Fits in tight places. Performs as advertised in Pc. You won't break this device, as others claim, as extended as you are reasonably cautious. Hit or miss results when connected to Xbox. Demands two jumpers for "cable choose" setting for the Xbox, but only comes with 1. Must be บ or less. The device got along with my Maxtor Diamond Max ten 300GB SATA1 HDD when attached to Computer. Coldstarting the Xbox demands many reboots, ahead of XBMC launches, subsequent reboots perform ok..?? I suspect some sort of timing problem, as I was in a position to rule out IDE cable or power concern. Rather than wasting time I opted to obtain a ฿ refurb 250MB IDE for the Xbox as an alternative. XBMC rocks!

Had this thing forever, and have utilised it on a number of computers! It so far has worked wonderful on every single technique I have applied it on! Not no cost. Paid a lot more at a local retailer. Install is as simple as hooking up two wires!

It's compact, I guess. It did not function. It doesn't come with any drivers, and the website has no drivers for this product. BIOS, Fdisk, Ubuntu, and Vista could not detect the drive. A PCI SATA card is a lot superior. I got 1 following this didn't perform. It was uncomplicated adequate for me to install myself, and it came with a driver CD. It worked the first attempt.

It functions 12v power splitter sucks. I have owned a couple of these and it never ever fails that the 4 pin 12v power splitter falls apart. I finish up normally soldering it back together a few instances before acquiring a new 1. Also the IDE 40 pins on the circuit board short out on the tough drives unless you cover the board with electrical tape.

Operates like a charm. Effortless to install (for advance user) May well really feel a bit fragileNo user guide for beginners. ***Hints: for the pin selection, just read the words on the back of the chip, there is some instruction there*** I used this item to convert a SATA 250GB drive into a IDE drive because my client's computer system doesnt have a SATA port. The cheaper answer may well be obtaining a SATA raid PCI card and that will give one more port for a 2nd SATA drive, nevertheless the situation is a slim situation, so the PCI card won't fit (also it takes a bit a lot more information to get the SATA raid card operating), and I just give this SATA to IDE adaptor a shot and it operates!!!

Snug fitting SATA and IDE connectors. Jumper for Master/Slave/Cable Choose. Reasonably priced. Power LED. Included power adapter. Flimsy! Jumper is a little tricky to figure out (bad diagram). No Directions (not actually required even though). I bought this to upgrade my Xbox1 once more. Decided I'd go with a SATA drive this time, thinking of big IDE drives are becoming non-existent. Worked the initial time I turned it on. Working with it with a Samsung 750 gig HD. This adapter is meant for connecting a SATA drive to an IDE Controller! I haven't tried, but I don't assume it will function the other way around.

Almost the same height as a hdd; only slightly bigger. Comes with a power dongle. Has worked with all the drives I've connected to it, from 500Gb to 1Tb. Packaging was a small less than expected for an item that could be quickly snapped in half. According to the tracker this item took longer to leave the state of origin than crossing a few states and a little town. I utilised this item to run a TB hitachi in an older D-Link DSM-G600 and it worked great. The only limitation I have crossed was due to the device I was connecting to, not the converter. Some drives just won't operate with some devices.

Functions just fine. Set the jumper, plug in the drive.... what could be easier? Apparently, the only point less complicated for some persons is to have somebody else do it. Given that so quite a few here feel that setting a jumper is the hardest thing in the globe. Just make certain your SATA drive is set to SATA-1 compatibility mode... not SATA-2. This could quickly explain the issues some are getting.

Operates fine for short data transfers with each of my LG DVD-R/RW drives. All my DVD movies freeze each 10-15 seconds as if it is losing and reestablishing the connection continuously. I purchased two of these converters, and each DVD drives are getting the identical dilemma. I tried various jumper settings but with no achievement. It might be a compatibility concern with the drives, or just not created to handle DVD data streams. Yes, I know it isn't the drives due to the fact I used to have them plugged into the internal ports that my two new HDDs are working with. I knew just before I purchased them that converter cards can slow a information connection, but I didn't consider it would be this poor. Those of you that have SATA drives of any sort must accommodate them with a SATA controller card for PCI or PCI-e if needed. I'm ordering this one particular:Item #: N82E16816115011

Its compact size allowed me to put it in a smaller difficult drive case that held a 160 ide drive and put in a 500 gb sata drive. I am making use of the drive for my iTunes and it does lag occassionally, but plays music and videos well. I will attempt it subsequent in a old G3 blue and white and see what it does. If it works to break the 128 gb limitation will acquire a number of far more. So far so good No directions, but none seriously needed. Just set the jumper to the right spot and plug it in. For the cost it is worth having an capacity to put bigger tough drives in older ide tough drive instances to get much more use out of them. I hope it works as nicely internally for my G3 blue and white and and G3 imac I have.

Quality supplies but wants improvement. Bought two and could not get either to function with out locking up computers. Also has no directions. IDE connection is naked pins which easily get bent. IDE connection must have a shroud to cover and defend pins. A keyed shroud would make the connection dummy proof for the much less technically minded.

None. This item is of poor design and excellent. It is challenging to plug in and unplug. There was no documentation with the item, even though, it was a retail item. Jumper setup is difficult to figure out with no instructions. There is a diagram on the circuit board, but it is screwy.I never ever did get it to work on four different computers. Not work the value or the trouble to return. This is the only item I have ever purchased from New Egg that I was not pleased with.

I have a couple of older computers I keep around just to tinker with. This worked fine connecting an old WD Caviar drive to an even older beige G3. The pics all fit nicely, but the device it fairly delicate. Playing about with the G3 bit, I removed and installed the device a couple of times more than with out any issues, but it wants to be done meticulously. On the sata side, I need to have to gently use a thin blade to wedge the device apart from the drive. I leave the drive jumper-much less and use the jumpers on the board. It appears like the evaluations are really at odds here. It may possibly be a issue inherent in hardware adapters, and just receiving old, incompatible hardware to function together. Or, maybe there truly is a challenge with with them manufacturing this item consistenly. I actually can't say for certain given that I own only one.

Fantastic fit, low profile with uncomplicated to read pins (no want for instructions, flip board over for jumper settings). Unit did not function correctly with a Seagate 500GB hard drive. Jumper settings set appropriately (including setting the challenging drive to 1.5Gbit SATA-1 operation), the method 1st announced a corrupt Windows installation (Windows XP program was imaged to the new SATA hard drive) at boot. Ran XP Technique Restore from installation CD, would not recognize partition facts, only a 137GB unknown partition. On a whim wiped that partition and installed to it. Appeared to work then but wasted 400GB or so of HDD space which was now unusable. Either the system IDE controller or the LBA addressing on this card isn't functioning correctly. No good for SATA tough drives. I don't know if there is a totally working resolution to convert current SATA tough drives to function on older IDE controller systems or not. Would appreciate input from other users on achievable solutions.

It worked just fine. Mine came with an adhesive bumper to support support it when attached to the drive. It also came with a SATA cable if you want don't want it to get to intimate with your dirve. My drive light is acting stupid. Of course, there is no way to tell if it's the MOBO or the adapter. I suspect the MOBO. I'm trying to standardize my drives and have a mix of IDE and SATA machines. This is the inexpensive and dependable fix.

was not broken, shipped in timely manner Recieved defective portion. Master/Slave Jumpers manufactured on woring side of device. Was impossible to insert into any SATA device. Sent back for replacement with a operating product. Make confident if you get this, check it instantly, if the jumper pins are on the Serial ATA side and not on the IDE side, it will not function!

Comment:
Excellent adapter, works like a charm with my LG Multi Drive GGC H20L drive. Installation is fairly intuitive and the adapter is small sufficient for Mini ATX PC cases. Plugging the IDE cable can be a real pain because you have to align the pins to make confident the cable plugs in. The adapter has a very little piece of foam below it that could make the adapter to pop off from the optical drive, and given that it is made of foam and not from difficult supplies, plugging the IDE cable will make pressure and could bend the adapter somewhat. Employing the Molex to Floppy connector is strange, but handy for mini atx circumstances. For the price, you get what you paid for. Even although is a bit flimsy and feels like is produced of inexpensive materials, it works as intented and it's an outstanding adapter that works with lots of optical drives and challenging disks with no issues!!
