Rapidly, simple to connect and it functions. None. I replaced a 10럼 hub with this one and nearly doubled speeds on my home network. I had a mixture of 1 10럼 and an older model of the Netgear GS108--which failed right after 5 years. This obtain gives me two of the newer GS108 model and it is extremely fast!

This switch does specifically what it is created to do.Works beautifully and after replacing an Intellinet 10럼 switch, file transfers over the network here at my home are noticeably faster. Transfer tests show about a five.5x improve.. given overhead from windows, cabling concerns, etc, I didn't anticipate 10x. None.

Rock solid performance. Reliability is unsurpassed - I've employed these and the 5 port version on a number of installs and have yet to have one fail Price is a small high, but I'm only saying that since I can't believe of anything else. You get what you pay for. The metal enclosure is an indicator of the top quality of this product.

Effortless Installation. Ran cat 6 cable to bedroom, plugged in switch and cables. Running 1gb connection to that room. Port that is for the incoming connection must be labeled clearly. This is the second 1 that I have bought. The 1st one bought over a year ago, runs the net to my entertainment center/game consoles. I have had no complications with the switch at all, and anticipate none with this second 1 I am adding to my network.

I hesitate to give a glowing assessment of something that has prospective cap troubles, but I gotta' provide my own outcomes vs. what others have skilled. I've had completely no difficulty with this switch in over three years of constant, high targeted traffic use. This certain unit handles the far end of the network and has all eight ports operating mixed ten럼񲿘 equipment. It's on 24ǝ, and in no way provides me difficulties. Basically, the fancy-schmancy managed HP switches back in the server rack are additional difficulty than this factor ever was. It runs cool, it by no means desires resetting, it is tiny and quiet (no fan), it has a lifetime warranty, and it doesn't appear to degrade on throughput with the mixed speeds. There is small to dislike about this switch. Extremely few, but if I had to pick something, I'd say that having the cables at the front in a remote box like this is not to my liking. Don't misunderstand, I like 'em on the front in the server rack, but for the application that this is applied in, it would be nice to have the wires coming in at the rear of the box. It makes it much less "obvious" when the wires can be tucked away behind the switch. Additionally, when you have all of those wires coming into the front of the switch, they tend to obscure the lights at the front as properly. It is not some thing to downgrade the rating though. I knew this was the case when I bought it, and it's more a matter of taste than an operational issue anyway. This is a nice sturdy/heavy box. It permits it to stay in one location when put down. Non-metal cased switches tend to slide about a bit additional, and with eight cables going into it there's alway the yahoo who decides to begin pulling on the cables. A heavier unit is a lot more most likely to prevail over the stupid. The lights are nice and bright. For the price it's a superior system, and I now own three of this model. With a lifetime warranty, I may have also acquired a lifetime supply of eight port switches. One (actually three) less thing(s) to be concerned about. :-)

Tiny foot print, handles huge frames (main reason for purchasing it) and the price was suitable, I own 3 10럼 Netgear switches, 1 Hawking, and three Linksys. I prefer Nestgear considering that I have in no way had any problems. NONE run a multiplatform network at household (Linux primary for servers and workstations, Windoze for the wife. I wanted to bring the network up into the gigabit globe since we use te servers for multimedia storage. I give Netgear high ratings simply because of the reliability I have experienced from the items over the past 15 years making use of them. NewEgg generally gets the highest rating for service as nicely. I have been Egging given that they had been Egg Head Software in the old days.

Inexpensive, sturdy case, decent-design wall wart. Works nicely in the course of the period that they work I've now had the electrolytic capacitors fail in about 80% of units, and I'm sure the rest will fail soon. They use low-cost parts, so they dry out and fail. Cheap aluminum electrolytics have develop into the scourge of the electronic industry; I have my Atari 800 method from 1980 and it's electrolytic capacitors are nonetheless very good, though they're like 20 years past the failure point. These new Chinese capacitors can't even make it two years. They save a couple of cents on the front finish and make us pay for it in the back finish.I have much, a lot older Netgear "blue" series gear that still works, so they can make them well if they want to.Netgear has TERRIBLE, AWFUL Customer SERVICE. Want to have some tech in "that country south of Nepal" talk down to you and tell you--that in spite of an MSEE and 20 years knowledge--that you don't know what you are talking about? Acquire NetGear? There is a lifetime warranty on these units, but based on my past expertise, it is less difficult and typically more affordable to just repair them myself. Aside from the capacitors, these units do function really nicely and I'm willing to put up with the general crappiness of NetGear mainly because I can fix it myself in a few minutes, and as soon as we fix them they Stay fixed. I ordered a fresh stock of good Panasonic 105C caps from Mouser just for these stupid items. If I could not fix them, I don't think I would even bother with Netgear anymore. If you're preparing a large rollout (we utilized two for each overbooked student workplace), superior get some spares so you can swap them out as they fail. Superior but, just pull them apart from the start off and replace all the caps. But we by no means seem to have time for that.Did you know that NewEgg considers the name of the nation that contains the Indus river to be a dirty word?!? Neither did I.

Compact, rapidly, priced suitable. None so far. It seems the V2 models weren't quite good, which isn't surprising simply because Netgear has constantly been hit-or-miss. I refuse to buy their routers anymore, but so far Netgear switches haven't let me down and the V3 appears to have solved a lot of the old issues. Haven't owned this one incredibly lengthy although, bought for a client's small company about two months ago.

The switch is silent, cool, and quick. I employed the switch since November 2006 until these days fourቦ񳏊 when it died. I have the flashing lights of death that disconnect all computers connected to it. I checked the capacitors and none of them are bulged. I used a volt meter on the energy brick and the voltage appears low at 7.6V exactly where it is rated for 12V. The unit has generally been plugged into my UPS units all through the years. I'm disappointing that it did not last longer.

With a suitable network setup this thing flies. No longer do I get router resets when transferring big files on my network. Further far more I put a lot of legal torrents by means of this thing and haven't had a difficulty but. None so far but we'll see. Unless a item certainly amazes me I never ever give anything 5 stars.

Solid metal casing. Absolutely flawless networking and amazing performance. Takes a beating. None. There ought to be a poor batch of these out there. I've had 3 units for between 1 and 3 years and they've been seriously abused (physically dropped and kicked around, frozen and baked in the back seat of my auto and operated in unreliable power environments). Not one of them has even so a lot as dropped a packet. My Dlinks would regularly lock up on me and require power cycling and I fried two Linksys and 1 Belkin hubs running side by side with these. I'm preparing to buy a different two of these GS108s and I'm hoping that I wasn't just lucky with the other people.

seemed to have compatibility problems with computers nics, IPcameras, gaming systems, and so on....worked with everything I plugged into though it lasted. normally two.5 years would be superior for a tech product, but the *improved* top quality this organization claimed at the time of acquire was not there. this appears to be the same low high quality they've been churning out since the mid 2000s. I have one of their first home routers manufactured in 2000 and it still works-that's the quality they utilized to be recognized for this was a high quality brand prior to the mid 2000s; like so several of there other goods due to the fact then this item was not high good quality. there are two chips controlling 4 ports each and every. appears the second chip died, as plugging any device into any port five-8 locks the unit up... I don't know if any other brand is any better at this cost point, but I'm positive going to attempt. This was the last attempt on my portion to hope a when terrific brand had indeed corrected it's excellent mistakes. appears they have not

Super fast switch, plug and play, no config, just works... Even so ... Recently, all my downloads on a certain PC had been mysteriously corrupt. I reinstalled on unique hard drives, diagnosed my NIC swapped ports on the switch, etc... all to no avail. ALL downloads had been corrupt! Weird. Then I thought, "hey i'll just plug this into my primary router and see what happens". Nicely guess what, no much more corrupt downloads.I have no clue how this switch would corrupt downloads consistently, to this and other machines on my LAN, but darn it wasted a bunch of time !! Going to see if I can return it or RMA it.

I now have two of these switches. One of them has been in operation for far more than a year, the other was bought a month ago. I'm obtaining transfer rates in excess of 107MB/s between Linux boxes (all utilizing Intel PCI-E GIG-E NICs. Concerned about the internal power issues taking my network out of operation though I'm out of town, but a opportunity I'm willing to gamble with given the expense/performance ratio. As I mentioned, 1 of these has been in operation for much more than a year under moderate load. I now have two running, one in the office and one in the server closet, we'll see how they hold up.

Incredibly straightforward to install. Just plug it in and go. My setup has it connected to a NG WNDR3700. I'd maxed the ports and necessary some expansion. I haven't gone to the effort to do genuine-planet benchmarks of devices connected via the switch vs direct to the router. What I do know is that we push a fair amt of A/V information around here for wired HTPC's and HDHomeruns. At no time do we notice any lags. Never ever did w/o it for that matter. It runs fairly cool to the touch, so I'd envision power usage is minimal, w/o bothering to hook up a kill-a-watt. I like the front panel access as it makes hookups effortless. This sits in a closet so the bright LED's don't matter so a great deal. None

Looks nice, solid footprint, When it went poor the lights kept blinking, no indication that this was the difficulty until I bypassed the Router and went directly into my Laptop. Soon after reading the critiques of the other people here I would be wary of this item. Now I will get in touch with Netgear to get a replacement.

It works. It is a excellent unmanaged switch. The lifetime warranty on the switch itself is excellent even although shipping charges may possibly be more than just purchasing a replacement in the future. Two other nice characteristics are that it honors IEEE 802.1p and DSCP priority tags and supports jumbo frames up to 9,720 bytes. I believe the base price is a little high for what it is, even with lifetime warranty on the switch. The wall wart warranty is only two years. With the rebate plus instant discount my obtain cost is reasonable.I hate mail-in rebates and will from time to time pass on an item even with a rebate. I seriously regarded as passing on this item.
