Mushkin Enhanced 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM Dual Channel Kit Memory for Apple
Comment:
Technique Description:MACBOOK PRO 17" (MID-2010)Core i5 2.53 GHzDefault Memory: 4GB ƒx 2GB SO-DIMM modules)I bought the Mushkin Enhanced Memory KIT that comes with two 4GB SO-DIMMs so I could upgrade my method to 8GB. One of the 4GB SO-DIMMs worked great but the other was absolutely messed up (single and double bit errors). The module that worked seemed okay but who cares because I had to send the whole Memory KIT back to NewEgg for replacement. So many cons. 1. Mushkin claims that these modules are tested for Apple MacBooks and since of this it charges a premium. On the other hand, it seems like they don't test the modules at all just before they package them. It took me 2 minutes to come across the defective module by operating the Apple Hardware Test. I certainly suggest everyone who buys these modules to run the built in Apple Hardware Test (Extended mode) to see if the memory is cost-free of errors.2. The way I calculate it I have a 1 in 4 likelihood of receiving a Mushkin Dual Channel Kit Memory that has both SO-DIMMs that function (best case). This means either I maintain sending these KITs back to NewEgg for replacements or just forget it and get a refund soon after paying a 15% restocking fee !!!!!! What a scam.three. I decided to send the module back mainly because Mushkin had a ฤ dollar rebate for this Dual Channel 4GB Kit and I will use that dollars to offset the price of sending the kit back. I will try one last time, immediately after that I will ask for a refund. I saw posts about the internet saying that these modules had been not compatible on MBP 17" Core i5 machines but that does not seem to be the case. When the modules work they seem to work fine. The dilemma is locating one that works. Mushkin keeps going downhill. In the past I have purchased many Mushkin modules without ever having any difficulties but soon after this knowledge I believe I will be moving on. For people today looking for good memory module upgrades for the MBP 17 (MID-2010) the OWC SO-DIMMs seem to be fairly good. The modules are high high quality with superb testing and consumer support. You spend a small bit a lot more but at least you don't have to deal with stuff like this.NOTE: I am giving Mushkin a rating of 1 simply because I am dissapointed that these modules seemed like they were not tested before being packaged and shipped. On a side note, I tested this on other Apple and non-Apple laptops and the issue kept showing up. The issue is with the SO-DIMM module.

Wonderful distinction in speed with the further ram for my MacBook Pro... My Mac beginning freezing randomly 1 day and got progressively worse... Following running the Apple Hardware Test - it in fact hung though trying to do the memory test. Attempted reseating the ram and it produced no distinction. Finally re-installed my original ram and all is well. Now I have to go by way of the trouble of getting this ram replaced. Sigh.... Mushkin - I certain hope you'll be simple to function with!

None. Mc is noticably slower with this RAM installed. Went from 4GB to 8GB, brand new MacBook Pro 13", Running an SSD boot drive. Obtaining lags all more than the place, and often the Finder will freeze for about 10 seconds. Can not recommend. I run a Mac shop - incredibly skilled. Had 16 GB of memory up and running in my new Late 2009 iMac 27" i7 in a matter of minutes. None. Keep in thoughts that you'll almost certainly need to have just a bit of force to get them to click into your iMac.

Mushkin Enhanced 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM Dual Channel Kit Memory for Apple
Cons:The modules I bought stopped working within a few weeks

Pros:Fast, apple computer detects it
Comment:
I bought and installed these in my sister's 15" summer 2008 macbook pro. Did not run a memtest, the computer periodically crashed starting a few weeks after install. Ran a memtest a few days out of RMA, found one of the modules to be bad. I highly recommend mushkin from my past experience with them, and despite this bad experience do not hesitate to recommend this ram. When buying ram, always run a memtest after install!

Mushkin Enhanced 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM Dual Channel Kit Memory for Apple

Cheep but not worth the trouble I installed this memory on my iMac 27” i7 (late 2009 Model), began seeing application and technique crashes. I took to apple store; they changed the energy supply, logic board and challenging drive. I nonetheless skilled the exact same problem. They told me it could be my Mushkin memory that I have added. So, I switched back to original memory and everything on my iMac is working effectively. I think this memory is either defective or not compatible with iMac. I have submitted support request yesterday, no response yet.

Mushkin Enhanced 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM Dual Channel Kit Memory for Apple
Cons:None that I am aware of..

Pros:The ram works, what more can you ask for?
Comment:
I have an Unibody MacBook, you know, the stuff before they got rebranded as MacBook Pro , because I read as long as your BootRom is MB51.007D.B03 or newer, you can actually make use of the full 8GB. So, I decided to buy it in anticipation that I may need more memory on OS X Lion.Turns out, it works... Very great!I am happy with the new memory upgrade, but not happy with the price continuing to drop. Let's hope ram price start to bounce up soon, so I can sell off the 2x2GB Apple OEM modules that were in my MacBook to recuperate some of the cost!

Works as advertised, Installed on my mid 2010 MBP, worked perfectly recognized instantly no errors! An excellent and cheap upgrade especially for the price apple charges for the upgrade, its cheaper to buy the MBP with the standard 4 gigs installed and buy this for the upgrade

Works flawlessly in late 2009 Macbook pro 2.53 GHz C2D. This RAM is really inexpensive. Having 8 GB of RAM gives a lot of breathing room for CS4 and virtualbox. With the rebate and selling my old ram ƒx2GB), I was able to upgrade to 8 GB for a total of 120 bucks. It doesn't get a great deal superior than that. none It's obvious that Mushkin has terrific customer support from the replies I see on this site. I wouldn't be discouraged by some of the negative reviews. All RAM manufacturers put out some defective RAM (yup you can even get defective RAM from Apple originals), and Mushkin will replace it for free. Also I'm sure you could RMA it from newegg too.

This is wonderful memory for Mac, I have upgraded my Mac Mini from 1GB to 8GB. Mac Mini is blazing fast now with 8GB. Running severalƓ- four Linux) VMs on VMFusion is smooth sailing. Newegg is a excellent internet site, I am loyal customer of newegg. When I bought this memory on 27th July 2010, they just announced ฤ mail-in-rebate(last date to apply for rebate was 30th Aug), I was pleased that I am going to get ฤ back. unfortunately I did not download the rebate form on the similar day.I thought downloading rebate form soon after a week of memory in use, and could not locate rebate form on 11th Aug. Newegg customer service claims that "there was no such rebate on the item". What a disappointing service. it is not the matter of ฤ, but the reliability of the a properly identified website. Even placing that offer you was a mistake, newegg need to accept that but cannot say there was no rebate at all. Lesson learnt: Do not trust any web site although it has terrific track record, think what you see not their track record. Download rebate forms along with your order. Three Eggs are due to the fact of service, not about the product.

Needed to boost my MBP to 8GB from 6GB as running VMware was sucking the life out of my machine. OS X is lousy at managing memory (Google it, you'll see). The extra memory has helped immensely. We have a number of MBPs at work running Mushkin chips with no problems.

Installed this RAM on a mid 2009 15 inch macbook pro with no issues at all, though I have only used it for a couple hours, I am not experiencing any issues that the i7 and i5 macbook pro owners skilled. No cons, worked as it's suppose to. From the critiques below, looks like i5 and i7 macbook pro owners are experiencing issues with this RAM. So, a word of caution with i5 and i7 macbook pro owners, that it may well or might not work. It worked fine on my mid 2009 macbook pro.
