Worked great, had it given that October. It began having problems last week. Radio strength is now half of what is was. I was informed the hardware is under warranty, but tech help coverage is only 90 days. I would have to pay a minimal 40 dollars to speak with a senior tech. They will not problem an RMA with out you paying. At this point, I would rather purchase a unique brand than give them one more dime. That ends my experiment with Netgear. It's too bad they are a organization who does in my opinion have good solutions, but loses clients to shoddy consumer service and help. I will study warranties a small closer on the subsequent router I purchase.

Rapid !!! This is the fastes consumer router I ever had.I have written this assessment since I see so quite a few poeple returning this router for the USB NAS feature.Initial of all This is a ROUTER , a really very good one , IF you can get the 1..4.75na firmware which is currenlty the ideal a single.Regarding teh USB sharing, ReadyShare you want to format your HardDrive in either FAT32( for files up to four Gb) or EXT3 for files larger than four GB and speeds will be around 12-15 MB/s on a gigabit connection. I wish Firmware would be greater and forums a lot more open to user. Other than that is a great router.

impressive hardware, tailored firmware, excellent teach telephone assistance, ipv6 help, QoS assistance, USB media server, and best thing it DOES boost your world wide web speed. Works on DDRWT Most significant most significant greatest con IT HAS UNSTABLE FIRMWARE! Could be a day or a week or a couple of weeks it will suddenly lose wireless connection on all bands and from then on you will get a poor wireless signal and slow web speeds. I spoke to a tech from NETGEAR that confirmed their firmware has a challenge and they are operating on it. Appears to happen right after you change out the firmware. But that doesn't necessarily mean its because of that. Only 1 usb port. Version 1 was much better than version two of the router. 1 antenna for 5ghz bank is disabled in v2 among other items. Great router if it didn't crash and have the wireless connection issue. In my opinion for 189$ I wouldn't feel twice, I wouldn't buy it. Manufacturer Response:I apologize for the problems that you are having with the frequent drops. We have posted a new firmware version 1...8 that need to aid with your existing problem with the WNDR3700 v2. Please click on the link to download the most current version of the firmware.http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_idThank you,Netgear team

Expense efficientVery good wirless featuresAppears as access point and therefore can act as a repeaterNice construct good quality and style Does not function with VPN connectionsAcccessing information from the USB port triggered the device to hang The lack of VPN feature is a deal killer for Business use, and is pretty much a deal killer for my personal use. To this finish I reverted the router with the older 1 that I was utilizing and now I'm working with this only for WIFI; such a pity.

My prior Netgear Router was slower for certain. All computers in my network have noticed a boost in connection speed, even ones on wireless G. Looks cool.Accurate dual-band. Costly, but you get what you spend for. Slightly disappointed with the range, but not sufficient to take off an egg. it nevertheless doesn't reach a room in the second story of a 5,400 sq. ft. house.... Exactly where our Xbox is, which is even the new 1 with wireless-N. It seems to reach a little additional than my prior "long range" netgear router, but not by a lot. It appears that the signal is normally considerably stronger though.

Netgear WNDR3700 4 Port Gigabit Wireless N Dual Band Router
Cons:5 Ghz good be faster but it hasn't caused me issues either

Pros:Dual band, doesn't drop  connection, good web interface/ easy to set up, nicely designed exterior
Comment:
Great overall dual band router that is very reliable. I would caution anyone before flashing to the WNDR3800 firmware to find out what version of 3700 you have - v1,v2 or v3 as that hack doesn't work for v1 [at least that is what I have read in researching the 3800 firmware>on a 3700flash, however the upside is that v1 has apparantly got a better internal antenna system FWIW

Netgear's web interface is the cleanest and easiest to use. Visitors monitoring and media player functions can trigger the router to freeze and lock up completely. USB hard drive access is painfully SLOOOOW!!!! When you turn off the media player functions, the site visitors monitoring function and remove all USB external difficult drives, you have a extremely stable router with four various wireless networks ƒ for full use and 2 for "guest" access.)

Amazing throughput and energy. Wonderful coverage and excellent for streaming HD while surfing etc! 300 Mbps wireless is remarkable... Great DD-WRT ROUTER! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE firmware releases from Netgear! I purchased the router, set it up and allow it to download the newest version of their firmware. Big MISTAKE! My wired home network was blazing rapidly with the 1Gbps; however my wireless suffered horrible lag when accessing internet websites. I didn't have any lag with the original firmware or my linksys which this router replaced. This is documented rather properly in the Netgear forums and the business doesn't seem to listen to it's customer's complaints... Subsequent factory release firmware is scheduled Q2 of 2011 from what I have read and the forum goes although these varieties of problems via every single single firmware released from Netgear. If you're going to acquire this router I recommend going to the DD-WRT firmware for satisfaction. If you're not extremely technical you may well come across this hard; even so if you've got some technical expertise you'll love the characteristics this router and DD-WRT can give you! Forums Do your study and compare your options... I feel if you're willing to tinker this is the router for you. If you want something wireless that is going to function perfectly through the factory releases I'd believe twice just before committing and most likely go Cisco/Linksys! This router would be a 5egg rating if Netgear supported the hardware superior and would almost certainly be a 2-3egg if I didn't know what I was carrying out!

Simultaneous two.four and 5Ghz wireless N. No drop connection for three days straight. Works with DDWRT. 5Ghz signal is not that very good. I had to play about with positioning and using tin foil paper to try and direction some of the RF signal. Did end up acquiring four out of 5 bar according to win 7.Not actually certain what the benefit of 5Ghz beside the interference from several two.4Ghz device in my neighborhood. Bandwidth wise, i didn't see any improvement. Note, I use my wifi router as access point only. I have one more device that present DHCP, firewalling, etc... basically use this router for wireless only.

Dual bandUsb PortGigabit Switch Demands rebooting each day.The QOS attributes are worthless. The bandwidth meter crashes.DD-wrt and OpenWRT are not stable no matter what any person says. I bought this router based on the rave reviews. I went against just about every fiber of my becoming to purchase this router. Each and every single Netgear wireless product I have purchased more than the last 5 years has been complete garbage. I believed this time may well be diverse.... NOPE! Netgear continues to be a massive letdown. They truly released a firmware update to fix some of the problems I was getting, and then pulled it a couple of days later due to the onslaught of complaints of even much more severe difficulties surfacing. I will Never ever purchase a different Netgear wireless item again. I just returned it today. I am going to attempt my luck with Asus. Trying out a straightforward rt-n12 for now and will step up the the rt-n16 if I like it. I'd go Buffalo, but none of their present routers are stable sufficient with their dd-wrt pro firmware. Their buffalo "user friendly" firmware is stable, but worthless feature wise.

Netgear used to make great stuff cheap but now they just require to go away, remain with Linksys or Belkin

Dual BandNetgearCostPerformance I have however to see 600 mbps. I tend to stay around 300 - 400 with an "excellent" signal. You would want great conditions to even come close to the advertised 600 mbps. I purchased this for transfer speed and gaming. Paired with an N adapter I basically have my own private wirless network due to the fact the rest of my gear is nonetheless G and can't take benefit of the 5G network.five GB file more than old G wirlesss = 1 MB/sec5 GB file more than new N wireless = ten - 13 MB / secCan't complain with a 10X improvement.

Extremely pleased. This replaces my Linksys wrt54gl which I have used for years. I have a second wrt54gl which I use as a bridge with DD-WRT on it and the Netgear works excellent with it, though it doesn't show as an attached client(maybe a modify in the wrt54gl settingd would fix this?). The connection to the bridge is utilizing WPA2 Individual AES.This router is noticeably quicker than my Linksys even more than a wired connection. Can't comment on range due to the fact its only utilized over a tiny area. The USB port has handled 4 diverse flash drives and an external 500 gb drive, formatted in fat, fat32 and NTFS. A very tiny con would be you can't use this router as bridge utilizing anything but wep, but any decent second router that will accept dd-wrt ought to perform, although you need to check the dd-wrt forums. Why would you spend the additional for a second Netgear of this qualtiy for your bridge anyway?Oh, the router does take slightly longer to refresh when you apply settings than some other routers. A quite minor inconvenience unless you adjust your settings extremely, extremely usually. This router is a complete various animal than your average 50-80 dollar router. I definitely feel I got far more than my monies worth.

The very best thing about this router is it works properly correct out of the box, of course you can tweak it to your liking but just plugging it in and setting it up can get the job done. I don't have to ever mess with power cycling this because it drops out, it isn't an concern. It also runs numerous wireless gaming systems nicely with open NAT. I don't appear to get speeds as rapid as the e3000, though this is much less hassle, it also comes at a speed cost, but not a "major" 1 at that.

Setup is uncomplicated. Built in firmware updating (automated). I had it up and running in about 15 minutes into my existing and complex network. It took more than like a champ and barely breaks a sweat. Plug & Play media server for your digital stream (DLNA) so PS3, Xbox, Tv's, will all perform with it. Also very good for when buddies bring something over or want to file swap, just plug their drive into the router and you're set. No threat of infecting your PC in case of viruses. The wireless range is indeed all it's cracked up to be.Bottom line - IT'S Awesome None at all. Absolutely nothing. I have it running 24ǝ. This was an upgrade from a D-Link DIR-825 what is a great router. However, in my property I was only getting 25% signal to my front room since of it becoming an old residence. With the Netgear in the exact same location I'm obtaining 50% signal now. Genuine world test and testimonial correct here.Plus, it just looks sexy.

Excellect speed and range on both wireless bands, exceptional speed on each 10럼 and Gigabit wired net, and the capability to run multiple Xbox 360s on Xbox Live with open NATs proper out of the box with no extra configuration. Doesn't make sushi. Lights on front could be utilised to guide small aircraft for landing.

1. The hardware is almost certainly the greatest. Soon after having utilized the legendary WRT 54g for eons and eons I decided it was time to upgrade. This fits best. 2. The readyshare function is good. Amazing to use as network backup. Like a affordable NAS providing. 3. Readyshare works from outside the network! Use Dyndns and you can access your files from outside.four. The radio is insanely potent. I live in a three story residence. My router is on the second floor, tucked behind the media center and sandwiched by a wall. I get full bars upstairs and in the garage.five. N network, Gigabit.. yada yada yada... all works like it must6. No ugly antennaső. Dual band, though with no genuinely superior adapters obtainable in the industry, the point is moot. 1. The biggest con is the nonsense firmware. It's just definitely definitely poor. The UI is pathetic. It still takes me a although to figure where a specific option in.two. Dyndns blocks you due to the fact this router updates too often (considered abuse by dyndnsƝ. ReadyDLNA doesn't do squat! My Samsung Tv, Xbox or PS3, detects it, but the streaming just doesn't work. 4. Readyshare can\'t make positive of various accounts and security roles. Meaning you can't create a folder and let an individual else read just that, nothing else.5. I've had decent quantity of connection drops with the present firmware. 6. If you use VPN a lot, don't want to deal with installing dd-wrt, DO NOT get this router. Just about every time I VPN in to function an remote desktop, it disconnects. You definitely just have to use DD-WRT with this. It's not unusable without having it, but if you will need to use VPN a lot, get one thing else or be prepared to install dd-wrt. The cause I give it 4Ǜ eggs in spite of it's follies is due to the fact the h/w is that very good. It's potent as hell. I just wish the firmware was half as very good.

Looks nice, has excellent WAN transfer rate. The setup comes with a "Resource CD" which you pop in your personal computer for an really uncomplicated setup that includes developing your wireless network name and password. Would arbitrarily drop my wired net connection. (tested modem and concluded it was definetly the router) Named Netgear Tech Support and they stated the connectivity drops are a known problem, told me to return the unit. (No joke) The wireless range seemed to be poor but this could also be due to the number of walls in my house/the placement of the unit.

Easy setup.Several wireless networks.Great Good quality Of Service implementation.Totally supports IPv6.Advanced internet interface.USB support.Built in FTP server support. Nothing. Its faster than my pc from .Doesn't come with a Voodoo graphics card. Update the firmware. The update consists of some fairly essential attributes like IPv6 and some QOS fixes. For all the gamers out there, turn on the QOS feature and commence adding your game ports to the list. With your games at high priority and your upload rate restricted correctly, lag spikes due to high bandwidth applications will be rare. When 1 of the open router firmwares fully supports the device I suggested patching in the open version. With open firmware and a powered USB port expander this could turn into an incredible low expense server. For any individual that runs wireless only in their property, they really should like the built in antenna. The range is regular for the price. With tweaking you could get 50m out of it reliably. If your on windows wireless and play on the web games, get a program named "Wireless Optimizer"; it will eliminate a lot of network hiccups caused by windows.Purchase the router. It's a device that can stop households from breaking. No more screaming "STOP STREAMING 10 YOUTUBE VIDEOS".
