Nothing special. Didn't work with my serial hardware. I utilised the very same settings as my old PC that has a serial port. Going to try the CABLES UNLIMITED USB-2920 USB 2. to Serial DB9 Adapter as listed below.

Sabrent 6-Foot USB 2.0 to Serial DB-9 RS-232 Adapter Cable
Comment:
This cable does precisely what it needs to do. This is the excellent cable if you want to use it to connect to Cisco routers or switches via console cable (serial). This also works with 64bit drivers. The excellent of the cable is also extremely good and quite well produced. This is not like 1 of those other cheapy produced in China cables. This 1 is really properly made. I prefer quality and then cost. This product meets each criteria. The cheezy looking driver disc that came with the cable. The mini disc looks like somebody burned the cd out of their garage straight from China. Not a huge deal due to the fact I downloaded the most recent drivers from Sabrent's web page. I prefer the newest drivers directly from the manufacturer anyway. You will absolutely be happy if you get this cable.

It just works. I required the capacity to connect to a serial console on a firewall and we no longer had a personal computer with a DB-9 RS-232 connection, so I bought this. I am utilizing Windows 7 64-bit and the installation went fairly well:- plug in the USB connector to PC- Windows tries to load a driver and fails, but you get the likelihood to "click her for options to resolve", and one of the options is to let Windows grab a driver from the net- Windows 7 grabs the appropriate driver with no you having to make any further selections, installs it, and you're off to the races.I did not even insert the CD that came with the cable. Maybe the correct drivers are there...I don't have any notion. Not actually an issue with the cable, but it would be good if Windows somehow magically shipped with the driver already present. Putty supports serial connections and let me connect to my Soekris box to view console output, but did not send my keyboard commands to the Soekris. I switched to TeraTerm and it worked fine for me.

Sabrent 6-Foot USB 2.0 to Serial DB-9 RS-232 Adapter Cable

I'm addicted to my ancient Psion Revo / Diamond Mako palmtop (still the finest PDA ever produced in my opinion), which uses a serial cable to sync with the desktop PsiWIn software program. My new desktop has only USB ports. So I got this cable to hook my serial PDA dock up to my machine. I installed the driver and it's operating fine, as long as I keep the baud rate to 57600 or below (which I feel is a Psion<->XP concern, not 1 with the cable). none for me. The CD with the driver was a mini business card kind, so if your machine then you could have an problem.

Comment:
This 6-foot version of the shorter SBT-USC1K is natively compatible with Linux through the pl2303 driver (listed in the kernel configuration as "USB Prolific 2303 Single Port Serial Driver".) I have had no difficulties utilizing speeds up to 115200 bps with this device below each Linux and Windows Vista. For use below Windows the supplied driver was needed for support and has triggered no difficulties. None. This item has performed nicely each and every time I've utilised it. When connecting to a different PC be sure to use a null serial cable or the connection won't function. You can attach a F-F null modem cable to the end of this device if necessary for this sort of use.

Install the Drivers and plug it in. 64-Bit drivers readily available on web page. One employee used 32-bit Windows XP drivers, I the 64-Bit Windows Drivers, both worked. none For those with notebooks with out serial ports and old equipment in will need of a serial connection, your search is over.

Easy, straightforward product. Works as it should. You need to click around on the MD to come across the right dirver install directory -- takes a a few extra seconds to figure out. Shipped and arrived as expected and solved a huge issue, i.e., what to do with a legacy DB-9 money register. . . .

inexpensive and works as advertised. I utilized it to connect Smarthome PLM (serial) to USB port on my control PC (laptop). Worked best with no concerns. Not actually a con, but need to appear in hardware Manager to see what port quantity was assigned to the serial port.

Great product
Comment:
We bought this for multi-platform use. The driver CD was needed for XP, but both Vista and Windows 7 had the drivers pre-loaded with the OS! This cable is much cheaper than other ones on the market and works great for our serial applications!

Works perfectly
Comment:
I bought this to connect a Vista PC to a Uniden 898T scanner radio. It functioned flawlessly right out the package. I used the scanner programming software to set up the baud rate and the com port number. The scanner radio website wanted over $100 for this same cable. One of the reviewers complained about the standoffs. They're easily removed by unscrewing them.

No Vista Drivers
Comment:
I just received the adapter last night and after trying to install the drivers, I finally decided to look on line. I found the driver for Vista and installed it and my weather station is back in service. It should also be noted the Sabrent web site is confusing trying to find the correct link to download the driver.
