Plug it in and it works. Identified each piece of equipment at the proper speed for every single. Replaced a ten럼 5 port switch. Fast shipping and arrived in great shape. None Lights indicate selected speed on every port. Newegg is the greatest!

Worked good for a though. Ran at wire speed even over longish (about 100ft) cables. Performed nicely in between 100mb/s and 1000mb/s devices. Following a year began dropping packets, causing an enormous drop in throughput with no an outright failure. Took a swap with a different switch to establish that the problem wasn't cabling issues. Purchased at nearby retailer. Ordered replacement here.

Quickly. Small and shiny. Pretty compact for 8 ports. Numbered lights on front display diverse colors based on 100Mbit or Gigabit. Lightweight, so cables can move it about. Netgear makes great networking hardware.

Works instantly when connected. I have 3 netgear switches - two of them five port versions and this is the 8 port version. *Never* had any concerns with these. Two of them are "hidden" - 1 in a closet and the other in the basement. The 1 in the basement was connected pretty much a year ago and I have not as soon as had to go down and take a appear due to the fact its been functioning flawlessly! Maybe they could make these in black? ;-) Can't feel of any other con!

It's a network switch, what do you expect? It works as advertised. Good big numbers on the front with LEDs that are green for G-bit, yellow for slower. Quick throughput. None that I know of.

I got this switch so long ago I can't bear in mind when it was. It has worked good the entire time. The only glitch I've noticed is how some boxes with Realtek 8169 based gigabit cards would come up in 100 Mbit until I cycled energy on the switch, then they would be at gigabit. I put a Netgear GA311 card in the box that was doing that, and it stopped. That's an 8169 based card as nicely. So that cured all issues I've ever noticed with the switch. Not certain why so quite a few men and women are getting troubles with this switch when mine has worked so well. Clean living possibly.

Excellent unit; dependable - no complications in over a year of use. Doesn't support power save on link state AFAIK, which would have been good given that my router supports that. Can't turn off or dim LEDs.

Works as expected from Netgear, good style, and low profile. Matches other netgear hubs and routers nicely. Newegg's superfast shipping got here in 2 days. Who doesn't love Newegg? With 8 cables plugged in, if the cables are running down behind the unit it could be a small light and the front may possibly lift a bit. Adjusting the cables assists this little nit-picky con.The power plug is elongated, and wouldn't fit in my tech panel, Ɠ" deep) so I had to get a outlet rotator.

Smaller, aesthetically pleasing, long lasting. Light weight. Cat cables tend to figure out it's location/orientation I've had this switch since 12񳏅 and haven't had a single malfuntion but. For a little house use device, I couldn't be happier with it.

Great, dependable switch. I haven't had any major difficulties with it. Supplies speedy transfers across my gigabit LAN. Short power interruptions can upset the device, causing it to lose connections to all attached computers. The only fix is to unplug the energy (once you have it) and wait about one minute, then plug it back in. It need to cycle by way of and do a discovery of attached devices. If you don't leave it unplugged long adequate, it won't cycle by means of. Aside from getting to power cycle it during brief power outages, I've had no complications with it. It's worth the funds I paid for it.

has a good quite white case Devices would randomly fall back from gig speed to 100/full for no reason. Replaced with GS108, and now all devices are at gig speed with no hiccups whatsoever. Funny thing is, if I plug this into the GS108 using the similar ports, it goes up to gig speed and stays there. So netgear<->netgear is OK, it was just this device -> everything else wasn't.

extremely rapidly, I had been running 10-100 and it took me about 8 minutes to copy a 4.five gig movie iso from my multimedia server box to my major pc now it takes about a minute and a half. I will admit though the machine im copying to Is very rapidly 񤃺 quad) and copying from primary machine to multimedia box is roughly half as fastas it is a slower pc (socket 939 x2 4200) so I know the hardware is what is making the distinction but I still contemplate two and a half minutes to transfer a dvd Image blazing fast compared to what im employed to with 10-100 none yet fundamentally this switch will be as quick as the hardware in your pc can run , yes the bottleneck will be hardware not your network

It's a superior dependable switch. I've utilized the comparable 5-port model in the past, and purchased this to move extra machines to gig-e. The specifications Newegg publish for this product are misleading. The product page claims that the buffer memory is 1MB. Even so, the product packaging and Netgear's own internet site make it clear that the buffer is only 128KB. I may have selected 1 of Netgear's less costly competitors if the specifications had been accurate.

Aesthetically pleasing white case style (in my opinion). I prefer the ports in the rear of the unit myself, as opposed to the rackmountable Netgear units that have the ports in the front. Extremely unreliable. I bought two of these for my (rather complex) household network, and both have been the cause for network connectivity problems. Following about a year for every single unit, the network ports wouldn't connect at GigE speeds anymore, and would transfer at most 500kB/sec even when the negotiated link speed was 100Mb.For those that don't know, GigE should transfer theoretically at about 125MB/s (if the HDD can maintain up), 100Mb at 12.5MB/s, and 10Mb at 1.25MB/s. My transfer rates had been much less than 10Mb speeds! It took a though to diagnose the dilemma. At 1st I thought it was a failed NIC, but the challenge persisted via various cards. Then I thought it may possibly be a pc problem, but pretty much each and every pc attached to the switch was having connectivity problems.I temporarily swapped out the switch to a different 1 and points were working all speedy-like once again. With two of these units getting gone bad, I can't say I will purchase a different 1, nor can I advise this unit to any individual else in very good faith. This was a massive challenge for me due to the fact my File Server was connected to this switch and I do a lot of file transfers for the work I do.

5 years now and still working very nicely. with all ports full, the cables can tug it around so it don't often sit level, but I don't genuinely care a lot about that. By way of the years it's been used as a portable fix, a daisy chained switch when I don't really feel like installing new ethernet lines, or for lan get togethers. ideal now it's a fill in for a various dead switch
