Comment:
Tiny for tight spaces, such as with xbox modding. be cautious when removing it from the P-ATA IDE 133 interface as with any adapter it is easy to bend pins or even apply as well considerably stress and bend the cards board. Exceptional Adapter for working with SATA substantial drives on older systems with only P-ATA interfaces. I have utilised it quite reliably on seven of my 750GB drves with no issues at all.

Sabrent IDE Ultra ATA-100/133 to Serial ATA Port Mini Converter
Comment:
Incredibly simple A little slow, but its not going to be any more quickly than a typical IDE HD anyway. Keep in mind, after you plug this into your really hard drive, it is now a SATA HD, according to windows. IF your motherboard chipset, (older mb), does not have a sata driver or does not assistance sata, this will not operate for you. You require to acquire the sata driver for your motherboard chipset to make this an internally mounted added "sata" drive out of this. (some manipulation can be carried out by the seasoned). IF you want to make this your key OS drive for a mb that does help sata, then yes, you will probibly have to reinstall windows or clone your partition to this drive working with the acquired sata driver. This device is primarily for all the external backup devices, that till lately, were all IDE. This converts an external case really nicely to the newer sata kind, for all of nowadays's typical really hard drives..which by the way do not will need to be recognized by windows as sata due to the fact you are most likely making use of a USB connection to your computer system for backups.Hope this clears up a few points.

It was effortless to figure it out. Few guidelines, or assistance details. They don't even list the product on the manufacturer's site. The SATA aspect comes unplugged a bit too quickly, but it ought to be fine. I had difficulty with mine, but that might be simply because the tough drive isn't functioning. I bought the HDD as an open box item.

None. It does not operate. I have always wanted to make myself a home backup server. The final device that I bought like this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812206001) worked flawlessly and I was extremely pleased with it. However, they had been out of stock on so I purchased this one particular as an alternative. That was a mistake. I have had difficulty immediately after difficulty with receiving this device to work. Initially the OS was going to be installed on another drive with the one connected to this device becoming utilized for file storage. I could not get my personal computer to recognise each drives at the very same time. When I ultimately gave up and just decided to use one particular drive, I could under no circumstances get the OS to absolutely install. I was worried that it was the new hard drive that I had purchased. Ultimately, I applied my other bridge produced by rosewill (the item I liked to above) and each and every worked perfectly fine. Despite the fact that I haven't checked but, I doubt this issue is even with the difficulty of receiving a refund. Please, for your sake, do not purchase.

This device ran the error count up to 139 on my Hitachi 2 TB drive before I known as it quits (Hitachi HDS5C3020ALA632). Don't know if it will work with one more drive on the identical IDE channel -- as well unsafe to retest, re-qualify. Worst errors of any CCBA device tested. Mystery chipset.-- Roy Zider

Effortless install, dont even seriously want directions.I have 1 IDE and a single SATA hooked up, was a little confused as to how it was gonna work, but all went nicely. just require to take away the jumper from the IDE HD. If you hit your computer or bump it, you may knock it out, be Incredibly cautious with that, trigger most hds are not hot swappable... all in all, this was a very good buy.

My organization required to clone 80+ HDDs in a quick period of time on short notice with nearly no man power (me, 1hr a day), and the only drive cloner we owned had IDE interface connectors. I had ordered a handful of of these prior to for short-term attachment for recovery purposes and had no problems. The manufacturer of the 8 drive cloner wanted far more than 7 Ben Franklins for their own particular SATA converter. I purchased 9 of these alternatively and they worked just as nicely. Each drive we mirrored that the drive cloner stated was good, truly was (we tested each a single). I have utilised this device effectively on 80GB, 160GB, and 500GB drives from numerous producers. You have to be cautious pulling off/pushing on the IDE cable from the pins as it's a snug match. The leading sata-side portion of the bridge connector has no assistance whatsoever, so I could definitely see a downward force from an IDE cable breaking off the SATA connector pins exactly where they attachto the bridge board. The SATA connector side is generally a loose match and seems as even though continuous use in a Pc case environment would wriggle them loose. I would contemplate taping these issues down or employing double sided foam adhesive squares (placed in between the bridge board and the SATA drive) for continual use. Securing the IDE cable would possibly also work. We had about four clone failures out of 80 but it may possibly have been human error in interface attachment as the failed drives were re-cloned and came up fine.Don't try to attach or eliminate an IDE cable with the bridge connector attached to a SATA drive. You could ruin the bridge connector.

I am using an LG GGC-H20L (BluRay Optical) on my HTPC. I have it loaded with HDs and the optical drive would always lead to the HD to drop to PIO mode immediately after some quantity of use. With the mini-connector attached to the lone IDE slot, the optical drive functions flawlessly and my HDs are all now unaffected. My Films play jut fine and the DVD burner had worked with out any coasters. As other folks have stated it appears a bit flimsy, but it's solid once it's installed as the device it's connected to aids to support it. The master/slave/cable pick jumper is not nicely marked but it's so clear how it functions that it's only a small con. (If you don't know how that jumper functions you probably shouldn't be installing an IDE device in the initially place...) This is a good make for what it is. I possibly would not use this for my main difficult drive, but I'm in all probability becoming superstitious.

I suppose if it worked, it would be a excellent way to attach a SATA drive to an IDE controller It only reliably worked on the IDE channel as a slave. The trouble is that I had 4 SATA drives that I wanted on my IDE controller card. The two slave drives worked fine, the two master drives had been reconized by the BIOS but I kept acquiring errors even though formatting them. I attempted every mixture of IDE Channel/SATA-IDE Converter/SATA Drive just to make sure that there wasn't an error on the drive or the controler. The conclusion through my tests was that when set up as an IDE master, the converter did not operate, when set up as a slave all was effectively. I have been developing computers for many years, so I know what I'm performing. It's clearly a defect that these converters do not function effectively as IDE Masters. But what's additional disturbing is that they passed QA at the location that makes them. There is anything clearly wrong someplace.

None. Have not got it to work but. I'd give it a 'zero; but this process won't let me. No documentation at all.OK, so I can figure out how the issue connects, but a small documentation would have been good. Power cable just does not match due to looseness of the pins. I bought this issue to resolve an emergency challenge, while I waited for a real SATA drive. Ought to have saved my dollars. This is the first item from Newegg that I've been unhappy with.

Worked out good. I was in a position to use a new SATA drive on my motherboard when I ran out of SATA connections as the MB had each SATA and P-ATA connections. Worked fantastic, priced appropriate. Don't recall any. Been practically a year and I forget it is there! Required a different one tonight but I got by without having it. I need to have to acquire one for a spare.

Very easily installed within minutes. Worked perfectly. Superb solution - JUST what I required! Concerned about the tightness of the converter, possibly a single bump to the tower could be devastating... but this was expected. Also there wasn't also significantly for instructions but it's quite self-explanatory. I needed this when I accidentally purchased a Serial ATA instead of an IDE tricky drive for an outdated program. This took care of my error and I've learned my lesson. Item has worked more than 6 months so far!

if you order a serial ata tough drive but your motherboard is not serial ata (like i did), then this easy add-on to your difficult drive will make it perform! basically pops on the back and is ready to go! no clip or anything, just attaches to the tough drive. worried that if i knock my computer more than, the thing may possibly all off! its not a large deal even though.
