Value is inexpensive. Comes with all the cables. It worked on my Dell Optiplex G1 Pentium III 500Mhz 512MB Ram. Bought a pair of these to work with a pair of 1TB Hitachi Drives. Employed on Windows 2003. The molar power adapter plugs broke on me, 2 out of the 4 pins fell out. The proper drivers are not on CD, had to download them from By means of web site VT6421 (VT6410) drivers on the internet site. Took me 2 days to figure out the controller was not renegotiating the SATA II downgrade to SATA I with my Hitachi SATA II 1TB drive. Luckily my drive had a SATA I jumper. When the Rosewill controller and Hard Drive could not renegotiate down from SATA II to SATA I the operation was erratic, sometimes it boot up and detected, then most instances it did not. When I figured out it was the SATA I jumper of the Difficult Drive, it lastly worked. Hope it last, Data is worth a million. I purchased 2 of these, so good sample size.

Comment:
Functions fantastic, as advertised. I wanted a replacement for a dying IDE controller on the mobo of an old dell dimension 8110 that was constantly reverting to PIO mode and this worked a treat. Just plugged in, booted, installed drivers off of floppy (XP), shutdown, plugged IDE HD into the board and rebooted. Press F1 to continue boot off of chosen HD in device's boot screen and that was it, accomplished! No jumper configs needed. Included install manual and directions in the card's boot screen are a hopeless jumble of horribly written Engrish. If you are not familiar with installation of this sort of point and are attempting to do a thing like a RAID setup, you'll most likely be lost if the manual is the only issue you have to go by. Just a note about utilizing Mastercard with Securecode on Newegg - I got to the final stage of producing this acquire when I changed my mind and DIDN'T enter my MC Securecode due to the fact I thought I'd chosen the incorrect model, and even though the order showed up as becoming canceled in my account (which a reside tech confirmed), it went by way of anyway! Luckily the RC-212 worked, so anything's fine, but be cautious if you are employing this identical buy system.

Priced properIDE interfaceSimple installation (Windows XP) Can only have two SATA ports active at after I purchased this for my older Pc which only supports IDE drives, because I wanted to add a lot more storage using an SATA drive. I was not interested in RAID, just necessary a simple SATA controller which also offered assistance for a different IDE drive I have. installation was incredibly easy...set up card into open PCI slot, powered up Computer, then installed drivers from supplied CD, then rebooted. It right away detected the Western Digital 750GB Black Caviar disk and the IDE drive attached to it. I proceeded to format/partition the SATA drive and it works completely as does the IDE drive that is also attached to it.

Lots of benefits for the price tag; 2 Sata 1.five's and an additional IDE! Its also genuinely great to have two eSATA ports. Haven't necessary it but, but new flash drives and challenging drives are starting to use eSATA, so I have it when it comes. Top rated notch card! Wish it was at least SATA three, but it performs wonderful, you don't actually need to have that much speed, and you cannot complain for the value. I needed it for a Blu-Ray drive, and it performs good. You can boot from it if your making use of it for a Hard Drive. Comes with a floppy so you can set up 3rd party RAID drivers for the duration of Windows install.

I've been employing this for a year now to help a DVD drive and a difficult drive. This thing operates flawlessly. I love it and it has permitted me to expand my drive capacity beyond what my motherboard allowed. Could usually use a few much more SATA ports. I would purchase this once again in a heartbeat.

* Worked on Windows Server 08, XP. Required drivers.* 1 TB help... with the appropriate motherboard. Was really frustrated when TB array wasn't becoming detected on old motherboard.* Low cost RAID without spending lots of funds. * "FAKE" RAID... needs drivers to perform. * Doesn't operate on Linux (Ubuntu) .. my RAID 1 ƒx 1 TB) shows up as two distinct disks. (my fault for not reading the specs)* Doesn't detect/work on some motherboards. Good for affordable RAID or adding SATA ports to a non-SATA motherboard.Hasn't failed on me so far. All round happy.Purchased 4Ǟ񳏈.

Comment:
The controller is cheap, solidly constructed, and gives a very good range of connectivity selections for any individual hunting to add a difficult drive controller or connect older legacy hardware.I got this for the major goal of connection older legacy hard discs from time to time and 1 old DVD drive and an occasional temporary SATA challenging drive. For my purposes this card functions great and is an superb deal. For others taking into consideration this controller card (and any other controllers) verify the pros and cons of the specs meticulously as discussed in my cons and 'other thoughts.' As with adding any external controller/additional hardware to a process it will slow down the start up. This variety of legacy controller on a newer process will slow down the begin up significantly. My principal reputable complain with this PCI card if the position of the PATA port. For me it would have been far better to position it to the side rather than have it facing down. This prevents my from making use of the PCI slot under this card.To continue the complaint... if it had to face down... they need to have to rotate is 180 degrees. The IDE cable when plugged in runs toward the PCI slot and the motherboard rather than away from the motherboard. This makes it harder to use the neater rounded IDE cables, which are thicker and less versatile near the base. A PCI card is not a high bandwidth information connection. The a lot more connected to this... the slower every thing will run. If you are searching for speed/performance you need to have a PCI express or a PCI express x4 connection. A traditional PCI slot limits data transfer amongst the controller and the motherboard to 133 MB/s, regardless of the SATA connection speed of the tough drive to the controller. If you just want a PATA port matches the PCI speed and will work wonderful. If you are like me and just want to connect legacy hardware and give your method much more connectivity flexibility, even though nevertheless being low cost, this is a fantastic selection. As others have mentioned. The back connectors are SATA and not eSATA and there are physical jumpers on the card. Only two SATA ports will perform and you have to pick regardless of whether you want internal or external. This was essentially a great low cost way to add flexibility, but if you are searching for 4 operable ports, eSATA ports, or quicker SATA you need to commit much more for an additional controller

It worked excellent, I installed it, installed the driver and it recognized the hard drive that I was hooking up. I saved the time it would take to RMA a SATA drive and obtain an IDE drive. Doesn't run as rapidly as having SATA drive on motherboard.

Worked completely for my purposes. Flashed a BenQ. With Vista 32 I just popped it in and booted my personal computer. Nothing additional to it. None that I can think of. I wish there was a USB adapter or some thing so I didn't have to swap out my sound card just about every time I want to use this card.

None Very inexpensive power connectors. The connectors would not hold the terminals steady so insertion was not possible. When I ultimately inserted the connector all the terminals popped out. Wasn't able to reinsert them due to damage. Why try to conserve a penny (or much less) on a low cost connector that renders the product useless?

Did precisely what it was supposed to do. Windows 7 plug and play. Have attempted flashing from the external ports but really should operate fine just have to disable the internal ports and enable the external. None. I utilized to be able to flash from my motherboard SATA but now it's fully filled up with raided drives and I didn't want to unplug all that. A low-cost and solid solution which is much less hassle compared to the trouble it took to get it working with my onboard SATA.

I have an old server running Ubuntu 6.06LTS. Considering that I will need far more HD storage and this computer system has no SATA slots, I decided to try this card. I had two older PATA drives that I connected to the port on this card, and 1 new SATA Samsung 1TB drive that I connected to SATA port. All had been recognized by the kernel, and worked good after all the ideal mount selections (the new drives appear as SCSI drives). I very recommend this card for any individual running Linux (at least some new kernel) and in will need for additional SATA ports. none really, it worked right away.

* Flexible design gives you great options to either connect challenging disks inside your box or connect it to an external harddisk/raid.* Operates flawlessly when connected to a harddisk/RAID I had problems when it was connected to a SATA DVD. For instance, I was not able to boot a Dell Windows 7 DVD when the DVD drive was connected to the Controller card. But I was in a position to do so when the DVD drive was directly connected to one of the computers' internal SATA ports.

Works excellent if you don't have a SATA connection from your motherboard. I also used it to flash my 360's Optical Drive. none If you're making use of this for the exact same reason as most of us, make sure you read up about your drive, some of the newer drives require you to get additional components "Connectivity Kits".

(regarding external eSata drives) ...it performs...if you are prepared to spend added for a particular sata to esata cable or install a 2-port esata adapter bracket which requires up a different slop in the back of your computer. why in h*** woud you develop an eSata card and use standard internal sata connectors for the external ports? Rosewill may well want to take into account drug testing their hardware designers, engineers, and QA/QC teams before moving to full production

Installed ok Purchased this card to add sata ports to a 10 year old comp. Cloned a 500gb sata hd but I could not boot from the sata hd. Tech support informed me I could not boot from the cloned hd that I would will need to do a fresh windows installation and go thru the long procedure or acquire the Rosewill RC217 which would boot from ths sata by changing jumpers. I did not know this when I purchased the card.

-Cost-Many ports - two Internals or two Externals-PATA / SATA Support Combined -At the moment unable to get SATA 3GB drives to function on card. Tried jumpering drives to 150 and also updating drivers. Waiting for new card replacement to confirm.-Also not capable to get a lot more than two SATA 150 drives operating on card. Again looks to be a card difficulty as drives perform on USB Adapter.-External connectors do not line up properly with enclosure. As well close to the edge of card. Looks like great card for the cost. Will update critique when I get the replacement.

Then come to discover out it had two labels on it with USPS and UPS). None This is the appropriate card for flashing a 360 drive. I utilized the SATA plug closest to the front of the tower. The plug is on the side of the card, so there's nothing in your way.
