Worked correct of of the plastic package. Package says additional foot contain for free, 16 feet total. Warning on package if repeating cable up to 75 feet, the voltage will decline gradually. If the USB device uses two watts or more an external provide is essential for the device. Plugged 1 end of cable into Windows XP machine and other finish into Creative Live! Webcam, almost everything worked fine, no complications.

This cable works fine w/my canon printer. Performs as advertised WITH A single Critical CAVEAT. NOTE that the cable will ONLY Function when plugged straight into your mobo's USB ports and does not AT ALL like to be plugged into PCI to USB expantion cards like newegg's "PPA three Port USB 2. PCI Card Model 1073". I will only give you the "a function driver was not specified for this device" error if you attempt to plug it into one of these.

SABRENT 16.5 ft. USB 2.0 ACTIVE Extension Cable AM/ AF
Comment:
This device performs exactly as expected, and has less latency (almost none) than comparable items I've attempted. I use 2 of these cables daisy chained with each other, along with a ten' passive USB extension cable and have no troubles burning DVDs or playing DVD films more than this connection. This is an perfect test of the capabilities of this device due to the higher sensitivity to jitter and latency that would be visible whilst transferring info back and forth to a DVD.At a earlier point in time I also had a USB powered four port USB hub, keyboard, mouse, and thumbdrive hanging off the finish of these very same 2 daisy-chained USB repeater cables, without having issue, so unless you're working with a high energy USB device at the other end, you need to not have troubles out of this solution. Does not operate for a keyboard in the course of POST and for bios configuration or for the GRUB 1.five boot menu, but this is due to the repeater appearing as a USB hub to the Computer and the bios not liking this just before the OS takes over. The repeater finish of the cable could stand to be a small much less bulky.

This product does precisely what its supposed to. Cable was a tiny stiff, and nonetheless tries to coil back up into that shape. Will take time to flatten. I'm utilizing it on a wireless mouse/keyboard receiver to bring the receiver closer to me.

Comment:
Its not just a extension, it is a active hub of one particular. Decent cable. I was capable to power a USB wi-fi dongle more than two of these reliably, in a position to use three extensions with erratic final results No power connection. This would have been the greatest if there would be a way to get additional 5v power to the finish of the cables, Just not adequate to energy the cable its self and a device when making use of far more than two with each other Just the best thing to extend most USB two items. My device had no way to add its own energy provide and this would be the cats meow if it could be powered optionally somehow.

Great cable for the cash. Will allow placement of usb stuff away from the Pc. Not just a cable, but an active USB two hub with a single port Could use extra power delivered to the device. The USB performs over the length of five of these hooked collectively! Just has to have its personal power supply.

Allowed 2 to extend to more than 30 feet! Performs with all versions of Windows. None actually. I ordered one particular of these a week ago, then decided I needed an additional. The initial one was only shipped in a plastic baggie. The second came in a difficult plastic retail package. Funny point is the package states the cable is 15 feet, and has ŕ foot added free of charge!" FUNNY!

They do what they are supposed to do. I don't see any loss of speed, in particular in reading a rapidly 133x SD memory card. 1 broken, 3 working ... I gave it a 1 rating... this is not the very first issue like this - read the other critiques. now I have to RMA and spen $x on shipping it back to newegg. It's almost not worth the work.

i could hang myself with the cable, but it would likely break. maybe if i was wet enough, someone could beat me with it and i could get it by way of my head how negative a obtain this was i was so excited to get this cable. all these 5s and stuff. it was just what i required. but it wasnt. first, i went to tape my UFC fight over my USB tv tuner. when i came back, it had stopped recording about five minutes into the broadcast, and i missed getting able to see the fight. so i tested some more. Something plugged into my Computer or LAPTOP more than this cable failed when you tried to transfer data. i tested my tuner and a thumb drive. neither could do what they were supposed to. junk. couldnt transfer info from a powered device, or a non powered device. when i would often plug my devices in, windows would detect, undetect, detect, undetect. two separate computers dont lie. this cable is junk.

Began employing this in Feb 2007. It is a bridge in between my personal computer and D-Link DUB-H7 USB hub. For the past 2+ years I've had a printer, keyboard, wireless mouse, portable scanner, camera, 400GB external HD and a USB essential plugged in. I've under no circumstances had a single complaint- every little thing operates excellent. None, performs like a champ

Performs occasionally. Looks nice. Operates from time to time. But then it regularly just fails and I need to unplug/replug it. It acts like its working fine, and then at a important moment, my keyboard is offline. Frustrating.

Fairly silver strands... ahhh Doesn't function INstalled in my auto - not a extended run, but truly inaccessible under seats and carpets. Took more than an hour to run it. Once installed, shows up in Windows as "unknown device." No data moving. No answer from Sabrent tech assistance. No drivers accessible. Actually, is it worth the hassle? No. Get a unique cable.

I guess you could use it as a shiny clothesline or tent rope or some thing, since it is usless as a USB cable. Mouse and other USB devices connected to this cable would freeze each second. I RMAd it and the next one particular did the very same issue. A USB packet sniffer(SnoopyPro) showed the cable was causing or sending ABORT_PIPE and RESET_PIPE USB commands to the devices for some cause. These commands had been causing the devices to continually shed connection to the computer. Steer clear of THIS! Go with a name brand. I got charged a restocking fee when I returned the second bad cable for refund. There was no way I was going to try a third time.

Strong construction, really flexible, repeater finish is compact, affordable... work like a charm. agree with earlier reviewer that there really should be locking mechanism. They dont come apart easily but I'm running five of them above ceiling panels and would like additional insurance against seperation.

The only PRO for this item, is New Egg shipped it out the exact same day I ordered it. I am in Afghanistan. I bought this for my WIFI Adapter. The 16.five UBS Extender never ever when worked, and it even failed the Cable tester. I do Satellite Communication for a living. Quite upset that I waited 2 weeks for this to arrive, just to locate out it didn't work.

I purchased two of these and daisy chained them together, connecting a net cam on the end of it. No top quality or speed loss that I can detect. I would be nice if the ends "snapped" together. Just like any USB cable, they pull apart simply. Windows XP recognizes it as a high speed USB hub.

One operates out of 3 that I ordered. The 1 that does function has been working non cease for a little more than month now. Low cost. Two didn't operate out of 3 that I ordered. Possibly too inexpensive. The packaging is generic/cheap, so that may well say a small about the product quality. Quite a few other people today have had equivalent problems. By the time you RMA the ones that don't operate you may end up spending adequate time and money to justify buying a additional pricey brand that may possibly really perform.

My wallet is lighter. DOA - when just cable is plugged in, WinXP does not recognize device. Believed perhaps there was a driver for it, but no.Doesn't make sense to RMA an item when shipping to me and back would price as significantly as the item. Possibly I can use it as a noose or something. I normally check out all the evaluations on an item, but now I've learned to LISTEN to all the earlier unfavorable critiques posted on NewEgg!(The lure of a low-cost cost is often worth rolling the dice against some poor reviews, but soon after two failed attempts, this and a poor HD, I won't do it again.)

None The cable in no way worked. Sadly I didnt check the evaluations when I purchased it, (why? It was just a cable, no major science on it) it was a big mistake.None of the 4 cables I purchased worked. "Device not recognized". I tried them all, some would even shed connection entirely (meaning the Pc wont even see there's something connected to the usb port) if I tap the repeater finish slightly. The cable is ugly and looks cheap as well
