Great performer
Comment:
Worked right out of the box in Vista Home Premium. Good quality transfers from VHS to DVD HQ. The bundled ULEAD software is also very good and intuitive. I recommend this product to anyone wishing to transfer analog to digital.

don't waste your money on this product. Does not work with Vista 64 bit Windows. Buy a DVD recorder instead.

Very bad experience
Comment:
I bought this unit mainly because of the great price. I guess what they say, You get what you pay for rings true here. At first it would not capture video, only sound. Then I realized that there was a bad video plug. Too late to return it though because the way I realized the plug was bad was because it broke apart when I was pulling the connection apart (They were super tight from the get go). I bought a new plug from Radio shack and soldered it on. Then it worked. I was pleased with it for the most part but then it quit working again. I still cant figure out why I cant get video to work on it. The driver does not pass windows logo testing and the software has been bought out by a different company and deemed obsolete so they dont have very good tech support. There may be other people who have bought this device and enjoyed it but unfortunately I did not.

not what it claims to be

i have windows Vista (64) and i had to down load drivers. couldnt find these from any compUSA or manufacturer website, found them on some message board. then once loaded, no audio. after hours of searching the web, i found many otrhers with same problem and apparently its one of those that you just have to suck up. it doesnt work with certain types of video cards? go figure

Mixed feelings
Comment:
I have mixed feelings about this product. As it is shipped, the device comes with Windows XP drivers only. That is not a problem, but might become one down the road when I upgrade. I was unable to get the device to fully function on the computer that I intended to use. Video capture worked without problems, but since the device failed to advertise itself as an audio device, audio capture fails. This is an issue specific to something in my Windows XP installation; installation of the same drivers on a different XP machine is fully successful. I'm not sure what causes the issues, but the result is that I am only able to get partial use of the stick as it stands now. All in all, good value for money, if you get it to work properly. The $30 price tag is not a barrier.

BAD DEAL
Comment:
It looks so good, but the product did not work in down loading from a camera or Wii source. Product is a $29.95 'throw-a-way.' xx

Didn't work for me
Comment:
I wouldn't get this to work for me. Trying to get a still s-video image captured on to my computer. The driver software that came with it locked up my windows 2000 OS.

Can't get it to capture

Toshiba Satellite L305, Vista. It looks like it should be working, but I'm getting no video or audio from my DVD/VCR. Is there any support available? I can't find it.

Good software bad hardware
Comment:
I got this to convert VHS to DVD, on a machine with VISTA, and used the included software. The product would not capture from VCR. I called Sabrent and got good response, though they put me on hold right in the middle of a sentence three times. Right now Im waiting for them to send me a replacement unit. It would capture from the computer's DVD. The editing software is very easy to use, though no audio in the editing mode even though I had set the options menu for sound during editing.

Comment:
Not a bad piece of equipment...if your a computer nerd. This product will not work straight out of the box. You will have to configure it to use NTSC does not select this option its self. *Note the drivers do not work on a 64bit OS! I found that the hard way and had to use my 32bit Vista laptop. It does work with Vista...go figure.

Very Impressive Capabilities for the Price...
Comment:
So far I have 3 devices connected to it using a 4-way Audio/Video Switch Box. I can switch between Outdoor Audio Video Surveillance Camera, VHS Video Tape Player, and DVD Player. Soon I plan to add a feed from my Cable Box to record movies from my TV like TIVO or a Digitial Video Recorder. I am very Impressed with this device.

Excellent Video and Still Captue device
Comment:
I have been using an Old Snappy device for the past 5 years, and could not find a newer alternative. That was until I found this Sabrent model. It uses Ulead Video Capture Studio, which works very good for standard definition video, and capturing low resolution stills from incoming video. I Highly recommend this unit, and for only $29.99, the price can't be beat!

SABRENT USB-AVCPT Usb 2.0 Video & Audio Capture Creator DVD Maker Editor Adapter
Comment:
For installation I followed the broken English instructions, plus my personal know how, that accompanied the capture device and prompts from my computer (WIN XP Home). No problems installing. Before the included program would work I had to select ''NTSC''. After playing with it a bit to understand the finer nuances, was able to use the capability of the included software quite well. Given it is a capture of VHS tape the video quality was about I expected, Just OK. Gave 3 Stars on quality because the user instructions are pretty weak, the physical connection to me is quite robust. I have ordered other items from here in the past and have had no problems.

Sabrent USB 2.0 Video/Audio Capture DVD Maker Adapter. Rxed order on time. For installation I followed the broken English instructions that accompanied the capture device and prompts from my computer(Dell B120 laptop, WIN XP). No problems installing. Before the included program would work I had to select ''NTSC'' and choose ''Audio Preview during record''. Good video quality even on full screen mode. Was able to record straight from my Digital TV tuner. I have ordered other items from here in the past and have had no problems.

Comment:
Bought this to just transfer old tapes to DVDs. The system is a core2duo system at 1.8Ghz with Vista Home Premium. The documentation is a joke. But it did say install drivers first. Did that, then the hardware, finally the software. It actually went well with no glitches. Amazing performance for a cheap product. And the software is actually pretty darn good at what it does, in a limited way. Video on the conversion looks as good as the video direct to the monitor. (But the tapes were old) Took a bit to make it work, but that just took repeatedly going down into the 'options'. Still can't monitor sound while recording though, but otherwise, this is fantanstic for the price.

Comment:
Purchased this product mainly to transfer by old VCR's to Video DVD. I installed the enclosed Ulead Video Studio but found that it could not capture through the interface without a separate, commercial program add-on.. Since I already have various video editing programs with video capture, like Camtasia Studio and Windows Movie Maker, I deleted the Ulead program. I discovered that the capture driver had to be configured for NTSC format(it was set to PAL) for it to capture from the VCR video composite output. Works great now.

I needed a product that could convert an analogue signal from my hi8 camcorder to my computer. After reading the reviews i almost didnt buy this product. After buying it, i was ready to return it. I then did a little research and found out why i was getting green and purple colors instead of images. YOU MUST CONNECT TO A USB 2.0 PORT!!!. I had it plugged into a usb expansion port. It it not work. I then plugged it directly into the 2.0 usb port and now it works just fine. Dont expect HD quality from an analogue source. The output looks like video from a camcorder. This product does what it says. i am happy with the performance.

Comment:
We got one of these and it works just fine, but we use Windows Movie Maker rather than the included software. I wouldn't recommend it for anything less than a Pentium IV 3.0 GHz because it really is a CPU hog. One annoyance: we cannot get the sound to play back while capturing - it is there, but we haven't figured out how to tell XP to 'play' sound coming from a usb sound device. Splitting the input sound with tees or similar Rube Goldburg setups gets around this. We've successfully captured video from CD players, VCR (cring) players, and digital camcorders, and plan to continue doing the same without problems. Oh, windows movie maker is included with XP.
