Functions perfectly with windows 7. Nevertheless working right after more than a year! Worked adequately in windows vista with the clearqam plugin. Doesn't support cablecards. At the time, this device on Hauppauge's web site stated it had a usb receiver for the remote. It was not shipped with it, but Hauppauge sent one particular out right after giving them a ring.Numerous cable providers are cutting out a lot of the clearqam channels and essentially forcing you to get their boxes (or a tivo HD) if you want any of the premium channels which you may well spend for (FiOS, Cox, and so on). I wish we didn't have to repeat past experiences of being forced to rent cable boxes from companies at ridiculous rates over and above the service.

Card went in effortlessly and presents excellent excellent video via HDMI connection to my LCD Tv. As usual, really prompt delivery from NewEgg. The remote does not perform *at all* for me with Windows Media Center. I do not have a set-best box; cable goes directly to Tv (or Computer). Submitted a speak to form on the Hauppauge website requesting help, but they did not respond. So unless you have a set-top rated box, the remote may well not perform for you. Be ready to do research on setup and channel mapping in Media Center to use this product, based on your cable/satellite provider. As other individuals have noted, Media Center reported that it did not discover any channels after its scan, but it had really identified some and other people had to be added manually. This is most likely not the fault of the tuner card, but don't anticipate "plug and play" compatability with WMC.

The card itself works. The IR blasters don't. Neither 1 of them operate well if at all. Google this item and you'll see a lot of threads about how bad the IR blasters are on this item. Do your self a favor if you are going to get this product for the IR blaster ability - don't.

Functions wonderful. Recording 2 shows although watching a thing else. No complications receiving OTA signals. I'll join the whining and say the remote is a small disappointing. Can't plan it.2 out of three keystrokes miss, and sometimes offers an extra. And the power button won't wake up the machine (possibly a mobo concern?) The single most pricey component in my new HTPC

I have this Tv tuner in my new Windows 7 ࿠ bit, Ultimate Edition) laptop or computer. I have been using Windows Media Center and haven't had any concerns. none. I never tried working with WinTV since I like Windows Media Center so a lot. The remote control works well with Windows Media Center. There is a technical diagram on Hauppauge's website that will show you what the buttons on the controller do. They say the bottom 4 buttons don't do something in WMC, but they really do. 1 will send you to recorded Tv, a different will oscillate WMC among full screen and a little window.

Works flawlessly for watching Television on your laptop or computer. DVR is decent (wish I could save as MP4 - see cons), but I have nothing but complications with the remote viewer (watch Television from other devices on your household network). Granted my laptop or computer is not best of the line. Wish I could transcode to MP4 on the fly vice saving shows as MTS. This really should be probable as you can save the identical stream in a different container (MP4 vice MTS). Now I have to run an app to manually do the transcoding.Another Con: The app to watch shows live or recorded on other devices more than your property network does not function properly for me. I can typically start watching shows, but after a minute or so the stream just merely stops. I can restart and switch to a different show, but ultimately the exact same factor occurs once again. This is rather frustrating. Hoping it gets fixed in an update to the WinTV software.

functions, video good quality fairly very good can't get remote operating with windows 7 64 bit version, functions fine with windows xp I typically just use the very good top quality setting because i can't tell the difference between it and the very best top quality setting for recording I think it's due to the fact my monitor isn't the very best and also the signal top quality isn't usually the finest on all channels. some channels give a lot better record quality than others. I feel it's just a problem with my cable hardware

dual clear QAM tunerincluded remote and IR receiververy good integration with WMC 7 one of the IR blasters is attached to the IR receiver. I don't program to use the blaster so it's annoying to have and extra cable wrapped up behind my HTPC. I can not comment on the included software. I downloaded the WMC driver and IR receiver driver from Hauppauge's site and only installed those two drivers. No troubles with Win 7 x64 excepts I had to restart various times to get the remote to work. This tuner picked up all my cable provider's clear QAM channels (the only channels I subscribe to). It feels great to ditch the set top box.

Thanks to Newegg's number of reviews, this create and tuner card was a piece of cake to install and use with Win 7x64 Media Center. Hauppauge's support web-site has the basic drivers for use with Media Center (MCE Kit). The remote driver(ir32) is installed later and seems to perform fine. The "quick begin guide" pdf was the most beneficial single document. No hitches, no glitches. Once and performed. -Enables Tv to be recorded to pc (Heh...)-PCI-E interface-Remote Functions Effectively -Some buggy drivers The drivers tend to hiccup every single excellent when in a while, but it doesn't take significantly to fix (either a restart, or carrying out Live TvSetup in MCE again) Also, to the gentleman claiming that the remote is not the identical frequency as the Media Center remote and that it wakes his Xbox: It is; that's why it wakes your Xbox. Go into your consoles program settings and adjust the remote setting to "Only Xbox Remote." Also, I've never ever noticed the Ŗ-5 second" lag that's been mentioned.

Tuner works! I bought this combo for use with a Windows 7 Media Center HTPC construct. I have Time Warner extended fundamental cable service. HD channels come in extremely clean, non HD channels leave a lot more to be desired. I did not use the blaster as I have no cable box. I have no encounter using this with WinTV. Using this for a Windows Media Center build? Unless you plan on utilizing the blaster I would keep away from spending the added quantity on the remote. It is really sluggish to respond ƒ-five seconds following the button is pressed at times). Incredibly cheap. It does NOT transmit the exact same signals as a common MCE remote, in truth it transmits on the identical channel as AN Xbox360, I could not wake my HTPC with this remote with out turning on the 360 that resides in the exact same cabinet. Extremely irritating. Excellent luck controlling any other add-on program besides WMC (Boxee, PowerDVD, and so on) without further programming and/or special further programs. Get the card by itself and get a Regular WMC remote with a USB plugin.

Good feature set. Getting problem with PCIe two. x1 slots and Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 tuner card. Bottom line: courtesy of Newegg, tried two tuner cards and two of these MoBo's, and in each pairs, tuner works in PCIe 2. x16 slot, but NOT in PCIe two. x1 slots. (Latest BIOS 1002 used).Consequently, not certain whom to blame, tuner or MoBo.Definitely, don't want to be wasting an x16 slot on an x1 card...

IF you are able to install the drivers, it works wonderful in Win 7 x64. Apparently, some cards have a bad Hardware ID generating it nearly impossible to install drivers (at least in Win 7 x64). I had an 1800 in media box, swapped in a 2250 and couldn't get drivers to install. Attempted every thing I could feel of, checked each tech forum I could find, lastly did a fresh install of Win 7 and got lucky that Win 7 installed drivers. Lately, the drivers disappeared from the device manager and I began searching for a fix. Thanks to the anonymous post beneath I discovered a fix that I haven't seen anywhere else. If it weren't for this, I'd give it 5 eggs. If windows detects the card, but cannot come across drivers:Wherever you extract the driver file to;Open hcs89.inf in Wordpad (or other text editor).Come across all instances of 88800070 and replace with 00001131. Then attempt installing.

bought this for my HTPC. It works quite properly, if paired with the proper software. Tons of added software program required to get it working appropriate on windows XP (not drivers, just application software program). The software it came with didn't function for me. I only removed a single egg for the prior problem, because as soon as I upgraded to windows 7, it worked like a champion! I haven't tested this with any simple cable or satellite. I only use it for more than-the-air broadcasts. Just about every other channel I grab from hulu, or other tv-streaming websites. If you are working with windows 7, pull the trigger on this device. If you are needing specialty channels for your cable service, look at receiving one thing that utilizes a cable card (like the ceton infinitv 4 or the ati capture card (not positive of the model number on it)). For more than-the-air this rocks. I've also heard (but like I mentioned, haven't tested) that it works with simple cable fairly nicely as lengthy as your cable business hasn't gone to the newer format (that calls for a cable card).

Records, Pauses, Rewinds, and Quick Forwards Live Tv. It works with my Comcast cable (only the basic SD channels, but I knew this). Works fantastic with Windows Media Center for Windows 7! The installation was effortless and fast. Picks up all OTA HD channels The only thing I could consider a con would be the lack of documentation for this product. For some folks that could be a massive dilemma. I just built a new HTPC and decided on this tuner, I have zero regrets. I dont have any problems with the remote making use of Windows Media Center (w/ Netflix), I do have concerns with Hulu Desktop but due to the fact thats still in Beta and I'm making use of a third party add in I won't complain.

dual Television tuner and FM radio tuner. Seems like solid performance and excellent picture so far. works correct away with WMC. I couldnt get the IR receiver to work. the remote is ok, but inexpensive feeling buttons not as good as other MC remotes. I ended up working with an old USB IR receiver I had from a initially generation MCE PC from Toshiba. It works terrific. I wish I had only bought the tuner rather of the bundle.

For all the Television shows I watch and record I needed two of them. If download a copy of tunersalad (free) you can boost that up from four without tunersalad to 8 recording streams. The remotes function terrific for the tuner and IR blaster is superior sufficient and if you want a superior on there are usb ones but the ones that come with the card do the job. You will need to have a splitter if you use two of the cards install and you can obtain powered ones to increase the signal if you want to. The software program that comes with the card WinTV v7.2 with WinTV Extend permits you to watch television from any laptop more than your network or if you spend the time watch it more than the internet. You have to configure the windows firewall, your router to allow you to watch over the network. And they charge ű.95 for WinTV v7.2 with WinTV Extend, I don't think its a plus but if you will need it get it. Also believe about if you have sufficient bandwidth to take care of your streaming needs, I notice 100 meg connection some time skips. These are my opinions and ought to not be could be interpreted as reality.1. Scanning takes a truly long time with Windows Media Center 7. It can take up to 45 mins depending on all your channels. two. In my personal opinion really poor item support from Hauppauge there is an problem the the decoding of television signals from cable corporations. I know from getting a firmware engineer they need to have active firmware updates as new decoding comes out. This is some thing that not everyone knows about QAM for HD. More than the air even says can not decode from time to time. Fox or ABC generally figures it out quick that they can't do that and switch it back. An additional level of proof is that I own an older 2007 Sony Brava and there are no firmware updates for it so I can't decode some of the QAM stations that I pay for. My neighbor has the precise exact same service get those channels just fine due to the fact his tv updates firmware generally so no to run into these concerns. Hauppauge is pushing for their HDPVR identical support no tha If your looking to create a windows media center box for Over the Air for High Def you need to be fine as they won't encode them as cable stations do. If I had to do it all over again I would not buy these as they are becoming outdated hardware quickly. You are at the mercy of the cable business that you connect to, it appears that Hauppauge is not interested in consumer support as I have discovered this problem all more than the world-wide-web (thank you google). So are you investing in the future or investing in hardware that won't be supported by nearby content providers. Cable firms hate shoppers that have media centers or private HDPVR simply because there are no stats. They can't see what you are recording, watching, delete, or skipping. These are my opinions and should not be could be interpreted as truth.

tuner card works flawlessly with WinTV 7. Obtaining all the ATSC digital over-the-air channels in my location. Initially time at setup it missed acquiring channel 38, performing a rescan of the channels fixed that. The WinTV interface is not as user-friendly as media center , not a difficulty for me but will be a learning curve for the wife and children. On the other hand the media center interface is dumbed down so much you lose fine grained control (WinTV delivers greater control). Kudos on the signal strength meter software program, terrific for tweeking alignment of the antenna. I'm finding full strength signal on 25 channels with rooftop yagi antenna. No sound with Windows Media Center. I'm pulling in ATSC digital channel on a rooftop antenna and signals are coming in high strength, but no sound, and i am not a good lip-reader. Playing other media thru Media Center the sound works (like playing DVD), maybe an incompatibility in between MC and the card? Also Media Center only located the .1 channels like 2.1, five.1, but did not come across the .two,.3,.4,.five channels (WinTV located these with no dilemma). Overall it is a wonderful item. Was definitely hoping this would function with MC but no sound is a deal breaker. WinTV saved the day and saved me from returning this product to NewEgg.System Setup:quad core amd processor at 3GhzZalman coolertwin sata 7200rpm drives in raid- four GB ramWindows Vista Ultimate
