Been using win7 since it was launched in October of 2009 .... definitely better than vista ever was and is in MY opinion better than the offered win8 operating system. Got a few copies on sale from NCIX cheaper than anywhere else... thank you NCIX !

Got this on sale for $89.99. Does the job, its's not ideal that it can only handle 16GB of RAM, but I doubt I will ever need more.

Comment:
I have been using windows 7 for a while and I must say that Microsoft did a great job, all the issues found in Vista were addressed. It has now a clean look, and a lot of customization like themes allowing you to personalize your pc the way you want. There are many useful features like aero snap, hotkeys, multiple screen setup that increases your productivity.

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit
Cons:- None!

Pros:- Smooth OS - Great Automatic Security Features
Comment:
Windows 7 is the best OS in the market. Its stable, good, and stylish. Its a MAJOR upgrade from buggy Vista, and is more developer friendly. It does not have Metro, unlike windows 8. Which is a good thing, for desktop users. I will be installing this until Windows 8 is updated.

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit
Cons:16 GB memory limit, some older programs and hardware might not work.

Pros:Stable, fast, powerful, easy to use.
Comment:
I was building a new computer for my Dad and decided that with Windows 8 due this fall, I should upgrade him from XP to 7. The install time seems much faster than XP, and with all brand-new hardware the compatibility was great. Dad seems to be adapting to Win7 without much problem, but since his computer use is almost entirely Firefox and Windows Calculator I wasn't expecting any problems. With the 16 GB memory limit I'd hesitate in using this for most of my clients, but for my Dad that won't be an issue.

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit
Cons:The only cons are the differences between this and ProfessionalClearType

Pros:Relatively stable Windows OS
Comment:
Historically, every other Microsoft operating system has been great. Fortunately, Windows 7 was on schedule to be great. I upgraded from XP because I needed more RAM and have been delighted. Much to my surprise, I actually like Aero and find the new Start menu much faster to use. One of my favourite UI enhancements is that you can confugure the System Tray so that it displays certain icons, or not.

Pros:16 gigs of ram limitation. Good OEM money saver!Better than any other OS.
Comment:
Ultimate is 7 HP, without a few features. Not going to pay 200 bucks for that? Go with 7 HP, best bang-for buck also.Better than Vista. Why vista sucks:*Explorer windows that regularly freeze up *A proprietary web browser, Internet Explorer 7, that comes packaged with the system and cannot be uninstalled or deleted. *400+ MB RAM usage right off the bat. *Built-in DRM to restrict a users ability to do most anything. *UAC (User Account Control), a wonderful feature that questions the intelligence of its users by asking if they're sure they want to do what they're trying to do, then double-checking that they didn't accidentally press "Yes" when they meant "No." *Shadow-copy, and other similar hidden processes, that keep hidden backups of your data files to ensure that your privacy is always compromised. *Little backwards-compatibility. *New versions of old familiar tools that remove all those pesky progress displays and status indicators, so you have no idea whether the program is actually doing anything or not (because that's none of your business). For example, the new checkdisk and defrag. *A complete new set of security holes for virusus, adware, trojans, etc to exploit. *The new "aero" interface, which is incompatible with almost everything non-Microsoft.

Pros:Cheaper than retail version , not windows 8

This is the first windows os that I enjoy using. You can call Microsoft if you change your mainboard and if the are in a good mood they will give you a new product key.

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit
Cons:None.

Pros:Windows 7 is quite simply, amazing. It's been said to death, but this is what Vista SHOULD have been. It's really difficult to go back to XP after using this, which is something Vista couldn't accomplish.
Comment:
Easily the best version of Windows to date. The window snap-to-border feature makes organizing multiple windows (on single and dual monitor setups) a breeze. Even little things, such as the Snipping Tool, make everyday work much easier. I can't see myself going back to XP.

If you are building a gaming pc, windows should be your first choice. It is the only operating system that is compatible with all the latest titles out of the box.If you are a student you can usually get it for cheaper through your university. This review was modfied by poster @ 05-09-12 04:05 PM
