worked good sence day 1, no troubles. use it to adapt and transfer information from drive to drive. transfered 19gb's of information less than 6 mins. with a adm 1.four processor. any device atached to it runs all the time. gave it four stars simply because of the brief time of use. will check download speed when i atache it to my three. quad method when it arives. oh make certain you undock the device prior to you unplug.

Good little adapter. Did specifically what I required it to do, at a dirt affordable cost. What could be much better? I would say the instruction manual is a con, but it's so funny that it must really go under the pro heading. You don't require instructions for a item this straightforward to use, but man, they're hilarious to read. I enjoy the way the instructions spell "you" as "u" and at one point they use the word "whopping" totally out of context. The absurd manual alone was worth the ฤ!

Cheap. Pretty small. Really simple. Has a driver cd, but does not require to be applied. Saved my skin when I was thinking about going to a tech (which was pricey) to get my information off my HD burned to cd following my mobo died. Pulled out sata HD, plugged into this then plugged into another pc's USB, burned my stuff to cd with no difficulties. Was really hot following just a few hours, although I doubt enough so to be an problem. Energy plug was quite tight and would not energy on the device until significantly force was put onto it and it was in at a slight angle. Worked flawlessly after. The manual is um.. for one thing else, most most likely, as other individuals stated (and in lousy english). But if you're taking into consideration buying this item to begin with, you almost certainly have some clue and don't will need it anyway. Effectively worth the little amount of cash, was a lifesaver and a beneficial tool. Does not require much technical background.

This issue is a blast! Purchase low-cost hd's and use them for backup by merely plugging them into your USB port. The "manual" is hilarious! It looks like it was written by a nine-year-old ... full of poor spellings. I laughed and laughed ...

Correct after I received the cable I just hooked it up and applied it immediately. Worked just the way I wanted devoid of flaws. The actual SATA cord is about two inches long from that black box you see in the image. It could get in the way but it wasnt a challenge for me.

Great small gadget. Handy addition to the tool bag. No drivers needed for XP. Ordered this just simply because I'd in no way observed it just before and believed it would come in handy. Employed it the quite 1st day to tell me which of four disks on a server was poor. Worked well. Rated exceptional inspite of the lousy manual and no site or maker name on packaging. Documentation abysmal - might not even be the proper user manual and disk for the item. The manual I received says "usb portable hard disk" and talks mainly about putting a drive in an enclosure. Badly written even if it was for the appropriate item - initially manual I've ever observed that uses "u" for "you". If I wanted text-speak I'd IM a 12 year old.

These inexpensive units might work differently depending on your motherboard's IO timing. The manufacturers manual is entertaining but incomplete. Perhaps their term 'whopping' is a Chinese shorthand for the missing tip - see below. If you encounter 'delayed writing' errors (in XP) attempt this: In the drive's Properties, Hardware, drive name, Properties, Policy: Check 'Optimize for Overall performance'. You really should make the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon in the technique tray to 'Always Show' & Don\'t forget to use it when disconnecting the drive or you will shed any information left in the write cache.

I appreciate possessing such fast access to my 500gig hdd, which could not function in my Dell2400 as it isn't configured for internal SATA drives. This cord permits me to connect my SATA drive to my old dell with incredibly little problems. The windows usb removal tool refuses to release the drive for secure removal, even even though it isn't active. This worked well when I had much less than 40 gigs on the drive, but did not operate in the five various pcs i tried following the drive had more than 200gigs on it. Great item, does what it claims to

SATA -> USB two.Comes with energy provide for HD No possiblity for two tough drives on one power supplyNo recommendation on how to hold challenging drives from heating up It's a wonderful product and incredibly helpful for me but sadly I still have to uncover a way to maintain this HDs cool (will use AT energy supply to spin fans soon). Also, as far as I can inform, a single normal ATX connector can assistance two of these SATA hard drives, and correct now I have two power bricks burning up instead because there is not two connectors from 1, which would be extremely valuable. Certainly worth the cash if you want to get some information off these SATA difficult drives and don't have a Computer.

I purchased this to replace a flaky connector adapter that I had bought a year prior to. This product worked fine without any hitches. It does get a little warm, but it in no way brought on me a challenge. Also, the sata cable is a bit brief, which was a pain since I was pulling data off an installed HD that I did not want to get rid of.

Worked out of the box with a two.5" OEM Hitachi SATA drive I was gonna put in my MacBook. It was effortless to format (GUID) the drive, copy more than (SuperDuper) the old files, and it booted first time. Activity LED is nice touch. None. Rapid shipping and a superior cost from Newegg.

Would have been good for the price if it had worked Does not work - tried it with 3 various difficult drives on five unique computers with all patches and SP applied ဂ, 2000, XP, Vista, & 7). Drives spin up, will mount sometimes, but drive architecture isn't visible or accessible. A green LED came on the initially time I plugged the power in, but after that it's usually red. At least it didn't fry the drives and they do still function with a different SATA to USB adapter - I was hoping to have a second in my bag, but this item isn't it. Not like product picture / no driver CD & business's web site support is a joke (although it should be plug & play on later OS's and that shouldn't be an concern). Don't buy - they seem hit or miss.

Decent price tag. Does what it says I'm a doofus and didn't spend attention to the truth that this is a SATA to USB adapter... I needed an eSATA to USB adapter. This is for SATA only. eSATA is a various connection. My stupidity for not paying attention to this detail - Now be advised of the fact. That becoming said it worked fine when I utilised it to connect a new 750gb hd to my laptop to format the hd in NTFS. My XP Pro laptop recognized almost everything without having any fuss or new drivers.

I purchased this immediately after having difficulty with two other USB to SATA (and IDE) adapters with some SATA drives. This Sabrent unit has worked perfectly with each SATA drive tried. Very recommended. SATA cable could be a little longer, but this is a minor quibble.

Permits you to interface with a difficult drive outside the pc chassis. Works with older non-SATA computers. It transferred information for me perfectly. The value is amazing. No functional negatives. I purchased this to recover some data when the CPU failed on a pc. Removed the difficult drive and used this to attach it to an old pre-SATA pc operating XP. Worked perfectly; all six drive partitions were accessible.I utilised it recently to prep a new difficult drive. I was able to initialize the drive, partition it with Partition Magic and copy files to it ahead of installing it in the laptop or computer. It won't win a design beauty contest, but it moved all the gigabits I wanted it to accurately and swiftly.
