Confusing
Comment:
I explained to customer service how I wanted to use the USB Vidio Audio Capture. Customer service Emailed me A link with a page full of drivers, and no instructions as to which I needed to down load. I do not believe this device is suitable for a begainer like myself. I still have not found the correct driver

Working great for me!
Comment:
I got it 2 days ago and recorded from camcorder that night and again last night with no issues. I went straight to Sabrent website and downloaded the correct driver. Capture devices listed under TV Tuners, by the way. After installing, I couldn't find the recording software that should have installed so I used one I already had.

Good Harware - Poor Software
Comment:
This is the second Sabrent Adapter I've purchased and returned! In both cases, the hardware has performed but the software has NOT. This time I spend an hour on phone with Sabrent tech support and we couldn't get it to work! I give up and would like to try a different product but haven't found any.

Works great once you get the correct DRIVER!!
Comment:
This really is a good deal. You get the hardware as well as the movie capture software. However, the software contains the wrong driver, therefore, it's a challenge searching and installing the correct version for proper operation. But well worth it.

JUNK - DO NOT BUY
Comment:
I got this thinking I could at the least use Microsoft's movie maker to save old VHS. WRONG! The hardware wsa nice, but when I went to install the capture software it wanted passwords that were no wheres to be found. I looked in the readme files and even contacted the MFG and never even recieved a reply email. The software was by ULEAD. I will never buy from Sabrent or Ulead again. Not to mention I had to waste my money to ship the stuff back. I am not buying Pinnical.

Sabrent USB 2.0 works on win xp,gets the job done
Comment:
The unit works, the software works... its basic, it gets the job done for 29.00 how can you beat it. Driver loads but windows asks a few questions and you have to select it out of the windows directory, no big deal if your used to this. Somethings are not ALL Insta load no thought required. Serial Number for the software is in a txt file on the CD, look it up write it down to load the application. it doesnt capture high def but it does work so far.

Worth the Money
Comment:
I have a new windows 7 home built system and needed a video input device. I bought this one. Initally I loaded the disk that came with the system only to have problems and needed to use my last restore point to get the system stable again. By E-Mail I was able to get the new driver required for my system from the Sabrent help desk folks. This step took about a week but I had the time to wait. Now since the help desk is aware of the problem I would think that the fix would become second nature. One thing there is little instruction that comes with the device on how to use it. Play a little with the software (one the disk that came with the hardware) and you will figure it out quickly. For $20 I don't think you can beat the price.... I would buy it again...

WRONG DRIVER IS SENT WITH THIS PRODUCT!!
Comment:
Purchased the Sabrent Item: USB-AVCPT (USB 2.0 Video DVD Maker Adapter) and the CD-ROM Driver they sent comes with the WRONG DRIVER. Now my video project is delayed. No tech support hotline is available to Sabrent just a funky e-mail inquiry.

Don't work on all computers
Comment:
In spite of the fact that my Toshiba laptop (A75-S211)meets all of the equipment requirements, the video capture starts and stops and sometimes locks up. The sound level is so low that I had to use an external amplifier just to record. Four or five emails to Sabrent did not solve the problem.

Device does NOT work
Comment:
The driver that comes with this device is not the right one, and I contacted Sabrent's customer support which is also a huge joke. Eventually they sent me the link to a driver which was supposed to be correct (to download from their site) and even though this driver appeared to be correct, the device still would not work. Very disappointing!! My advice, find another device; preferrably one from a company with knowledgeable customer support.

It works, but it takes effort to get it going
Comment:
Most of the reviews mention the driver not working. Those reviews are true, it take a person with more than the average computer skills to get it to work. I finally got it to work and this is how I did it. The software driver that came with the product was totally the wrong one, at least for my computer. I had to go to the product website to get the correct driver, and this is where you need to know your computer, whether it is a 32bit or 64bit. (I didn't know what mine was, but after downloading each and installing it, I finally found out that it was a 32 bit). I read the read me file that came on the installation disc (this is important because you will get a warning that this is not windows compliant message (or something like it), and you'll want to install it anyway (this was on the read me file). And ta-da, it works. I was able to copy a VHS tape to my computer :)

Comment:
The audio connection does not mount into windows (audio device). Capture only works with proprietary software. Got 2 replacements, neither works. Won't refund the device. Sabrent laughing at me with my frustration.

Well worth the money
Comment:
Too many complaints about this, but I needed one and I tried it.. Glad I did ! First of all, the CD had the right drivers, and Video software, though basic, gets the job done. If you plug and expect to play, get something else, if you know what you are looking at and know what options to change, then this thing works great. First try I cut a VHS to mpeg, 30 min video, picture quality is very good and sound timing is right on. Definite recommendation if you know how to play with options. If you are a beginner, then plan on spending a lot more money for an item that will have someone on the other end of the phone to tell you what to do.

Never Worked
Comment:
I was never able to get this item to work and was never able to complete my midterm project because of it. I attempted to search the Sabrent site for drivers because there were no drivers provided with the equipment. And it almost seems as if Sabrent is keeping some sort of national secret because the site was almost impossible to navigate and search.

Some good, some bad
Comment:
I needed to transfer a VHS to digital. It was 1.5 hours. It worked but there is some timing discrepancy of less than a second during a portion of the file. Also, I had to try different things to get it working because the help information was not very helpful and when I tried to register to get online help, the website listed in the booklet was not working. So, I was able to accomplish what I needed but with pain and it was not excellent, but still good.

Watch out you may get no audio
Comment:
Although this product seems like a cheap way to get video it is just that a cheap product. The problem with it is the connector inside that connects the cables to the circuit card. You may experience no audio or one sided audio because the maker seems to want to pack as many wires as they can into one pin causing no or bad connection. If you are brave enough to unsnap the case and gently press the pins further into the connector you can reestablish the connection and then I would suggest either super glue or nail polish to secure it in place. After gently snapping the cover back together and rechecking the audio video and if it still works, you are golden. This is my second one after returning the first with no audio and manufacturer tech support is of no use because they will never tell you to take the cover apart. Lets face it most people would not know what to do anyway so you end up returning the product disappointed.

It took Work to get this product fuctional
Comment:
My laptop was a 64-bit and this product does not work on 64-bit Vista. I contacted the manufacturer and they had me send them the one I purchased and they sent me a compatible one. I had to call them at least 4 more times for technical support to set it up properly. Also loaded it on my XP Desktop and it works on the desktop but I have had problems recording on my 64-bit Vista. I did have to pay for shipping of my first purchase to Sabrent which cost additional money. There are no instructions with the product. It is functional now as I stated on my XP Desktop
