worked great at very first, up to 54mbps Started losing connections and throttling d/l speeds. What a waste of cash. A router ought to last longer than six months. I use it for heavy LAN service.

Router worked OK at initially.... So immediately after encountering many connection problems with my wired connection and undertaking the rounds with Netgear's tech support, I had sufficient and returned the router for a straight swap. Precise same router, precise same issue. To make things even far more fun, my upstairs wireless connection began degrading and running very slowly. Once more, I was on the phone with Netgear's tech support who have overall verified not to be really helpful. I had 1 agent tell me absolutely nothing could be completed about the faulty wired connection but perhaps they could assist me with the wireless challenge. After several a headache, I returned this second router for a full refund. This is a followup to my initial review. I would have just edited the original but apparently that can not be completed. Concerning Netgear's overall tech support, I am not impressed at all. Quite a few did not speak good English and even though a couple of genuinely tried to solve my problems, some other people seemed misinformed. Following returning the second router, I briefly considered going back to the dreaded Linksys but instead decided to give Netgear however a different likelihood and got a N600 WNDR3400 dual band router. Was a little a lot more $$ but aside from the goofy lights on the best of the unit, it has been operating pretty superior with no complications. I'll hold off on writing a evaluation until later although...

N 300mbps. Excellent range. Has to be shut off each day to restore capability to connect. Inconvenient? Yes. Delivers what's promised? You bet. Is it the similar for just about every router? Doubtable. It's worth a try.

Looks fantastic. Wired connection was fine. Wireless would disconnect intermittently over a period of many weeks, requiring reboots to perform again. Tried it with two unique laptops and had the same problem. Tried altering settings, updating firmware, etc. Lastly gave up and installed a D-link DIR-655. Am hoping to RMA back to Netgear. Commonly I like Netgear items. This is an awful one.

Trustworthy, high good quality item. The web interface is decent and I didn't have any trouble setting the security to WPA2-PSK [AES]. I have each LAN port in use plus many wireless laptops without having any trouble. This was an upgrade of an older Netgear router and it helped solve my bottleneck. I had a little trouble setting it up at 1st, but immediately after it was set up, I haven't had any complications.

Easy install. When my wife (a non-techie) required to connect with her new laptop, she was able to install the netgear adapter and connect to the router will no trouble. The router settings are robust and supply several options that are straightforward to navigate through, when you get utilised to it. It has a fairly tiny frame, so fits in little, out of the way locations. This product functions fine most of the time; on the other hand, about as soon as a week or so all adapters in the residence suddenly have trouble seeing the network. They can't connect, or if they do connect they have "limited availability." At this point, a power cycling is required. Once that is performed, the router functions fine until the next time. This is clearly frustrating, specially due to the fact I'm an on-line gamer and my wife downloads tons 'o stuff for her hobbies and function. We are acquiring we just need something a lot more trustworthy. I switched from Linksys to Netgear mainly because of the superior expense. I'm thinking about switching back. The price just isn't worth the pain of losing network connectivity ideal when you will need it most!

Truly quick connection. Longer range and an uncomplicated setup. I was worried about how challenging it was going to be to setup a wireless password, but it was really the opposite. The instructions had been actions 1 2 3, just as effortless as that. Now I have no difficulties with playing on the net with my wii. The other feature I adore is it has a power on and off button that helps save energy when you are not making use of your wireless router. Adore my new router. I have read other critiques and I have to agree with just one of them. It does feel like it is created of inexpensive plastic. Other then that, I adore it. I switched from my old Linksys to this new faster Netgear router and I have to say, I'm glad I did. I am quite content with my new product due to the fact not only my mbps are greater, but I can connect all my wireless goods to it with no loosing bandwidth. This is a need to purchase.

Looks fairly I guess. Connection degrades right after a day or two. Bi-weekly restarts required for a consistent connection. Wireless configuration is goofy too. Has all sorts of extra garbage as 'features' which just make factors un-necessarily complicated. Not impressed at all.

I get up to 300mps close to the router, havent lost connectioon but so far. i only get 108mps in my room which is like 15ft away from the router via the wall with 3signal bars outa 5. gets the very same amount of signal from my old wireless g router. this is a excellent router for a small residence. its quick and straightforward to set up. if your seeking for excellent range then this is not for you. attempt 1 with external antennas.

Easy setup, Excellent physical design, decent wireless connection Wired connection speed slower than my last G Router. Used the wireless for my Xbox 360, and worked fine, but hooked up the laptop or computer by way of wire to the router. Videos are now loading FAR slower than last router. Contemplating returning this 1, if I still can.

Looks extremely good, very contemporary, and appears solid. However, it shows fingerprints a lot, and is really light in weight. Also, the supplied base won't stay on very properly, and has to be pushed back on if you move it at all. Setup-wise, it was simple to get up and running. I tried it in mixed G/N mode and N-Only mode, and both got their max speeds ࿖mbps(G) and 300mbps(N)).The firmware that came with it was outdated , and when I went into the management console, it located and flashed to the newest version. Every thing was working fantastic. But, not 1 to leave properly-sufficient alone, I decided to flash DD-WRT onto it. Well, to make a long stort short, there was ZERO benefit in performing this (if you only intend to use it as a router). The signal and connection speeds fluctuate far more than the Netgear firmware, and the signal strength went down from 99% to 90% -10 ft away. I tried boosting the TX voltage to 101mv ࿧mv default), but it created no difference. Netgear's console is fine, so leave it alone. Other than the mentioned cosmetic issues, there are no cons. This is a reliable and solid-fuctioning router -nicely worth the ์ I paid. Even far better at the reconditioned price of อ.99. Effortless to setup, wonderful speeds, solid signals via walls, attractive, trustworthy. Buy it!! As soon as you flash to DD-WRT, you can\'t flash back to the Netgear firmware -it provides a "flash failed" msg. Oh, and yet another thing, when employing DD-WRT the power light becomes incredibly dim, and the Push-button security feature, and the security button itself, no longer works or lights up. So, if you value those functions, forget DD-WRT. Remember, none of this is the routers fault. It's a fantastic item for the cash!!!

Super rapidly WiFi speed, rather simple set up, great utility to aid you bring the unit up and operating. I was able to pick the unit up for โ on sale on Black Friday and quite content I pulled the trigger. Good range, backwards compatible on B and G. Have to update the unit to 300 mps, comes factory set at 145 mps I've had the unit for about a week now and it blows away my Linksys WiFi router. Highly suggested.

Price (bought refurbished model for ภ). Didn't come with an install CD. Wouldn't have employed it any approaches. I can't confirm if it won't be included with the ๠ version. If you'd like to set up without having making use of the CD. Open your browser sort 薐.168.1.1" hit enter. Enter admin as both usernam and password. Configure from there. Netgear has generally sucked for me, but this was basically a deal I couldn't pass up. I've been happy with this Netgear item so far. My family PC downstairs went 1 bar and occasionally no signal at all on 802.11g to two or the bars with this router.

It does function. It is slow! Range is much less than my 4 yr old G router. All my Dell laptops take forever to connect to this router. I prefered my old Linksys G router. By the way, the N router will not speed up downloads. Your cable provider will nonetheless likely be the bottleneck.

Pros are overshadowed by lack of characteristics. See my thoughts. This does not have a firewall in any sense of the word. Low cost router. I tried. Forgot about trying to get a dependable connection using this. I’m not even talking about the wireless. It’s a simple wired connection. I do IT consulting for a living and located this product lacks in each and every category. The firewall does not enable port redirection such as comes in on port 81 but maps to port 80 on the nearby PC nor can it deal with WOL because the arp table gets cleared immediately after 7 minutes. Um, DLINK does this. I tried to inform them of the problem, but following three hours of runaround and hang ups I gave up. They lost a customer for life and everybody a product to. DO NOT Acquire.PS: Tech support is SO bad, it ought to be a late night act.

Arrived, worked out of the box. The CD prompted me to do a firmware upgrade...did it, the device bricked. 1 hour on the telephone with a truly dumb tech individual did not resolve it. Was told to return. BTW, I'm a director of IT, network design is what I do. Kept telling the dumb tech on the telephone that the firmware corrupted, she wouldn't listen. Bad device...bad service!

Wonderful overall device. The manual setup is straightforward, or if you pick, you can let the cd do the work for you. Either way you can have this unit up and running in less than 15mins.You can pick unique speed modes in the router setup for support of legacy devices. As far as I could tell, if you pick 300Mbs, you cannot support b/g devices. But, if its backed off to 150 Mbs, bྫMbs)/g࿖Mbs)/n鳖Mbs) all work fine.Throughput is incredibly acceptable. No lag on Xbox LIVE and no stuttering though streaming YouTube at 720p on a 15downǛup connection. Also, no interference with numerous attached devices ƒ Android Phones, Xbox, Desktop, and Laptop). If you are lazy and don't really feel like remembering your security key, then you can press the lazy button on the front of it and it will let a connecting device have the security key.You can opt for not to broadcast your SSID for added security or enable precise devices to attach exclusively.Has all of the other common bells ans whistles Older security techniques have been taken out (WEP). Not a con if you won't have an issue either using no security or working with WPA/WPA2. I purchased this to upgrade an OLD Netgear 802.11b router. Its connection was acquiring flaky. I can't tell you how considerably happier I am with this item. I haven't had to reboot it considering that I set it up.As generally, Thanks Newegg for terrific prices and availability.

Incredibly excellent performance and range for the cost. Easily covers a 2500 square foot apartment in the city with no speed issues. Straightforward firmware updates and setup working with the internet-based config. None at this time, in particular thinking of the cost. This is my second Netgear router and I am once more impressed with the speed and range of their mid-level items. I thought I was going to will need to spend a lot a lot more $ for the WNR3000 model to cover my 2500 square foot, 2-floor city apartment, but this model provides superior speed all over. Comcast 25 Mb/s program gets 30+ with a wired connection, 18-20 wireless perfect next to the router, and 10 at the furthest point away in the apartment. That compares to 1 Mb/s or much less with the Linksys model this replaces. For the price, you can't go wrong. (Unfortunately, I was unable to buy this from Newegg!)

got it refurbished seriously low cost. But the performance and quality is incredibly great. I have it in the basement, but all our systems are on major floor, still 90% reception or superior. my prior modem was a sm barricade 7004vbr cabled. so to compare, the wireless WNR2000 is better than my SMC. none this is a peppy small router with nice parental controls and double firewall, I couldn't be happier.

Superior cost for an N router. Once I got it configured, it is running fine. The auto setup software that came with this router did not work. I called Tech Support and there was a terrible language barrier. Immediately after 8 tries, I was unable to make him fully grasp the Serial Number of my router. In frustration, I hung up. Miraculously, I was in a position to tweak the settings myself and got the router up and running. Have tech support technicians who can speak and recognize English.

Just got one in March 2010. Setup took less than 10 min out of the box. Easily connected two wireless G PCs and one Wireless N PC as well as 1 Mac and 2 hardwired PCs. The 360 console is dynamite FAST now. Range in a 4500 SqFt house is a huge plus compared to wireless G. Pros, Rage through walls is great. Overall network speed a plus as well as the family network security plan is fantastic. Price! Cons, Email log notification still has little to no configuration. Unless you run the email server out of your house there is little chance of a successful connection. Overall I give this beauty an A, it misses the plus because of the email faults.
