It works. This cooler is so noisy that I can't stand it. I plan to replace it with a thing (anything) else. This was advertised as a "quiet" cooler. NO WAY!

Offered with low price and quick shipping. It is significantly quieter than the fan I had. Nevertheless a fan and will make 20 dB of noise at max energy. I bought this to replace a LOUD fan that I had on a two.7 GHz P4. I couldn't watch a movie with out getting distracted. With this fan, the noise is tolerable. This was the most effective resolution for the money that I could acquire anyplace on the net.

Like other people reading reviews on Socket 478 coolers, I have a Pentium 4 I need to have to maintain in service for just a even though longer but fundamentally wanted to spend nothing to do so. What I actually wanted was just a fan to replace "ol' squealy", but the Intel stock setup has the fan molded into a proprietary plastic latching mechanism. Thankfully, this portion was so cheap so as to be a no-brainer, despite the slight overbuying. The bigger but slower spinning fan is quieter than the stock ever was, but core temp is a few degrees cooler. I see the cost has climbed to ฟ plus shipping exactly where I received the item for บ plus totally free shipping. Perhaps a couple of bucks appears like a minor item to complain about, but shoppers of components for 5+ year computers contemplate such factors. Otherwise I have no complaints given that a fan of sensible inaudibility tends to expense บ on its personal. The heatsink base came pre-greased, which I like in spite of possessing some Arctic Silver on hand. I'm quite confident the intended audience of this item isn't the variety to squeeze the final degree out of their P4s and doesn't seriously want to waste time smearing messy compound around dinosaur computers.

Price tag, low sound level. Efficiency soon after lapping. Performance out of the box was poor. I installed this cooler o a P4 3.0Ghz cpu with stock thermal compound. The temps ran 55c idle and 75c below full load prime95. (which I think is way too hot.) It wasn't worth it to RMA due to shipping expense so I attempted lapping the copper base of the heatsink. There are directions all over the online on this. Immediately after lapping and utilizing Artic Silver five thermal compound I now get 43c idle and 54c full load w/ prime95. I am very satisfied with my acquire now.

Quiet, Price range Priced Installed it to replace a broken fan in an HP Process. Fan spins slow enough that the bios thinks the fan is faulty when it's operating as developed. Had to disable the fan speed monitoring in the bios settings.Clips take a bit of balancing to get lined up and connected. For an older technique it does the job and the cost was right.

It was Low cost. It has the paste currently on it. They advertise this fan on the box it came in as becoming Hyper Silent? This fan is as loud as the Stock Fan or maybe even a tiny louder. I made this acquire just for the claim that it was quiet. It is not. It is also complicated to install. I had to get rid of the fan from the heatsink to set up it even then it was not uncomplicated. If you want just a stock replacement this would not be a undesirable decision but if your searching for silent/quiet fan neglect about this one particular. As for the cooling it is about the identical as stock also just a small bit cooler a handful of degrees.

Cool 92mm red fanSleeved power connector.ValueI upgraded a 2.6GHz Pentium four that would run 60+ºC that only had a heatsink installed to a 3.2GHz P4 with this cooler and the temps are about 50ºC. Not totally copper, but what do you expect for the cost?InstallationNo manual for putting in, even though it is simple to figure out just by looking at it if you have half a brain I decided to just use the thermal paste it came with rather than working with my Arctic Silver 5. It appears to get the job done just fine. With the arctic silver, my temps would in all probability be around 42ºC. It is a pain to install, it took me most likely 20 minutes to finally get it settled in there. I was installing it in my HP m376n which utilizes an Asus P4SD-LA mobo. You very first have to make positive the brackets are lined up inside the lip, get the side hooked in without having the lever, then press down firmly although generating certain the heatsink doesn't move to get the lever-side of the bracket in. Once you have 1 bracket in location, the other is a lot less difficult to place in. As soon as you get past installing it, this thing does just what it is supposed to and can't be beat for the cost!

Fantastic Item. much better than stock Dell heatsink setup. easy to set up. clips are great and tight enabling no movement. five-ten degree drop in temps. Quieter than stock heatsink as well Would have preferred a total copper heatsink rather of just the baseplate. Shipping was horrible. It sat in Louisville for two days. 3 day shipping...not likley. Ordered it 11ቫ. Recieved it 11ቲ.

Affordable and quiet. Have not experienced any. My old fan was dying...slowly and loudly. I'm not running anything graphically intense on this pc so I didn't will need anything fancy. It was a little tricky finding it installed, but this was due to the cramped tower, not the cooler. Snapped in nicely and away we went.

+Quiet+cooled down this older CPU+not too large - Seemed a small hard to set up, no directions, so I didn't know if the bars were supposed to straddle the lip on the heat sink, or sit just inside of it. I concluded that it must be just inside of the lip. Performs good for my old junky Dell that I was placing into a new case. I had to get the mounting bracket considering that Dell makes use of a proprietary 1. Couldn't find the bracket on NE, I found a great affordable one on that one particular preferred Auction Site. Had there been one on NE when I did this project, I would have bought it right here even if it had expense far more.

Quiet, low cost CPU fan not dynamically adjustable ; CPU gets hot under load Platform: Prescott 3.4GHz 478 Intel motherboard. The stock cpu cooler was an Intel C33218-002. Each cpu coolers maintain the CPU at 37C when idle (Intel fan at 2600rpm, Rosewill at 2200rpm). With one hundred% cpu load, the Intel cooler would speed up to 3100rpm and maintain the CPU about 55-58C. With the Rosewill 񢌘rpm fixed), the CPU gets up to 68-70C which is disappointing. Since this technique will not be below load 99% of the time, I will likely nevertheless preserve the cooler. It is the trade-off among a ผ cooler and a ์ Zalman. Advise installing Intel Active Monitor so it will visually and audibly alert when the program or cpu is getting hot. Really rapidly delivery. Good searching. Found it much easier to set up than most reviewers who complained about the clips. Cools slightly better than old hsf (then once more it's spotlessly clean at the moment). Need to have hallucinated that my original Intel hsf was suddenly really loud because this is just as loud or louder. I'm resigned to receiving utilised to it. None of the other units Newegg has for the 478 socket are particularly nicely reviewed for noise. A couple of photos by way of instruction would have been nice for a newbie such as I. From the reviews, I anticipated to get a quiet fan that was difficult to set up. The reality proved to be the opposite. Never ever getting installed a new hsf before I was a small baffled for about two minutes about exactly where to secure the clips but after I realized they clipped onto the the plastic Asus bracket, they went on quickly with only the slightest downward pressure to align them. I had a lot of area on my p4p800e mb to operate with. For me the pre-appication of thermal grease was a plus.OTOH, I seriously see no benefit from this more than a working stock hsf. It cools only slightly better, runs at the identical speed and is as loud or louder. If you need to have a comparable hsf for a stock unit that isn't working properly this is just fine. I wouldn't discount it (given my mb) for tough installation. Just don't think you'll get 50% a lot more cooling at 50% much less volume.

quiet, large fan no variable speed, so the fan can't spin faster (ex: 4000 rpm, like the stock cooler), for that reason this cooler doesn't cool as properly as the intel P4 prescott cooler, in truth, it idles at a larger temperature ࿢-70 degrees) not suggested for any intel P4 prescott (like the three ghz a single). Stock cooler is noisier, but much better. Note that this product is supposedly particularly for the Prescott cpus, up to 3.4ghz as stated.

Cools my 478 Intel three. Prescott around 36c Idle & 48c complete. I was getting problems with my previous cooler overheating. I swapped it for this a single. The availability and value created me choose this cooler. 1. Altering cpu fan: cpu fan is "ok" - I installed a distinct fan on this heatsink (one with much better specs). There are no holes in the heatsink to bolt fan onto. Generally, the fan bolts are fastened in among the heatsink fins. I think its "ok" but we'll see how it holds up.two. No retention bracket included: if you don't already have a socket 478 heatsink retention bracket, you will also need to have to obtain one particular, it does not come with this cooler package. Need to contain the 478 heatsink retention bracket, just in situation. Otherwise, a decent cooler for the funds.

Quiet, gets the job carried out. Kinda awesome seeking NO directions. --Not for the inexperienced.-- Doesn't appear to awesome as effectively as Intel stock. Don't get if you've never had expertise with Pentium 4 (Socket 478) style heatsink mounts. Has no directions and metal clips can be a discomfort in tight spaces. 1 frustrated move can break your motherboards constructed-in mount.Overall performs as a replacement and does its job, even though getting quieter (and seeking cooler) than the Intel stock fan it replaced.Pentium four three.0C (Northwood)

It's sort of pretty with the red fan and all. Intriguing that folks bragged about how quiet this is. I bought it, for that cause only, to replace my Cooler Master D14-8JD3B (rated at 28.2db), which I suspected to be a tiny loud. But after 1 day, switched it back. Even though the Rosewill is listed at 20.25db, it's substantially louder than my old Cooler Master. Oh well . . . Guess you can't think all you read (or even the specs).
