I upgraded from an additional wireless keyboard that would not work much more than a couple of feet from the receiver. This receiver is so tiny it's pretty much invisible. Wonderful for the distance. I only tested it for about 8 - ten feet but it seemed to work fine. Setup was straightforward, no installation necessary. Keyboard worked instantly and mouse came on right after a two second delay, then worked wonderful. Terrible, non-standard keyboard layout. Nice create good quality. I didn't know what to expect since i've in no way purchased Iogear items before. I was pleasantly surprised. It really does operate long range. I haven't tested it beyond the coffee table considering that thats as far as I require it to go. No software program that gives and OSD for volume, num lock etc.. I'm guessing due to the fact its for media center they left that out but i'm certain not absolutely everyone is going to use it for the media center. USB extender cable is a good touch also.

Personally I like the design. The mouse feels good. Click is solid. It's not wonderful, but what do you want?The laser mouse is x100 superior than optical. I am using this for an HTPC and getting able to use the mouse suitable on the sofa is fantastic. Occasionally it is glitchy, and you have to play a guessing game with the keyboard to get it on."MCE" keys do not work with linux and (appear) not to be programmable. The Volume, pause/play do work suitable out the box with 11.04 When I very first got this I was experiencing major lag in the mouse and keyboard, it was horrible. Follow IOGEAR's tips on these forums and either put the usb sensor on the front of the PC or just use the extension cable to let it sit facing the mouse. For me it went from nearly annoyance unusable to pretty much flawless by just utilizing the USB extender

Good RangeVery good Battery Life DurabilityTough to know when keyboard is offWish it was backlit I purchased this to use in my Living Room, to operate a PC in my workplace to my HDTV in twoብ. Mouse was often intermittent from the get started. Thought it was interference on two.4ghz band. Turned off every little thing, including router, but never improved considerably. Still was useable. Decided not to RMA. Keyboard constantly worked very good. Nicely, now mouse cursor died completely (after 7 months). Only buttons works. Also, receiver case broke off when removing it from USB port, so plastic reset button no longer works on the receiver. Even so, keyboard nonetheless works presently. Known as support, explained situtation. They are debating what they will do, and will let me know in 24 hours. Will try to post an update.

Excellent battery life. No difficulties with range as it is about 8 feet from the usb dongle. Just plug it in and your excellent to go! The media center buttons are a nice touch if you use it. From time to time it gets a lil quirky. I believe its just becuase i am not in a straight line from the sensor or arms of my couch get in the way. Other than that...no difficulties.
