Quirky
Comment:
Works with one laptop (Vista) not another (XP). Informs me it would work better in a 2.0 slot but its in one. Have purchased other active cables without the quirks. Use it to move my WiFi adapter to a better location.

16 ft UAB extension
Comment:
I purchased this product as a means of moving my USB WiFi adapter to a location that gave me a better signal from my wireless router. The signal to my remote PC was being interfeared with by other electronic devices close to my PC and using the extension I was able to eleminate the problem. Works Great!

I have a mac and this says that it is compatible. Well first off, they give you a mini CD which doesn't work in most macs so I copied the program onto a large CD but it couldn't read the setup system. Even when I went to the web site to get the drivers, they didn't work either (and the drivers are really hard to find). It kept opening it in a word document. So, I sold it to someone who has a pc (brand new dell laptop) thinking that it would work for them. Well, it installed just fine but it had problems actually detecting the device once they plugged it in and when it did seem to work, their internal card and the device seemed like they didn't get along and all of a sudden... blue screen of death! Not a good sign. This item is definitely not what they advertise. Spend a little more and you will get your money's worth. This thing was a waste of money and you can't send it back!

Needed to extend my wireless adapter from one side of the room to the other and this extension worked perfectly, even with my Vista OS. Highly recommended, no negative issues.

Vista?
Comment:
Didn't see that it didn't suport vista. Not sure if it does. Plugged it in with hub, and kb/mouse. Said that everything was better off in a usb 2.0 port. (all of mine are, as well as the hub) then everything it stopped working. All in all probably not compatible with Vista 64

Helps over-come the signal lost of extra length of cable and good idea to preceed any USB Hub-Splitting device.

works as specified
Comment:
It looks like a conventional cable but it's a USB device in itself like my USB to Serial adapter. I had no issues with it being recognised by my PCs. Cool!

It performed as expected
Comment:
I'm out in the country with dial-up internet and was trying to hook up a "wireless stick modem" to my desktop. It was hoped that the extension cables would remotely locate the "stick" to pick up a cellular service. It actually worked, but my cell signal is poor to start with and didn't meet expectations. I'm now trying to sell the cables on Kijiji and have secured wireless internet service from Xplornet.

Don't bother with this cable.
Comment:
For what ever reason this cable failed to connect yo any of my usb devices. I would advise against buying it. I note some have success but if you are one of the unlucky ones to get a bad one the hassle of returning it for $13.00 isn't worth it. I ate my investment.

SABRENT 16.5 ft. USB 2.0 ACTIVE Extension Cable AM/ AF
Comment:
I just received this and tryed to use it as an extention for my superjoyboxpro which is a converter that allows you to use ps2 controllers on your pc. It worked perfectly until I tryed to use this as an extension and then after only 1-2 minutes of use it loses connection to the controllers until you unplug and plug back in. It probally will have very similar effects to other usb products so be sure to look into this before you purchase.

I didn't buy this cable, but to the person who said that the maximum length for a usb 2.0 cable is 5.2 ft, you are dead wrong! Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_2.0#USB_2.0 to learn more. Anyway, what it is is 5.2 ns per meter, so the cable can be not more than 5 meters long, not 5 feet! This of course is 16.4 ft and this cable is almost exactly that size, so I would say that this company did know that much and you sir did not do your homework!

Purchased 3 of these cables, and none of them worked in any of 3 machines running Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP Pro SP2. Got nothing but ''unrecognized USB device''. When I did get a printer to respond, it did nothing but garble the output. Something not right with these cables. Beware.

Don't buy this product! I bought 3 of these cables and none of them worked. I spent hours trying to troubleshoot. I contacted Sabrent & asked to return them. They refused and insisted on troubleshooting. After 2 weeks of emails, they agreed the cables are defective and will send me new ones after I pay to send them their defective cables back. Why would I want more cables that don't work? I tried these cables on XP and Vista with the same results. BEWARE - Sabrent is not a friendly company to deal with.

Comment:
If your setting this up from a laptop to a wireless adapter more than two links(32 feet)you will need a y cable and a mini hub in order to have enough power for your wireless adapter. Other than that, they work great and are a good value.
