Best so far.
Comment:
Best 2.5 inch enclosure I've seen so far. It is the only one I've come across that does not require a second USB cable for DC power. I even have one enclosure that has both a 4 and 6pin Firewire ports (the extra 2 pins are supposed to be for powering devices) that requires the extra USB - DC cable (VERY STUPID DESIGN). I plan on purchasing another one of these enclosures next month.

Nice Product
Comment:
Does what you would want. Very simple. A child with the understanding of how a gameboy works would have no problem using it. Literally plug an play, lovely product. Defiantly recommended for accessing old laptop hard drives. Flawless.

Does the Job, but shipping cost is painful.
Comment:
No fancy dials or buttons here, but the power light is enough to know that it's working. The enclosure can get a little warm so try to keep it in a ventilated place. It's always tough to pay $7 in shipping for a $15 item... Still, it works as advertised and I like that you don't need an external power supply.

Good enclosure
Comment:
For the money, it's a pretty good enclosure. The adapter was a little hard to fit in my drive. The screws didn't totally align and sit flush on the case. But the most important thing, is it works.

Perfect 2.5'' External Hard Drive Enclosure
Comment:
If you are looking for a SATA hard drive enclosure, buy this one! Works great! As some reviews have noted, the screws are very tiny but just be careful to add pressure to not strip them, and the USB needs to be angled to connect, i actually prefer it this way. Buy this product!!

Does the job
Comment:
Inexpensive and works like it should. I put my daughter's laptop hdd in this enclosure so I could pull the files off after her HP DV9000 decided it wasn't going to power up anymore.

Great for dead laptops!
Comment:
Bought one for a friend to retrieve data from a laptop with a dead mother board. As soon as I removed old harddrive and attached it to this enclosure, I plugged in both USB cables to new laptop and it recognized the extra drive right away and I was able to move all her music and financial files to her new laptop. WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!

Does what it is intended for
Comment:
Does what it needs to do, very small, nice carrying case, cheap., what more are you looking for? It isn't the best quality construction, it's all plastic, but what do you expect for so cheap. I recommend it.

Another Great Product/ Wonderful Price
Comment:
The device does everything stated. It was simple to hook up and once formatting my drive I was ready to go. This site has always offered the highest quality items at great prices. Any time I ordered from another company to save a few bucks, I immediately regretted it because of the lack of quality or the device not doing what they state. I am a satisfied return customer and will be for a long time.

What a cool thing!

When you swap out the drive on your laptop for a bigger drive, what do you do with the old drive? This product answers that question! That old drive can be used for backups or for transporting large data files between computers.

An Absolute STEAL!
Comment:
It works. I've used it with used/formatted; new/unformatted; 60-320GB; made from '04-'09; to clone, back up, and fix other's computers with software I put on it. If formatted, XP and Vista recognize it, else go to 'Control Panel', 'Administrative Tools', 'Computer Management', (XP or Vista), 'Storage' and 'Disk Management' to initialize/format/partition as FAT, FAT32 and NTFS. Screws are small, easy to strip, requiring no force. If holes misalign, reverse fit and get a better match. To remove the drive, remove screws, end-caps and carefully slide out. Power is from USB; LED is green for power, red-orange for activity, (formatting or copying). It gets warm, but drives already run warm anyway. It's made of aluminum, which dissipates heat, and comes with a keen pouch. Many external drives are ugly, costly and gawky, so this was a utter steal. If you have spare SATA drives from an old laptop or game system, get this and put those drives back to work as a file repository. Have a great day!

Exactly what I paid for!
Comment:
I have zero complaints about this product. It is simple, to the point, functionality. i've seen complaints about the screws for this device so i was a little concerned ordering this. upon receipt of the device I kind of chuckled a little bit. if you have problems with these screws you probably don't need to be bothering with this and just buy a pre made external hard drive. Do not expect a bunch of bells and whistles with this device, but if you are looking for something to get the job done economically and easily this is the right buy for you!

SABRENT EC-UST25 Aluminum 2.5" USB2.0 to SATA External Enclosure
Comment:
Using with Hatachi drive on PC w/XP Media Center. Took it out of the box, put in the drive, plugged it in and it worked perfectly, first try. What more can you ask? The ''Y'' USB cable is a nice touch also - gives back the port you're using. And you NEVER have enough USB ports!

SABRENT EC-UST25 Aluminum 2.5" USB2.0 to SATA External Enclosure
Comment:
i used this with a 320G Hitachi 2.5 sata drive. it fit perfectly. small, convenient, easy to use, all the parts fit as it should. i could have purchased an already built external harddrive, but wanted the option and flexibility of changing parts should i need to replace the drive at a later date.

SABRENT EC-UST25 Aluminum 2.5" USB2.0 to SATA External Enclosure
Comment:
I wanted to make use of the 60GB SATA drive I took out of my PS3, so I bought this enclosure. I was able to install the drive into the enclosure and get Windows to recognize/format the disk with no problems, although I did have to force the drive in somewhat to get the connectors seated. I also removed the drive, just to make sure I could, but it took quite a bit of effort. The LED serves as both a power and drive activity indicator; that feature, plus the DC-less power operation were exactly what I was looking for. The biggest beefs I have with this product are the force required for insertion; the screw holes don't align with the holes in the drive (I wound up leaving them off); the tight fit of the enclosure to the drive; and the fact that I had to shave down the nibs on the retaining clips of the top cap, just to get it around the drive and into the holes. It also gets a little warm during drive operation, but nothing major. Overall, a good product for a great price!

SABRENT EC-UST25 Aluminum 2.5" USB2.0 to SATA External Enclosure
Comment:
This enclosure is a piece of junk. The quality of it is unbelievably poor - the screw holes are not aligned, the usb connection is at an angle, and if you put a hard drive into it, your only chance of getting it out is by breaking the case. I almost destroyed my brand new, $150 hard drive trying to get it out, but luckily it survived after I poked a hole in the other end of the stupid enclosure and pushed it out. I ended up transferring files with the hard drive connected to the end with the USB port while it was outside of the enclosure, which worked and I would recommend to anyone intending to ever remove their hard drive from this enclosure.

Comment:
Put an old 120gig drive from my macbook pro into it and it worked great. As mentioned in another review, the usb plug sits at an angle but doesn't affect usability, just aesthetics. Comes with custom USB cable so that the drive can be powered from two USB jacks but it wasn't necessary on my Mac.... works fine with a single USB port.

SABRENT EC-UST25 Aluminum 2.5" USB2.0 to SATA External Enclosure
Comment:
Sabrent makes the best hard drive enclosures at the lowest price that I've seen. I have two of their enclosures now, an IDE and now this SATA one. Both work great off of one USB port with no additional power source. Because they're made of aluminum, they're solid and can take the abuse of traveling around from site to site. I bought a different brand from Circuit City and it was awful, go with Sabrent! The only thing I would change is the type of screw hardware used to seal the case, the ones that come with it are kind of cheap and small.

I'm sure this item works as said, yet I was unable to use my 250GB hard drive. According to the documentation that came with the unit, it may not support 'very large' volumes. So, I will try another enclosure.
