won't assistance in every single case.3. Audio has been normally excellent, even when the screen freezes I still hear the broadcast. A handful of instances I noticed that when clicking mute it made no distinction in sound, nevertheless, when mute was off, there was no sound. Incredibly glitchy.4. I've helped some of these concerns by setting the buffer to Ŕ" and not operating any capture. I got a rebate with this card that took 8 weeks to get back to me. Just saying, I got it.I guess if I had to do above again, I do a small more investigation prior to buying this card. I would consider yet another brand if cost was comparable, even with no the dual tuner capability. There is no Hauppauge forum to ask inquiries of other customers. I've accomplished searches for a repair for the remote and have encountered operate arounds that I will not contemplate trying. Why really should I? Make a product that works as it's advertised and functions as intended. Is that too substantially to ask?

FM tuner, split internaly for ntsc and atsc input, Vista premium and windows 7 prepared. and remote actualy performs. it's tivo without having the mothly dues or the telephone line all for underneath 贄. long card hits my RAM slots and addon card plug hits my video card but I flexed the board to match boy it is an ugly fit but it works. Comes with Win Tv 7 I lost three channels I was finding with Win Tv 6 referred to as ATSC two,3,4 or 38-two,3,four so I may possibly down grade back to older version. Since I have Wing from Hauppaugeave the DivX converter plan and it only works wit Win Tv 6.

Worked wonderful ahead of Comcast locked down their channels. I upgraded to Windows 7 and all was properly with the card till the channels started disappearing. At initially I believed it was the signal so I checked the splitter/amp and everything appeared fine but the channels nonetheless didn't come back. Upon contacting Comcast the consumer service particular person mentioned that this was element of Comcast's digital transition and more channels would be encrypted. The internal splitter becomes a difficulty when you start off adding in external cable boxes. Which brings us to the external cable box fiasco. When I added an external cable box to the mix I had to set up the whole Hauppauge package in order to get the blastcfg to function so that I could configure the IR blaster. Not positive why but it took about 45 minutes on the phone with Hauppauge help (who were fairly very good) and the best explanation we could come up with was that there was a dependency in one of the other packages that was set up that the blastcfg relied on. As soon as we got this figured out it was a single to using blastcfg to get almost everything setup...not so quickly. The comcast remote that I had either wasn't compatible/I couldn't get it to function/fill in the blank but I could not get it to study the number buttons. On my 1600 there was an uncomplicated drop down box where you just chosen your external box and away you go. In the end, I place the 1600 back in and this card went back in its box. The dual tuners truly created this card great even though it was nevertheless functioning but with an external box it would be more expense successful to buy the Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1250. As far as functionality, I would advise the 1600 simply because it has a database of preconfigured external cable boxes. From what I read, I believe the 1950 does to but I don't have one of those but this great little function does not seem to be carried over to the newer Hauppauge cards: http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/manuals/qi-ir_blaster-eng_five.pdfEmploying the pre-configured list of set best boxes(WinTV-HVR-1600 and WinTV-HVR-1950 only)I would like to look at myself intelligent, but in the finish the blaster config got the greatest of me and my patience. The 1600 was installed, configured and operating like a champ in about 45 minutes.

Great product that performs properly with Windows 7 Media Center, with out STB. With-STB it is a various story. STB+Win7+IR blaster is not operating, most likely due to Hauppauge driver poor assistance for Win 7. Win 7 MC does not recognize the IR blaster (which connects to the card) for the duration of setup. Blaster responds slightly in BlastCfg, indicating hardware performs. Not sure what to do. Non-STB cable is no longer an choice in my area. The IR-blaster has to work or else you can't record Tv. Very frustating. I can't advocate this for users who are in STB-only regions.

-Grabs two streams of OTA HD.-No jitter or lag like USB tuners-Works out of the box with Windows 7-Loved this card so considerably, I purchased three of em. I like the card for what it does but there are some cons:-HD cable streams on this card will never look HD. From time to time my cable box shoots out error messages saying I can't output the video to my card even though it does it anyway.-The IR blaster and receiver have no mounting options so you'll have to deal with some ugly tape options.-Although you can hook this up to a satellite/cable settop box or analog cable, just don't do it. This thing only performs properly for OTA streams. Setting up the remote for this card was a discomfort, but that's not this card's fault. Also, do not hook up the additional attachment unless you are going to handle two settop boxes. Windows Media Center won't continue the remote setup till each IR emitters are hooked up.

-Dual hybrid tuners ƒ tuners that can decode either analog or digital signal)-Composite and S-Video input-Compatible with Windows Media Center -Need to use a second expansion slot to use Composite input (but this does permit the card to be half-height for smaller sized case)-Included remote feels cheap-WinTV7 software powerful but confusing interface I use this tuner with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and Windows Media Center. I also ditched the integrated remote control in favor of my Logitech Harmony 550, I do not like the layout or really feel of the integrated remote. When I first setup my tuner, I was noticing white lines and snow on the analog channels. I suspect this was primarily due to employing two low cost 5-900MHz splitters, and a cable that had been bent at 90 degrees (bookshelf in front of outlet, remedied with appropriate angle adapter). When attached straight to the wall the snow and lines were gone, but that certainly was not an alternative. Instead, I discovered I could use a signal amp (leftover from my old digital antenna) and the snow is gone. The only uncommon impact I have noticed is if I have Media Center and my Television tuned to the exact same channel, Media Center's live Tv is about 1 sec behind (it's practically a non issue).I enjoy this tuner card, I am now considering ordering a case to setup my old hardware as a devoted Media Center Pc.

Dual tuner, worked out of the box and is seemless with MCE. Picked up all the digital channels (unencrypted) by means of TWC. Remote is low cost - immediately moved to my Harmony 1. Nonetheless the remote receiver is lame. It is either too sensitive, registering multiple keystrokes, or not sufficient and fully missing them. This is regardless of distance or position. The original remote also has issues, so it isn't the Harmony. Also attempted adjusting the Harmony energy level, which assisted, but did not repair the dilemma one hundred%. I will be receiving a front panel LCD with remote receiver in a few days so I have a much more reputable remote handle. Enjoy the card, hate the remote and receiver.

Picture quality as good as provider, dual tuner, low profile no component input, poor documentation for setting up s-video with mce dual tuner, windows mce assistance are great. Effortless to install, but be careful to adhere to instructions to make positive IR blaster installs correctily. I had to use hcwclear to clean anything, and then reinstall to finally get mce to recognize with s-video

Simple to use, totally compatible with Windows 7 and MCE. None With Comcast, the biggest cable organization in the nation, scrambling all their channels (they get in touch with it going digital), All you will be able to get soon will be regional stations. They recently completed the transition in Alexandria, and when I attempted to view a system I believed I had recorded, all I saw was a slide from Comcast saying I had to use a digital transport adapter (dta) or a set top box. Either 1 can't compare with MCE. You shed the dual tuner function, the remote is a piece of junk, there is often a delay before the remote command takes effect. Your only solution is to but a tuner card and have the cable corporation replace the set best box with a cable card. As very good as this item is, I can't suggest acquiring it.

Records 2 shows at once with over the air HD whilst I am in a position to watch other show at the identical time. I do not have cable or satellite, but when looking for channels, it also searched the net and picked up 20 additional stations from what was readily available on line. I reside near Chicago, and I get 52 stations over the air. None at this time

Pleased with performance, except as noted below. Has an internal splitter for tv and an RF front-end that is marginal. I am 15 miles from and have line of sight to regional Tv transmitting towers. I use a Winegard powered antenna and nevertheless have to add a powered signal booster to the 2250 input to get stable video on all local broadcast stations. The Tv on the exact same coax works wonderful. Be ready to rework your antenna, coax and to acquire one or a lot more RF amplifiers to acquire stable off-the-air television. I use mythtv/ubuntu, all h/w bought from newegg. All facts on mythbuntu forums by me, "keepitsimpleengr"

Remote Manage, MCE Integration, Internal Splitter. Wish Remote Could Be Programmed. Folks complained about the integrated remote but it is really worth the funds. It operates excellent. I wish the four colored buttons could be programmed macros. I wish it had mouse control. I wish the remote could be programmed to manage volume on the Television (not just Windows volume) and to turn the Tv on/off. Oh.. and to put the Computer to sleep would be nice as well!I did not use the application that came with it, but wanted the selection to. So far MCE performs great with this card and has a prettier interface.

Excellent quality dual tuner/Quad tuner if you record from ext. tuners and OTA.have two of these one particular on xp mce 2005 and the other on vista household prem. Love the remote, close to the rounded feeling of the tivo "penut" remote. I have been employing usb IR recievers/blasters for the remote and ext. tuners.. The IR blaster and reciever that comes with the 2250 well..... its fairly much junk. the only time I had it workling is with a second celebration computer software converting the signals,, it was just way a lot more of a hassle then I was prepared to go via when I allready had usb IR. so I have nevertheless just have those additional cables in there box.when placing this item in a mini atx the card maybe so low it may possibly come in get in touch with with your chipset heatsink. with my situation I had to keep the anti static bag on the end of the card to preserve it from shorting on the H/S I generally wait untill there is about a ฮ MIR for the item. AND YES it does come in. have no fear, may possibly take the full eight weeks, but I have by no means been burned from them.

No complications setting up with Windows Media Center. OTA reception weak? Was pulling more than 75% on all channels but had to modify the antenna to overcome no signal with the 2250.Attempt and discover any documentation on the remote, cuz I couldn't.Initial thing I did when I opened the box was energy up the remote, hit the green button and it turned on the xbox I use as an extender opening it to Media Center. Cool. But with further use:No (.) button so you can't transform the channel to five.1 (workaround is to assign distinct channel numbers with WMC)No way to control the Television volume or power! Twenty years ago remotes could do this with codes or copy IR signals! Buy the white box and look for a remote elseware. Or get HDHomeRun. My buddy just got the new Tivo remote with a slide out keyboard......nice.

Functions wonderfully with Windows 7! I bought each the 2250 with and with out the remote and installed both in the the HTPC. They preform great! THE REMOTE Performs Good Also! I don't have any troubles with the remote and IR receiver. It has all the functions I need and even MC specific ones. I don't use the IR blasters/repeaters that were integrated as I seriously only use the Tv's remote for the energy button. I also don't really use the FM tuner, but I can confirm that it performs fine when I do use it. No FM antenna plugged in and it nevertheless works. Flaky with Vista Media Center. The channels would freeze frequently or show just black. I attempted almost everything to fix it including downloading beta drivers. The only repair was to cold reboot and it would operate fantastic. Windows 7 has worked flawlessly with these card. Installed the drivers for me and every little thing.

I bought this unit to watch Tv on my HTPC. The installation was simple. The software program was pretty very good. I utilised Windows Media Center instead of WinTV. Recording functions are nice. If all you're going to watch is SD tv and record shows, then definetly get this card. Does not play HD. Can\'t record in HD. I needed to decode encrypted QAM singlas from the cable firm, so I had to plug my set-best box into the card... even then, I didn't get a HD image because I had to use COAX in. Like I mentioned, if you want to play SD stuff and you don't care about HD, then this is for you. Id rather watch sports in HD, personally.
