Using XP, the adapter installed as a modem, did not have an opportunity to try the latest manufacturer or chip drivers on that machine. Using Win7(32) and Vista(64), drivers appeared to install correctly, but device would never work. It would show in device manager as a com port, but would always fail to start (Code 10). I tried both the 10311 and 10518 driver versions. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and assume the latest drivers will work properly on XP since I did not have access to them at the time, but this product is my first RMA to TigerDirect.

We needed an adapter that worked reliably at 460.8kbaud, this was by far the cheapest we found. Does NOT work at speeds above that (even though the drivers advertise 921.6kbaud).

Not all PC's come with serial ports these days. I can use my Palm Pilot again without having to open my PC to install a serial adapter. It works great with 32 bit XP.

The cord worked well with a printer. We also tried to use it with an old Intel Childs Microscope, and it didn't work. The Intel software did not support this type of substitution. This was not the cords fault: Intel stopped supporting this microscope and changed the drivers so you could not use a cord like this forcing you to buy a new microscope.

I am running a 64 bit operating system and this adapter unfortunately does work with my 64 bit system. Fortunately I also have some 32 bit systems and it works flawlessly on them.

Installed on 64 bit system. This cable driver software is non-functional! Message says software is not ditial signed.

I use this to configure various network devices (switches, routers, wireless access points) with my laptop or desktop PCs. Works fine on Linux without adding any drivers or extra configuration. Worked on coworker's WinXP PC after installing drier from included mini CD. Hasn't had the same

Used the product to connect to a serial port based GPS module. Product performed as expected in my application and somewhat limited usage. Since none of the rating criteria listed above really stood out (compared to similar products used in the past) I rated this product with 4 stars.

I needed a cable adapter for a diabetic meter to connect a laptop. The medical sites I was referred to by Abbot Industries wanted $35 for a cable. I found this one here and it worked great for a 3rd of the price. I also checked with local stores and they still wanted $30 I would recommend this product for any serial to USB connection

I work with embedded systems and needed a serial connector to a HCS12 board but my 64 bit machine(lap top) did not have a serial port. The driver on the CD with the adapter needed updating to work on the 64 bit machine but than that works like a charm! I really appreciated the quick delivery since I work with time constraints and was able to achieve what I needed well before the due date!

I connect my laptop to my ham radio gear so I can send/receive email to/from our sailboat, using WINLINK 2000/Airmail and our HF radio. My interface stuff is dated and all have DB9 connectors. I had a set of three USB to DB9 adapters, but they did not work with Vista (32 or 64). In desperation I bought four Sabrent SBT-USC1M USB to DB9 adapters. The online documentation said they were Vista compatable, but the retail container did not mention Vista. They worked flawlessly, right out of the box. They are running on an HP laptop running Vista 64. I highly recomend these little adapters.

If you have trouble communicating at first at first you may need to manually assign an available COM port.

This is a great adapter; just what I needed, at a price I could afford. If you have Windows Vista, you will need to download the driver from Sabrent's website, but that was easy and quick.
