These coolers have a significant copper and aluminum heat sink. The fans are also large and move alot of air. They are quiet which is a wonderful plus. They have holes drilled in the copper base for ventilation all the way down to the die. Its such a modest space between the chip and the bottom of the copper that I don't know how considerably additional performance it gives the cooler though. As stated in a few other critiques, you have to take away the fan to install this HS appropriately. The spring clip is a bit under created. I feel as though I should say that when I first installed these into my project system that I got 1 installed incorrectly. I removed the fan and when I picked the block up I dropped it and the clip fell out. When I put the clip back in I got the orientation wrong. This lead to the copper base getting installed as well far back and let the HS tilt away from the die. The machine shut down off program for more than temperature on one CPU. The screwdriver cease on both clips broke on mine. If I had installed these with the motherboard in the situation this may possibly have been a terrible thing with a little piece of metal floating around in the case. So to sum it up:This is a fantastic cooler. Just make certain the copper base has the significant gap to the side that says "Socket 462" on the actual CPU socket, and that the spring clip also has the screwdriver cease on that very same side. When you re-install the fan. DONT Over TIGHTEN the fan mount to the cooler. This causes the outside ring to warp and the fan blades will hit it. Trust me :-)I put these into a MSI KD7 Master motherboard operating two Athlon 2600 MP's it required alittle bit of modification to make them match, but I was expecting that. I wanted to raise the issue from the dead. It has 2 gig of DDR3200 a PowerColor Radeon 3850 AGP card. A couple of 20 gig leftover drives in a Silicon Image raid0 array. It runs Vista Ultimate just fine. Its a good tiny workhorse.

I've owned this Heatsink for about two months and It keeps my amd athlon xp 3000+ at 65 degrees C or decrease. The heatsink I had before registered temps about 75 degrees C in the course of idle, and even underclocked from 2.1 ghz to 1.7ghz, the temps nevertheless stayed about 65. With this heatsink, I can run the cpu complete speed with no the temp going larger than 65 (which I believe is an inaccurate reading from the board.) The heatsink is a bit awkward to mount on the board, the clip is on the inside of the bracket which makes it much more complicated. You can remedy this by removing the fan from the heatsink very first, then mounting the fan following you have it attached to the board. My CPU Temp likes to hover among 60 and 65 degrees C, but just about in no way goes more than 65. I'm not sure how people get such low temps with these heatsinks as I've tried mounting and remounting on my cpu a number of occasions, acquiring equivalent results each and every time. Even so I think the temp to be inaccurate for my board, and not the fault of this superb Heatsink/Fan combo. My Motherboard - Soyo Kt 600 Dragon Ultra PlatinumMy CPU - AMD Athlon XP 3000+Newegg had this to me in three Days. Newegg is the ONLY spot I shop. You can't beat the amazing costs, Quickly shipping, Big choice and the superb high quality Consumer help that only Newegg has.

The heatsink is oversized, aluminum with copper base; transfers heat nicely with Arctic Silver 5. Really quiet fan, runs at 2260 to 2310 rpm. The oversized fan does not seem to blow air by means of the heatsink, but rather surrounds it with hot air. It does not produce great airflow via the radiator fins of the heatsink. Utilized this on each an Athlon XP 2500+ Barton 333fsb & Athlon XP 3200+ Barton 400fsb. Cooler & quieter than stock AMD fan/heatsink ࿜mm 5000 rpm - approximately). Replaced the Rosewill fan with a single from a Thermaltake TR2-M3 which has an practically identical heatsink and the Thermaltake fan did significantly far better cooling with no audible noise level distinction. Thermaltake fan is 80x80x25 & 2500 to 2600 rpm. The Thermaltake TR2-M3 is at the moment utilized on a Sempron 3000+ Barton 333fsb. Going to swap the Rosewill fan with an Antec 80x80x25 2600 rpm case fan for the Athlon XP 2500+ & buy (from Newegg) the Thermaltake TT-8025A-2B 80x80x25 2900 rpm for the Athlon XP 3200+.

On an Athlon XP-M Barton @ 2.0GHz 1.65v actual Vcore (according to speedfan)So far it's running a handful of degrees colder than my old hsf (which was 60mm aluminum-only), but then this 1 isn't dusty yet so they may finish up related in the lengthy run. It's challenging to be confident of the actual distinction, simply because my old fan was operating hot enough to trigger full speed under load, even though this 1 is just cold adequate to keep at decreased speed/voltage (per my BIOS settings). The 92mm fan doesn't have to spin really rapid, so it's quite quiet. That was the objective so I'm pleased. Clamp is tighter than other folks I've used. It's the initial time in a even though that I've been worried about breaking the mounting clips, but it went on fine. Just be careful and give your self elbow room to be positive you position the clip effectively prior to releasing it.The screw factors for the fan appear to be suitable for an 80mm fan, not 92mm. If you want to replace the fan you probably won't uncover a 92mm that fits like the original, you'll have to swap to an 80mm. I'm using an ABit AN7, which is 1 of their initial boards with the "uGuru" hardware monitoring chip. Earlier reviewers have said the fan didn't work on their ABit boards, so I half anticipated to get the same challenge but I didn't - it operates fine for me.When buying, I didn't uncover info for what this hsf weighs, so for any individual curious right here's the info:Fresh out of the box, heatsink with fan attached weighs 354g. Heatsink alone weighs 288g.If I'm not mistaken, AMD spec is 300g max supported by the clip. But torque is the genuine concern and the copper base almost certainly puts center of mass reduced than regular, so torque could not be any worse than AMD spec heatsinks. It's not overweight by also substantially anyway so I'm not worried about it.

Purchased this cooler to replace a suspected faulty/failed oem hsf that was on my wife's Athlon XP 2900+ process. (Not a typo, is an OEM cpu created by AMD exclusively for SystemMax back in the day).Paired this cooler on a Gigabyte GA-7N400-L mobo. Idle temps are around 57C and beneath load peaks aroudn 67C.Very pleased. Was possessing challenges with old oem cooler getting the Computer shut off due to thermal protection kicking in. With this cooler, machine runs fine below total cpu load.Noticeably quieter than old faile hsf I was making use of.This prolonged my wife's Computer's life a little longer and can let me put off upgrading her Pc for hopefully a tiny a lot more time. I Really hate trying to place on Socket A coolers employing a screwdriver and the huge meathooks that pass for my fingers. I wanted to initally purchase a Zalman CNPS7000 series but immediately after checking Zalman's website they listed the cooler as incompatible with the Gigabyte board I had. Was skeptical of this cooler.Extremely glad it worked and cost was quite very good and newegg got it here quicly.

Fan has fantastic specs and appears to be a good worth. Jury is still out on efficiency - see under. Installation is not too huge of a deal, just go ahead and take away the fan from the heatsink and get your energy supply or what ever else out of the way ahead of time to conserve yourself the prospective hassle of re-mounting. Somebody above mentioned that they had problems with Abit motherboards and I am possessing the similar dilemma on my AN7. The technique comes on, alarms, and shuts down. I am nonetheless researching methods to troubleshoot. If a person from Rosewill could respond (as they did above) with the resolution of this difficulty, it would be great for future consumers. It would have been great to plug and play to resolve my Computer's overheating difficulties. As other reviewers have pointed out, the fan and heatsink are substantial - so as I talked about earlier, go ahead and eliminate your energy supply and take the fan off the heatsink so anything is out of the way when you set up. Removing these handful of added screws will save you the difficulty of attempting and retrying to fit the assembly and your fingers into tight quarters. When I did that, installation was not challenging. Nonetheless, obviously the fan does not agree with my motherboard/settings. This is NOT a rapid fix for overheating on Abit Socket A motherboards. Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Buyer,We are sorry for the inconvenience this could have brought on you. We attempt to give the most trustworthy goods to our prospects. The challenge you are obtaining might be caused by the heatsink not generating total get in touch with with the CPU. Significantly quieter than any of my preceding socket A heat sink fans. Even when the fan was spinning. Fan didn't want to spin up initially. A tiny squeezing of the fan's outer circular shell permitted the fan to finally spin up. A blade must have been stuck against the wall of the fan. I'm satisfied about the reality that my challenging drives are now the loudest element of the process, but I'm going to want to watch the fan for a bit, just to make confident that the difficulty was a transient a single. So far, I'd be prepared to buy this item once more (and just may well, to quiet down my final remaining socket A based system).

Silent as a ghost. If there is a different brand of Socket A fan that is quieter, it’s likely not running. Superb cooling capacity. My Barton 3000+ never ever sees much more than 60deg C, and Barton is one particular hot processor. To borrow a renowned ad line from Lee Iacocca…If you can locate a better Socket A fan, acquire it. Zero. Period. These who complain about its size should buy a 60 in. fan that whirs at a steady 5000 rpm. The only time the Z100 fan frame comes in the way is when the case has a foldout motherboard platform. When packing it back into the case, the north tip of the Z100 frame hits the Pc chassis upper edge that secures the platform. Even that can be overcome by pressing down firmly on the fan’s upper circumference tip enabling it to slide under. For these who complain about the difficulty in putting in the fan…the Socket A is an older model bracket. You just will need a steady hand, a narrow screwdriver blade that fits into the niche, and some practice. As lengthy as you take the motherboard out of the case when installing, the fan virtually installs itself. Those who nevertheless complain are going to complain no matter what. With some of us, it is in our nature. I have 5 Socket A PCs, and each and every a single has a Rosewill RCX-Z100 CPU fan. The cost and good quality can’t be beaten. And the customer service is AAA+++. 1 of my Rosewill fans had a wire come out of the three-pin sleeve, which prevented the monitoring of fan speed. One particular e-mail to Rosewill, and they had NewEgg ship out a new fan to me…and didn’t even ask me to return the old one. Now, if Rosewill tends to make a Pc item (PSUs, USB/Wireless adapters) I don’t even appear at the other brands.

Just a great Quiet Fan. Moves lots of air. Decent Heatsink. Instalation is a bit tricky. If you take away the fan from the heatsink for instalation, dont more than tighten the screws as that will generaly skew the fan and trigger it to make additional noise. Screws may well need some adjustment although it is running. Whoever came up with the way these points attach to the socket, really should be dragged out into the street and shot.

For the value, a really really quiet and functional item. It solved my issue of frequent CPU overheat shutdowns. The low noise level was an unexpected plus. The preinstalled thermal grease saved a trip (an a dollar or two) to a computer system shop. Delivery time was brief. They ought to have shipped it just as soon as the order was received. After reading online comments I knew to examine for sufficient space (it is significant, due to its oversize, but low speed fan), that you actually ought to get rid of the fan initial to ease installation, and to use a skinny screwdriver to hook the tie-down bracket in spot (it doesn't have a lever as most do). It would aid if there was an instruction sheet that pointed out the tiny u-shaped tab that a screwdriver fits into.

Quiet, moves a lot of air for cooling. Good look (when the cover's off anyway) The force to install the clip is rather high. Due to the low speed of the fan, I had a tiny difficulty. Following putting in, upon boot the BIOS was sending an alarm. What the heck? Turns out the BIOS on this unique M/B had a minimum speed for the CPU fan of 2000rpm. The fan was fluctuating (BIOS indicated) in between about 1950 and 2100. When the speed dropped beneath 2000 the alarm was set off. Had to deactivate this in the BIOS for sanity's sake. lolAs others have talked about, take the fan off of the heatsink before you go any additional. I actually purchased two of these. On 1 machine (due to the angles) I had to eliminate the fan AND the power provide, then reinstall the PSU and then the fan. A bit of a discomfort but not a big deal. On the other m/b I had to take away the RAM as the mounting clip was on that side rather than the PSU side.

Low-cost, quiet, sturdy, speedy delivery. Dang issue is massive! Bought this to replace my stock 60mm cooler for my ol' XP3200. It just fits, snug as a bug in a rug. Took a small undertaking, though. In order to spot it, I had to move my PSU out of the way, and in order to reset the PSU, I had to detach the fan from the heatsink to get almost everything to fit. Installation was kind of a discomfort, but this was due to my modest situation size. Anyway, it's quiet and all appears nicely!

Properly I have to say, this is an wonderful cooler. It blows my old 5500rpm hair dryer of a cooling fan out of the water. It's fairly cool that at only 2200rpm, the idle temps on my XP 2600+ went from 43c to about 35c, and from 50c to only 42c on complete load. I can now overclock this dinosaur and retain it operating great. Now when I come into my room, I have to examine to make positive the laptop or computer is in fact running, it's practically silent now. Plus, this cooler looks pretty sweet via my clear side panel with blue lighting. The only undesirable thing with this fan is that it's huge, I guess that's also superior, but installing it was a pain. Thankfully I didn't have to take away the fan from the heatsink, but it was a tight squeeze and I had to eliminate the ATX power cable and memory. It also took quite a considerable amount of force to clamp it down into location, I was nearly afraid of cracking the motherboard. But all is well. Good cost. Aside from the installation, which is typically tough with all socket A boards, I benefited complete circle. It's incredibly quiet, and my CPU is alot cooler. This is also my first Rosewill product and will most definitely be buying once more.

Cools effectively. My temps are not noticeably various from old cooler but my old cooler cooled fine. I bought this Rosewill cooler to quiet my method a bit, and that objective is met; the slower fan speed makes it quieter than my old cooler. Weird difficulty with clip induced some extra operate and some be concerned. See explanation below Other thoughts. I would give it a five-star rating except for a single reality. I had some difficulty trying to get the heatsink clip attached to the CPU socket; I was applying more pressure than I was comfortable with - it was worrisome. I stopped, pulled it off the processor, removed the clip from the heatsink and examined it. It was slightly twisted; if I laid the clip on a flat surface, the two ends would each make complete contact with the surface due to the twist in the mid-section of the clip. That's what was creating my try to install it difficult. That's what was making my attempt to install it difficult. I took twp pair of pliers and straightened the clip, i.e. corrected the twist, and then reinstalled it devoid of additional problems.

Fairly simple to install, incredibly quiet, and does cool far better than the old stock cooler. Just installed on my old Athlon 64 2800+ and upon boot-up, initial temps were 8 degrees cooler. Typically registers 60 when I 1st commence it up, this HSF brought it down to 52. Have to reiterate, it is extremely quiet. Ran a swift benchmark to see how it handled beneath load, not bad. That 8 degree drop stayed pretty constant compared to load temps with the old HSF. Idle didn't get all the way back down to 52 although, hung out around 54. Not as huge as a distinction as I was hoping for. I should account some of this for poor airflow by means of the case, but nonetheless, I was not wowed. Was kinda expecting to see some temps down in the 40's, no such luck. No other cons so far. Did I mention, even though, how freaking quiet this factor is? Certainly worth the ฟ to enable nurse along my aging 2800, just not rather the impressive cooling that I was hoping for. There are also quite a few factors to blame it only on the HSF, but it is the primary aspect here. Right after installing the new HSF, I did notice a slight raise in efficiency on the CPU benchmark. Ranging from 5% to 10% far better on various tests, now my job is receiving superior airflow all through the entire case.I comprehend that some of the older AMD's run a bit hotter than their Intel counterparts, and the threshold is around 80 degrees. But operating on the verge of 70 was a bit worrisome. Wish I could get into the 40's.Here's a fast break down of noted temp differences.
