Bought 2 for my home network. The very first is still working excellent 6 months later. I have no concept how the second broke, but it did. One of the ports would not do something. After spending an hour on the telephone answering the "Did you plug it in questions", NETGEAR finally agreed to fix it. After a month, it is now fixed and working. If it doesn't working, just call the manufacturer rather of complaining to the public. They generally want your continued organization.

I have a couple of these throughout the house and they work wonderful. Very good economical way to upgrade to Gigabit Ethernet for your SOHO. Only five ports, that's reflected in the price however.

Tiny, Gigabit, Inexpensive, Matches the instances and colouring of other Netgear merchandise, amber/green LEDs that tell you if each and every connection is ten럼 or 1000Mbit. Runs extremely, extremely hot This a a great tiny switch. It does what it is supposed to do and nothing far more. It does get quite warm when plugged in, but so long as it's not covered or in the middle of a stack of points, it doesn't get alarmingly hot. The heat hasn't triggered any complications, so I'm assuming that it's within spec.

Works best. Nice seeking design. Unit appears to run some what warm, but that is to be expected considering that it has no cooling fan. It can also be a pain to eliminate network cables with the large rubber ends more than the jacks. But that isn't really a con for the switch, more so for the cables. Not positive what every person else is complaining about. Mine doesn't switch from 100 to 1000 mbps or more than heat. Possibly the men and women getting the speed complications are not utilizing Cat 6 cables.

I have four machines with gigabit NICs ƒ Intel, 1 RealTek, 1 3Com). All plugged into this switch working with a variety of CAT-6 cables. Worked like a charm with no any fuss. Copied 400MB in under 10 seconds in between old Pentiums. I like the size of the box too, extremely stylish as nicely. Warm to the touch in a cool space, hopefully hot summer weather will not degrade performance. Inexpensive and fast, what additional can you want?

Low value. Died right after 8 months. Netgear support has supplied a replacement/RMA with overnight advance shipping... nearly for the very same cost I originally bought it for on Newegg.

Worked flawlessly.. (while it worked).. Cost was low. Looked slicker than the options. Fast and quite easy to set-up. Stopped working immediately after only 4 months. Product was originally purchased to link household computers with a gigabit connection. Overall the item worked wonderful, until it all of a sudden and without having warning died. After only four months of quite light use, the item is useless. The device now sits and cycles, causing everything connected to it (router and 3 servers) to do the identical. Unplugging the energy and powering it back up will get it operating for a couple of minutes prior to the cycling starts once more.If you have one of these and your network suddenly starts playing "peek-a-boo" with you in the TaskBar, or your Linux connection appears to maintain popping off and back on, this is the culprit.Can\'t suggest this item at all.

I use this for connections in between several systems at house such as a file server. In 5 years of continuous use, I've however to have a issue with it. Through file transfers, I've sustained ᢈMB/s with this switch. I'm not positive if I hit the limit of the switch or the systems transferring the files. Odd shape makes stacking it difficult.

Jumbo framing is super quickly!!! Can't go wrong for under โ.00 The switch gets really hot if all ports are in use. The style of this switch causes it to quickly fall more than if all ports are in use. Decent switch at a reasonable cost. I have it 4 stars due to the fact it worked nicely for two years without having any issues. I have owned this switch because October 2005. I it still runs terrific. Purchased a new unibody Apple Macbook with gigabit ethernet. Even with a CAT6 cable (also tried CAT5, CAT5e), the macbook refuses to link up at 1000Mbps. I even tried forcing the connection via Program Preferences, but the link it just drop, re-connect, drop, re-connect in a forever loop.

Gigabit and it works kind of. I had been attempting for quite some time to get Jumbo Frames working with each Linux and Win and couldn't get a packet larger then 1512 to get past the switch so I asked NETGEAR what the difficulty was and that is what I got. Beware it doesn't have Jumbo Frames. It may possibly also be causing packet loss in games right after it warms up some too. Modest, straightforward to install and low price Effectively, it was working fine for a while but now it appears to shut down from time to time and now its restarting on its own. This is acquiring in the way of my automatic backups. While its low cost I would advise a more dependable unit.

Worked for a while.When it died, it died completely, which is *way* better than hubs that go flaky and take down your whole network. Died after just a few months.

Switch worked out wonderful. I plugged all computers and wireless router directly into the switch and worked proper away.Experienced actual transfer speeds of around 80 - 100 MB/sec between computers with gigabit. I was getting around 10 MB/sec with the prior 100Mbps network. None in the 1.5 months I've owned it.
