Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders
Comment:
It works with a Fresh system ONLY. Although Microsoft can fix this via phone key in some instances. *NOT A CON* This is OEM disk. Will not function on drives that already HAVE an OS on them or if you have a prebuilt method they require a phone key to function as the OS will recognize that there is an OS present. I discovered this out following having to RMA my MoBo. *AGAIN, NOT A CON* Forgot to mention that this OS is backward compatible. Install your game and give it a shot. Do NOT under ANY circumstances go directly to patch your game. Give it a shot first and see how issues go. The dilemma with running proper for the patch is that the patch may not be compatible with Win 7 as it's new technology. I have Hitman: Blood Cash on my program. Works wonderful, no patch. Have MoH: Airborne and it too works excellent. Both of these games are XP and Vista only as they are not backward compatible to Me and 98. Some games you won't be in a position to play but mostly are preXP evolution and Win7 doesn't recognize them. Heck I even have Hoyle Board and Card games on my program and those are only XP evolutionary games. Can't even play them on Vista. They function wonderful in Win 7.If you are obtaining this as an upgrade disc, go back and attempt once more. You Need to have the UPGRADE disc or you need to acquire a fresh MoBo and possibly a fresh HDD.If you bought this and expected it to upgrade, THAT'S on you. Not MS

Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders
Cons: Some software is not written for 64bit systems yet but the most popular ones are.

Pros: language packs for all regions (play games written for any region with applocal), 64bit allows me to use all of my 8GB of RAM, can still run software written for 32 bit systems.

This OS has served me well, it keeps the few things about vista that were good and combines it with the usability of later versions of XP (IMO)

Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders
Cons: - Uses a lot of memory.- Needs a lot of HDD space.- Security could still be better.- Driver support still spotty.- Mixed feelings about the taskbar.- Still overly expensive.

Pros: - 64 bit = more usable RAM.- Nice usability improvements.- Security improvements.- No issues running 32 bit stuff.- Stable (haven't had a single BSOD!)- Installation is more streamlined.- Gadgets are a nifty feature.- Slightly more control over appearance.

I decided to build a new PC (all parts bought from NCIX) and figured I might as well upgrade from XP while I was at it, which is still a great OS despite being a decade old now. Going 64 bit allows me to use all 8 GB of my RAM, which as a digital graphic artist I'm happy about. I put off upgrading for a long time, but overall I am pleased I finally did. Combined with a good SSD and overclocked quad-core CPU, everything is blazingly fast. The only thing that really upset me was how some companies will use a new OS as leverage against consumers, forcing them to buy new hardware. For example, my nVidia nForce 4 motherboard (which will now power my wife's PC) isn't so old that it didn't deserve proper 64-bit drivers. Same goes for the HP laser printer purchased in 2007 (which movers wrecked, so I guess its irrelevant now). Other annoyances are the amount of hard drive space needed, which made me wish I had purchased an SSD larger than 64 GB, as well as the amount of memory it eats up. So much for 8 GB, which used to be a lot at one time.Things I like include the beefed up security. It saddens me, however, that programs can easily create  their own firewall rules or disable it altogether, and that there is no learning mode for rule creation. This can make it very difficult to get certain programs working correctly without a little sleuthing. At least security as a whole isn't intrusive and seems to work as intended. I think what I'll miss most from XP was Kerio 2.1.5. I'm still looking for a good replacement to what I feel was the perfect firewall.I think what I like most is the fact that Windows 7 x64 is very stable (no crashes so far), and that it can run every 32-bit app I've thrown at it just fine. This was a major concern for me, and a large part of why I procrastinated against upgrading for so long (the other a lack of nVidia RAID drivers). I also like all of the little improvements to the UI, especially navigation. It is so easy to quickly find a particular file now. It all adds up to create  a more polished presentation. The only thing I don't care for is taskbar grouping, which slows me down when multiple windows of the same type are open. Here's to hoping Windows 7 can last as long as XP did before having to upgrade again. Personally I think it will. :)

Finally a replacement for XP! Don't get me wrong, I love XP and still use it on one of my PC's, but Vista was awful. Windows 7 does everything It needs to do and require minimal tweaking. I haven't had a single BSOD in over 3 months!

Since I was seemingly one of the few that actually liked and had no problems with Vista, I put off upgrading to 7 for quite a while. When I did switch over I had no issues, and it is faster and smoother than Vista. No compatibility problems, even though I had very few with Vista 7 seems to be improved.

Cons: none really

Pros: stable and secure, compatability
Comment:
Have been running windows 7 for quite some time now and I have to say it's by far one of the best os's ms has done, it's how windows vista SHOULD have been in my opinion, quite stable and secure, great for newer users and some great visual enhancments and features. Resource wise it uses less resources then vista and looks 2x better in my opinion. with windows 7 it's really all the little things that make a huge difference

Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders
Cons: -Performance???

Pros: -Boots faster than XP and Vista-Snap in feature is pretty hand-Putting recycle bin in the task bar keeps the desktop clean-Less clutter on the task bar-Easy home group setup
Comment:
Windows 7's UI is much more user friendly. Setting up my home group was a breeze. If you're still on XP I would recommend switching. I'm not sure how much better this is than Vista except for some of the little tweaks they put in.

Win7 has great features for high end users as well as beginners. It is remarkably better than Vista and prior. The new functions of pinning maximizing and unmaximizing windows just by click hold and drag is fantastic. The new style task bar us wondeful. I like Win7 alot. Whether for office or gamer this is a must to have. Best Windows yet! Best performance yet!

Much Better
Comment:
I have been running it for a few monthes now and its so much better than vista and xp. My friends still think XP is the best because they say 7 and vista are resource hogs. I told them to upgrade their computers to a more modern stardard like dual core instead of a 478 P4. Would Recomend to anyone.

MS are finally getting their act together and getting the bugs out before putting the product on the selves. Although there are still some small glitches once in a while, MS 7 is still the best OS since a very very very long time.

Very nice OS
Comment:
After installing Win 7 64 bit,the first thing I always do is look at device manager. I had setup my HD's in the Bios for raid & set up the array mode & cluster size at the post boot F10 prompt. When I looked at device manager I was surprized to see all the IC & raid controller drivers installed. All I had to do was install the latest drivers for my graphics cards in SLI mode. Very nice OS. The compatibility modes to run software with different OS's seem to work most of the time too. I always right click on everything I want to run. If it gives me the option to run as administrator I always run it that way.

Great for Expert Admins
Comment:
I have been using Windows since 3.0 and Windows has come a very long way. I was afraid that they were losing their way with Vista and I did not recommend Vista for Enterprise or Home environments. I even started using Ubuntu (still do) BUT, Windows 7 was desperately need for MS and they did a fantastic job. I highly recommend it for both Enterprise and Home.

Tons of neat little extras you never knew you would need. Fantastic price for such a great OS. Definitely recommend an install on formatted HD though. I had to purchase a new HD to load to cause it wouldn't jive with xp64. But now it works awesome! Thanks!
