Hauppauge WinTV-HVR2250 Dual TV Tuner Board
Comment:
1 digital and 1 analog recording at a time. With windows media center as part of the operating method works fine. Its my antenna that causes any grief with the signal.Uses a lot much less difficult drive space than my DVR. Looks excellent o HDTV 37" or 47". Can\'t record 2 HD 1080p programs at a time. 60HZ (didnt know till a couple of weeks ago) May put PCI so I can record four at a time. five.1 Surround sound speakers and a 24" monitor are fairly low cost nowadays.

Hauppauge WinTV-HVR2250 Dual TV Tuner Board
Cons: No DVI inputNo Component inputOnly RCA (Composite) input (low-quality) though they still say this is HDTV-Compatible...Adds too much wires at the back of your case/antennas and so on...

Pros: Price-Matched for: $129.44Extremely well packaged (accessories inside the box)Remote control looks pretty.Compatibility with Windows 7 is 10/10Good resale priceBest Hauppauge out there yetHDTV-Compatible!
Comment:
Used it once, I made a mistake buying this because it wasn't what I needed in the first place so I ended up selling it for $120 and lost a good $50.Like I said, I've only tried it for one day and the results weren't the ones I was looking to get as I've Bell's Fibe and wanted to watch TV on my PC but finally the only thing I needed was an LCD monitor with at least one HDMI input. At first guess, I thought I would need a PC TV Tuner but then I understood that the Bell's received was the only thing I needed and plug it directly to the computer's monitor via HDMI. (Can be any monitor with HDMI you don't have to buy a TV Tuner monutor).

Hauppauge WinTV-HVR2250 Dual TV Tuner Board
Cons: Remote is a bit cheap feeling.Blasters require more force to connect that I think should be necessary.Volume level is a bit low.

Pros: Everything built in for media center.Comes with everything to run two set top boxes.
Comment:
I replaced a single tuner ATI Theater 550 Pro with this. I had been using a Microsoft USB IR Dongle/Blaster for set top box channel changing. This tuner installs quickly and easily, with the exception of the blasters. I had no end of trouble getting Media Center to recognize them, and it turns out that they "click" in and take a bit more force than I you think is needed. The other oddity is that you need to install Hauppauge's WinTV software so that the blasters/ir receiver are recognized as an eHome receiver so that they can be used in Media Center.Once all the software on the disc is installed and blasters are connected properly, setup was a breeze in Media Center, and the tuners function as expected when using the s-video/composite inputs and connecting to a set top box. Where I live I do not have OTA ATSC, and am not subscribed to cable tv (I get TV from my phone/dsl provider), so I cannot speak to the cable/ATCS capture performance. As to the weakness above "Volume level is a bit low" there is a fix for this, which I found at the URL below. For me, I used the +15 registry setting and it brought it up to an acceptable volume level.http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=17156

Hauppauge WinTV-HVR2250 Dual TV Tuner Board
Cons: - remote isn't USB- software is buggy

Pros: - dual tuners- analog picture quality is decent- plenty of accessories (but no FM receiver)
Comment:
The analog picture quality is comparable to ATI TV Wonder 650. However, the ATI tuner looks slightly better. Unlike the ATI, the Hauppauge has greater difficulty with a poor signal.Hauppauge's PVR software, WinTV, isn't bad. A clean layout, plenty of settings to change and an auto-tune feature. There may be a long lag to buffer the signal. I wouldn't recommend you install it alongside XP MCE: the installed codecs interfere with it.Since the IR receiver is connected via the board rather than USB, drivers are needed for it to work. The IR receiver isn't very accurate. Sometimes it detects a button press as two or doesn't detect it the first time. It takes about one second for a command to be executed. The IR blasters don't work with XP MCE, but will work with WinTV. Using Hauppauge's software to program the blasters is tedious. One has to hold down the buttons three times. If you're looking for a dual TV tuner, the Hauppauge HVR-2250 is a good offering on the hardware side. It saves you from using another cable to get an extra TV signal. The channel changing is almost as fast as a TV. However, if you need only one signal or getting your signals from two different sources, you should look into other TV tuners.

Hauppauge WinTV-HVR2250 Dual TV Tuner Board
Cons: Slow channel changing in MediaPortal

Pros: Dual tuner. Works in MediaPortal
Comment:
Currently using this in MediaPortal without any major issues. One great thing about this card is that it is a dual tuner card. I'm only using analog right now, so I can record one channel while watching another at the same time. The channel changing in MediaPortal is a bit slow, however, but it's not a dealbreaker for me.

Hauppauge WinTV-HVR2250 Dual TV Tuner Board
Cons: Analog signal is crap.Remote doesn't work.Black bars on all sides.

Pros: TV on my computer, that's it.
Comment:
The remote stopped working after 5 days, wouldn't work in both Media Center and their software WinTV. The video quality is, quite frankly, awful when compared to what I get on my home television. Sure it's Analog, but the quality is just awful over this card. Even though the signal I receive is in widescreen, this card refuse to put the video in 16:9, I'm stuck in 4:3 with black bars on all sides, just terrible.

Great except for 1 design flaw
Comment:
This is actually the second Hauppauge tuner I've owned. The first was the HVR-1600. I bought this one because I was building a new HTPC and wanted a dual tuner that would fit into a PCIe slot. Everything functions flawlessly using BeyondTV. The only negative would be the coax connections on the card. One is for FM radio. The other is for cable, Clear QAM, -OR- over air HD. Thus, if you wanted to tune in basic cable and over-air HD, you can't do it because both inputs would have to connect to the same jack. Based on my reading, you also can't just use a splitter to combine the two incoming signals. Now many cable suppliers give you your basic networks in clear QAM but there's no automated BeyondTV program guide for mine. That means that if I want to require a QAM channel, I have to schedule it like a VCR and not just say ''record 24''. I was disappointed because the HVR-1600 didn't have this flaw.

Bad experience
Comment:
First clue: you have to install so-called drivers before you install the so-called program. Get out the D U C T tape. The HWCLEAR program is always there if you need to start over - and that program will become painfully familiar. Then - after you have it up and running (if ever), watch the computer freeze up every 5 to 20 minutes!!! Wow! What fun! The program you were trying to record? Forget it. The .avi file is corrupted. Never mind. Maybe you can try the D U C T tape again!

The driver kept disappearing!
Comment:
When I could get the card to work, it was lovely, however, the problem was keeping it working. If the computer went into S1 or S3 suspend, the driver would disapppear and Windows 7 would tell me that I had an unrecognized multimedia card. I'd try the HWCLEAR routine, try and reinstall the driver that came with it, and later the latest driver on the manufacturer website, but the driver install routine would never find the card if you can believe it. I'd have to open the computer, and move the card to a different slot. Then run HWCLEAR, reboot, and run the driver install routine and it would work. Whether I used the x1 or x16 slot it would happen (M2N32-SLI Deluxe mobo). I returned this, and I'm going to try a different brand, hopefully with better driver support.

Hauppauge WinTV-HVR2250 Dual TV Tuner Board
Cons:Another remote to ad to the pile I seem to have lieing around.Channel menu needs more options. have'nt used all features yet so may update  later?

Pros:With this card and it's excessaries I can do just about anything I can dream up.Ease of use. Easy to install.Like the remote.Picture quality is just as good as my HD Shaw digital PVR cable box and has all the same functions. Box came with lots of usfull extras like extra sencer for remote, usfull suite of tools on set-up
Comment:
I was going to buy this from NCIX but my wife bought it for me as a surprise. I'm so happy with it I decided to write review anyway. We have a PVR at home I'm happy with and this device matches it step for step at a fraction of the cost, not to mention the storage room I have on computer to record, store and play back movies. Could have saved a few bucks if I bought it here but the wife wanted to contribute to my new build ! Gotta love her for that!!!

Buyer Beware
Comment:
I've held off reviewing this product because I didnt want to believe that it's as bad as it really is. The online reviews refer to it as the ''gold standard'' for tv tuners. It is not. If anyone can tell me how to configure it to work with Win Media Center, I would love to hear from you. Hauppaugge cannot. Support won't answer the phone and it takes them over a week to respond to emails. After a month, several calls & four helpless emails, the product still doesn't work. I've downloaded all the extra files on the hauppage site, read thru all the examples, it just does not work. If you're looking for a single tuner at the price of a double, don't want to use the remote control provided, and don't want to use Win Media Center, this product may be for you.

It works
Comment:
This is a difficult purchase considering the varied opinions. Many things have to be right for this product to work. The instructions have a few errors but mostly OK. The HCWCIRConfig Tool file did not install until I downloaded the latest software. Once installed it works great in Windows 7 Pro 64 bit using the Media Player. I record 2 TV programs at the same time and can watch the beginning of one program while the end is still recording. The IR sensing device is on the same cable as some LEDs but I just role those up and store them. I only use terrestrial TV signals and it works fine. The picture is not as good as the Sony 52 inch TV tuner but it is still HD and decent quality. In conjunction with the Windows 7 Media player I'm impressed.

Crashes my computer
Comment:
When I use this it crashes my computer. I either get a complete reboot or a blue screen memory dump. I have had poor response from the company by e-mail. They finally replaced the card and it is the same problem. It is a shame because this is the sixth Hauppauge product I have used over the past 10 years.

No features - not the best
Comment:
I would not buy this product again and do not recommend it mostly due to poor video recording formats and major problems with making recording via the scheduler. Very disappointing product. You cannot adjust the window size. It's either small or maximized no way to stretch it in between. Recording is either proprietary or mpg but it must convert proprietary at the end of the recording so when the ending comes there is a huge wait like minutes, while the CPU is maxed out so it can convert the proprietary video into MPG. This is a huge problem if recording one show right after another. And I have a 3.4 GHz CPU with 4 Gigs RAM. Also the TV guide just doesn't work as it is empty. Have to use on-line guide. So you have to manually always create your own advanced recordings. This product has crashed many times. And I have to say that when you change one channel to the next there is always about a 10 second delay so the program can buffer. This is so crappy.

Great Product
Comment:
The tuner installed perfectly. The only trouble I had was getting the remote to work. The instructions in the manual didn't work for me, I had to load the WinTV to be able to turn on the Infrared to get the remote to work. Other than that small problem its been smooth sailing and a great buy. Would def recommend.

Best card out there for Media center
Comment:
I've been using this tuner card for about 3 months, before that I was using dual HVR1600s. I use this card to handle the input of my analog signal from my TW cable provider. Install was as easy and plug it in, turn on machine, load drivers, and configure media center to use it. It has worked flawlessly. It has a better analog output display than the HVR1600 and appears to be working a little more efficiently. I've used the 1600s for about 2 years, switched to this card because one analog input on one of my 1600s went bad. I still use the 1600's in the same box for digital channel input, together they all work flawlessly. System: Dell Vista Premium 3ghz 800bus with 3gig mem
