One particular of the handful of 802.11n adapters that actually operates in the 5Ghz band. Challenging to discover anything to complain about -- the largish size of the dongle, perhaps? Purchased this with the WNDR3700 simply because I wanted to be able to have a mixed two.fourǛ GHz network. Works like a charm, even though two rooms more than it has difficulty choosing up the 5Ghz signal. But that's likely not unexpected.

Straightforward install as soon as you download the windows7 software from netgear.com. I upgraded my router from linksys wrt54g to netgear WNDR3700 two weeks ago. I averaged 16-19 Mbps download. I installed the WNDA3100v2 today and now I am averaging 20-23 Mbps download. The speed boost is very noticeable. The usb connection was a little bit rough to get in, but it functions.

Netgear product Not compatible with 64-bit Windows 7!!!! Genuinely???? Netgear dropped the ball huge time on this a single. No drivers are offered. I even tried the drivers from the v1. A single set even crashed my machine. There is absolutely no excuse for this. The majority of new machines that run Windows 7, are running 4GB or additional of RAM and can't use 32-bit anyway. It even has the Windows 7 logo on the side of the box. NETGEAR, Repair THIS, prior to you loose a loyal customer. By the way the WNDR3700 is awesome. Now get me some drivers for the adapter so I can use the wireless.

Ok got this a few days ago and Newegg sent me a Version2 card. This factor was easy to install and operates best paired with a WNDR3700. Don't let the poor critiques fool you, this point is rock solid with good reception. None so far I'm finding 300 Mbps with this issue and it's quite configurable.

Straightforward installation and great speed Continuously drops or loses connection to my network or the internet. To reconnect to the internet necessary removing the adapter from the laptop and reinserting into the USB port. Immediately after spending practically a month researching the dropped network connections and spending an hour with Netgear's telephone support, I lastly figured out what was wrong. In Device Manager, choose Network Adapters and appropriate click the WNDA3100v2 adapter. Pick Properties. Click the Advanced tab. Scroll down underneath Property: and choose "Wake-Up Mode". Click "All" underneath the Value: column and then click OK. I couldn't figure out why I would have a good connection one minute and leave the personal computer, only to come back some time later and not have online anymore. The Netgear rep told me not to use the Wise Wizard software and rather go with Vista's Network settings. But I nonetheless lost connections. It was then that I believed it must be some thing to do with the driver if each the Intelligent Wizard and Network Sharing Center had been possessing the identical problems. After some trial and error, I managed to connect to the internet and haven't lost the connection considering that.

i purchased a recertified unit from newegg. newegg continues to impress me. rapidly, friendly, excelent price what else can i say, i'm a fan. netgear on the other hand is impossible! at least their tech assistance. they want a serial number nicely recert units don't have one particular, they are blacked out. that is exactly where my frustration began. unless you delight in banging your head against the wall, keep away from netgear.

Wonderful range for 2.4 GHz, but adapter fails to connect to any 5GHz wireless network Will not discover 5GHz wireless SSID's. I spent Ӯ hours on the phone with tech assistance and it was an absolute waste of time. I upgraded to the newest driver that they advised till lastly they wanted to have it sent back for RMA. I took my loss and ordered a Linksys Wifi USB dongle with dual band ( which surprisingly was ฽ cheaper). Not extremely happy with Netgear buyer assistance, nor the item itself. The Linksys/Cisco is a more respected firm, so hopefully it will solve my complications.Would not advocate acquiring this item, particularly when you can get the Linksys/Cisco model for ฽ more affordable.

functions on each 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies. purchased it refurbished from newegg for inexpensive! In my property it did not choose up a extremely robust signal and the speeds were sub-par, commonly only around 116Mbps. My other Negear adapter functions much far better (WN511B), gets a substantially greater signal from the exact same spot in my house using the very same laptop, and the usb is often coming out of its slot if you take place to bump it. i would recommend the Netgear WN511B adapter more than this one even even though this is is dual band, i get much better range, signal, and speed with my WN511B all other items being equal.

Hooked up fantastic with my Netgear NETGEAR WNR3500-100NAS router. I employed the manual setup as it was a replacement. The driver installed no complications on Win XP Pro I bought a number of dongles. They do function as advertised on speed, but a lot more than a couple will lead to dropped packets. I referred to as Netgear, was advised to crank the router down to 'neighbor friendly' mode 150 Mbs. Finish of that issue. The true concern with these is flimsy engineering. For the cost they get, these need to be armored, LOL. They aren't. The USB spade is a tight fit, and customers will WIGGLE the dongle. The only engineering help for the USB spade is two thru-soldered tabs. The device case is a snap-apart clamshell that is not in fact attached to the PCB. The PCB rests inside on formed supports. The case is held closed ONLY by the tape of the Item Info label on a single side and Serial quantity/MAC tag on the other side.Net outcome of Top quality Engineering? NO RESISTANCE to torsional forces. DO NOT WIGGLE THIS DONGLE! I speak from experience - sadly - 2 out of four deado. Not a pleased camper. I bought these one particular one particular of my other NewEgg business accounts. If you are going to give this to roadies, get a couple of the reconditioned ones provided on NewEgg, Uninstall any old Netgear Wi-fi drivers ahead of installing new software program id you are upgrading.

Dual band... I guess? Continually dropped signalHad to reboot laptop or computer to reconnect...every single time....Had to use the Netgear software just to get it to performThe holder wasnt produced adequately so I had to leave it laying on my desk not up in the air where I would have superior signal I applied this for about 4 days before I lastly purchased a PCI Express card from D Link, It would drop signal up tp 6 occasions a day and needed me to reboot the computer to be in a position to use internet once again for some reason. The small plastic holder you use to velcro it up high wasn't produced effectively so it wouldn't sit in flush, which caused it to not plug in all the way. That meant I had to let it lay on my desk and get even worse signal. It only got in between 25 and 54 mbps and sat around 30% signal. Granted I'm a floor down and a couple rooms over with incredibly thick plaster walls but the D Link PCI card get practically 60% signal and 130 mbps and it's sticking out the back of the personal computer pointed into a corner facing away from the router. Perhaps I just got a negative one, but I did a lot of analysis on this ahead of I got it and noticed a lot of people have had troubles with it also. I was hoping I would get lucky and get a superior one, no such luck.

First and foremost, reading critiques here at Newegg, I double checked the software program against the most up-to-date version. In my case, my installation disc was up to the latest version. Instruction are clear and easy to adhere to. Installed on a Windows XP Pro 32-bit and Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Installed computer software initially, then install the adapter. Funny, in my world when I see "this will take a minute or two" I typically see it take a couple of seconds. But not here. When looking for router, let the adapter search and be patient. USB cable is a excellent length. Once connected, adapter was on-line and operating very nicely. I had a massive headache with a earlier wireless adapter with no resolution. This 1 now gets me 273Mbps so the signal strength is excellent. Packaging was great from NetGear. So far working nicely. Little carriage (which is included) is ideal for setting the adapter in, let's say attaching it to the side of your monitor. Modest particulars, the cap to safeguard the adapter has no where to be stowed. If you do not want to shed the cap, then place it in the same box the adapter came with for storage. But still, it would be a nice to be able to attach the cap to the other end of the adapter when in use. Similar as the router, no manual to explain what the diverse colored lights signify. Even so, you can download them from NetGear, but it could have been added with the item. This is just an initial evaluation, I will make every try to have a adhere to up review in 8 months on how properly this item has been operating. I will be operating as considerably as attainable to see how this item reacts and if there are any performance alterations. Will be subjecting the product to hot room environments as nicely as cold temps and some other tesing. At this time, this product has left me with a positive note. But as mentioned I will review this once again in 8 months for everyone to read.

Compact design, simple installation, dual band capability, connection speed. Poor computer software and worthless drivers. The WNDA3100 was bought along with a WNDR 3300 to replace an older Netgear router/adapter setup. The WNDR3300 seems to function great with all of the advertised capabilities. Unfortunately, the WNDA3100 refuses to stay connected even following updates to the most recent adapter drivers and firmware on the router. An older Netgear adapter, 3 Intel adapters and all the wired connections operate fine. I have tried this adapter on every single system with the similar outcomes, constant connection drops. This is a draft technologies device so some concerns were anticipated but not the inability to remain connected to a router from the same business. Adhere to the advise above and wait for new drivers to be released before purchasing.

This is a wonderful wireless adapter. I've by no means dropped a connection on the personal computer I put this on. It's on the opposite side of the house than the router and nevertheless keeps a superior solid connection at high speeds. Their setup software could be way superior, but it's not that massive of a deal.

- When it works, it's OK.- It's affordable One of the Adapters stopped operating nowadays (after just 1 day of use), the other 1 is working so far... I let it sit to cool down and tried it immediately after 2 hours and it works once more. Also the range is not all that good, my Belkin 802.11g USB adapter had a lot better range and a lot older adapter. I purchased two of these to connect to my WNDR3700, and to install on Windows 7 64 bit. The installation is a bit tricky, soon after really a bit of search on Netgear forums, I found out that the best way to install these would be through "Safe Mode w/ Networking", it seems something on my system was conflicting with the installation program, I even installed as soon as, backed up the folder into a different location, uninstalled. Then I decided to just put the USB stick and point to the driver location and it installed proper away but the device was disabled all the time, and enabling it would get disabled... so safe mode with networking did the trick. One of the USB adapters stopped working right now (it was incredibly hot), but works now right after two-three hours... it's hit or miss, actually. If you seriously want to try this out, buy 2, just in case!

Software program Wizard is simple to follow and get's the unit up and running rapidly, uninstall feature works properly also. Really poor range, I paired this with the WNR3500 Gigabyte router and the WNDA3100 adapter is out performed by my built in Atheros 802.11G receiver in my notebook. Bottom line on all USB adapters is poor antenna performance, so lengthy as you are close to the transmitter they perform properly.

Amazing range!! High speed connection. Effortless install. Have to install windows update to get full functionality. The drivers for this thing work fine if you are surfing the net. Gaming I would lose connection every single 30 like other people have said. That challenge is fully fix with a windows update. Now the adapter works flawlessly. My household network data transfer rates have a lot more than doubled and the range is far greater than other link sys, net gear, and d link adapters I have utilised. I am going to purchase a second 1 soon!

Compact wireless by way of USB. Incredibly non-intuitive software program that doesn't let you essentially use the product. The GUI that is used to connect to the WNDA3100 is abysmal. As soon as you've installed the software, you'd feel it would be as basic as scanning for networks, connecting to a network, and saving the settings as a profile. WRONG. Clicking an "Apply" button following picking your pre-configured profile pops up a window that says "Validate Settings"... followed by no connection to the network, even although it can be observed with 94% signal strength. The software looks to be done in Adobe Flash, complete with fade-in and fade-out effects, so everything takes a long time to get started or complete. In fact, attempting to run the latest software package (v1.3 as of June two, 2008) resulted in a BSOD on my laptop. That could have been due to low memory, but it shouldn't require that significantly energy to connect to it in the initial location. At this point, I may well sell the WNDA3100, take a slight loss and acquire a unique wireless adapter rather.

This thing is a fantastic addition to a wireless network. When I got this, this was definitely the only existing adapter that allowed 5GHz N on the market place. I use Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit and I did not have to download any new drivers. I installed the software that came with it and that was it. I don't even use the software program for this anymore, I just use Window's wireless network browsing to connect and discover new networks. I have a terrible apartment when it comes to wireless signals and the 5GHz connectivity was only 3Ǜ bars even so it was solid like its supposed to be; no dropped connections and decent speeds, again terrible apartment so speeds had been down some. All bands on the two.4GHz radio were quite very good although. I do not have any numbers on the actual speeds but if you just want to make an existing computer 5GHz enabled, then this unit is perfect. I had no challenge with gaming working with this adapter either. There is 1 issue I had with this adapter, and that is that the velcro pad that it comes with does not stay stuck quite well. I stuck it to the leading of my monitor like the example in the instructions and only immediately after about a day, the adhesive came undone and the adapter fell from my monitor onto my desk. So be careful of that, in fact if you're wanting to be able to hang it from somewhere and use the cradle it comes with, put some glue on the adhesive just before you stick the velcro pad somewhere, or else it WILL fall off of what you stuck it to. I saw these bad reviews and I really do not feel these folks knew how to use this product, or they had a poor unit, so I had to post my success story. Remember, this factor is a wireless adapter, DO NOT PUT METAL Among THE ADAPTER AND THE ROUTER, METAL BLOCKS WIRELESS SIGNALS Practically Totally, as in if your router is to the correct of your pc case, also put your adapter to the appropriate of your case. My guess is these negative reviewers had it in locations exactly where wireless connections were pretty much impossible and expected this adapter to function a miracle.
