does what advertised what a lot more can I say. almost everything functions perfectly in xp pro I would have liked it if it connected to usb header on MoBo. But this way it only takes up 1 USB instead of two dont' connect the USB till right after windows is installed on fresh install. otherwise it will detect as the c drive and your hard drives will be F: or G: but on current win install it will be fine.

looks clean, comes with white and black faceplates, functions as it shoulds, supports USB two. USB cable goes to back of case? you got to be kidding me.... I have to zip tie the cable in three loops inside the case to keep it from dangling like spaghetti in my otherwise quite clean searching setup. I suppose if the front of your case has four usb slots and your motherboard supports four the usb cable is a superior thing. I have only 2 usb in the front of my aerocool masstige so I am dissapointedI can't use the free of charge usb on the mobo. Plus I can't ever see a situation where I could use much more than 2 usb slots in the front anyway. with an exception to maybe a microphone, and Ipod, most usb devices i would think are far better off working with the rear slots to hide the cable lengths.

Every thing 1 requirements in that size compact and ready. That the USB cable for the card readers needs to go from inside the case to the outside connectors.

I haven't ordered this but but soon. Reading all the cons about the usb card being run out the back. Like I said I haven't ordered this yet but I will, just been searching more than the critiques and everybody seems to have the same complaint that it hooks to a usb slot on the back of the pc, why not just get an internal/external usb card and hook it to.

Very valuable, straightforward to use - its just plug and play, you can't complain. I feel Koutech must supply an external -> internal USB header to accommodate a larger group of audience.

Works great with every single factor I threw at it. A bit additional pricey than Mitsumi but can\'t get that 1 any far more. External USB cable - wish it had a MB USB connector.

If you follow directions then you're golden. Do not plug the USB cable in until right after you have installed XP. Koutech does have a website. They do have support. They also have get in touch with info. Contrary to what has been stated. The link is suitable here on Newegg's page. I don't even have this installed in a desktop presently. It's on my table with the usb cord plugged into a laptop and it still works excellent. Just can't use the floppy...but so what. None. I thought I was going to have to acquire an additional 1. Mine is now two years old and doesn't read the SDHC cards, but soon after looking on the Koutech internet site I downloaded the firmware to update the drivers and I should then be able to read SDHC cards. My only dilemma is the driver file won't open and install, so...I emailed support to see if they can help. Most drivers self extract or auto install so I'm ignorant and don't know what to do if it doesn't.

Works good and affordable. Handy to have a floppy drive, already utilised it to flash the bios. Muti-card reader is also handy. may not get considerably use, but for the cost you can't beat it. The mounting screws don't rather fit the drive bay effectively. Not significantly trouble to adjust to fit. USB connector exiting the rear of the case is silly, specially when there are open USB ports on the mobo. I will get an adapter and move it to an internal connection. not at this time.

It works. HORRIBLE Design. If this is an internal card reader, why in the world would they use an external cable?? BEWARE, the usb connection for the card reader goes by way of a slot cover and plugs into the back of the case. To some, this could not be a problem, but it looks quite unprofessional.

Loads of Functionality, my mom necessary it to use her old Floppy discs. It works effectively. I had some installation problems, but nothing that was the products fault. (Dell's stupid case style) I figured it out. The only concern i have with the product was that the Driver disc came shattered. Luckily i found driver software program on the net to install so i didnt need to have it.

Each and every aspect of reader works perfect usb connection comes out the back but it's still finest reader on the marked with floppy, I works wonderful. Employed to get a Floppy disk(s) fail ࿈) error msg, but I went in bios and turned the halt on error setting to only on keyboard and it went away (IDE cord wasn't backward either, is it typically is with this error code) I am quite pleased with my buy and would get once more, I can accept an insane amount of media on my cpu now!!

Excellent quantity of cardslots, the FDD is low profile. Perhaps I didn't look at the photos properly, but this device is developed so that the card reader and floppy reader have two seperate connectors. A FDD to connect to your mobo and a USB cable for the cardreader. I discovered this quite silly. You install the device, then pull the USB cable through the back of your computer (theres a PCI bracket) and plug it into a USB port.Actually odd, kinda ruined my cable mangement plans. It would have been acceptable if it did each by way of USB but you still have to use FDD for the floppy as properly. Front looks fantastic. -2 points for the duct-tape inspired connection philosophy. It would have been so hard to make this a single USB two. mobo connection?

This card reader is great. Have been making use of it for some time and no issues but. Drivers install automatically and Linux recognizes this device with no issue. Excellent value. The use of an external USB rather than internal. But than once more, this may be a pro for some folks. I would extremely recommend this item

Installation was effortless on an old computer that did not have USB headers built into the motherboard. Floppy drive works as you would anticipate and is not USB based. Seems to be created of good excellent and read both my PSP memory cards ƑGB) and my 2GB minisd card with the adapter that came with the sd card. Speed was extremely good considering the personal computer in which it is installed only had USB 1. This drive is perfect for people today with a single outside three.5" drive bay. Includes both white and black drive faces. I wish it had included an adapter that allowed you to use the motherboard header. I will possibly want this in the near future and it would have eliminated many negative critiques for a decent item in this value range. Spring loaded floppy door is black which is fine with me but it wouldn't be good if I wanted to use the white face plate. I think some of the poor critiques are the result of people today not having the needed skills for installation or a total lack of investigation just before getting. If you hook a floppy drive up backwards its very loud and won't work. Disabling boot from USB in BIOS would fix quite a few poor critiques. Not plugging in the usb portion of this drive until after Windows is installed will fix many of the drive letter issues. The photos plainly show the FDD style connector on the back as nicely as the external USB connection. This drive was created with men and women in mind that do not have internal USB headers or wish to use them for some thing else.
